My wife and I were in the Smokies for a long weekend and decided to try The Park Grill after reading multiple reviews and YouTube videos. The first thing that you notice is all of the national park decor with fishing rods and deer antlers, etc. Very rustic. They have multiple projectors hanging from the ceiling that show scenes from the mountains and a cute little bear that moves from picture to picture. Very nice. Our server was very attentive and took good care of us. He seemed quite knowledgeable about the menu when I asked multiple questions. Very nice guy. We started out with fried green tomatoes and then hit the very interesting salad bar. That alone was worth the trip. My wife had the soup and salad combo with crab bisque being the soup. She said the soup was quite good. I ordered the New York Strip steak and added a skewer of shrimp. Here is where things go slightly sideways. The food runner brought my steak and it was a ribeye instead of a strip. I sent it back since it was not what I ordered. He came back with the same steak and said that the cook said it was a strip steak. I had already sent it back once, so I stopped arguing and ate it anyway. It was a good ribeye, but it was not what I ordered. I have eaten enough steaks in 60 years to know the difference. I have deducted a star over this issue. I did enjoy the experience despite the hiccup and would be willing to go back. Just pay attention, folks. read more

What a great find! Service - really good. Quick and kind but not rushed. Food - really good! I don't know when the last time I had a salad bar was and I loved it! He steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked us right. Portions were big, but not ridiculous. Ambiance - at first I was kind of turned off, but it actually fits the motif perfect... This was another fun restaurant that was on our list to try during our most recent visit. They had animations on a large part of the restaurant wall which was cute featuring a little bear cub doing cute bear cub things. The server was kind of slow, but efficient. She was nice, but not overly-friendly. The hostess and staff at the entrance were very lively and upbeat which was nice. I had the pulled pork plate and twisty fries and it was okay. My daughter liked the fries and I picked around at the pulled pork. There were tons of fatty pieces and it's like they just chopped up everything and left it in it. I like my pulled pork a little cleaner. My husband had a steak, and he said it was great! The salad bar was almost identical to the Peddler (which I know-they're the same people), and the rolls were, too. It definitely was a quick eating experience if you make a reservation-or else you'll be outside waiting with the rest of the folks. It's worth a try. You might love it! read more

After a full day exploring the Smoky Mountains (and indulging at Dollywood and Anakeesta), The Park Grill was the perfect lighter dinner stop on December 8. Yes, it was packed--parking in Gatlinburg always is--but we lucked out with a prime spot just as someone pulled out. The wait looked intimidating, but it moved faster than expected, and the waiting area was cozy and warm, which we appreciated on a chilly night we were here for two things:the AYCE salad bar and the famous bear on the big screen--and both delivered. We started with a cup of the famous shrimp bisque, which was rich, flavorful, and comforting, with fresh-tasting shrimp throughout. The perfect cold-weather soup. The salad bar was a standout: fresh veggie, fruits, and even smoked oysters (a first for me and surprisingly delicious). Everything was well-stocked, clean, and neatly organized despite the dinner rush. The ambience is family-friendly and fun, the dining area (and restrooms!) were impressively clean, and service was excellent--shoutout to Ashley for being warm and accommodating. All that in all, a solid, healthier break from the usual indulgent Smokies fare. We'll definitely be back on our next visit in the offing. read more

Last night in town and our meal was fantastic! Our table had two filets, a ribeye, rack of ribs. Salad bar was fresh and hit the spot! A bit underwhelming considering the price. We got there as it opened so easy sating. Our server was ok. The food was ok. Ordered the cheese burger and onion rings. The burger came plain, the condiments the waiter asks if you want any mustard or ketchup. The onion rings were barley warm. Well, we had mixed reviews on this place. I liked it and hubby did not. Before we arrived, we'd already decided on what we wanted to order and a soon as our server came over and introduced herself, she told us that they were out of pork chops. This is a double-edged sword because while I was happy that she told us up front, that was the one thing on the menu that my husband was willing to order. I cook at home and well, so it's often times hard for him to pick something that he won't be disappointed in...I rarely cook pork chops. They have a salad bar (8/10) that is included with most entrees, such as my 7oz filet mignon (10/10) with garlic mashed potatoes (7.5/10). We helped ourselves to that and enjoyed that as our first course. Then we ordered the fried green tomatoes to share. They weren't very good. They lacked favor/ seasoning, but I guess they intend for the sauce to make up for that. A little salt can go a long way. They were also a bit slimy. I think the slices needed to be thicker. My husband decided to go with a fried bologna and cheese sandwich (0/10 - it wasn't even warm). That bologna was thicc (aka super thick). Also, it hardly had any color on it from frying, which would explain why it wasn't hot. He was disgusted and hid his uneaten sandwich under another plate and went back for seconds at the salad bar. He barely ate anything... salad and cottage cheese. If the server noticed, she didn't say anything, but hubby didn't want to make a stink about ordering something that he was unfamiliar with. The ambiance was nice. The restaurant is conveniently located at the end of the main Gatlinburg strip, so we didn't have to encounter too much traffic or very many pedestrians. But there isn't much parking available onsite. We were able to park just outside Crockett's Breakfast Camp located across the street. Once they close at 2pm, their parking becomes available for The Park Grill. It was rainy out and they have lots of wind chimes outside that danced while we dined. They also have a huge vaulted ceiling that makes the place feel very grandiose... like a ski resort. A little black bear appears on this huge screen/projection ever so often to provide subtle entertainment. read more

The atmosphere was very mountainous themed. We arrived before dinner and my husband was very disappointed he couldn't get the pork chop or a baked potato. The server was very kind and went out of the way to try and accommodate what he could. The steak I got was delicious and so was the sweet potato casserole. The salad bar looked very fresh with a lot of options available. The only thing we really didn't care for was the dessert. Not our first visit to The Park Grill - I did a review of our first visit a few years ago (5 stars!) and our second visit a year or so after that was ok, but a little disappointing. Food quality and service seemed to have taken a dive and we left a little disappointed. No official review for that visit. We decided today that it had been awhile and wanted to give it another try. SO glad we did! The interior had gotten an upgrade with a large 14' x 60' projection wall that featured changing scenes, videos, and pictures of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Salad bar was high quality and our filets were out of this world. Definitely some of the best steaks we've ever had, period. Service was excellent: my husband actually ordered a filet and fries, but they gave him garlic mashed potatoes. He kindly asked if he could have the fries and the server very quickly corrected the situation. For dessert, my husband got the Naner Pudding, which was as good as he remembered. I saw on the menu that they offered a dessert sampler with 3 desserts for $18 or you could just do one for $6. I thought this was perfect because I just wanted a small serving and not a huge dessert. The chocolate mousse was great! I think their cheesecake was probably better, but I definitely preferred the mousse portion size after the salad and steak. What a great meal. Whatever disappointment we had from 2 years ago was completely erased. I would put The Park Grill as an excellent and equal substitute for The Peddler. read more

We went here twice during our time in Gatlinburg- once for lunch and once for dinner. The waitresses were both amazing, went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. There's a delicious salad bar and all the meals our group had were fantastic. Tried the salmon and it was possibly the best I've had! This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I've dined at others in the area I like better now. Went today expecting (like past times) and wanting a "lunch" menu. I don't know what happened to the lunch menu they used to have bc it's all the same, for dinner and lunch, not separate menus. I particularly liked this place bc it had (past tense) great lunch deals. The salad bar is wonderful, with a great selection of items. If I have a craving for a good salad, it may be the only reason I return. But, it's quite high for lettuce and veggies. Oh, I might add they it does have potato salad and smoked oysters. I was very disappointed to see such an increase of menu prices. Salad bar is included with entrees, but it should be for what they charge. They do make you pay $9 extra for salad bar, when you get a sandwich. My husband's hamburger was already $18, so charging $9 bucks extra for salad bar, is a bit ridiculous. I just wanted salad bar, but it was $18 by itself. So, I figured I might as well get a full meal with it. I certainly can't see paying the entree prices wout salad bar included. I ordered the "Award Winning" Barbeque. I don't see how it has won awards bc I didn't like it. I've never really tasted bad barbque till today. It was served with coleslaw, which I didn't like either. And, spare us, might as well not even put the spoonful on someone's plate. I chose garlic mashed potatoes as my side, and it was good. My husband's hamburger was good. But, he wanted a baked potato to go with it, and they didn't serve them till after 5. Atmosphere is great, with a cabin feel. Very good burger! Shoutout to the server Damien, sorry we were a bit of a ruckus. Place is very cool! Definitely overstimulating if you're going with young children or anyone with sensory needs (Huge screens for some reason + whole lotta noise), but the food is good, it's got a good salad bar and a fun waitstaff. We stopped here because we could t get in to The Peddler without a very long wait. We saw a sign that the salad bar and menu are the same. My partner was really in the mood for a salad so it was a perfect fit. The salad bar had all the options and was great at the end of a hot day. We both had a filet and they were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. There's a fun video board above the salad bar with a silly bear that everyone, especially kids, were enjoying making it a little more fun and relaxed than I assume The Peddler is. This evening, my fiancé and I went to Park Grill based on the good reviews. We thought the pricing was fair since entrées came with one side and access to the salad bar, so I ordered the salmon for $34. However, I should also mention that the salad bar alone was $20, while we saw several other restaurants on the same street offering salad bar in the $6-7 range. When I went to the salad bar, the very first thing I picked up was greens. The moment I grabbed the tongs, I noticed there was a dead fly sitting in the greens. I removed it and threw it away. There was an employee nearby, so I mentioned it to him. His response was simply, "Oh." No follow-up, no concern. I tried to move past it and carefully picked what I could, then returned to the table. When our server came and asked how everything was, I informed her as well. She kindly said I could change my salad, but there was no apology or acknowledgment beyond that. As someone who has worked in hospitality for years, I know mistakes can happen--especially with items like greens--but a simple apology goes a long way. It really shouldn't be that hard. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it. Parts of my salmon were undercooked, almost raw. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. read more

My friends and I couldn't decide where to go eat. Is difficult to park anywhere in downtown Gatlinburg. We had no problems parking at the Park Grill. After a long day of touring the local attractions being able to park right in front of a restaurant is a huge plus. Walking in you're instantly amazed at the decor. There is a large projection onto the wall where animals were playing. A cute little bear crawl out across the wall was great addition to our dining experience. There's a huge salad bar, which is pretty decent. I must say. I've been having tummy issues so I just ordered soup and salad. I'm from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and grew up in New Orleans, so my expectations of others shrimp bisque is given a bit optimism. I probably should have ordered the vegetable beef soup. The shrimp bisque was tasty, but not quite what I'm used to. It tasted like there was cheese in it. It could be wrong. I think the next time we'll go for lunch instead of dinner after a full day of snacking through the different parks. I would love to try one of the burgers. I can't believe we walked all over Gatlinburg for an hour waiting for our 5:15 reservation only to be severely disappointed by the horrible food. A salad bar had a huge mound of iceberg lettuce that was more white than green! The other grains were rapidly diminishing and should've been refilled because next two people were not going to get any The renowned shrimp bisque is a creamy glop of disgustingness. The only redeeming part of the dinner were the rolls. My grandson's sliders were supposed to be cooked medium, but they were well done. My other grandson could not eat his spicy shrimp because he said it hurt his mouth. They like the onion rings for the french fries. My daughter also had the same shrimp skewers and said it was disgusting and they were not totally deveined. Skip this place and go elsewhere! Not overwhelming taste, but definitely there and so good!! We don't have any trouble, but I can see parking as an issue if it's super busy. I really wanted to like this place, but our experience was honestly terrible from start to finish. First, our waitress mixed up our order more than once. Mistakes happen, but it became a pattern. Then she spilled water twice once all over the table, and the second time on my 6-year-old. No apology, no urgency, just acted like it wasn't a big deal. We ordered cheese fries, and the cheese wasn't even melted. It looked thrown together and cold. When the rest of our food came out, not a single dish was right, and to top it all off, every one of us ended up with food poisoning later that night. I called the manager to let them know, and they could not have cared less. No apology, no concern, nothing. Just extremely disappointing customer service all around. I don't usually leave reviews, but this was truly one of the worst dining experiences we've had. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

We came back to visit Park Grill again. This time for lunch. We had the salad bar. It has everything you would want. The smoked oysters are great. The bread and butter pickles were great. Then, there is the rest of the salad stuff. Its hard to find a good salad bar nowadays and this one is the standard. Its $20 (one trip for $10) for all you can eat but worth every penny to get the highest quality of everything. The service was great. Tea was great. This was very enjoyable.
