Catfish and green beans. They were on point.

We sat down quick and had our coleslaw and hush puppies fast. Service was quick and accurate the whole time. She checked on us several times and kept our drinks filled. I got the catfish of course with green beans. Everything was hot and delicious. The restaurant was big and very country. We loved it and will make it our first stop when we come back this fall. They also have a cool gift shop.

I am absolutely blown away by this place! My fiancé and I went at prime dinner time and we only had to wait about 10 minutes to sit down and eat even though the place was completely full pretty much. Our server was incredible, fast, kind, and helpful. We witnessed him cleaning tables and running around like crazy to provide good service for his tables. Easily the best server we have ever witnessed. The Boom Boom sauce is absolutely delicious, and the chicken was tender, juicy, with the best batter I've ever tasted. Do not pass this place up. My fiancé also got the gator bites and catfish, which I also tried and loved. I have nothing negative to say about this place.

Let's start by saying I know true country cooking... This was good, but nothing to write home about. They bring out unlimited hush puppies, beans and coleslaw family style and you order a meal for yourself. (The hush puppies are good and you will accidentally fill up on them lol). I had a catfish sandwich and it was good. The one thing I was disappointed in is the "Famous Banana Pudding" people rave about. Yes the cookies in it are unique (definitely NOT a Nilla Wafer) and, don't get me wrong, it was tasty but it was EXTREMELY SWEET and all cookies. It is high priced ($96 for 4 adults) but the service was great and it is a very cute, very clean restaurant.

It all started with a straightforward Fried Green Tomatoes...yum!

Huck Finn's Catfish was a delightful local find in Pigeon Forge--exactly the kind of non-chain Southern seafood spot we love discovering. We stumbled in after a quick stop at the post office and were pleasantly surprised. Jerry, our server, immediately set the tone with genuine Southern hospitality. The space is unassuming, rustic, and packed with quirky knickknacks and funny sayings everywhere--even in the restrooms, very Southern, very charming. We started with the fried green tomatoes--simple, hot, freshly cooked, and satisfying, not fancy, but done right. Lunch special there was a steal: without even asking, we were served a big bowl of beans, hush puppies, coleslaw, plus sliced onions and dill pickles. Consider us impressed. The coleslaw was a standout, the hush puppies were light and not greasy, and even the water (served in giant mason jars with lemon) stayed on theme. I had the grilled chicken with green beans; my cousin ordered the grilled catfish with fries. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and clearly made to order. Great service, solid Southern food, and budget-friendly lunch options. Shoutout again to Jerry for the warm service. Huck Finn's just earns a permanent spot on our Smokies must-return list--next time, it's AYCE fried catfish and chicken for sure.

This food was so good... good good. lol. Everything was fried perfectly. They do have all you can eat, but we did carryout The sides were crazy big portions and every single one was flavorful. Nothing was bland. I ate a good amount of mine. The fried shrimp, fish, and chicken were seasoned just right and fried golden brown and crispy. Not greasy, not soggy just done the right way. They know how to fry food. Customer service was good the food and it came out so fast I would definitely come back here. Yes huck Finn. lol.

AYCE catfish or chicken !! Located near the Smokey Mountains and easy access from Gatlinburg. Came up on this spot and was attracted by the all you can eat catfish. There was plenty of seating inside and the service was great. They constantly checked in on us to see if we wanted anotehr round of catfish. The lower rating is because the food itself wasn't anything special. The sides including green beans were good but the fried catfish wasn't seasoned (maybe basic seasoning - salt and pepper). I brought and used my own hot sauce. The sweet tea is excellent.

This place is amazing!!! Every single time we come up to Gatlinburg we go here! The service is the best it's ever been, our server was named Aura and she had some insane aura that lit up the whole room. The food came out quick and it was all fresh and slpendiforous! Thank you Huck Finns for another phenomenal visit!

Did not disappoint. They were busy but was greated right away. Friendly staff. Loved the ambiance. Food was very good. They bring out beans, coleslaw and hush puppies. Everything was way better than I expected. It is a must try.

Our waiter, Jeff, was awesome! The food was the disappointment. For the price (my meal was $18.99 for what's in the picture), it was a let down. The chicken was bland. I had the cajun grill seasoning and you could barely taste it. You'd expect it to be spicy too but...nothing. The mash potatoes was good. The restaurant is massive and it is well decorated with the seats spaced out very well.

Went there this past September 2025 for dinner. Part of the visit was for nostalgia as this was the place we usually took our kids when we took them to the Smoky Mountains year after year. That was a good 25-30 years ago. It looked the same then as it does now. Food is good especially the catfish. They give out "fixins" complementary. Service was attentive. Atmosphere is mildly noisy with an open air dining room and plenty of families gathering. They have a touristy general store area as you pay your bill and head out.

Came here for the fried catfish and fried chicken livers; two of the most popular items on the menu. The catfish was good, though it could've used a bit more seasoning (we didn't realize there were seasoning options!). The chicken livers, on the other hand, were good too. Half a pound was plenty. Each meal also comes with "vittles," a nice assortment of sides that includes baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, and pickles/onions as a palate cleanser. It wasn't too busy during dinner, and we were seated right away. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall, a great spot for a hearty Southern meal. If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try!

Some girls at a local spa recommended Huck Finn's for some good ol' country eating for dinner. Their recommendation did not disappoint. The beans, coleslaw, and hush puppies they bring to the table are bottomless. You can opt for a bottomless side option for your dinner with a side chosen from the menu, but I don't remember the price. I ordered the grilled shrimp + fried catfish dinner. My catfish fillets were significantly smaller than Husband's, but whatever. They tasted delicious. He got the catfish + chicken dinner option, and he said the chicken was pretty greasy (not drained well) but overall, it was outstanding. Our server was excellent and very sweet. It was her fourth day on the job, but she handled everything gracefully, even the nasty customers sitting behind us. The noise level was about what we expected, but it wasn't overwhelming. Just a typical noise level for a rather large dining area. I've thought about those white beans, corn nuggets, hush puppies, and catfish several times since leaving, so believe me when I say we most definitely will be back for another meal or two here.

Ask the Community - Huck Finn's Catfish

    How long is the wait?

Obviously different factors will influence this. Size of your party, day you go and time you go. My daughter and I went for lunch on a Saturday and waited less than 15 minutes

What type of beans are the "baked white beans"?

They are just basic white beans. Not baked beans more of a savory flavor with little pieces of ham.

After joining the waitlist online before driving to the restaurant, we were seated immediately upon arrival at a high top in the bar area. I enjoyed the chill vibe. Our server was attentive, friendly, and helpful. I ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye. Our server said it was his favorite thing on the menu and I could see why. The steak was cooked perfectly. It was marinated in pineapple ginger sauce and then basted with teriyaki. It was absolutely juicy and delicious. I highly recommend this steak, which rivals the steaks at any of those over-priced steakhouses. The steak came with a salad and I chose the house lemon dressing. I continue to dream about this creamy, slightly salty dressing. They should definitely bottle it and sell it! I chose a baked sweet potato for a side and it was huge and unfortunately not cooked through, but I enjoyed the fully cooked parts. My husband ordered the Killin Me Burger, a full pound of meat with onion straws and thousand Island dressing on a brioche bun. He said it was the best burger he's ever had and my man knows his burgers! The bun was struggling, so my only suggestion is a sturdier bun. A really magnificent meal at a fun place! I've put it on my favorites list.

Maybe "pet tolerant", but not "friendly": - hostess was visibly & audibly afraid of dogs. We have two sweet chocolate labs, not exactly menacing creatures. Why in the world would you send a dog-fearing employee to get us seated? - we expected an offer of a water bowl for our pups. Nope. Had to find a server and ask for one. - the outdoor area we sat at is enclosed & gated. A door separates this outdoor area from the inside dining room. In spite of this, 10 minutes after being seated, a separate employee came out and simply said "do yall have leashes?" 1- of course we do, you saw us walk them in. 2- no greeting or "hey, I'm blah blah"... cold & impersonal. 3- why bother with the cost of a gated enclosure if pets have to be leashed anyway? We've been to many pet-friendly restaurants. You are NOT pet-friendly. You happily took our money for the meal, and added a 20% gratuity yourselves (which was not earned btw), but you barely did enough to accommodate our pups, let alone be considered "friendly". We didn't feel they were welcome, and certainly no "friendly" environment experienced. We won't be back. See how Calhouns defines "pet friendly". Y'all might learn something. It has been a year since we've been so we were ready to return for some great food…read more Our server was efficient but... the interaction on her end seemed... flat. Not much personality. Or none. But we've definitely had much worse. It was pretty quiet when we started our meal but it became pretty busy. Parents really need to be mindful that they aren't the only ones present in a bustling restaurant and remove the screaming child making it miserable for the other guests. Twenty minutes of that was too much. Uncalled for. That comes from a parent (me). But I digress. The food was probably the best we've had since coming here. The pot roast and fish were excellent as were the potatoes, creamed corn, broccoli cheese casserole and okra (tons of seasoning which was amazing). Yes. I know it is not traditional southern okra but it's still pretty darned good. Why the four stars? One: they do not bring enough food. Before the server left the table after bringing our food, we had to ask for more potatoes and pot roast. Not enough to go around and we were taking small helpings. Then one has to wait for more. That's not the way it should be. Serving portions should be measured per number of guests per table. Not guesstimates. Two: they've started charging for desserts. What used to come with the meal is now extra. Costs are high enough as it is so we sadly skipped the ooey gooey butter cake and banana pudding. The sole reason for this review is to give a heads up about the change. All in all, the meal was delicious. Will definitely return.
