This is such a delightful hidden gem. My husband even asked me to not post a review as he's trying to keep House 509 to ourselves! Too late. I see we're not the first to enjoy their outstanding food and service. It started with making our reservation. The online system was only allowing for a 5:30pm time slot for our party so I decided to call to try for a later time. The call went to voicemail but by the time I hung up I got a call back from Chef G himself who was happy to accommodate us as requested. We were seated promptly and our server was wonderful. She explained the food and wine flights and answered our many questions with grace and humor. She was attentive throughout the evening without being overbearing. We all enjoyed our meals having chosen the Crème de la Crème and the House 509. Everything was fresh, flavorful and each with its own unique twist. It was a delightful evening. An experience more than just a meal. Happy to have found this gem in our new neighborhood. Well done Chef G and team. We will be back!!

READ BEFORE YOU GO: This was my First and Last time going here. I want to highlight the following: Service, Food + Portion, Ambiance, Price Point, and Location. Service: service was very good and everyone was kind. It was a busy night so I understand when things get forgotten. I ordered a 6oz wine (was charged for 9oz though...) and did not get it until someone else inquired for me. Food: Food was flavorful and everything we had was tasty. I liked the flight style but someone told us before we got there that it was enough food to split so we did that. Server did mention there would be a split fee but never specified how much. I do recommend that they tell people that without making them ask. Never in my life would I imagine a $20 split fee. Had I known, I would have just gotten a full plate or appetizer. Portions: The portions are small. Even if I had one to myself, I would have not been satisfied. Even with the dessert it was a small sliver from a bigger cheesecake. For a bistro and not an upscale restaurant, I expect I fat slice. Ambiance: It is not an upscale restaurant. The dining is not as intimate as you would think and I feel this more successful as a lunch spot or selling the items tapas style individually instead of a forced flight. Price Point: The food was good but for the same if not lower price point, you could get a very nice dinner in downtown Greenville at Halls, Jiannas, or Rick Erwin's and eat similar flavorful cuisine. Location: This place is in the middle of nowhere (not throwing shade) but with a combination of the price, portion, and everything else it's simply not worth it. You're missing the surrounding vibes that would entice you to select this bistro over others. Very disappointed. In summary it's way too Overpriced and I am still in shock about the $20 split fee. $140 for 1 entree, 1 glass of wine (which I was overcharged) , 1 coke, and 1 dessert....

Anniversary Dinner Flight with sea bass, lobster, and filet. The sea bass and root vegetables were my favorite, but every bite was enjoyed.

Made reservations for two for their one-year anniversary special menu and was not disappointed. Definitely recommend reservations as it's a small restaurant. Our server was kind and friendly. The chef takes pride in his work and it shows. Very much enjoyed the flight style options and will be back. Don't pass on dessert. It's worth it coming from someone who generally skips dessert. Bon appetit!

Flight of three entrees and three paired wines.

Such a distinctive experience. They bring an entirely different way of dining out and make their meals a truly memorable experience. The ambiance is great, the service is stellar, and the food is amazing. I absolutely loved the option to savor a flight of three different small entrees paired with my choice of three complementary wines. Some folks might find the experience pricey, but it is absolutely worth it.

    Molten Brie Deliciousness

My wife and I went to House 509 after I met one of the staff at the Inman playground right before Thanksgiving. She was very passionate about her restaurant. We made reservations after reviewing the restaurant and menu. We were intrigued with the "meal flights". This is a beautiful but small venue. Very substantial bar with many wine choices and local micro brews. We made our connection with our young lady that I had met previously. We had the best service, food, wine, that we ever experienced. We have been to high end restaurants. Our appetizer was a molten brie with cherry tomatoes, olives, and sliced bread. My wife received a vegetarian chef special flight and i had the Crème de Le Crème - scallop over delicious rice, rigatoni pasta with spicy sausage, and filet mignon over broccoli deliciousnes. We had a very good wine and one "flight" of wine. Our dessert was the apple and ice cream drizzled in caramel. But I will tel you that Ms Rachel provided Five Star Service the entire time. The Chef Guichard came out to check on our meal. Amazing to have this happen. We gave him amazing feedback. Service - Excellent. Food - presentation and flavor - excellent. Wine selection - excellent. Thank you Rachel for being such a great Ambassador for the restaurant that you work at. We would have never found this restaurant needle in the haystack. Can't wait to come back. Come check it out!!

After seeing the pictures of the food we had to check this place out. The flight concept is genius. I had the house flight which came with coq au vin blanc, bourbon salmon and chimichurri steak. Each dish was tasty and seasoned perfectly. For dessert did cheesecake it was light and not overly sweet. Overall great dining experience. Small so reservations are recommended.

Steak - all tender and delicious with variety of great flavors like chimichurri and mushroom

Such a great experience!! This is a really neat flight style restaurant where all the food is in perfectly portioned flights which offers variety and is the perfect portion to make a full dinner - just the right amount of food between the 3 dishes of each flight. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a very nice and accomplished chef who came by to check on our table a couple of times which was a great touch. He trained in the Caribbean and France and that comes through in his dishes!! It's beer and wine only with a great wine list. We tried wine flights (all delicious and paired well with dishes). Our group tried the sea bass, pasta, chicken and steak and everyone enjoyed all their dishes! My shrimp and grits flight was phenomenal with 3 unique and different styles, low country, creole and bbq shrimp- couldn't decide which was my favorite. We ended with a delicious crème brûlée dessert flight which was the perfect ending. The restaurant is small and quaint with a great ambiance, definitely recommend reservations due to smaller size. There's even a drop in child care spot right next door (little me) that they've partnered with in the past so parents can have their date night next door- perfect!! Definitely will go back.

I can't say anything about the food because we stopped in for wine at the bar, but it did look good. We were greeted and seated by their friendly host and given menus at the bar. My husband and I each got a flight of wine and perused the menu. Reservations are highly recommended as this neighborhood gem gets busy.

    Dessert chefs board

I don't know where to start. We landed at the airport and called realizing we may need a reservation for 5 and hoped getting in wouldn't be impossible or difficult. They were lovely and told us they would have a table ready. After finding out our rental car would be an hour I called back and asked if it was possible to work with that. The owner was the one who took my call, he told me, we'll absolutely, if your coming from the airport you need to eat, let me know if we need to come get you. (I want to believe he was just being polite but after meeting him you'll realize he probably would have ). They had our table set and ready to go, they explained how their menu worked and got us all situated. We all passed our wine flights around which we're delicious. After explaining that we had someone with celiac they knew exactly how to make sure they would be good to go! It's such a unique idea of flights of food with your drinks. Our server was lovely and when we asked for the chefs dessert board she didn't want our celiac friend left out so she brought him his very own dessert. After paying, and walking outside the owner and chef ran out to thank us for coming once again personally. The hospitality and love the people here have for their customers is absolutely incredible! Do not miss out on this gem!

    Chicken thigh, salmon, filet.

Food and service were top notch. The sea bass was the best I've had. The chef came to talk to customers. The wine was good.

It's small with limited seating inside which is fine but that makes the outside seating so important. Unfortunately there is literally no effort made. The seating is uncomfortable, the cushions slide off the seat as your sitting, some decent umbrellas for shade would be a big plus. I just can't fathom a savvy businessman not seeing the potential. Food is not a must as you can bring your own or buy next-door but seems like a missed opportunity. Charcuterie board would be simple accompaniment but the one they sell is overpriced and very sad. Bottom line the owner is missing the boat on the potential for this place

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, they assisted us in selecting a good red to enjoy prior to dinner. The outdoor seating face a small alleyway, there was a wonderful musician directly across from us playing the saxophone. The wine selected was a very good Cabernet. I decided to peruse through the selection of wines available inside for sale, I did not find anything that really stood out, there was one bottle that did stand out but after looking at the price I realized much of the wine selection was marked up. I returned to the table to enjoy the bottle we did purchase. We did return to the area the next evening and figured we would return for a drink before dinner, unfortunately the lights were out and the shades were down. This was quite a surprise and a disappointment at the same time, the business hours they have listed indicated they would be open during that time period we were there. We ended up going down the street to another establishment for drinks. I would say the price point for a glass of wine is reasonable, wine by the bottle seems to be a bit high and I never purchase based on convenience.

I read it three times, not because I misunderstood it, but because I wanted to confirm that it listed pets and children in that order, which it did, and that tells you something about the sequence of problems they've encountered on the lawn, though I've decided not to find out what exactly. With that said, the lawn is not exactly a lawn at all, unless you consider granite rocks as a lawn, which the residents of Elberton, Georgia do as it is considered the "Granite Capital of the World." Elberton this is not. This rocky lawn is to be filled with Bichon Frisés and children in ball caps, and on the afternoon I visited it was doing exactly that. There was a dog near the covered bar area moving through the patio with the serenity of an animal who has never once been told that other people exist. His owner stood nearby holding a beer and looking proud, which is a face I recognized, because I have a son and have stood next to him with that exact expression at least twice in public places where I should have known better. I had the Radiant Positivity, a sour ale at 6%, which sounds like something printed above a middle school guidance counselor's desk but turned out to be genuinely good, all grapefruit and a tartness that knew when to stop. I thought about ordering the Kamp Jam, a 4% light lager described as tasting like shared laughter and the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and decided I wasn't there yet. The owners opened this place in 2014 and have expanded it three times since, which tells you something about Greer that it probably already knows about itself but that the rest of the area is still catching up on. Consequentially, Greer itself has also expanded its waistline 3 times since 2014 but that's a discussion for another time. I thought about asking about the Southern Sanctum, an American Tripel, but the afternoon had reached the evening and a point where a Tripel felt like a commitment that deserved more deliberation than I had left in me. I paid my tab, which was reasonable in a way that surprised me given the quality of everything, said goodbye to nobody in particular, and drove home thinking about the Kamp Jam, and whether the unbreakable bonds of friendship were something I'd get to eventually.
