I am a Houlihan's fan. I like their menu a lot. All of the food tastes fresh made. The servers are usually friendly. This location has a large dining room and a bar seating area that can handle crowds. Even at busy times I have found the wait for a sea and food delivery to be reasonable. If I had to pick a favorite Houlihan's location, I'd have to pick the Route 17 Mahwah restaurant. read more

I have been here several times and it's always been good,but for last night Went there for dinner about 6 pm. Got seated right away,plenty of tables. However it took at least 20 minutes for our waitress to come over to us. I thought she must have had tables in another section and didn't see us, but no she was the same waitress who had been at the table next to us at least 3 times, while we waited. She never noticed us. When I walked I saw the sign for specials , I saw two drink specials one for $5 mule drinks, and one for $4 margaritas. I was so psyched, I had wanted a margarita and it was the special! I asked waitress if all margaritas were $4 or just basic, she didn't know,asked another waiter he thought all but wasn't sure. She was going to check and let me know. She came back, said they were not on special Friday,but would be Saturday. Oh, I figured I read sign wrong and it was specials for cinco de mayo. So I had my margarita, anyway. When leaving restaurant I looked at the sign again, it was the specials for Friday night, but the margarita special was erased now! I was angry but at that point I had finished my meal, paid and was walking out so I didn't complain. But that was very poor on Houlihans part. Very disappointed to say the least. read more

Laura is The best!! She's very attentive, polite, and always makes sure my drinks never run out! Also great ambience/atmosphere, lots of people; gets crowded at times, which can delay the arrival of your drinks, but not a biggie. Been here about 10x so far and why do I keep coming back you might ask? Well, for the reasons stated above. Also, you can't beat their happy hours prices from 4pm - 3am. The food is pretty good, but the service is excellent. It is very consistent and if there are ever any problems, the managers are quick to fix the problem. The servers are always quick and attentive. I enjoy eating in the bar area for appetizers and drinks, and can usually find a quiet spot there. read more

Thursday 7/29/14 went to this restaurant and we went to open the silverware to my surprise they were filthy with food particles still stuck on the knives and forks I decided to not say anything but I reached for another silverware from the table next to us and again the silverware was just as gross. If any other vegans get stuck going here like I did, that is what I recommend getting without the sour cream and cheese. This is absolutely one of the worst places I have ever been. As soon as I walked in with my family the hostess was in the front with 3 other employees just talking amoung at themselves. It took about 2 minutes for them to even acknowledge our presence. Once they did they told us they didn't have my room for us at the restaurant if if they did we would have to wait 45 minutes. This happened 12/8/16, and half the restaurant was empty. We could physically see empty booths and tables. It was an overall bad experience. I was not the only one that noticed it, everyone did. This started as a great experience this evening but quickly deteriorated. My husband and I wanted a quick dinner after leaving the Apollo Theater in Harlem so we stopped at Houlihan's. We were quickly seated and our server immediately came to our table and took drink orders. We ordered an appetizer to share and then we started to go downhill. After we ordered the appetizer, the server disappeared for quite a while. When she returned, she finally took our entree orders and then disappeared again. Another server brought out the appetizer and it was tasty. The server came, took our used dishes, and disappeared again. Finally our entrees came out and well...they left much to be desired. My French Dip sandwich was cold; because the dip was hot, I let it to. My husband had the 612 burger that purported to have cheese inside but it did not. He was so tired that he just added ketchup and kept it moving. The final straw was when we asked for the check. The server gave us the check and then immediately went to a table next to us to speak to her friend. My husband reviewed the bill and placed his debit card in the folder. He held it up to our server but she did not move. She acknowledged him but continued to talk to her friend. Fifteen minutes later, I stopped another server and asked him if he could ask our server to process our check. He was very pleasant and cajoled her to come to our table. Our server apologizes for the delay and kept moving. She never said have a great night or anything of the sort. Houlihan's is not a go to for us but we figured we would try it and maybe find a new place for quick dinners. WRONG!!! Our server was rude and the food was less than mediocre. The only reason why I gave this any stars is because the appetizer was yummy. I went here on Valentine's Day and I ordered jumbo crabcakes, which I thought had a great taste and were clearly made from actual crab, rather than imitation. However, they were definitely not "jumbo" sized, as they were rather small, although they were very filling. I was given very tasty Belgian chocolates at the end as well. We came here to use our gift card and free appetizer card that we had received from a previous bad experience at another Houlihan's and were pleasantly accomadated. As usual it was very quite at this location, which I really like. We were sat promptly and a waitress came to the table right away. We brought our lively and active two year old with us who was quite excited to be sitting in the booths for some reason. My boyfriend got the bacon cheese burger with fries which was very tasty as usual. I got the buffalo chicken fingers which were amazing as always and my daughter got the kids pizza. I asked the waitress if they could possibly put her pizza in the fridge for a few minutes before it came out just because it usually comes out so hot that she has to wait about 10-15 minutes to eat it and as most people know a hungry 2 year old will do no such thing... It came out at a perfect temperature which was awesome... We alerted the waitress that we had a gift certificate and a free app coupon and she got the manager, Tyrone who was more then willing to accept both and even extend the expiration date we had on another coupon that we were planning to use that night. The food was great and the service quick and very friendly. Tyrone was more then wonderful. I also loved that there was no wait and the roar of the usually noisy bar could not be heard from our table. It was a pleasant experience and I will be returning! Could've been purchased from ShopRite's hoagie/bread section. Overall the sandwich was cold as f*ck and the fries were old and crappy and mushy. Didnt even finish it-- literally had two bites. Also had the Spinach Dip appetizer that I always hear people rant and rave about. One word: Garbage. I came for lunch and the whole experience took so long. I had the soup and salad combo and my wife, who met me for lunch was having the chicken fingers lunch special, and added a potato soup. What I didn't understand is why did she got her potato soup, and I was sitting there for almost 10 minutes for either my soup or salad. When I asked the server about it he said, " oh I put it together with her food". I mean really, come on it doesn't take a genius to hand me my soup or salad while my partner has her soup. The. When the soup did come out it was like warm and hardly had any cheese, probably because it was sitting in the window for several minutes. Came here for lunch and first ordered the potato bacon soup that i love. I then had the buffalo bleu cheese salad that i highly recommend. The waitress was nice enough to give extra sauce on the side. Even though i didn't order the wings for myself, next time i plan too. They weren't extremely spicy and had enough sauce on them. Compared to other places where wings are so dry. Only thing that drove me crazy was that even though it was hot out they had the AC blowing so hard i felt like it was winter in there. There are a lot of places that serve bar food but to me this is one of the best. We drive over a half hour to eat here. Staff is friendly. Appetizers are great. Some of my favorites are the Thai chicken wings flat bread pizza potato soup. But what keeps us coming back is the stuffed shrooms!!! Stuffed with cream cheese served with creamy horseradish I have never had anything like it anywhere else. For entrees all the burgers chicken sandwiches are tasty. The scallops never disappoint. But my favorite is the prime rib. The only problem is it can get busy and you have to wait. They don't really take reservations but you can cell ahead and put your name on a list to shorten your edit on weekend. read more

I have allergies to certain alcohol and one drink of the wrong stuff leaves me bed ridden the next day. Thank goodness we were sitting in the bar area because I watched the female bartender use Majorska vodka in both of our drinks.
