Brooke in his office kept insisting that they did belong to a Dental Alliance that accepted his insurance. So cautionary note: be sure to verify with your insurance that you are within network before undertaking any work at this dental office or any other type of health service, involving insurance. When I laid out the facts, Brooke at their office did get back to us offering us an in-network rate for the work, as a one time concession. We accepted this, paid them, and will not be using this dentist again.

I was advised by Dr. Baloy that she would help and needed to speak to a prosthodonist for consultation on my jaw measurements - She told me to call the emergency line if I still had pain. I called and left a voicemail on sunday and no follow up from the office staff or the doctor. I followed up again and was told they would ask the doctor for a status and get back to me (it had been almost a week). No response again, so I called the following week and was told Dr. Baloy would be out until the end of June (how did no one tell me this previously). I said I was still in pain and they would ask another Dr to take over. Still no call back, their office is closed again today. There seems to be no urgency with a patient in pain. I like the Dr and her ideas for my teeth and jaw but I really would like some better follow up, communication and compassion from their office staff. Hopefully I hear back soon.

Rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. I originally scheduled a first-time appointment for my mom to see Dr. James Kim, DDS, for a painful dental emergency. That appointment had to be rescheduled a few times because her pain got too severe to wait, so we ended up taking her to a different dentist for urgent care. We later rescheduled with SoCal Smiles for a routine annual exam and cleaning. Shortly after, we got a call from the clinic's staff informing us that we should find a another dentist and that we wouldn't be welcome at SoCal Smiles Dentistry. There was no meaningful attempt to understand the circumstances or discuss the situation with us. The front desk is the face and voice of a practice, and as someone who works in healthcare myself, I was appalled by the complete lack of professionalism and basic patient care. This is not a clinic that puts patients first -- especially concerning given how vulnerable an elderly Medicare patient in pain can be. I would not recommend SoCal Smiles to anyone, and I hope this saves someone else the frustration we went through.
