Yum! Beautiful inside! We sat at the bar and the Japanese greetings by the staff were warm and welcoming. Pork bun was warm and perfectly a little sweet and yummy. Birria ramen was great! Everything was very flavorful, but not too salty, including the tender pork chashu. + Creamy Tonkotsu Ramen - Pork and soy broth was thick, creamy, not overly salty and flavorful - basically super delicious! Pork chashu was tender, egg was excellent and thin ramen noodles were cooked perfectly. + Kids Meal Ramen - Hugeeee order for kids. Chicken ramen came with green onion and corn and was pretty tasty. There was also a chicken chashu rice, crispy chicken, french fries, orange slice, and dum dum lollipop! Rice and crispy chicken were very good. + Pork Gyoza - Very well cooked and delicious pot stickers. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Waiter was courteous and friendly. He was also very informative by telling us of the most popular items. - Kids meals arrived shortly after we ordered, but it took the ramen bowls quite a while to arrive. - Didn't seem like there was a hostess as we waited a few minutes before someone greeted us, but they could have been shortstaffed. Jinya is the latest addition to the Riverside mall in Hackensack. It's been couple of weeks since they opened, so we decided to try it out for Saturday lunch. The interior was stunning, with gorgeous decors, lights, ambiance and a gorgeous bar. Upon arriving around quarter past 11am, the restaurant had only few guests. We got a table right away after checking-in with the host. The menu had plenty of Japanese appetizers, ramens, rice bowls, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We started with the takoyaki, that was the best takoyaki I have ever seen. The fried octopus balls were sitting on top of egg yolk mixed with the sauce. It was so delicious. For entree we got the Tonkatsu Black and Tan Tan Men ramens. Both ramens had delicious broth, dense and full of flavor. The noodles were thin and the meat was well prepared. My daughter's kid's meal also had noodles, rice, chicken, fruit, candy and ice cream, a full platter for only $11. That was one of the best kid's meal deal I ever saw. We also ordered mocktails J Girl (blood orange, strawberry) and Match Lychee lemonade. The drinks were also top quality. Our server was super nice. After she found out it was our first time at Jinya, she gave a breakdown of the menu. Also checked on us many times. The dishes came out in short time. Our table was also cleaned once we finished eating. Overall we were happy with the experience and were elated to have such an upscale ramen place near us. Finally a new restaurant with different cuisine opened up in Riverside mall. JINYA serves ramen, Japanese dishes and cocktails. Contemporary and modern design. Friendly staff. Very attentive. She went through the menu with us since it was our first time. We had JINYA Tonkotsu Black, takoyaki, Tan Tan noodle and kids meal. I love the tonkotsu ramen. The ramen texture is good (firm). Broth is rich. The black garlic oil on top gives another boost for flavor. Kids meal portion is big. It includes ramen with corns and scallions. Chicken on top of rice (this one is really dry, didn't like it). 2 karage with salad and a lollipop. The dessert is ice cream. We also tried J Girl and Matcha lychee lemonade. Both are good. No photos this time --- just enjoying the vibes. However, had to give this place a quick review. I tried calling in a reservation, but they said they couldn't hold on to it. In any case, I went to Jinya --- asked for a table for 4 --- and was immediately seated. That was nice. Brandon was our server last night, and he couldn't have been any friendlier. Instantly vibed, and brought out our food in a timely manner. For apps, we tried several items: the spicy creamy shrimp tempura, crispy rice with spicy tuna, and (of course) an order of takoyaki (A MUST). What impressed me is that everything looked like the menu photo. For the entree, I had to get (because I'm a SPICE GUY) the Premium Tonkatsu Red ($22). Any spice level between 1-6 is part of that price. If you request anything from Spice Levels 7-10, it will be an additional charge per upgrade. I stuck to Level 6 to see their and my spice tolerance. My ramen rocked. It was a nice red hue, spice level maybe a tad above shin ramen, but the broth was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. My entire party asked for "KAEDAMA" --- which is an extra serving of noodles after you finish the first round. It's about $3.50 for an extra serving of thick ramen noodles .Everything looked delicious and was delicious. We sat and enjoyed the dinner till closing. I was lucky to snag two seats at the bar and enjoyed a lychee martini and the tokontsu black. Seems like a super popular place to dine at the mall, so do expect a wait. It's definitely worth it! We came here on a rainy Sunday. First I did not know that on Sundays the inside of the mall is closed. You can only enter the restaurant through the outside entrance. We didn't have a reservation and got there around 2 and it was very busy. We were seated in a few minutes but almost every table we saw was filled. I had the lychee martini which was a show! They brought over a gun to put a big bubble on top. Food was good. I didn't care for the tuna. I wouldn't get that again. I really liked the ramen and can't wait to try more. Tried to put a bad experience behind me and gave this place a second chance on Memorial Day during happy hour, after shopping at Riverside Square Mall. We ordered: lychee martini, spicy orange whiskey, spicy salmon tacos, crispy rice, fried chicken, and matcha crème brûlée. The food was noticeably better this time -- a solid 4/5. The atmosphere, however, was a different story. The restaurant was packed with underage kids and their parents, thanks to a "kids eat free" promotion. We arbitrarily visited this restaurant based on a yelp search for restaurants in Hackensack. Looking up this place in more depth afterwards, turns out this is a very large, Los Angeles-based ramen chain with locations all across the US. Anyway, the ambiance felt like flashy ramen chain in a shopping mall. It was very crowded; our table was uncomfortably close to the one next to us. Pottery barn kids outside the window. Loud pop music being played. The food was flashy as well, but maintained authenticity. The takoyaki was smothered in takoyaki sauce and mayo, so much that we felt inclined to wipe some of the sauce off prior to consumption. The Jinya bun (pork bao) was meant to be smothered in the same, but we saw the pictures and told the waiter no mayo. The tonkotsu ramen was very good. The noodles were cooked the correct amount, the meat was tender, the egg was slightly undercooked, which it should be. The soup had great depth of flavor, though maybe a bit too garlicky for my taste. The kids meal consisted of ramen, a rice bowl, karaage (fried chicken), french fries and a dum dum lollipop?? The food is good. I'm from SoCal, so been to the OG Cali one in Studio City. I've tried the one in Totowa; it was alright. This one was nice. I liked the vibe/environment. The birria ramen I ordered was delicious. My kiddo enjoyed his kid meal. The reason why I took off two stars was because my husband has dietary/health restrictions and he was clear about his order (spicy creamy vegan WITH kale noodles), yet they messed it up twice (once it was a totally different ramen, and the second time it was the spicy creamy vegan WITHOUT the kale noodles - my husband cant have the original noodles). We were by the cooking area and observed the cook being disgruntled and it wasn't like we were changing the original order or anything. When we got the bill, it looked like the order my husband made was wrong either way. It made my husband feel like he was on the wrong. We would try it again maybe, but hopefullt they get their stuff straight. Also, I do appreciate the server because she made every effort to make it right. read more

i was here last weekend and let me tell you it was so good. i love ramen and i have been to a few ramen spots and i would say this is top 5. i got the birria ramen. its a mexican japanese fusion dish. i have had birria tacos before and i really wanted to see how the mix with the ramen would taste. it was out of this world. btw they give you a small lime slice with it and i like a little more lime so i asked and they brought me a small plate of extra limes. i ate the whole thing and it was enough food to get me full. good portion size. my friend got the spicy chicken ramen and said it was enjoyable also. can not say anything bad about the experience and the food. also our waiter was great. customer service was excellent, they stop by your table multiple times to ask if everything is ok. also loved the ambiance. read more

Everything we tried was delicious, and the food was fresh and flavorful. Our server, Fergie, was fantastic--she did a great job explaining the menu and made sure we had everything we needed. The service and overall experience were excellent, and we'd definitely come back. My only suggestion would be to increase the portion size of the rice and the $5 meat add-on, as both felt a bit small for the price.
