Whenever we travel my daughter's first request is that we visit Love Shack Fancy and I always think…read moreto myself "how do we not have our own Love Shack Fancy" in Chicago yet! I've been to them in LA, Greenwich, NYC, Charleston, Palm Beach and elsewhere...but no chicago. Back in March we were shopping our way thru LA when I asked the sales associate the very same question and she said "well you're in luck because I hear one is opening up in Wilmette this year?" I figured she must be confused since there was nowhere in Wilmette that made sense to put a Love Shack Fancy, but she was correct. About a month later I heard that they would be turning Wilmette's Plaza de Lago into a shoppers paradise, which included Love Shack Fancy! There's so many amazing stores going into Plaza de Lago, but all my 14 year out cares about is Love Shack Fancy and she's been eagerly awaiting opening day. When we heard September 19th was the big day she suggested we camp out the night before. Um, no. I did offer to take her to their opening during her school at school, but then we scored an invite to their VIP grand opening the evening before...I told her to invite a few friends and let's shop! I think the girls spent more time making tiktoks and taking pics than shopping, but my wallet was OK with that. However, we did spend a lot of time admiring all the frilly adorable clothes...and purchased a few things. i liked that they had a few Chicago items for sale such as bracelets and a sweatshirt to make it special/different from over LSF stores. All the sales associates there couldn't be more friendly whether they were visiting from other stores (we saw a few that helped us in Greenwich during our last visit!) or will be working there full-time (shout out to Carly who was very friendly to my daughter and her friends). Everyone in the store, whether they worked there or visiting, was dressed to impress in LSF and while i usually find it to be a younger brand definitely found myself admiring some things for myself. I have a feeling we'll be back a lot, although i think my 14 year old is going to need a job with this just 15 minutes from our house!

They're always on the lookout to ensure we have everything we need, checking sizes and inventory to see if there's anything we might want that they can order for us. We're so glad we're there shopping. The only negative thing I have to say about the store is the customers. It's frustrating when people come in, try on clothes regardless if their size is available, just to post on their social media accounts. Being clear they have no intention of buying anything. We had to wait half an hour for a dressing room because someone was on a live. Completely understand. Social media king, it's just a little frustrating. When you're actually a customer trying to buy. That's not on the store. That's not on the staff. That is strictly on the customers. But highly recommend the store and the sales staff, and the merchandise. Absolutely beautiful.

The door was locked, but the sales associate let me in and said they were getting ready to close at 6pm (it was 5pm). I've been on the hunt for a dress for my daughter's bat- mitzvah so mostly looked at their dresses. While they had many gorgeous dresses they didn't really have anything that worked for this specific event- most were too conservative or just not my style. They did have an amazing prada dress that would be perfect, but a tad bit out of my price range. The lovely sales associate did her best to try to find something that was perfect, but no such luck. The shoes were pretty fabulous though so I have a feeling I"ll be back here once I make the final decision on a dress.

I hadn't heard of Evereve until my friend mentioned it last night, and then today on the way to…read moremeet said friend of brunch I stumbled upon this location while walking around winnetka to kill time before our planned meeting time. I decided to check it out. It's a very cute store, and the sales girl who greeted me and was lovely and very sweet. We chatted for a bit and she wasn't at all pushy, and she gave me good info about how the store is set up and some tips for online shopping. The denim prices are on par for what you would see at other shops for the same brands, and they were running a 10% off sale for Labor Day, which is nice. The tops and sweaters are a bit overpriced for what they are (honestly the quality doesn't seem that much different than much less expensive stores, or other women's clothing shops. Like, I couldn't tell the difference in fabric quality for their $70 graphic Janis Joplin t shirt and my $20 Target Janis Joplin shirt). They have some really cute workwear, though, and if I worked a job where I had to be business casual in an actual office where people would see more than just my shoulders in a Zoom window, I would be tempted to get a few blouses, blazers, or slacks here. But since I can wear yoga leggings, a knit tee and throw on an old blazer when I need to for a video call, I can't justify buying things I won't ever use. But it was fun to browse!

I haven't spent very much time in Evereve stores (although that may change now), but I get their trendsend box every few months. I highly recommend you do the same if you're looking to update your wardrobe seasonably because they seem to nail it each time. The lovely sales associate I spoke to when browsing the Winnetka Evereve told me that they are going to start styling the trendsend boxes from this location next month. I love their clothing for comfortable yet put together looks for lounging, working or chasing around my kids. I find it all very age appropriate for a women in her 40s like myself, although I did find myself eyeing a few pieces during my last visit that my 12 year old would go nuts for. The new Winnetka store is no exception and I spied a fabulous spanx sweatsuit (I lived in one of these last winter), comfortable yet trendy splendid shoes for fall and an impressive sale section that even had a ton of fall/winter wardrobe options. I'll continue to get my quarterly trendsends because it's fun receiving a box of clothes right to your house, but love that I have this option nearby since shopping in person is fun too!

But it was way up in Glencoe/etc. and I was not going to drive up there just for it... but when I found myself in Winnetka and drove by, of course I needed to stop. Unfortunately (or, perhaps for my wallet, luckily) they didn't have much that I was interested in. They do sell merchandise by the vendor I was looking for but not the particular items. The rest of the stuff was unremarkable; it was either clothing that wouldn't fit me or stuff that I could probably find elsewhere. It is a nice sized shop though, and right on a corner so it's easy to find. Right across the street is the parking lot for downtown Winnetka shopping and there's also diagonal parking on Chestnut, so it's an easy top if you're in town.

Its like Ralph Lauren's slightly-more-affordable love child. Happened upon the store when I was looking for cute/colorful, reasonably priced neckties for the groomsmen to wear in our wedding. Once I picked out the one I wanted, Vivian in the Winnetka store tracked down seven of that same tie from their other locations and had them shipped to me within a week. Excellent service. While I can't say that I would frequent J. McLaughlin to shop for myself (because I'm not that preppy), I think it is an excellent place to pick up gifts for the moms and dads in your life, or anyone else you know who's into oxfords and sweater sets. After a cursory glance at the shirt he hoped to swap for a larger size, the salesperson refused to exchange or refund his money, claiming "it's on a hangar and looks freshly pressed...it's obviously been worn." Huh? Since when did returning an item in perfect condition, unworn, with tags and a receipt equal suspicion? Wow. Talk about an effective way to alienate a customer for life. Goodbye, J. McLaughlin. I'll be getting my overpriced, faux-preppy clothes elsewhere.

I first stopped in end of August hoping they'd have some fall dresses, but they said i was a little early. Is it me or is fall fashion coming out later and later? They told me to come back in a few weeks for 2 trunk shows. I did just that and while I saw some beautiful dresses, they weren't for me. Everyone who worked here was super sweet and helpful...and I like that they didn't pressure me to buy anything. And by the looks of some of the amazing dresses I've seen friends buy here I may give it another shot in the future!
