    Chicken and waffles
    Ashley L.

Went here for brunch with friends on a trip to the Chicago and it was soo memorable! Got thr chicken and waffles, mimosa, and a cold brew on draft. The chicken and waffles were absolutely the best I've ever had and the atmosphere was perfect. I will definitely be going back here during my next Chicago trip.

I had a blast here! I visited for the Christmas pop-up and had so much fun taking pictures--every corner was a photo op! Our waitress was incredibly friendly and sweet. She even helped us take photos when we struggled with selfies, gave great suggestions, and checked in on us often. The food and drinks were decent. The prices were affordable, though nothing really stood out. The Christmas drinks were a bit pricey, but they looked beautiful; the flavor was just okay. I would definitely come back for future holiday pop-ups just to take pictures.

The Christmas decor was so cute and the space was very festive. I came here for a happy hour and we ordered drinks and appetizers with a few entrees. The drinks were following the holiday theme, and there was a standard mocktail menu but I wish they branched out their mocktails to the holiday drinks as well. The food was just ok - the pizza crust was dry and the cheese was not melty. The pasta was also not as flavorful and did not match the price point. The apps were better, as we enjoyed the calamari and fried chicken. I would not come here for food, but it's a good place to hang out and have a few drinks.

Visited on a Wed at 5:30PM during the holiday seasons and man was it crowded. Make sure you arrived with your whole party because they won't seat you otherwise. I'm not sure what their policy is during the normal time but the table time limit is 90 minutes. Plenty of times for some drinks and apps. Ended up ordering a Frosty and Lychee Martini. Frosty is a sweet, creamy coconut cream, cinnamon and lychee dream. I wish I could have a pitcher. We also had the pizza, fry trio and whipped ricotta. Nothing to write home about. I was disappointed with our server that charged us for a birthday cookie skillet we didn't ask for. I think if i come back it would just be for a cocktail and cute atmosphere. The decorations are stunning.

Met up for girls night at Hubbardd Inn for drinks and light apps before heading to Joy District for a DJ set and night out. It's super conveniently located to nightlife The main reason we picked it was because you can all get separate checks and pay on your phone after scanning a QR code. They had a really great seasonal pumpkin spice martini that I was obsessed with. Prices are high, but as to be expected for the neighborhood. Our server checked in appropriately, not too much and enough to make sure we were good. We also tried the fries trio and loved the variety. It was a great shareable to accompany our drinks! There was plenty of availability on a Friday night, around 8-10pm. You could easily walk in without a reservation.

I am surprised to see a below 4 star rating for Hubbard Inn. Although I was here around the same time 2 years ago for a drink at the bar, I don't write a review back then but it was set up for Christmas just like it was today and it's beautiful inside. Feels very festive and Christmasy and I'd go back just for that without having to spend ridiculous amounts at the many Christmas popups that are setting up as we speak. That said our brunch was just as awesome as the Christmas decorations. We got the crab cake Benedict and the French Toast and they were both delicious. The potatoes and the side salad were so good as well. Service was great but they do charge a customary 20% gratuity and a 4% restaurant charge so overall a bit much.

We ordered a few apps and a pizza to share and truly enjoyed everything we ordered. We found the flight of fries to be unique and tasty. The pizza and whipped feta were also good but pretty standard. The lychee martini was a hit within our group.

I swung by Hubbard Inn to check out some of their new fall cocktails that they have and I'd seen and I gotta say that I am so obsessed with the pumpkin spice espresso martini. I'm a fan of espresso martinis to begin with, but not such a fan of pumpkin spice lol! However, their pumpkin spice espresso martini uses real pumpkin purée, and it is so good! Outside of that, they have a list of super cool fall cocktails, one of which is named sweater weather and the other others fall in suit with the clever naming. And for those who know and don't know, the vibes and ambience here is always dope. If you are curious about the new drinks and fall menu, I suggest you swing by, especially to check out their happy hour which runs from 4 to 6 every day and last all day on Thursdays. Tell them that Bri from planes and plates sent you!

Happy hour is on fire !! Martini Lychee is sooo good if you have never had an absolute Order if on special or not!! Pooja our bartender was sweet, personable and overall excellent service. Vibe was fun! Good music I'm a burb girl and will be back. Boyfriend ordered chicken bites and the different sauces were tasty ones that I'm not exactly use too. 10 out of 10

Came here with a group of friends recently and had an enjoyable time. The interior is upscale and the service was very attentive. I got the popcorn chicken and I loved that it came with literal popcorn, but the popcorn was stale. My friend got the oysters and liked them and we all loved the truffle parmesan fries, yum! My other friend got the mac n cheese croquettes and was served crab croquettes by mistake. It was fine for her because she likes crab, but I'm allergic to shellfish so that mix-up can be dangerous. We also all got cocktails which were delicious! In particular the lavender one was so tasty. Overall: decent dining experience with good drinks and decent food.

We were celebrating a friends bday, had reservations and were a bit late. We called and they accomodated with no issue at all! It's in River North area in downtown which is normally pretty crowded. It was extra busy because of how nice the weather was. Parking is hard so usually its a parking lot or they have valet for $25. The vibe inside is nice- its a fun atmosphere with booths and tables around a bar. The music is pretty loud. We all got a variety of drinks and they were made well but some of us didn't like certain flavors. The Tropical was very banana forward. The Smokeshow was very peppery etc. Our server was great so we tipped well but the food was just okay. Its tough because being downtown you have so many great options. We got a variety of appetizers and meals. I got Threesome fries (sweet potato, cajun, truffle parm) and Caesar Salad with steak. The fries were good, but hard to mess that up- but the sweet potato has cinnamon sugar on it which is hit or miss for some people. The salad was good but the steak didnt taste as fresh as I think it should have. The flavor was slightly off. Others got burrata pizza, peach pizza, rib empanadas, and whipped ricotta. They all thought it was okay. The Burrata pizza had whole pieces of meat on it and too sweet of a sauce. The empanadas were good but I would say more like beef pot pies with a pastry crust. The whipped ricotta was my favorite I think- but we could have used more bread or something additional to dip it in. For the price I wouldn't come back necessarily for the quality of food. Overall experience 3/5

Came here with a group of friends to celebrate the Holidays! This place is definitely festive with a lot of fun decorations. They have a holiday cocktail menu with lots to choose from. Their menu doesn't have any GF items listed but the server was very knowledgeable. I ordered a cheese and asparagus omelette with breakfast potatoes. The server mentioned she can have the potatoes cooked in a separate pan to avoid cross-contamination. The food was really good!

My family and I ordinarily go to the Walnut Room for a Christmas brunch/lunch but the food and ambiance has really fallen off the last few years so we tried this as something new! Overall, I loved the food and the Christmas vibe was so cute. I had the avocado toast and my mom had the lobster roll. The fries were so good! Our server was super sweet and I really loved my experience. I'll be back for sure!

My wife and I ordered the bone marrow to start and shared a single cheeseburger with the bacon and egg add on. The bone marrow with the marmalade on the side was amazing. I loved the thick toast they gave on the side. It was the perfect balance for such a rich dish. The burger is probably one of the best burgers I've had in my life. The bun was nice and fluffy, the burger was juicy, the bacon was thick and flavorful, and the egg was cooked to perfection. For a couple of bites, we threw a little bone marrow and the marmalade on the burger and it took it to a whole new level. The restaurant was small and comfortable. A tad loud with the music, but I didn't mind too much. I would gladly trade that for the delicious meal we had. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great burger. Just make sure you get a reservation early.

No photos 'cuz I'm guessing you know what a hamburger looks like…read more If this were not such a hyped location it was easily be 4 star. I don't feel it comes close to living up to the hype. In no way does it merit standing in line and it sure is not worth the $2.50/pp reservation fee that is not credited to your bill. That's just an obnoxious money grab. The atmosphere is dark, crowded, and a little noisy. In other words, bar-like. Service is good. No real complaints beyond asking for my burger with sauce on the side, being assured they would do that, and then having to scrape off the sauce that came on the burger. Okay, the food. The burgers are fine. Hardly life changing and not even the best in the city but definitely good. Worth the price? I doubt it. My dining partner liked the chopped liver starter (which came well after the burger) and the hash browns with duck heart gravy. I was much less impressed. I was confused by the "chopped" liver. Next to an immense pile of cornichons was a heap of large, again barely seasoned, diced liver pieces coated in a white sauce that the server told me was schmaltz. I make my own schmaltz and it has never been thick, white, and having no chicken flavor at all. Maybe they used a few drops of chicken fat to make a mayo? I don't know, but it certainly is a different take on chopped liver. The hash browns were piping hot and crispy but the potatoes themselves were badly underseasoned. The duck heart gravy was nice but the dish really didn't need the slightly congealed white cream gravy that adding nothing but more fat. If you're thinking about bacon, get it on the burger, not on the side. By itself it's way too sweet and peppery. On the burger, it works. Which brings me to... Food sensitivities. You will be asked about allergies and I'm sure you will be accommodated but you may not be happy with the results. The components of the dishes do not stand well on their own. They're clearly meant to be eaten together. Because so much egg and dairy is used in so many places if you want to avoid either your dish might be very suboptimal. So while it's okay it's a one and done for me. I'll stay with Small Cheval (very close in taste, much better value) or Burger Bar.

We chose to dine at Girl & the Goat in Chicago, a restaurant we had never visited before. The acclaimed restaurant by renowned chef Stephanie Izard truly lived up to its stellar reputation! One of the first things we appreciated was the convenience of the restaurant's valet parking, located right by the front patio. At $22 for up to four hours and $26 for four to eight hours, the rates were quite reasonable for the area. As soon as the three of us stepped inside Girl & the Goat (we had made a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Friday), we were warmly greeted by one of the two friendly hostesses, and were promptly led to a comfortable four-top table with a banquette and two chairs along the wall. We felt fortunate to have one of the better tables in the dining room, as some of the others were positioned very close together. The nearby two-top tables, in particular, were quite small and placed only a short distance from ours. The restaurant's rustic-industrial décor was dark but trendy and stylish, the lively and vibrant vibe was warm and welcoming. However, I have to mention that it was really loud in the dining room, as guests seemed to be enjoying themselves and talked loudly.  It was hard to hear our server and the staff who delivered and explained the dishes to us.  Our server, Yazmin, was extremely friendly and attentive.  It was very sweet of her to wish us a happy anniversary both in the beginning  and at the end of the meal.  She also checked in on us several times during the evening.  Now, on to the food and drinks. I started with a glass of the NA Sparkling Rosé ($17), which was light, crisp, and quite refreshing. My husband ordered a glass of Le Colture Prosecco ($18), while our daughter chose the Sun Kid ($18). She enjoyed her drink, although she felt the portion was a bit small, as the glass was filled with a lot of ice that took up much of the space. Since the restaurant offers small to medium plates which are shareable, Yazmin advised us to get 5 to 6 dishes for 3 people to share.  We decided to get 5 savory dishes and 3 desserts to share: Savory dishes: - Chickpea Fritters ($20), goat yogurt, green chutney, sev spice crunch, pickled rhubarb. - Pan Roasted Halibut ($37), miso-Marcona almond butter, spring onion blueberry nuoc cham. - Roasted Pig Face ($28), sunny side egg, tamarind, cilantro, red wine-maple, potato stix. - Goat Empanadas ($24), smoked tomato-corn salsa, roasted poblano crema queso fresco. - Confit Goat Belly ($38), strawberry goat braise, smoked yogurt drizzle, pickled strawberries. Desserts: - Vacation, Please! ($16), toasted coconut crunch, lemon passion fruit sorbet, rum-soaked pineapple cake. - Berry Yummy Par-tea ($16), earl grey soaked sponge cake, yuzu curd, spiced blackberries. - Chocolate Basil Brownie Bash ($16), olive oil semifreddo, chocolate fennel crunch, basil granita. The meal was just phenomenal!  All the savory dishes were cooked perfectly with bold flavors; the meats were tender and full of flavors.  There were dishes that we normally would not have ordered if we saw them on menus of other restaurants.  Here, we tried them and were delighted that we did!  Our consensus is that Roasted Pig Face is our most favorite! It is everything we love in a comfort dish -- crispy on the outside, meltingly tender inside, and packed with rich, balanced flavor.  We will definitely order this again!  The Confit Goat Belly is a close second, with buttery, fall-apart meat and just the right balance of richness, acidity, and crunch. For dessert, "Vacation, Please!" is the one that we will always come back for. The toasted coconut crunch adds texture, the lemon passion fruit sorbet brings a refreshing tang, and the rum-soaked pineapple cake ties it all together with just the right amount of sweetness.  The other two desserts that we ordered were also very good.  The staff even brought out a scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream on the house, with two lit candles to celebrate our anniversary - a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable.  This dessert spread was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. I'd like to mention that the restaurant added a 4% surcharge to the bill, which the customer may request to have the surcharge remove if you choose.  We let them keep it. We spent about two hours at the restaurant. The savory dishes came out very quickly, the pace probably was even a tad too fast, but the desserts made up for it by taking a longer time.  We did not mind as we were still full, and had time to enjoy the ambiance more.  I would say it is a restaurant great for group gathering and celebratory functions, but not so much for intimate romantic date night.  All in all, it was a wonderful dinner, we look forward to returning again.

We each only had a couple of bites left, but it definitely gave off an "okay, you're done now" vibe. Then he went to take the green beans (arguably the cult classic on the menu), and we still had more than half of them left. I had to stop him and say, "Yeah, we're not done with those. We paid for them. Can you put them in a to-go box instead?" For context, it was about 20 minutes before closing, but we ordered with plenty of time and were already eating with a "get in, eat, and get out" mindset. I've just never had someone at a restaurant start clearing plates while we were still actively eating--without asking, "Are you finished?" "Can I clear this?" or "Would you like a to-go box?" It was just... "You're done, these are leaving now." We were there for less than 45 minutes, left about 15 minutes before closing, and spent over $200 (not including the tip). With so many options in Chicago, I don't see myself coming back here.
