My daughter had an incredible experience with her technician. My massage was ok. But I would say that the "extras" are not worth the price you are paying for. In fact they should be embarrassed to charge for them. The lounge has furniture that is extremely uncomfortable and the locker room has one shower and is very small. The king room was barely bigger than the bed! The bathroom was also very small (one person at a time), the counter wedged into a corner with a bar size sink and minimal counter space. There were no hooks for towels or clothes. The room amenities were minimal at best...very small bottles of shower soaps, shampoo, etc. And with a room rate of ver $400/night...I would have expected better. Sunday morning, only one of 3 elevators was working. People were waiting at each floor with bags trying to catch a ride to the lobby to check out. We ended up riding up so we could ride down. A couple was hosting a wedding brunch in the roof top bar. The one elevator made it problematic for their guests to go up to attend. Apparently, one of the two nonworking elevators had broken the night before and no reason given for the other being out of commission. We were were the ones who alerted the front desk there was a problem! For a high end hotel not have addressed the elevator problem before a busy Sunday morning is poor guest services. While the location is excellent, I am sorry to say,I would look elsewhere for nicer accommodations for this same room rate and in hope of better guest services. read more

If in the DC White House area, I would choose a different hotel for my needs. Location is nice, but not close to good restaurants. The area seems to be a dead zone for good places for coffee and dinner. It's good because it is close to the sites. The rooms are awkward, the small sinks are barely usable. I couldn't wash my face without hitting the mirror. There is minimal places to organize your stuff, which when traveling is important. The gym was gross. The treadmills are awkward & the floor is filthy. I couldn't do a plank without getting grossed out. I stopped into the hotel bar one night & a hot tea ( water and a foil tea bag) was $7. That's absurd. The bed was comfortable, but a weird motion sensors would illuminate the room any time I moved. I would not stay here again, nor recommend. read more

I had a wonderful time at Hotel Washington. I was greeted by Jamal at the front desk a little past my intended check in time due to flight delays. I wanted to make sure my room had a beautiful tub so that I could relax which he informed me that it did not, only the suites do. Something to keep note of as I did book via a third party service (Booking.com) which had contradictory information. However, Jamal offered to upgrade my room at a discounted price which I really appreciated and of course I had to accept. He also made sure to extend any suggestions or help I needed. I did make reservations at the rooftop bar about 2 weeks in advance, which requires a deposit of about $53 to reserve a table. It does note that this balance will be applied to your bill upon arrival/purchase. This was a Friday night around 8:30 p.m. so mind you, the bar was very lively! Good selection of top hits were played, both old and new. I ordered the salmon dish with a lemongrass creme brûlée for dessert. To be honest, both were just alright to me. I would not order the dessert again, but note the menu is limited! The salmon was cooked very well but the flavor was lacking. I was a party of one and I did notice that it took a bit of time for someone to greet me and even bring me a glass of water or to ensure I had the proper table candle settings versus tables that were sat after me, occupied by couples. My waiter was nice but when I was approached by a stranger that was friendly, that I did eventually allow to take a seat at my table out of courtesy ONLY, my waiter took it upon himself to cancel my reservation that I had made in advance for one to then go and re-add a reservation for two causing multiple charges on my card. That was very unnecessary in my opinion, especially without clarifying with me as the client prior to making the adjustment. I did not return Saturday night although from the sounds I heard in my room on the seventh floor, it was once again jumping! The hotel was very modern. But I don't believe they have any vending machines on the guest floors; at least not the seventh. But I could see myself staying here when I return to D.C. The location is prime, close to many top attractions. Even if you did want to Uber instead of walk, the cost is reasonable. Starbucks and the Corner Bakery are both about 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel and the Reagan airport about 15 minutes. It really does have many great picture opportunities in hotel and the natural beauty in its appearance and design is a sight to see. Overall satisfied with my stay. read more

I really had a great experience at the Spa at Hotel Washington, but it was ruined upon leaving. I was gifted a gift certificate for the spa from a friend at my bridal shower. I scheduled a 50 minute massage plus 2 add-ons for the Tuesday after my wedding. My wedding came and went (it was magical) and I was excited for some relaxation from the massage. I drove to the hotel, and being that it was a weekday morning, parking was tough. I received a call from the Spa and they let me know that they validate parking, so I could use the valet. SCORE! I swung around, left my car with the valet, and was off to the spa. The place was nice. Nothing too fancy, but it was fresh and clean. The girl at the front desk, Farrah (who I assumed was the one that called me) was super nice and gave me a rundown of everything I could expect. I was then brought to the massage room by my masseuse, Tiarra. Tiarra was so sweet and asked me questions prior to starting so she could give me the correct treatment. My massage was good. Tiarra offered me a complimentary glass of champagne since I had just gotten married and I happily accepted it. The reason for my low rating is because upon leaving and giving my ticket to valet, I was rudely told that it would be $25. I was confused because one guy took my ticket and then out of nowhere, another little man sternly told me "$25". I smiled at him because I thought he was joking, since I was told they validated. He never cracked a smile and yelled at me to pay the $25. He then shows me the validation sticker which indeed read $25. This was super annoying because I have spent enough money on the wedding lol. And I already gave the masseuse a $50 tip. Of course I paid it, but I didn't like it at all. Since when does parking validation not cover the entire cost? One of the nicer valet guys jokingly said that the spa is always lying to people. Apparently their "validation" is just a $10 discount. They need to stop that and be up front with their patrons about their parking policies. read more

This review is specific to the Spa! I'm so glad that we found this place! It is very pricey but well worth it! With that said, the dressing area was really tight and it was very warm inside. Thankfully I knew most of the ladies in there, because we were bumping all into each other while changing into our robes. I didn't have to wait long and the guy that did my body treatment was on time. I had the Cellu-Sculpt 3 in 1 Treatment and it was awesome. I feel bad because I forgot the Technician's name, but he's been there a while and mentioned that he does the training for that particular service. Jackpot! I finished with a pedicure. It was a no frills pedicure but the polish lasted a long time. If my nails didn't grow, the polish would still look good. Overall, this was one of my better spa experiences! read more

This week, I stayed at the W for the first time in many years. It's been recently renovated and the new decor is very hip and trendy. Upon check in, I was pleasantly greeted by the doorman and the front desk staff. Because I'm a titanium level Marriott member, I was given an upgraded room. Among the pluses, my room had a huge TV...it took up about half of the bedroom area wall. Options on the TV include Netflix (common at Marriott properties) and Amazon Prime. The hotel is close to a lot of the key tourist sites...about two blocks from the White House, and there are many nearby dining choices as well as several in house dining options. The room has free bottled water and offers a mini bar. The hotel has a spa and a fitness center. The minuses - my room was TINY, barely bigger than the bed itself. In the renovation, they eliminated closets I guess.... now there's two short clothing bars in a wall nook, with no door, so I spent the week staring at my suits. If the wife was with me, one of us wouldn't be hanging our clothes....just not enough space for two. In the renovated bathroom, the sink is tiny, probably less than 12" in diameter. The mere act of shaving caused me to leave a watery mess all over the counter. In the bathroom....this was weird, they decided to put a little shelf over the toilet upon which they put two drinking glasses. Not sure I want to drink out of a glass that's parked over the toilet. Finally, as a elevated status member of Marriott Bonvoy, I'm usually able to score some free food and/or drinks in the hotel's concierge lounge...a nice perk when traveling. The W doesn't have one. In short, it was a cool looking hotel in a good location....but overpriced/overrated for what they offer the business or pleasure traveler. After spending my work week in a closet with a TV on the wall, I don't think I'll come back unless I have to. I'd much rather stay around the corner at the JW Marriott...where the rooms are cheaper, easier to get, bigger, and the breakfast buffet is free for Bonvoy members. read more

I arrived with a group of eight people and our rooms are paid for by my company. I was on the third floor and the room smells bad. Rancid. A mixture of sewage and stale bread. Unfortunately they were fully booked so I could not change rooms and we had to go to a gala. The second day I came back to the room and the smell was still bad. I asked a maintenance man in the hallway to check it out and he poured some stuff down the drain and said it might be bacteria. I spoke with a housekeeping person who showed me that this is a frequent complaint about this room and they have an odor "brick" (see photo) under the side table by the bed. Clearly that doesn't work. She sprayed disinfectant all over the rug. This room needs to be cleaned. I would suggest the rug be replaced. I called downstairs and again they were not at all surprised. If you walk in a room here and it smells go downstairs downstairs immediately and tell them you need another room. read more

My sorority hosted our convention at the W, so I have a few viewpoints. *Rooms: my room was first night was really spacious! The bathroom was neat -- there was 1 floor for the shower & toilet area. It worked out fine obviously, but it was interesting when you first see it! The next day I checked into my wknd room. It was a bit smaller, but I had a City view. I will say -- the sinks are pretty small. I constantly had water all over the sink because here was no way to keep it contained. The mirrors were cool, they came with lighting you could turn on/off as well as a magnifying mirror! *Event spaces: we used the Great Room, Studio, and Altitude. Each space was perfect for each event. The staff was super helpful making sure everything was set and the temp was just right. They have Alamo's everything in house, which makes event planning that much easier! *Food: all of the food I ate was catered in house but not sure if it's all on the menus of the internal restaurants. Nonetheless -- the food was GREAT!!! My favorite has to be the banquet food, the only food I got photos of. Who knew I'd like leek and onion salad?! The entree, to die for! The breakfast was also good, I loved the fuel juices/smoothies that were available. *POV rooftop: so if you stay in the hotel you get quicker access to the roof. So that was a bonus. The view is great, the lighting at night is beautiful. The drinks were good -- typically priced for a DC bar. I also loved the music choice, a mix of everything. This is supposed to be a nice hotel. We booked using booking.com. Upon checkin the staff put us into one of the worst possible rooms where there is a view of full blocked stone walls on the three sides when our window is the 4th side. I can not imagine that was the only room available at the moment we were checking in. This very unfriendly staff and hotel ruined our stay in DC on this trip. Our room was always so dark for absolutely zero sunshine could be seen from our room at all. Despite the fact I chose this hotel for its proximity to the White House and to see the Washington monument we could only see walls and stones from our room. The hotel did not even make the review feature available to me after our visit. How rude and disrespectful to take away our ability to share this bad experience openly to other potential travels? Recommend at booking to contact the hotel to ensure you don't get put into a room like that. No visitors of DC should have to deal with that depressing room. Those rooms exist in the hotel but they should only be used for storage or for people booked at a huge discount price which was not the case for us. read more

This review is for the nail / spa services. I had never gotten a spa mani and pedicure before so decided to splurge for my birthday but I'll be sticking with just regular salons from now on. Although you gotta go into a hotel spa knowing the prices are elevated just because, the cost of services just wasn't justified. For a shellac manicure and pedicure with callous treatment it came out to $216. Also know that they charge an automatic gratuity of 20%. Hopefully that goes back to the staff but in the past I have always preferred to tip in cash and give the gratuity to them directly, so I'm not a fan of this change in policy. As to the quality, there wasn't anything special in particular about either the mani or pedi. The technician was friendly and professional and used nice products and lotions but after just three days my nails already started chipping badly. With gel manicures I get my nails usually last three weeks+. The massage was alright but again, assumed that it would have lasted a little longer given the price point. Lastly, the chair wasn't a massage chair with vibration and I found it uncomfortable for the hour-long pedicure. The services took a long time but I feel like that was mostly for show to justify the cost because I've gotten better quality salon services for places that were quick but efficient. read more

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Washington! The hotel is clean, comfortable, and the museums and sights are all within walking distance. Brandon at the front desk was a lifesaver. We checked in around 3pm and were given room 447, very itty bitty small. Initially we were going to just stay in room until I did a search on the hotel website and found the rate for king size bed was less than what we were paying. I went back to front desk and Brandon explained the fluctuating in prices but he changed our room. The downside to our stay was attending the "July 4th Firework at the Magnificent Vue Rooftop" event and it wasn't magnificent!! Since we were staying at the hotel we thought it would be a great idea instead of fighting the crowds at the National mall. The food and music were ok. Everything was a buffet style (hotdogs and hamburgers) Drinks were decent but pricey! The event was a standup event unless you paid for high dollar tables, which we were ok with, HOWEVER, there isn't a view unless you pay for the tables. The rooftop isn't a rooftop it's the last floor of the hotel and you look out through windows or a crowed mezzanine. The event was not worth the money!! We actually left and went to the Washington Monument which was perfect. Due to this event and advisement we will probably not stay here again. read more

My recent stay at the Hotel Washington, located at an enviable address of 515 15th St. NW, Washington DC, right next to the White House, was an experience that starkly contrasted the grandeur of its surroundings. With its aesthetically pleasing architecture and the promise of spectacular views, one might expect a service level to match. Unfortunately, the reality couldn't be further from this expectation. From the moment of arrival, it became apparent that the hotel's staff suffer from a severe case of entitlement, with professionalism seemingly a foreign concept. Interactions felt cold, unwelcoming, and devoid of the warmth or efficiency one would anticipate at such a prestigious location. This was not just a one-off encounter but a consistent theme throughout my stay, suggesting a systemic issue rather than isolated incidents. Compounding this disappointment was the accommodation itself. Describing the rooms as 'closet-sized' might actually be generous. The lack of space was palpable, with "minimal" barely beginning to describe the amenities provided. In a city where space is at a premium, one might understand smaller rooms, but not at the rates charged here. The expectation of basic inclusions like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash seems reasonable, yet here, they appeared to be considered extravagant extras. The dining experience did little to redeem the hotel. The quality of the food and drinks could kindly be likened to what one might expect from a home economics class in the 1980s - a far cry from the culinary excellence one would anticipate in such a prime location. It seemed as if every opportunity to delight and surprise guests was bypassed in favor of cutting corners and reducing costs. While the views of the White House and the surrounding area were indeed spectacular, they are but a small consolation in the grand scheme of things. A view cannot compensate for the lack of hospitality, comfort, and service which are the hallmarks of a quality hotel experience. Hotel Washington is a classic case of missed opportunities and misplaced priorities. With its prime location and the inherent potential of the building itself, it could offer so much more. Instead, guests are left feeling underwhelmed and undervalued. The only lasting impression is one of extreme disappointment, a sentiment that no view, no matter how breathtaking, can ameliorate. LOVE LOVE LOVE The Rooftop bar! We had a great time at the rooftop bar! The rooftop bar is very cool, it's a all open air bar, that overlooks the Whitehouse, the Capital Building, Washington monument and the national mall. We met up with some friends here, tossed back some very strong G&T's catching up, b4 we bounced over to Momofuku for dinner. The weather was perfect & the service was great. It's truly a lovely place. The views of the White House all lit up at night are breathtaking. If your in DC, this is a must visit. Can't wait to return. read more

Last weekend I stayed here for my birthday. This was above and beyond my expectations! Kudos to the staff. Randall at the front desk was so welcoming and kind; he even sent a bottle of champagne and lovely note to the room for my birthday. Wow! The room I stayed in was newly renovated and beautiful. The shower and light up mirrors are l gorgeous and I love how roomy the bathroom is for a city hotel. Decor is on point and the entire ambiance is just very modern and sleek. I had left my dress in my car (that I had valeted) and their valet team was so helpful, quick and just genuinely kind helping me to get it. When I left the next day, they have a texting service for the valet and it was very efficient! The manager I spoke with while waiting for my dress, was telling me about all of the changes and renovations the hotel will have. It's going to be stunning! Can't wait to stay again. read more

We attended the New Years Eve event and we not allowed to enter because we didn't have the original credit card with us. The manager was running g around and would not address our issue. We asked security to find him for us and that we were having f issues getting in. They said welcome to the club. Once in, our seating was excellent, the view was amazing and the DJ was awesome. The advertised food was basically non existent and the four bites of passed hors d'oeuvres were chalky, dry and pitiful. Food should not have been advertised. We had fun but would not recommend it due to the management of the event and the really bad food. read more

Bottom Line: A quirky hotel super convenient to DC landmarks that is probably best known for its rooftop bar. My husband and I stayed at the W for a few nights since we got married at the Old Ebbit Grill next door. As a Marriott/SPG Platinum member I often get upgrades but the W gave us a gorgeous, amazing corner room suite with views of landmarks like the Washington Monument, the White House (sorta) and the Air Force Memorial. We really enjoyed watching the POTUS motorcade come and go as well as Marine One. Aside from giving us an awesome room, they showered us with gifts of cheese, champagne and strawberries. They really made us feel special on our wedding weekend and we certainly could not have been treated better! We are very appreciative and grateful for the luxurious experience and mailed a thank you note to the hotel. What prevents this from being a five-star review is that my uncle-in-law wanted to take photo of my husband and I in the lobby and was quickly approached and was told he couldn't take photos with anything larger than a cell phone camera. We explained that he just wanted a quick picture or two for personal use an that he wasn't a professional photographer or anything but we were told "cell phones only." We were on our way out the door and didn't have time to fight that battle with someone who perhaps was more reasonable or empowered so we left and found an opportunity for him to get a picture later. Lame. I really like that the W Washington DC is a historic building. Since it is has been repurposed, there is definitely some character to the space like high ceilings, old elevators and pretty moldings. I really enjoyed the character of the building. Historic or not, I think the W is best known for POV, its rooftop bar. We didn't have a great experience up there and I've captured my review for that under the POV web page. Given that there is a trendy rooftop bar, the lobby can be a bit crazy. At least on the weekends, a DJ plays music in the lobby and there is a long line of people pre-drinking and waiting to get on the rooftop. Luckily, as hotel guests, we were given priority for an elevator. I will say that the hotel staff does do a good job of managing the weekend clubbing crowd and providing overnight guests with the right-of-way. I don't know that I would stay here again but perhaps with the right rate or with the use of points I would come back to check out the renovations and reminisce about my DC wedding weekend. read more

Nice enough hotel overall in terms of aesthetics but I wouldn't stay here again based solely off the CLUB advertised as a rooftop bar. We had the unfortunate luck of being on the 10th floor, right below the club, whose music and people can be heard late into the night. The club has the same elevator access as paying guests do, we had to wait in line a few times to get to our room amongst those just headed to the club, though they did accommodate us when there was an attendant checking id's behind the roped off line (only late at night). The room/bathroom is tiny, which I wouldn't mind had it been advertised as such - I would attribute this to a pod-style hotel (that I've chosen and enjoyed in the past but was not anticipating here). The sink is so small I could only set my toothbrush there, my toiletries bag had to sit on the floor. The only thing that would get 5 stars from me is location. Do not stay here! Overpriced and no amenities. Very disappointing. Again, do not stay here.

I've stayed at less expensive hotels that offered way more space and better service. To be honest I give it 3 stars for cleanliness and hotel location. Hotel is close to a lot of attractions and restaurants. The hotel also offer a rooftop bar which was really nice especially if you're getting in late and want to hangout somewhere not too far. The room itself was very small. My husband and I was supposed to be in a room with a Queen bed but it felt and looked like a full size bed. The sink is what bothered me the most... literally I felt like I was in a cruise ship bathroom. The sink space was extra, extra small.
