She enjoyed the tamales which were complimented by the green chili. My husband stepped out of his comfort zone and tried the chicken fried chicken with eggs. He asked for rye toast and got his eggs over medium. I think he found a new favorite. The chicken was tender inside the crunchy exterior and the gravy brought it all together. I went classic and chose the eggs benedict. Ham, poached eggs, hollandaise all on a toasted English muffin was the perfect choice for me. It came with hashbrowns. Honestly the road going up is pretty curvy and definitely dark after the sun sets, so I'm super glad we had the shuttle. The outside deck for dinner has a great ambiance right there on the river. However, the inside bar and eating area felt like a greenhouse (albeit, we've been suffering from 100+ temps for awhile now). During concerts, they don't have their indoor bathrooms available; only the use of porter poties outside, but I will say they were nicer/cleaner than I expected. They had plenty of bars open during the concert, so there was never really much of a line, which was great! The space is in the middle of a canyon right by the river and a very unique and exclusive experience that you don't see every day. People sat in the astroturf beforehand and between sets, but everyone stood/danced during the show. There aren't many seats - just in the VIP areas. Certainly an overall cool experience!

Silverware was already grouped in bulk in the center for multiple guests to grab, along with condiments that appeared to have been sitting outside in the sun all day. Combined with being served moldy vegetables, it gave the overall impression that food handling and quality control simply aren't major priorities here. I understand that people primarily come to the Mishawaka for the setting and live music, and that part is obviously the attraction. But being a music venue shouldn't mean accepting noticeably lower standards from the restaurant. Music over food, and they seem to know it. You come for the tunes, but you may even leave with a stronger stomach.

Just a couple days ago a friend mentioned Fox Den was one of her favorite coffee places. I guess it was just a little out of the way for me. I didn't make my own coffee this morning on purpose. We were going out to get coffee and a bag of whole beans from one of my favorite FC coffee shops. I suddenly realized I could use this opportunity to finally stop by Fox Den. The SO asks if I want to go there instead. I say yes, but with a little hesitation. I mean how good can this place really be? Will it live up to expectations? Does the "No Waste" theme come at the cost of compromising coffee quality? Upon entering the cafe, I see a wall of mugs to choose from. I pick the Mickey Mouse one. I place my standard new coffee shop order-a cortado and drip coffee. The barista taking my order says that's his favorite mug. The drip coffee comes first. I chose the light roast. It has mild acid, barely perceptible bitterness, and nice smoothe coffee flavor. I really can't ask for a more balanced cup of coffee. One of the best drip coffees I've had in a cafe. My cortado is up. The barista apologizes for his subpar latte art. It's not that bad. Consistently good latte art is not as easy as some baristas make it look, and baristas are allowed to be human. Besides, this is not the Louvre and art is not what I'm here for, no apology necessary. This cortado is excellent. The high quality pulled shots of expresso shine through the nicely steamed whole milk. I have to know which blends they used in my drinks. El Zorro for the cortado and Foxy Gal for the drip. I compliment the other barista on the shop's coffee. She humbly tells me, "the shots are pulling well today". Typically, when I get my usual cortado and drip coffee, one is better than the other, even if slightly so. Not today. Today both are of equally high caliber. It is a good coffee day.

There's beautiful local artwork for sale all over the place, as well as a tackboard on the wall with posters and flyers for local coming events, which I think creates a nice sense of community. There's also a very nice, shaded outdoor seating area behind the cafe with a bucket of chalk for kids to play with on the cement. (A very kid friendly and pet friendly place).
