I can't say enough good things about Howard and Sons Roofing. I'm a realtor, and I needed a roofing estimate for a million dollar home. I called one local roofer, and was ghosted. Real estate transactions must be handled in a timely manner, and, during the holidays, everything grinds to a halt. It was Howard and Sons who saved the day! Darryl Kelly met me at the house on fairly short notice. He was on time, intelligent, knowledgeable, and very personable. There was an odd, discontinued roof on the home that baffled even the home inspector, and Darryl identified it immediately. Even better, he delivered a roofing inspection, three estimates for different roofs, and aerial shots of the property to show us exactly what we were dealing with, in two days! Darryl provided us with excellent information, prompt, friendly service, and was just really enjoyable to work with. 100% will call Howard and Sons the next time I need a roofer. read more

They don't seem to care about small jobs. I hired them for a roof inspection in December. After the inspection, they recommended several repairs totaling about $400. I accepted the estimate and never heard back from anyone. I made multiple attempts to contact customer service and was repeatedly told I needed to speak with the representative who visited my home. Since I had no way to contact him directly, I waited for a callback as instructed, but no one ever followed up. I tried again in May to schedule the repairs and was given the same response. Now no one is answering the phone at all. Very unprofessional experience. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Overall bad experience with Howard & Sons. On one end the sales rep was very informative and took his time explaining the process. The proposal process was professional. Considering the lowest biding company sent me a 3 paragraph email I appreciated H&S' documents. However, web reviews ultimately ended up being the reason I went with this company. Unfortunately I did not have the same experience with the crew that people from other posts had. for one I never meet one member of the working crew that i was able to communicate with that stood out as the supervisor. This was frustrating considering the job moved fast enough that to fix issues as they came along we had to take steps backwards. One might ask why where there issues? Are they driven from top down or from lack of supervision? short answer I am not sure; however, several issues popped up along the way like rotted fascia board that was not replaced and was not fixed until after drip edge and tile where already installed over it. I experienced another issue when I went up on the roof to check the progress, after the crew left, and noticed that the tile overlay did not cover the nails/nail holes from the tile below it (see picture below). After some research I found this was a code violation which requires a 3 inch over lay on tiles which this is far short of. I sent a text message to one of the owners sons, so the following day the crew came back out and fixed the overlay issue, but did not replace the underlayment, so now I am worried that there may be 100s of nail holes in my underlayment. The owners son talked to the crew and assured me that there are not 100s of holes. I am not a roofer and I don't want to be that is why I hired a roofing specialist, but if as a non roofer I was able to catch these issues how many did I miss? So now I have no idea if I am going to be swimming in my living room this winter or not. I guess time will tell. ugh note: I only gave them a high star rating because I know companies can pay to hide the low star ratings. read more

Absolutely the worst company so far. Extremely unprofessional and unreliable. They came out Tuesday to tear the roof off. Left without communication. I let my dogs out and they came back in an hour later. Good thing as the crew returned just after. They left later approximately 3:30pm again without a word. Get a text that night that they will return the next day between 7:30 and 8:30 to do just the sheathing because an inspector has to sign off before they can do the shingles. Wednesday at 8:30 I get a call saying they forgot about our job and there are no crews available. Will have to take ANOTHER day of sitting around and waiting. That's even IF they can get an inspector to sign off on it. Funny thing is the salesman said a day for this job. Rep from the company corrected him adding that because of the tear off it'll be a day and a half maybe 2. Person that called this morning said the inspector only does it one day a week. Just horrible. If there was another company available I'd take them in a heartbeat over this one. Have to update - got a call from the owner and am under the impression that everything is a go tomorrow (Thursday) including actually starting the shingles. Inspector is scheduled to be here during the day after they install the underlayment. Just a word - I would never include an inspector on any review as we all know they work their own schedule. The first leak in my 1984 built house showed up, so I figured it was time to change the underlayment and prevent any other leaks (prevention). Reviewed a half dozen roofing contractors and went with Howard and Sons. The price was about what I expected. The crew showed up on time, friendly and got right to work. Overall I am satisfied with the work, but there is room for improvement. Attention to detail goes along way, but the crew missed on a few points. In there haste they damaged a few things which I fixed, small items thankfully, but still I shouldn't be fixing damage caused by the crew. They replaced many broken tiles, but it seamed they went through many unnecessary. Rounded corner tiles along the fascia boards were reinstalled, but not very straight, not like how they were installed previously. At the top of the garage 3 tiles to the left and to the right was how they were installed prior to the work, after I have 3 to the left, and 3 1/4 to the right. If Attention to detail was paid there would 3 to the left and right. I guess I'll fix this myself so I can relax my OCD. Attached are some pictures before and after, you can decide if Howard and Sons fit your repair/roofing work. Howard and Sons did a lift and replace job on our home after we experienced a roof leak due to the heavy rains. Ceasar and his crew did a great job on the roof and after they were done the roof was pressure washed and looked brand new. We are now selling our house and on inspection there were several tiles that had been cracked during the washing. Mario showed up within a week to replace the tiles and meet the buyers request. read more

We discovered a leak just inside of our front door and I called several roofing contractors to get an estimate. One wanted to charge more than $6,000 to pull up the roofing tiles and replace the underlayment. He then got on the phone with his boss to see if they could squeeze my job in and give me a "discount." It was all very theatrical and done in an effort to get me to agree on the spot. I explained I would need to get another bid and sent the guy on his way. I contacted Howard and Sons and an estimator came out when promised and explained the underlayment wasn't in bad shape and that the issue revolved around dirt and debris building up in a valley on the roof. He recommended creating a channel in the tile so water would no longer flow around the flashing. His quote was about a third of the other contractor's. The crew came out and did a great job and even repaired some loose tiles on the back of the house. I appreciated the competitive bid, the honesty of the estimator and the excellent customer service. Thank you to Howard and Son's for coming to do an inspection on a home our clients are purchasing. They were able to get us in within a day, and were super knowledgeable and great about explaining the condition to us. The roof was fabricated with Decrabond, which was not a familiar roofing material to us, and we had to do a little digging to see who could help us out. Luckily, we were able to find Howard & Sons. Howard and Sons did our roof in combination with the solar we had put on our house. They made a few mistakes on putting the roof on as far as putting nails thru the eaves of the house,but after a conversation with the project manager they removed all the exposed nails. They also broke the same sprinkler on two occasions while they they were doing their job( they did reimburse me for the sprinklers). They also didn't secure a flower box we had on the top of the house and had to call our solar rep to have it fixed. Besides that they did a good job. The roof looks great. In the future I hope I the future there no issues with the installation. read more
