    Pork bun

Yum! Beautiful inside! We sat at the bar and the Japanese greetings by the staff were warm and welcoming. Pork bun was warm and perfectly a little sweet and yummy. Birria ramen was great! So flavorful and not oily like other ramens I've had. The meat was so tender. Only complaint is I would've liked more meat! I added tons of hot sauce since I like spice and I so enjoyed this! Highly recommend

    - Parking is shared with the rest of Riverside Mall and can be difficult during busy times - The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of tables and bar seating; the atmosphere is modern, clean, and comfortable - Our waiter was friendly and attentive throughout the meal; the only downside was a noticeable delay between the kids' meals arriving and the ramen entrées - The food was excellent--the ramens featured perfectly chewy, bouncy noodles, and the broths were rich and full of depth; a nice touch that fresh garlic is complimentary--they bring out a jar of whole garlic cloves with a garlic press so you can add as much as you'd like; while other add-on toppings can be a bit pricey, the overall quality was impressive; the kids' meals were especially generous, including a bowl of ramen with green onions and corn, a chicken chashu rice cup with wood ear mushrooms, two pieces of crispy chicken, fries, fresh greens, an orange slice, a lollipop, and vanilla ice cream for dessert :)

THE FOOD ---------------- + JINYA Tonkotsu Black - Pork broth was very good and thin ramen noodles were excellent. Everything was very flavorful, but not too salty, including the tender pork chashu. + Creamy Tonkotsu Ramen - Pork and soy broth was thick, creamy, not overly salty and flavorful - basically super delicious! Pork chashu was tender, egg was excellent and thin ramen noodles were cooked perfectly. + Kids Meal Ramen - Hugeeee order for kids. Chicken ramen came with green onion and corn and was pretty tasty. There was also a chicken chashu rice, crispy chicken, french fries, orange slice, and dum dum lollipop! Rice and crispy chicken were very good. + Pork Gyoza - Very well cooked and delicious pot stickers. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Waiter was courteous and friendly. He was also very informative by telling us of the most popular items. - Kids meals arrived shortly after we ordered, but it took the ramen bowls quite a while to arrive. - Didn't seem like there was a hostess as we waited a few minutes before someone greeted us, but they could have been shortstaffed. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Interior was very clean, modern, super spacious and had many tables. Tables were verrrrry well-spaced out with plenty of walking room. + Large private parking lot shared with the rest of the Riverside Mall. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon at 12 PM - possibly because kids under 12 were eating free with every adult meal purchased. There was a consistent stream of customers, specifically families, coming in to eat. Wasn't at full capacity, but most of the tables were occupied.

Jinya is the latest addition to the Riverside mall in Hackensack. It's been couple of weeks since they opened, so we decided to try it out for Saturday lunch. The interior was stunning, with gorgeous decors, lights, ambiance and a gorgeous bar. Upon arriving around quarter past 11am, the restaurant had only few guests. We got a table right away after checking-in with the host. The menu had plenty of Japanese appetizers, ramens, rice bowls, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We started with the takoyaki, that was the best takoyaki I have ever seen. The fried octopus balls were sitting on top of egg yolk mixed with the sauce. It was so delicious. For entree we got the Tonkatsu Black and Tan Tan Men ramens. Both ramens had delicious broth, dense and full of flavor. The noodles were thin and the meat was well prepared. My daughter's kid's meal also had noodles, rice, chicken, fruit, candy and ice cream, a full platter for only $11. That was one of the best kid's meal deal I ever saw. We also ordered mocktails J Girl (blood orange, strawberry) and Match Lychee lemonade. The drinks were also top quality. Our server was super nice. After she found out it was our first time at Jinya, she gave a breakdown of the menu. Also checked on us many times. The dishes came out in short time. Our table was also cleaned once we finished eating. Overall we were happy with the experience and were elated to have such an upscale ramen place near us. We signed up for Jinya's reward account to collect the points for our visit, since we know we will be back soon.

Finally a new restaurant with different cuisine opened up in Riverside mall. JINYA serves ramen, Japanese dishes and cocktails. Contemporary and modern design. Friendly staff. Very attentive. She went through the menu with us since it was our first time. We had JINYA Tonkotsu Black, takoyaki, Tan Tan noodle and kids meal. I love the tonkotsu ramen. The ramen texture is good (firm). Broth is rich. The black garlic oil on top gives another boost for flavor. Kids meal portion is big. It includes ramen with corns and scallions. Chicken on top of rice (this one is really dry, didn't like it). 2 karage with salad and a lollipop. The dessert is ice cream. We also tried J Girl and Matcha lychee lemonade. Both are good. Overall a great addition to the mall.

Food was terrific and the service was great! I enjoyed it so much- plenty of vegan options (faux meat options made the dishes even better!). I felt like I was able to eat outside the box and not get stuck with just a pasta dish or salad. Can't wait to go back! Neil was our server and was a lot of fun to talk to....and, he was attentive and kind. Highly recommend!!

I was lucky to snag two seats at the bar and enjoyed a lychee martini and the tokontsu black. Seems like a super popular place to dine at the mall, so do expect a wait. It's definitely worth it! And they have a huge variety of food options if you are dining with women that may not want to have ramen.

We came here on a rainy Sunday. First I did not know that on Sundays the inside of the mall is closed. You can only enter the restaurant through the outside entrance. We didn't have a reservation and got there around 2 and it was very busy. We were seated in a few minutes but almost every table we saw was filled. I had the lychee martini which was a show! They brought over a gun to put a big bubble on top. Food was good. I didn't care for the tuna. I wouldn't get that again. I really liked the ramen and can't wait to try more. They have a happy hour everyday which looked like something we would try!

Tried to put a bad experience behind me and gave this place a second chance on Memorial Day during happy hour, after shopping at Riverside Square Mall. We ordered: lychee martini, spicy orange whiskey, spicy salmon tacos, crispy rice, fried chicken, and matcha crème brûlée. The food was noticeably better this time -- a solid 4/5. The atmosphere, however, was a different story. The restaurant was packed with underage kids and their parents, thanks to a "kids eat free" promotion. The result was a surreal clash of thumping club music with crying babies and children sprinting around like it's Nickelodeon Park. Ambiance: 1/5

Amazing ramen and it's their new location at the Riverside mall! So pretty great service and delish food!

Super stoked that this place opened in Hackensack! I was in town for a visit and stopped in for lunch...and had a lovely time slurping away - we ordered the tonkotsu black and it is always a bowl that hits the spot and has the J Girl mocktail that made it all fabulous! Join the Jinya rewards program as this is a new program and I'll be racking up points at all the other locations that I visit!

Tried out JINYA last night for dinner! Staff were so friendly, helpful, and kind and despite being busy our food and drinks came out fast. Inside is very clean and maintained well. The food and drinks were excellent. We highly recommend the cucumber salad, shrimp tempura and crispy spicy tuna rice. We all enjoyed our ramen. I highly recommend it and I'd encourage you to try!

What started as a handful of niche noodle shops is now a full-on culinary movement. All across Jersey, ramen chefs are crafting rich broths, house-made noodles, and inventive toppings that delight the senses. Located on State Street in Hackensack, I frequent this establishment numerous times during the year. Ramen Azuma pours out their soul in preparing perfectly the classic Japanese cuisine. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the staff and got an empty table by the window inside their cozy and inviting vibe. Their menu features a wide selection of ramen, curry, and appetizers. I decided on their newest edition--Wonton Ramen and 3 pieces of Fried Chicken. The savory ramen soup was filled with shrimp wontons. Even though they were very thin wonton wrappers with a smaller amount of filling, they tasted consistent with other shrimp wontons from past restaurants, accompanied by Menma Bamboo, Scallions, and Egg. The Fried Chicken was well seasoned. The food overall remained authentic and incredibly flavorful and on point. The portion was very generous. Friendly service, and the price was reasonable. Make sure one comes on an empty stomach.

My dining partner and I were seated rather quickly. Our server took our drink orders and came back promptly so we could order our food. The menu is pretty extensive but we ordered an assortment of skewers and a bowl of ramen to share. The skewers came out little by little; about 3 skewers per plate. They didn't come all at once so I assume they bring them out as they finish getting grilled. The chicken heart was some of the best I've ever had. I'm not sure if it's the way it was sliced, the seasoning, or just everything about it but I wish we ordered more. The tail skewer was another standout. It had so much crunch that it was almost like it was fried. The flavors were rich and varied. Each skewer cost upwards of $4 so that's a bummer. Unfortunately the ramen wasn't so great. Not terrible, but not great either. Especially not great for $19. Not my first choice for ramen. Is it the most bang for your buck? Certainly not. But I did enjoy my meal and in the end, that's what matters.

The dining area is in rough shape -- cracked wood, dusty interior, and a generally run-down vibe that makes it feel borderline dirty rather than "casual." Service was also frustrating. Our servers couldn't answer basic questions about the menu, which is already hard to follow if you're not familiar with Japanese terms. It left us feeling lost rather than guided. On top of that, the pricing is steep for the suburbs -- $5-$8 per skewer adds up really quickly, and it just didn't feel worth it given the atmosphere and service. All the yakitori was decent but nothing mind blowing, smaller servings and overly salty. To make matters worse, the tap water was awful -- honestly undrinkable. Look at my picture I'm shocked they thought this was acceptable to bring to our table. The food itself may be authentic, but everything else about the experience dragged it down. Unfortunately, not somewhere I'd come back to.
