Amazing Hotel in the Heart of Manhattan, I Highly Recommend It! I stayed here for 4 months while studying at Pace University on a student visa, having come all the way from Germany, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Honestly, I expected it to be just okay, but it exceeded my expectations, it was great. The staff are some of the friendliest people you'll meet in Manhattan. They're also very professional and stick to their word. The front desk team is always welcoming, ready to help, and available 24/7. You feel genuinely safe here thanks to the constant security presence. Cleanliness is my top priority, and this place delivered. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well-maintained by a thoughtful and hardworking housekeeping team. If I had to sum up the rooms in two words, I'd say: ''cozy and clean''. Over the course of 4 months, a lot can happen, but everything about this accommodation was positive. The location is very central, almost right between the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building (Macy's is at walkable distance, they all are). The subway station is right next door, and there are plenty of cozy cafés around. The hotel also offers Wi-Fi and many other amenities. Next time I'm in NYC, I really hope they have a spot available, because this is absolutely my go-to place.

Nice day. Good location The bed can be a little small if you used to a queen or king size bed. However, when you're in the city you're just in there to sleep. You're not really in there in the watch TV or at least we we weren't so I enjoy it. Be very careful of the elevator. You will smash your fingers if you're not, it's a old style elevator. I love it. You can get maybe three people in there but I love it so enjoy it. I would stay here again. Very quiet. Staff is great. Clean and it's quiet

Very cute hotel in midtown east NYC, I stayed here for a week recently. I got the 7th floor with a view of the Empire state building. It was beautiful, maid service was on point. No complaint really except the elevator was tiny and out for 1 day. Excellent 4 stars hotel in ny.

Quiet st. Ran 8 laps every AM.

I love the Hotel 31. It is clean, totally safe, in the best neighborhood in midtown Manhattan, and inexpensive. Good food nearby, subway to Yankee Stadium and Grand Central and downtown real close, Empire Stae Building from my window. Fabulous. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

For those that don't know Manhattan hotels are EXTREMELY expensive! You better make sure you go with 2 to 4 people to share or, unless you're very rich, it's off to Jersey or Queens for you! I went on a trip solo and thought I'd have to take that route, but I found this hotel and immediately booked it at a little over $100 per night (2 months in advance for 7 nights). I was a little hesitant because of the shared bathrooms, but I've never been a hotel snob so I went for it. Best decision I've ever made! The best word I can use for this place is VALUE! Let me break this down: * Room- My room was small, but big enough to handle my stuff. I don't travel for hotels so as long as I had privacy and a bed we're good! * Shared bathrooms- My floor had 2 bathrooms for about 12 to 16 rooms. That may sound bad but in my entire week of needing to use the bathroom for showers or using the toilet one was always available AND fully stocked/clean. * Housekeeping- They are on it! Bed was always made and had plenty of towels each day. * Check in and Check out- I arrived to NYC at 8am. Check in was at 3pm, but I asked if any rooms were ready. There was and I was able to check in at 9am! Check out was at noon and they did hold my luggage (free, but I left a tip) as my flight was at 9:30pm. They were absolutely flexible! * Location- It's in mid manhattan/murray hill area. You are right next to the 6 Subway. The hotel is between Park and Lexington. Surrounding businesses include: Barber shop, Dry Cleaners/Laundry service, sushi restaurant, bbq restaurant, a fancy pizzeria, lenwich deli, a 24 hour deli/market, a bagel place, a dunkin donuts/baskin robins and probably more! You are 10 minutes (walking) from the Empire State Building. My experience in NYC was memorable. This hotel is a definitely winner and highly recommend.

There were 2 different switches and it was confusing to figure out what controlled what. The staff were very friendly. They were able to get us into our room early and they let us check out late. One thing to note: the hotel sits right above a sports bar, so it can get noisy when there's a game on. The gym was a low point. The hotel shares its fitness facility with a Planet Fitness, which feels out of place for a mid-tier Marriott -- not quite what you'd expect from the brand.

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Would stay here again, perhaps during a less busy time of year, if that's even possible.

The Library Hotel is every bit as charming as people say, but what really makes it special is the team. I arrived by car while the building was hidden behind scaffolding, and the front desk was incredibly kind and patient, helping guide me to the loading area so I didn't spend my afternoon circling the block. Housekeeping was so gracious and helpful throughout my stay, the bartender at Bookmarks very kindly helped my friend carry our drinks down to the room, and checkout took less than 30 seconds. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. The themed rooms are such a fun touch (I loved seeing how each one was inspired by a different subject), but I also have to give a shout-out to the practical things. I took a few work video calls from my room on the 12th floor, and the Wi-Fi was ridiculously good - honestly stronger than the Wi-Fi in my own house when I'm sitting five feet from the modem. Not a second of lag. The TV also had a ton of premium channels, which was such a fun surprise after long days exploring the city. And finally, a standing ovation for the real MVP: the air conditioning. New York was basically a sauna while I was there, and every time I walked back into my room I was greeted by the most glorious arctic blast. It was so good that my friends ended up wanting to hang out in my room and order dinner instead of going back out into the heat. Perfect stay from beginning to end. I can't wait to come back.

Whenever you get to spend time with other book lovers, it's a plus, so I also very much loved being able to talk to people in the common room on the 2nd floor. They also offered the price including breakfast. Arrived at the hotel and saw that they only had one working elevator for a hotel that was over 20 floors high. There was a line for the elevator that you had to wait for at least 20 minutes to take. I asked the about the breakfast and they said the restaurant was closed so no hot breakfast. Why is this hotel offering a room rate price with breakfast when there is no restaurant for breakfast?! They told me they had bagged breakfast, which was always gone and coffee was all gone too. Took over 10 minutes to wait for new coffee to arrive. Renovation work bright and early at 8am. I was offered loyalty points for compensation by the manager, Delanie, and these points never showed up. I was also mistakenly charged for drinking their water bottles when I didn't even touch those bottles. They never even told me that I was going to be charged after checking out.
