This place is cozy and filled with friendly faces. We stopped in for a drink after lunch on a snowy day and it definitely hit the spot. I had hot cider with the house rum and Doug had a Moscow Mule. Both drinks were good, but I definitely have to say the reason I'll go back is the atmosphere. I'd be a little worried about how comfortable it might be with over 20 people, though. The cocktails at Hotel Tango have significantly improved since they first opened. I typically choose beer over a cocktail, but these bad boys go down like water. I believe their cocktail menu is season. The I can't remember the name of mine but it had watermelon and it was so refreshing! The service has always been great. Since I am not a frequently cocktail drinker I tend to take more time to pick my drink and the staff is always happy to help me narrow down the selection. I love the vibe of this place. It's got a bright atmosphere with an energetic staff. It's actually decent for a date where you want a little respite from the bar area. There are couches to sit on and kind of get away from some of the noise if you want. Staff was welcoming. I ordered an old-fashioned as I was not given a drink menu. Being a solid "beer girl" I wasn't planning on visiting Hotel Tango and feeling as comfortable as I did the first time. (Trust me when I say I know my way around a tall beer!) I don't even know the first thing about cocktails and mixed drinks. Their menus are very descriptive, and if you still have questions like I did, their staff are incredibly helpful and don't make you feel foolish for asking question after question. The atmosphere inside feels like what I imagine walking into a winter ski cabin is like. It's very rustic and full of texture. There's even a wood burning stove in the center of the room. There's really no other place in town like this that I'm aware of. If you have out of town guests, you'll definitely want to bring them here to check it out with you. This is truly a special place. Not only do they make all the alcohol, but they also turn that alcohol into expertly-made craft cocktails with interesting combinations that change seasonally. Their drinks are on par with the best I've ever had. There's a relaxed ambience here that's great for a date but also for a night out with friends. You may only need one or two cocktails here that would compare with three or four at other establishments. The staff are really friendly. Hotel Tango has become of my favorite bars in Indianapolis. The bar is owned by veterans and pays homage to our military so the decor is super cool. They are always coming up with new and innovative cocktail recipes, but they'll make whatever you want if nothing on the menu tickles your fancy. I can't believe that we are just now trying this place out. It was so much fun to just sit at the bar and try the different cocktails on their menu. My faves were All the Way Mae and Connie Morgan. My Father is retired Air Force with 30 years of service that included a tour in Vietnam. I read about the folks that started Hotel Tango and their story and loved the military tie. My Dad loves a good vodka martini every blue moon so I ordered him a bottle of Hotel Tango Vodka via the website. My Dad lives in a condo with a concierge service that receives mail/packages (among other things). Last weekend, I asked my Dad if he had received the vodka I ordered and found out that he never had. I couldn't find the link to the company that shipped the vodka so I reached out to Hotel Tango's customer support. On Monday, I received a message from their customer support telling me that the company that shipped the vodka attempted to deliver it 3 times and I now had two options: pay $25 to reship the vodka or pay $20 to return the vodka (I paid $25 for the vodka and $15 for shipping initially - $40 total). I immediately responded to the message letting the customer service representative know that my Father's condo has a concierge that receives packages AND I had shipped many bottles of wine to my Father over the years without any issue. Additionally, I expressed that no one had ever called or messaged me to let me know of the issues the shipping company was having with delivery. Four days later and an additional email to customer services and I have not heard back. From a customer service perspective, this is incredibly frustrating. I feel like I have been completely ghosted and am being penalized because the shipping company that was used failed to deliver. Sharing this experience so that others can be aware when placing online orders. read more

The outside seating are could be a little bigger but the indoor seating was good and comfortable. Hotel Tango where have you been all my life!? This may quite possibly be the newest most trendy spot in all of Indy. Located in Fletcher Place (Fountain Squarish) across from Chilly Water Brewing Company. Walking in you are greeted by the massive wood-burning fireplace and it feels like stepping into a mountain lodge. Exposed brick and wood, comfy couches and perfect mood lighting make it hard to leave. At the time I visited they only had rum and vodka spirits available. Whiskey on the way. The Rum Diablo was the quintessential perfect cocktail. They make them strong just the way they should be! Also, don't forget the free, bottomless popcorn. Everything about the place is rustic and inviting. Feel free to explore the area where the distillation occurs and marvel at the beautiful copper stills. I'll be giving this place 5 stars as soon as whiskey becomes available. This place is an absolute must visit and a wonderful addition to Indianapolis. This place is adorable. I was SO excited when I walked in, as Hotel Tango was decked out in fall finery (read: parking lot pumpkins on hay bales! Cute!). There are couches, picnic benches, and a garage door that allows crisp fall breezes inside. All drinks are made with their house-distilled liquors. Prices are comparable to other cocktail bars (Libertine, Ball & Biscuit). The bartenders were busy yet personable. I'm thrilled to have visited one of Indy's first craft distilleries just a few days after it opened! When approaching it after dinner in Fountain Square, Hotel Tango Whiskey's location dazzled my eyes with its inviting warmth. Inside, my friends and I admired the decor and got a table near the impressive fireplace. Brian, one of the owners, gave us a gracious welcome, told us about the distillery and the history of its building, brought a never-ending supply of popcorn, and offered samples of its Victor Vodka and Romeo Rum. The former is mostly made out of sugar with some corn, he said, and though the alcohol was strong, it has a sweet flavor. We all agreed that the Romeo Rum, made from molasses as opposed to cane, was absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the very tropical Cuban Missile Crisis cocktail. Overall, I'm so glad this establishment has joined Indy's ranks and think it will do very well! I can't wait to return for more Romeo Rum or when they unveil new spirits! read more

This place is an awesome local distillery. Their cocktails are delicious and the atmosphere is intimate yet social. Honestly I walked in not knowing what to get. I ended up ordering a drink that the bartender made for the people sitting next to me at the bar, as they seemed to really enjoy it. It was delicious! Very refreshing summer drink that takes the cucumber/herbs route rather than the sweet route. So, if you're into that, I'd highly recommend ordering the "Haley Says Yea!" That is, if the bartender remembers how to make it, and it's the same bartender... Otherwise, I'll just say their gin is great so I'd recommend their gin-based drinks. Ask the bartender though, there's definitely drinks they are more and less fond of making, and more or less comfortable serving. read more

I'm guessing the high stars are because this place is new and exciting. Me personally...I don't see it. The place is designed very well, and I love the recycled look of everything such as a door for a table and all the mismatched chairs. This is why I give the place 2 stars. The drinks were absurdly overpriced (which you'd think would be cheaper since they make it on location and have lower costs) and not amazing. They were perfectly fine for $5 cocktails, but for $11 a drink? Come on....that is more expensive than Libertine prices, which at least has a reason to charge that much due to the prestige it has earned over the years. No food due to not having a kitchen. They have food in a buffet style heater like sliders, nachos and potato skins which they charge $10 a plate for (holy crap). If you saw what it was, you'd laugh. I honestly thought the lady was just having fun with me by saying $10 when she showed me the Kroger tortilla chips covered in velveta nacho cheese with a table of toppings like onions, chives, jalapenos and such. Think nachos you get at a movie theater. My girlfriend and I both left shaking our head at this place. If this place gets popular, then we sure as hell don't get it. read more

I feel so conflicted about this place. I want to love it. I adore the ambiance. Especially if you can snag a couch by their giant stone fireplace, it's pretty much the coziest joint in Indy. It's nice and quiet right now because it hasn't really been discovered. The staff is also super nice. Bonus: They serve popcorn with Old Bay's seasoning on it as a snack. But the drinks are ... ehhhh. I don't know much about distilling, but perhaps they weren't quite ready to launch...? It perhaps doesn't help that they're only producing rum and vodka at the moment, and those are my least favorite spirits. (Bring on the whiskey and gin!) All the mixed drinks are waaaaaaay too sweet for my palate. The only exception is the Bloody Mary, which is appreciably spicy, but also has a unfavorable undertone, which I think comes from the vodka itself. I've now tried quite a few of their libations and I have a hard time swallowing the $10-11 prices given the quality. I'd rather take my sawbuck to Bluebeard, The Libertine, Ball and Biscuit, ANYWHERE that gives me a nice, boozy, non-sacchirine cocktail.
