I had a washer that quit on me one night. The guys at HUB were fast, friendly, and efficient. I also bought their Yelp coupon. A great way to save some cash when you have an emergency appliance failure. All it needed was to have a part swapped out. The only delay was the part need to be ordered. This company is unethical and unprofessional. They "tried" to fix a leak on my Electrolux washer. First time the tech thought he fixed it without even running the unit afterwards. Still leaked. Owner said I needed to replace a door seal and wanted $85 for the part and an additional $100 for the labor. I did the replacement myself and still did not fix the leak. Sent the tech back again but still couldn't find the leak.Then the owner sent two techs who worked on the unit for an hour and a half and still could not find the source of the leak.They reinstalled the door boot suspecting I installed it incorrectly but the leak continued. I reached out to Al the owner and he said he would refund my money if I took down my original negative complaint. I did so. I waited three weeks but no check. He ghosted me and will not return my emails and phone calls. I'll send this to the BBB and add this to the posts on other social media platforms. I'm attaching the original complaint email that shows Al offered to refund me but never followed through. His responses highlighted in orange. Be careful using HUB as there are other complaints about Al not being an ethical businessman. Obviously they do not guarantee their work. Original complaint to Al Bushman he asked me to delete: Al it has now been three weeks since I first contacted HUB to repair a leak on our Electrolux front load washing machine. I've now had three service calls and there has been no resolution. The leak is exactly the same as it was when I first contacted HUB. The machine is six years old and has never had a leak until five weeks ago. At your personal suggestion, I ordered and replaced the door boot, which was a waste of my money, time and labor. The leak persisted. At least I did not hire HUB to do the replacement at $100 for labor and $90 for parts. The last service called involving the two technicians. They found that the door boot has nothing to do with the leak and was installed properly. I even rotated the door glass and flipped the hinge to the other side with no change. The techs spent about an hour and came up with no real resolution besides tipping the machine backwards a few degrees to see if the water would not flow down the interior front of the machine. That attempt has done absolutely nothing. I have removed my five star review on Google that I posted that after your tech left being confident the leak was repaired on the very first service call. I will also edit the post on Facebook which is where I found Hub in the first place. I will revise both reviews. I would like a full refund for the $229 for the first service call where nothing ended up being repaired as well as a refund for the $63.75 door boot I had to buy and install for no reason. At this point I just want to reach out to another company and get this machine repaired correctly. read more

After HUB changed my washers belt, the Technician noticed too much noise and vibration. In The follow up discussionthey told, there is a major problem with the washer; could be a beering or transmission, not worth fixing it. I did not believe a two years old commercial speed queen machine would have these kinds of failure. I had another repairman who, took him 15 minutes to figure out that HUB's connections of parts caused the excessive noise and vibration which caused a crack on the pump too. Excessive noise and vibrations fixed in 15 minutes. I paid an additional $150 to the second repairman. I am glad I did not trust the HUB Appliances for their diagnosis and recommendation to change the washer. read more

I would have given this company 5 stars, but one thing bothered me. The technician fixed the problem with my sister's gas dryer and was in and out in 15 minutes. The Whirlpool dryer needed a new fuse, and the tech got it working, spinning and heat. I have no complaints about the work he did. The total cost was $109 for coming out to the house, $100 for labor, and $9.00 for the fuse for a total of $218.00. Very reasonable. After he left, however, I noticed the dryer was pushed back in its place, but the vent was not attached. To be fair, he didn't remove the vent, and I hadn't asked him to put the vent hose back on, but a piece was sitting on the top of the dryer. I had also pointed out the remaining two pieces that were next to the washer. I later called Hub Appliance Company, explained the problem, and asked if it could put the vent where it belonged. I didn't need it done that same day. I was told there would be a labor fee of $50.00. I just couldn't afford it. I just thought it would have been nice if they came back at their convenience and attached the vent hose. Review Revision: I called Hub Appliance Company today and spoke to the owner, Al. He agreed to send somebody out first thing tomorrow morning to reinstall the gas dryer vent AT NO CHARGE! That's the way to run a business! Thanks again, Al. They came out, didn't open the dishwasher, said it was a broken pump, said they would call back and never did. We used Hub Appliance 2 years ago to fix our freezer, I wished I had come on write a review then. We got the exact type of service this time too. Tom and Justin arrived just when they said they would be here , they also called first to let me know they were coming. We called the office the night before, and were relieved someone was still there to take the call. The had the guys here the next day. What was even better that how fast, friendly and reliable they were. They put priority on refrigerator problems, which means a lot. We had already lost a good amount of food. They got here at 4, diagnosed the problem, ordered that part, left to pick it up, back here to install it, including the payment and labor they were done all of this in an hour. We are very Thankful for their prompt, friendly , efficient service. And icing on the cake, they both won over my cranky dog! It was great. read more

Without a doubt Hub Appliance is one of the best repair outfits I've ever encountered in my 71 years on the planet. Had an episode today where the dishwasher wouldn't work, and a very nice young man came out to look at it. This is the second time it conked on us, with the first time because a switch had been incorrectly thrown. Was happy to pay the service charge to get it up and running. Today, it was the wiring. Mice had gnawed on the wires exposing them to where power couldn't get to the unit. Al at Hub checked out the cost of parts and labor to fix then recommended we buy a new unit since the total wouldn't be much less than a new one. He could have milked us, but he didn't. Then he refused to charge for this second visit saying the first service charge would cover it. Now THAT is customer service! read more

I had an appointment scheduled for a Tuesday between 12 and 4. I had to call at 4:30 to see if they were still coming. They said they were short staffed so I said no problem, totally understandable, and rescheduled for the next day because I had to leave at 5 that day. I was again on the schedule for 12-4 and no one ever showed up (even long after 4) or called me to get the appointment rescheduled. I definitely understand that all businesses are having a tough time right now with staffing issues, but to not show up at all or give me a call to reschedule is unacceptable. read more

The temperature in my 15-year old refrigerator was suddenly high in both the refrigerated compartment and the freezer. I called Hub and spoke to Al who assured me he would be out to look at it the following morning. He arrived ahead of schedule, diagnosed the problem as the starter for the compressor and replaced it immediately. Al is friendly, efficient and most importantly competent. He said we would probably get a few more years out of the fridge. I am delighted with the level of service and quick response and would gladly recommend them. read more

Scroll down to earlier reviews and you see the same thing: "no call backs", "they said they'd call but didn't", "two months and nothing!". If I had a nickel for every time they told me they'd call me back I'd have my $89.00 back (okay, I might have .25 cents but I'm allowed to exaggerate since I just lost $89.00). The other day I was facing a dilemma: the dryer in the new apartment was borked. I'm back in the city after many years away, so my knowledge of area appliance repair men is nonexistent. And I really dislike laundromats. I posted on the local neighborhood page seeking suggestions and was pointed toward Hub. The Yelp reviews looked decent, so I figured, why not. I called mid-afternoon and got the voice mail; five minutes later, Karen returned my call. I explained my issue and told her were I lived, and Al and Tom just happened to be in the neighborhood. Twenty minutes later, they were in looking at things. The diagnosis was quick; they had the part in stock and came back late that afternoon to fix it. For the labor they put in and the price of the part, I thought they were pretty fair. The ability to do a short-turnaround job also was a plus and worth the premium I paid. Had a great experience with this company! They were able to fit me in right after a holiday weekend, showed up promptly, and thoroughly inspected our washing machine issue. Unfortunately they weren't able to fix it (we actually need a plumber...), but they also took a look at our oven, which had been having issues, while they were here. Their thorough job gave me a lot of peace of mind, and they only charged 1.5 service fees, which saved me compared to getting another person to look at the oven. Our fridge was leaking, not from the ice maker in the freezer, but from the back of the fridge. I called Hub Appliance and got a quick reply. Two technicians came with tools and gear, disassembled components, figured out the problem and fixed it right away. The condensate drain was clogged, a simple problem, but not something I could have solved myself. I contacted Hub to fix a stove hood. In the end it got fixed perfectly and it was a complex job as the hood was many years old. Al is a good guy and did make it happen. That being said, here is my advice for anyone who engages with this business: 1. It is a completely reputable, honorable business, but they are an older couple (?) running this business and have difficulty keeping up with communication. For example, I left multiple voicemails, and didn't get calls returned. When I eventually got to speak to the woman on the phone directly, she said they don't have a way to check their voicemails. I suggested that she record that on the outgoing message. Based on the reviews here on Yelp, I'm not the only one who has left voicemails that went unreturned. 2. You may need to do some research yourself. Al, the senior tech guy, is a fine person, but he said the part I needed wasn't avail. from his parts distributor. So after that, I dug up my model number and contacted the company who made the stove hood, and they said the part was available. Al was fine with then verifying that they had the right part and moving forward with the job. 3. Be patient. They do excellent work but I am guessing they have too much going on. For me, it was worth the wait as no one else would have been able to do this complex job (I tried calling around on the front end, and couldn't find anyone but Hub). After my initial call, a tech showed up promptly to look at my dishwasher, ran a test cycle to find out the error code, and left saying they were "going to order the appropriate part" then "come back in 2 days." One week later, after not hearing back, I left the business a voicemail for scheduling purposes. No returned call so I tried again a few days later (in case the part didn't arrive as scheduled or something came up). After a few more tries, I caught someone live who promised to "call me right back" after "checking to see if the part came in." No call back. The pattern of leaving voicemails and being told they didn't have the part, but I'd get called "right back," went on for about 2 months until I gave up. Would have loved to support a local, small business but don't like being lied to over and over or have 6 months for what I am told is a simple fix. Very disappointed - Honesty goes a long way. They have my money, and I am back to square one with my dishwasher. read more

I would strongly recommend that you do NOT use this company. I have a freezer that is not working properly. I called and they did come out that day for a service call. The repairman stated that the tracks to the freezer door needed to be replaced. He stated he was ordering the parts and would be back the following Friday. He took payment and did provide an email invoice. Sounds pretty good so far. He never came back. I have emailed them to figure out what the delay is, no answer. I have called and the woman who answers their phone told me she was not going to speak to me, and hung up. I have called back and they let the call go to voice mail. I have called my bank to dispute the charges as they have never done the work contracted. Nor did I receive the parts they charged me for. I also have filed a police report because in the end this is theft, plain and simple. There are other service vendors in the city. I would strongly advise you seek someone else. read more

We had a problem with our electric dryer, it just stopped working. I Google d appliance repair companies in Dorchester and Hub Appliance came up. I read the reviews and decided to call them. The lady that answered the phone was extremely nice and helpful and we set up an appointment for the following day. She relayed to Al what was wrong with the dryer, and just like I read in the reviews that most things are fixed when they come out to see what the problem is. Al called to let me know that he would be to my home in 15 minutes and sure enough he was right on time. Al and one of his workers came in and looked at the dryer and knew exactly what the problem was and fixed it in less than 30 minutes. They are honest, trustworthy and very reliable. These guys are amazing. I needed a dishwasher installer next day for my tenants who were going out of town, and they squeezed me in. Furthermore, Al, the owner, was one of the people who came to do the install. He didn't complain at all when we realized Home Depot screwed us by not hauling away the old dishwasher. We recently used HUB appliance for a dishwasher repair. It did not seem to be draining and water was collecting at the bottom. My husband checked the drain and couldn't find anything therefore we called the pros. The guys were able to come out the next day to take a look, it took him under 5 minutes to realize the exact problem. He knew the LG brand well and that there were two motors blah blah. Basically had to replace one of the motors. This visit took place end of December right before Christmas and I was told when the part arrived I would be contacted. I only gave 4 stars because I ended up having to call back twice to get an answer to whether the part had come and to get a timeline. I understand it was the holidays so I wasn't too anxious. Overall they came back and spent just about an hour installing the part early-mid January. They were clean and respectful- will definitely use these guys again if need be! read more

I was pleasantly surprised at the convenience of them coming over the following day after I called them. The technician (Al) also only charged me for one appliance b/c he could tell by the sound that the dryer shouldn't be repaired. Other than that I would say DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The tech switched a couple parts on my gas stove, and ordered some parts that needed to be replaced for the burners. I was then charged a $125 deposit and he said he'd be back in a few days when the parts came in. A couple weeks went by, it was the holidays, I sort of forgot about it as the 3 of 4 burners now worked. I emailed the organization to which I received no response. A couple weeks later I called and the rep. said she would speak to the technician to see what happened. I still have not heard back and now we are looking at 5-6 weeks since they first came to my place. They live in my area and I also work in the area locally. I will NEVER CALL THEM AGAIN and if asked let everyone else I know in the area that should not either. read more

Unless you want to pay for parts that do not work and services not performed, then I would suggest finding another company. It is end of March 2015 and they first came out to my home in November 2014. Long story short they billed me for parts and labor and did not complete the services billed and the part installed broke. Although under warranty, they have refused to come to replace. I have called so many times and no one has ever followed up. The same story each time, they will check on it and get back to me. At some point they said two of the workers had strokes, asked for some more time, but promised to do the work paid for. Well, I'm still calling and far past the time they said they would definitely be back to get it done. Finally they say they will give me a refund. Well, that hasn't happened either and they avoid my calls so I'm left with a $700 plus bill and appliances still not working properly.
