A La Carte 4-2025 free BROWN RUCE option! Chix + Pork From $14.95+ Beef $15.95+ Shrimp, Squid Fish $16.95+
    Louise B.

BROWN RICE lives here, YAY! AND no upcharge to swap for white, already grabbing points here! Golden House also touts No MSG too if that bothers you. (ramen, Doritos occasionally and hidden in so many other seasonings, it's overly criticized, and did you know, made from natural ingredients molasses, sugar beets, starch & sugar) . 2 std dishes Kung Pao Chicken $14.95 and Beef Snow Peas $16.95 were both tasty. KP was a tad too sweet and would make that adjustment in future, had mid level heat as served-- overall 4/5 hubby enjoyed. Snow Peas were a bit tough, chewy vs tender and snappy. Maybe a parboil to tenderize before quick wok hit ? and velveted beef had decent texture and flavor 3.75/5 a bit chewy and garlicky brown sauce aok. Portions are fair, you may have leftovers if you aren't really hungry but hubby easily ate his KP but only 1/3 of a heaped rice bowl. $3.50 for a small single pot of black tea (oolong?) was a bit stee, they got too busy to ask for more H20, but the free upgrade on brown rice more than makes par haha Overall a 3.8/5 for flavor and quality, Golden House is good. But still searching for a Go-to on SE side... Chef Wang still shines brighter for us: authenticity, wok hei, fresh bamboo shoots, tofu skin wraps, clay pot with Chinese dried mushrooms, variety on menu... although, alas no brown rice :/ Thankful though for this family Chinese restaurant, a quickly iconic mainstay of US dining, nearing extinction in many towns. So truly am thankful for GH preparations today!

The food was so good I don't usually eat that much but I basically finished all of it. The portions weren't crazy big they were pretty average. The service was really great as well they attended to me quickly the food came out pretty fast. Great place to eat. Thank you !

Solid Chinese food here. Service is very friendly and fast. Small restaurant with inside seating. Will definitely return. I haven't found better Chinese in all of Tucson. Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Chicken Lo Mein, house fried rice, and egg rolls were what we ordered for our group of 3 and we had leftovers.

Chicken and broccoli. This was the full plate serving at$10.95. Think this a bit small.

Food arrived just 15 min later and was piping hot and delicious. The lasagna is a good sized portion (roughly 5x7) and is generously filled with meat. Taste is amazing with medium-firm pasta and a nice crust across the top and sides. The ricotta calzone came with a side of marinara (yay) for dipping as there is no sauce inside. Roughly 2 dozen toppings are available, ranging from $3-$8+. I opted for the (priciest) meatballs ($8.50) and was slightly disappointed. The meatballs are crumbled within the calzone (understandable) but not pronounced in quantity. I would prefer larger pieces (halves work at this size - after all I ordered meat-ball not meet-ground ;) However, for $8 (a 75% upcharge) my chief gripe is that I was simply expecting more. Next time pepperoni/mushrooms! Ambiance is lovely and waitstaff were awesome - gracious, knowledgeable about menu specifics, and attentive. Parking is free/easy at this corner of a small strip mall. Can't wait to try their new Detroit menu too! Note: due to Rene's smaller size (less than 10 tables total) and high demand, all reservations (any day) require a credit card to hold. This is entirely understandable as even one no-show is a measurable hit to keeping a full house. I also have kids yet 100% embrace their patio-only policy. This literal mom/pop (they have kids too) venue tries to do the impossible balance between clientele and intimate, high-end dining (we simply accommodate by getting take out when feeding the Whole family ;)

Everything was amazing but my favorites had to be the meatballs and the pizza. Only downside was that they were out of lemonade, which I really wanted to try. But the food was so good that I'lol for sure be back, so I'll just grab it next time.

My final evening in Tucson led me to ALLORO Bistro and Cocktail Bar, nestled inside the Hilton…read moreTucson East. With a Fish Friday special on offer, it felt like a fitting and convenient choice to close out the trip. Unfortunately, the evening began with a noticeable lack of hospitality. The host stand sat unattended--no greeting, no direction--leaving me to seek assistance from the bartender, whose indifferent response suggested that if I waited long enough, someone might eventually appear. After about ten minutes, a server arrived, asked a quick "how many," seated me, wiped the table, and disappeared without a trace. The service that followed never quite found its rhythm. A woman wearing a wrist brace--presumably a host or manager--floated through the dining room, occasionally escorting guests, though rarely anchoring the front. After another stretch of waiting, my server arrived, offered a menu, and returned with water. From my seat, I had a clear vantage point of the entire dining room: roughly five or six staff members moved about, yet the overall energy felt detached, subdued, and curiously unwelcoming. To the restaurant's credit, the ambiance offers a quiet charm. Soft, flattering lighting casts a warm glow across the space, and the proximity to the bar adds a gentle hum without overwhelming conversation. The clientele--largely older patrons--kept conversations low, creating an atmosphere that would lend itself nicely to an intimate date night. The menu, however, failed to inspire. Aside from the prices, little stood out--though I remained hopeful for the Fish Friday special: Chef Brandon's Alaskan hand-battered cod. At first glance, the dish arrived with promise--golden, crisp-looking fillets paired with fries and coleslaw. But the illusion quickly faded. The fish was disappointingly soggy, its coating limp rather than crisp, and the flavor was strikingly bland. The fries were inconsistent--some adequately cooked, others seemingly still thawing--resulting in a disjointed and underwhelming side. The coleslaw was, frankly, unpleasant, with an off-putting taste that made it difficult to finish. There were small redeeming touches. The aioli delivered a pleasant burst of flavor, and even the simple ketchup accompaniment felt like one of the more reliable elements on the plate. After being checked on, I pivoted to what seemed like a safer choice: a patty melt. With clear instructions given, I anticipated a recovery. Sadly, it followed the same trajectory. The sandwich arrived dry, sparsely layered with onions, and lacking the rich, savory depth that defines a proper patty melt. Once again, the saving grace was the house-made dill pickle aioli--bright, tangy, and genuinely enjoyable. Throughout the meal, the service remained inattentive, with staff frequently congregating near the bar rather than engaging with guests. Despite the restaurant's clean and well-kept appearance, the overall experience felt disjointed--an establishment with potential, but lacking execution where it matters most. In the end, while the ambiance offers a pleasant backdrop, the culinary experience does not rise to meet it. Having traveled extensively and dined across a wide spectrum of establishments, this visit did not leave a lasting or favorable impression. Regrettably, Chef Brandon's offerings do not earn a place on my foodie list, and I cannot recommend ALLORO Bistro and Cocktail Bar. On to the next destination--and as always, don't forget to tip your servers.

Come here if you want flavor and balanced spice! I am new to Tucson and as a ride share driver it's been my mission to find all the best eateries in Tucson. Wow wow wow! Came here on a whim for my daily snack. The team here is very kind and helped me choose some food as a newbie. I ordered 2 birria tacos on corn tortillas with an Arnold Palmer drank. They were so kind to offer me an array of salsas, limes and a small sample of cabbage cilantro and onion mix for (which I found hella refreshing because I am so used to getting just a side of chopped onion) my two tacos. Growing up in LA's street food scene I usually judge the food by the salsas alone, omg but everything was top tier. Side quest on the salsas: I got 5 salsas and each one was excellent - super blended and the balance of flavors would make Anthony Bourdain proud. *The Mild salsa is made with green tomatillos and honestly this was the first time I felt like I could actually taste the tomatillo bright and crisp flavor. *The Medium salsa still has a kick to it but its Smokey chipotle flavor is absolutely delicious! *The Avocado salsa was good but not my favorite big lime flavor to be expected. *the Habanero salsa was so delicious it's a slow rising heat but it's the spices that make it so magical. I love spicy and this the was perfect level of heat and FLAVOR! *The Cilantro Sauce was the star of the show, nothing fancy just evenly balanced and done right, it paired perfectly with the birria meat! In total I paid $17 for 2 tacos and a drink but I'd say this is straight Sonoran soul food! Worth every penny if you need some good home cooked meal that truly represent what I imagine well done Sonoran Mexican Food! Amazing experience will be back again with friends! Note: On Tuesdays they have a deal of 4 tacos for $9! I asked the drive thru girl what she would recommend to a new customer, she said their steak is super delicious and their bake potatoes are yummy as they have their own specialty sauce that they add to them.
