I had dropped by this establishment April the 25th to inquire about having some puddle lights installed, which was a very simple procedure, I approached the counter with a young lady behind it sitting down, I said to her hello how are you, she then replied what can i do for you? I then said again how are you today? she had the same reply what can i do for you, as soon as I picked up on her angry black woman energy I said never mind and proceeded up the street to Hallstar who will now be taking care of my needs as it relates to my 7 vehicles. I am not sure who owns this establishment, but this is truly the main reason why I have a hard time supporting black own businesses. I am sure that this is black owned simply because no other nationality or culture will have that kind of anger as the first line of defense representing their establishment. You may want to place her in the storage room where inventory is concerned, she as an utterly nasty disposition, and her appearance was the least to be desired, but of course these types of establishments will probably reward her behavior by promoting her. This has been confirmation to me to support the Caucasian business establishment. read more

I bought some wheels from an online reseller, figuring I'd buy the tires in-person and help out a local business. HOD was my second establishment; initially I'd gone to NTB and ordered tires through them but when I got there, they told me that they couldn't get the tires onto the wheels because the lip wasn't smooth. The wheels I bought had extensions of the arms that ended just past the wheel lip and it gave their tire install machine a problem. The receptionist suggested I go to House of Dubs since, as she put it, they deal almost entirely with aftermarket wheels and if anyone could do it, they could. I called HOD while waiting for NTB to get my car off the lift so I could leave. Trey picked up on the second ring; when I explained the situation to him he assured me they could handle whatever the issue was, quoted me a price on the tires and size I wanted so I ordered the tires through him and put a deposit on them over the phone, with an appointment for the following day to do the install. HOD is nestled in a small business park dedicated to auto service businesses - there's a body repair shop, an Enterprise Rental and HOD. I showed up a few minutes before my 10am appointment and did a quick walkaround just to see what was here. I was surprised - I used to live in Laurel in the early 2000s but I'd never been in this area; situated in a niche just below the Contee Rd bridge that spans the Rt 197 and Rt 1 interchanges. It's one of those spots that you only know about if you're familiar with the area. I've been driving past them for years and only noticed them a couple years ago, though they have been in the area for the last 20 years or so. Anyway, I walked in right at 10am and Trey came out of the garage; he remembered my name even though we'd only spoken the one time and assured me again that they'd take care of me. I had a walk around the sales floor - they've got rims in all sizes and price ranges, from cast to hybrid to forged wheels. The prices are a bit higher (in some cases a lot higher) than what you may find online but its one thing to look at pictures on the internet and seeing the products up close. Some that I'd seen online looked better in person, some looked worse - but that's the internet for you, right? They also do window tinting, stereo systems and whole car (or partial) wraps. I actually got to see one of their wrap jobs up close, it was a 4-dr Wrangler w/a copper or bronze wrap and matching wheels, it was real slick looking, but I could see areas where the wrap was starting to crack and loosen. I'd flirted with the idea of getting my car done but decided I'm fine with the color of the car and opted for black accents to make it pop. I might come back and get a sub and amp installed for a little more boom in the bass. They had all the big names. One thing at a time, though. As I waited, Trey came back in to verify the tire size I wanted (a lot of their clientele go for the super low profile appearance and I'd ordered tires that were a bit taller); after a bit, he came back and informed me that I might want to include hub centric rings - when you buy aftermarket wheels, a lot of them are not drilled for hub-specific sizes. The folks I bought the wheels from did not mention that, but without those rings installed, I would likely experience at least some vibrations because the hubs and the wheels wouldn't be a perfect match, so the rings were necessary. I was just glad they had them! They also had a set of locking lugs - it would be terrible to have gotten these pricey wheels only to have them stolen because I didn't have locking lugs on them, so they saved me a headache! All in all, my experience was highly positive. Yes, the tires were more expensive than what I could've gotten from an online retailer, but having a person that I could ask questions of and get answers to in person was a bonus and at no point did I feel uncomfortable or taken advantage of. When my wife's ready for a wheel upgrade on her SUV, I'll be taking it here. It turns out they forgot to give back the original wheel locks; Trey called and told me to come get them at my leisure, he'd have them up front for me. I know there are a number of negative reviews but my experience was a positive one and the customer service provided by Trey was both knowledgeable and professional. The guys in the back know what they're doing because I tested the car for anything that I wasn't experiencing when I brought it in, but it rolled smooth and true. I'm quite satisfied. I should mention, the experience itself was relatively quick - I was out the door at 11:52am, less than two hours after I walked in! read more

NEVER NEVER NEVER take your vehicle to House Of Dubs in Laurel, MD! They try to charge top dollar for subpar work. There is NO quality control whatsoever! They had my Fiancé's Jeep in their shop for 2 and a half months (and mind you it is still not fully complete) the job was only supposed to take one month and he was quoted one price and given an invoice for double, when it was time to pick it up. My fiancé had a DS18 speaker system installed and now there is really bad buzzing and feedback in the speakers that wasn't there before (clearly a grounding issue, that should have been caught by the installer). The back door subwoofer has NO SOUND, only lights up.  He also had air horns installed that work, but now the steering wheel horn doesn't work, the Jeep key fob is not recognizing the doors to unlock (all you are supposed to do is stand next to the door with the fob and the doors are supposed to unlock), they never gave instructions on how to change the colors on the lights of the DS18 soundbar and the other speakers installed (but since I also have a DS18 soundbar, I sent him the app to download), they "claim" that one of the lights were defective, so one of the speaker lights in the soundbar doesn't come on(photo attached), when in fact, we stopped by randomly one day to check on it, the installer showed us that the lights in the soundbar were only lighting up in one color because he may have crossed a wire to another location but he "supposedly" redid ALL of the wires(also, when we stopped by ALL of the speaker lights were lit). if it was defective, why not say that when you found out? And protocol is for the installer or the owner of the shop, to call the company and let them know that they are installing a system that seems to be defective, so that they can troubleshoot with the company and perhaps have a replacement part sent out. the installer may have been the best in the business, but he had NO familiarity with DS18, and instead of just saying that, they did horrible work, acted like they knew what they were doing and overcharged to make matters worse. They didn't take caution when doing the work, they scratched up parts of his jeep and used electric tape and zip ties to hold together wires instead of the plastic that professionals use to wrap wires and such (photo attached). Why give a vehicle back charging crazy prices and the work is half done or not done correctly? The installers didn't put things back where they were when the vehicle was dropped off. The kicker in this whole scenario is: my fiancé and the owner have known each other for over 15 years!!! He used to bring ALL of his vehicles there to get work done and never had an issue and always referred people to this establishment, you would think he would take care of his longtime friend (of course nothing is free and there is no issue paying for top-of-the-line work when top of the line work is being done and this was just not the case. I was JUST about to take MY jeep to get work done there until I saw how they handled his Jeep. The owner kept saying that all of the guys working on the jeep were frustrated and had to keep taking it apart and putting it back together... ISN'T THAT YOUR JOB? Take it apart and put it together until the job is done correctly for your customer and for the prices you are charging? The owner also stated that working on his Jeep was a bunch of bs, and that he is NEVER doing this system again in a Jeep(when all he had to say was that he had no experience with DS18)...  $16,000 for a speaker system install, air horns, front and back bumper kit, two subwoofers, a winch, rigid pod lights (2), and double band wheel lights is absurd especially when my fiancé ordered all the parts and bought them to the shop and all they had to do was install, with the exception of the rigid pods, winch and wheel lights which in total may have come to an extra $2500 MAX! read more

I took my car up there because I had a valve leak in the rear driver side. * When I walked in the building after I came from across the street after getting chick fila the energy was off and they had such a sneaky vibe like they knew about it. * * They fixed my valve and as I left I noticed my car was wobbling. A waste of my 15 minutes. Went in to get a quote for some audio and lights and I guess the lazy, unmotivated gentleman who didn't feel like giving me prices just doesn't care about customer service or bringing business to this place. He did everything else including walking away in mid conversation, answering his cell phone, gave keys to a lady to use the restroom, drank his Gatorade besides giving me prices for my make and model bike. When I said to him "I'm just going to leave because your doing everything else but assisting me" his response was "yeah just send me a email of what you want". I took my work truck to House of Dubs for a full truck wrap in the middle of 2021, I asked for home improvement designs with a native flair. the design team informed me that they would work hard to come up with a unique design that I would be proud of but instead sent me back multiple photoshopped euro streetcar designs with crazy stripes that made no sense for my needs. I had also pre-paid for complete LED head and taillight conversion kits by Spyder to be installed by House of Dubs. the first time they ordered the wrong lights and reordered. The second time they called me in for my lights to be installed after a few hours, the house of dubs staff let me know that the taillights were not the right ones again. they suggested cutting the body of my truck to fit the lights. I said "no, order the right ones using the VIN number. put the old lights back in" Instead while I waited in the lobby for my truck, they cut into my truck with a grinder against my wishes. Then the lights that they installed still don't work right and are only partial LED with the wrong brand taillights, "Eagle Eyes". earlier while I was waiting in the lobby I had pre-purchased a backup camera for HOD to install, a Viper alarm system to be installed by HOD, LED fog lights to be installed by HOD, and vent visors for my wife's truck for me to install. that was in October 2021 and I haven't heard back from them yet after 6 months. When I asked my bank to return funds for services not rendered, the bank told me that House of Dubs sent them my receipts stating that they performed the work as ordered. my insurance took photos and video of my truck to show improper installation of the lights including damages caused, lights not working etc. they also took photos of the non existent truck wrap, the factory parts that would have been changed if they had installed fog lights, backup camera or an alarm system. clearly none of this has ever been performed, EVER! Also, Kevin charged me to install LED bulbs for my reverse lights after already agreeing to perform complete LED conversion kits for my complete headlights and taillights. My headlights still are not LED and are crooked as s--t! my taillights are not LED, only the turn signals and the dull reverse bulbs that keep going out that he double charged me for. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that they butchered my wiring in the taillights and wrapped the loose wires and dangling wire harnesses with a little bit of electrical tape that's already falling off. It's been six months, so when are you giving me back my thousands of dollars Kevin? Or does this have to go to court? I stopped by thinking there was going to be a wait or an appointment needed. However I was ecstatic to find out that they can tint my car windows right away. The associate explained the various options and was honest about whats legal and illegal, whuch is appreciated due to having to remove my previous tints for being illegal. I made my selection and waited in the lobby for about an hour and a half. I ended up having some glue left on the windows from the previous tints and had to pay an additional fee to be removed which was not a problem. I do appreciate this being brought to my attention without the tint just being placed on top of that. I am very satisfied with the work. I found House of Dubs online so I called them for an estimate on getting a backup camera and getting Car Apple Play installed in my car. They gave me an estimate and told me that as soon as I put down my deposit they would order the parts. They told me the parts for my car would arrive the following week if I paid the deposit right away. So, I went to the store and put down a $650 deposit. They were unable to provide me with an invoice on that day so they told me they would email it to me. I had to call at least four times to get an invoice from them, and when I finally received it, they increased the price. I still was willing to give them a chance. I called the store the next week to ensure that my order was being processed and they assured me that it was. Well one week turned into almost a month. I finally got fed up and called them again and was told that a mistake happened and that no one ever ordered the parts for my car. I can see if they actually ordered the parts and there was a delay on the manufacturers end. However, House of Dubs forgot to even order the parts. This is the most ridiculous thing that I've ever heard. How does a business take $650 from a customer, hold onto it for weeks and never order the part. How do you forget something so important when you were paid for a service. They must be doing so well that they can afford to lose out on a $1,500 sale and customers. This is horrible business practice. Be aware of this business. Their customer service is very poor at best; I don't believe they even deserve a one star rating. Thankfully there are other competent businesses nearby that at least know how to order parts for a paying customer. read more

He tried to hurry me through the process, without knowing wtf he was talking about. I finally got a quote. When asked for the brand name of the product of which I was quoted... This place needs a major overhaul when it comes to good business. I went there to see about switching out my wheels and was told he had the part to do it because I needed spacers. While I waited for over an hour he came back to tell me he just checked and didn't have the spacers or lug nuts and he needed to order it. When he pulled my car up front he told me oh that will be $40. For what?!?!? I had to wait for you to tell me you didn't have the part after an hour wait and only taking off one wheel. Now mind you I don't feel like ANYONE should work for free, HOWEVER let me know beforehand what the charge will be and let ME decide if I would like to proceed. I drove up there and Kevin explained to me the different brands of tints, the different qualities, and the different percentages of tints and what I needed to get to be in compliance with Maryland law. After the work was complete, they charged me $4500 for the work, which was WAY over priced. How can you charge that much when you charge $2500-$3500 for an entire wrap? Overpriced with sneaky and terrible customer service. Went to look at rims and get my tints done. Not only do they charge 180 for tints compared to the typical 130 it was a terrible job done leaving streaks and a few scratches in the finish seen days later. The cuts were also uneven. They also didn't replace my 13 year old 5 inch strip at the top of the windshield. Petty and lazy. I went in at about 3:00 pm with no one else there and it took until about 6:30 to get it done. They try to appear to hide the work as they go with always keeping that door closed to the shop. Many shops want you to see the progress. When they opened the door I saw their mechanics/technicians sitting down on their phones. I was lazy and wanted my tints done in laurel and ignored the reviews which was a bad decision. For tints save 50$ and go to the other places in silver spring dc or Baltimore even if it's a 40 min drive they are professional, do quality work, and are fast. IF you wants rims too don't get ripped off here they are way overpriced please go online or to 4wheelautosports in philly. You'll save thousands. read more

Terrible experience.... creased my head liner when they removed it wrap the roof and broke the clips that attach the antenna wire to the roof of the cabin. Called them out on it and they said it would be replaced after the new year 6 months later and nothing. When it came time to wrap the roof in a different color we found out the glued the seems down with 3m 94 adhesive which is a nightmare to remove. That adhesive isn't meant to be used on vinyl. Also every corner had creases. I would really reconsider going here for any type of work especially vinyl and tint. read more

Mounted my tires on new rims. All four tires were mounted inside out. This error caused the tires to get cupped and I had to purchase new tires in the amount of $450.00 (which I can't afford) and take the car back because of their mistake. Would have gone some where else but new that I was not going to get a refund for this huge mistake. He should have refunded my $180 and mounted my new tires for free! The employees were moving extremely slow and relaxed. I informed them I had an appt and they took my keys. I sat in the "lobby" which is a beat up couch in between rims for 45min waiting. My vehicle still didnt move or get drove into the garage for servicing. DO NOT WASTE yout time. Hallstar Tint which is right up the block is where you need to be. read more

I had my tint done here earlier this year on my Scion TC. I really regret my decision to use House of Dubs. Pros: Decent pricing, mediocre overall attitude, nice showroom and place to wait Cons: The wait. I've had windows tinted before and I was in and out in less than an hour. I did a walk in there was one car ahead of me around noon. I didn't get my car back till after they closed. It was dark so I didn't really have the ability to do a good check on the job preformed. Next day tint was ok, to this day you can see where there were some smudges from not cleaning the windows fully. The thing that erked me the most was they BROKE the trim around the rear window. So it rattles when the stereo is loud (stock stereo) or I hit any bump in the road. I chose not to go back due to the amount of time I waited. I do not suggest anyone ever use House of Dubs unless you really don't care for the finished product and the condition your car will be left in. read more

Had tires mounted there and was driving down beltway tires started shaking Pulled to nearest shop and come to find out three lug nuts on front right tire was not even tightened. Technician untightened lug nuts with his hand. I could have crashed or worst. I called shop talked to Kevin, he didn't want to take ownership of error; technician that was working on car talked to him as well. Nothing was offered. I'm a transplant to the area, so I have a small base of businesses that I trust and will give repeat business. Two to be exact. House of Dubs is one of them. I've been here three times now. One for a wheel fix from a previous location; one for a new radio install; and a third to have a radio removed from a different vehicle. Each time they have been willing to work with me as far as timing goes. They've done great work for me, fixed what needed to be fixed, installed what needed to be installed and removed what needed to be removed. Their prices are competitive for the area. Nice shop, great location, plenty of parking. I have been to other stereo shops with past vehicles in the area, and I have always felt cramp and rushed. House of Dubs took the time to answer my questions and offer advice. They will tell you the things that you need to know, unlike other major chains and online retailers that will just tell you whatever to buy a product. They are great folks. And in the past year they have done work on both my vehciles. (SUV and Sedan). The Tint technician Mr. Joe., defenitely took care of my SUV tint as if it were his vehicle, I couldn't be happier. I also had foglights and HID's installed by HOD installer Topper F. on my truck, they look great. On my sedan, installer Topper F., did an awesome job installing an entire speaker system (new speakers, new components, new sub, and amps) with I-pod Controls to my factory navigation/radio. Also had my viper alarm/remote with extras, installed by House of Dubs, Topper F. BEST INVESTMENT EVER. read more
