Great food, great seating to watch all the tourists on the sidewalks walking into each other as you dine and laugh from above. Waitress was new and she gave us amazing service. Mixed drinks were made well and the beer is cold. Deep fried empanadas for an appetizer was an excellent choice. BBQ ribs, Cajun shrimp, BBQ chicken, Catfish extremely delicious and portioned well. There are so many places to eat I'm glad we got a seat at Smith & Son's.

Ate dinner here on a Friday night and the service was great and fast. I was in and out in less than an hour. I ordered the fajita dog and it was massive! I wish there were more bell peppers though. I also don't think the bun was toasted, and there was just so much going on that I couldn't even pick up the hot dog. The bun broke every place I tried to pick it up, so I ended up just eating it with a knife and fork. I loved the ambiance though. The view from the second floor is great and I got to people watch from the window! The decor was also different trail signs, which I loved as a granola girl.

Really nice place in a busy area with a good sized menu. I was honestly underwhelmed. Food was good and came out hot. My husband loved the pizza burger! I had the ham & swiss on a pretzel bun and it was okay. Tater tots were crispy but not much flavor.

Smith & Son is a well-priced option for a real meal in downtown Gatlinburg. We had a nice stop with our kids while visiting and would go again. The food was fresh and tasty, and our service was good. The staff was friendly and the food came quickly. My fried chicken salad was good and my kids liked their kid meals. We were starving when we got in, so we ordered the appetizer sampler. It was pretty big and my youngest loved the cheese sticks shaped like half moons.

Started with an "elevator out sign" for Kay, this might not be a problem, but I have knee issues. Still, we made our way up the stairs. Atmosphere is MEH. SERVICE WAS QUICK, but there were few other diners. Prices are reasonable. Food was good, but nothing special. Typical tourist fare. Look for better.

While we were on the strip, we deciding to eat here for dinner. Such a great choice. We were seated fairly quickly for our party. Our server was really nice and the resturant has so much dining space, really nice vibe. They have views of the strip as well. We ordered a couple rounds of Moonshine shots and drinks. All taste really good. The locals lemon drop and create your mule were sooo good. The food? OMG everyone devoured it. Sooo good. Catfish was breaded, season and fried just right. Fries and tots too. Chicken wings were so good adhd everyone loved their sandwich. Nothing but greatness came from that kitchen. Next time we visit Gatlinburg, we have to dine here again

No complaints. Good food. Reasonable prices. Ample portions. We had the Cobb Salad and Taco Trio. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time despite being busy.

My husband and I ate dinner here on a Thursday night, so there was no wait to be seated. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor. We were seated next to the window overlooking the street below, so that was nice. I ordered the nachos, minus onions, and the portion size was HUGE. It was really good! Instead of the usual tortilla chips, they use homemade potato chips which were crunchy and good. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and double mashed potatoes. He's a very picky eater, so it didn't surprise me when he didn't like it. He's said the steak was beer battered, which he doesn't like. However, we also ordered some drinks and he loved his Hillbilly Hurricane and I enjoyed the White Trash. Service was good and helpful! Also, the room wasn't loud like many restaurants, where you can't even hear the person at your table. Overall, solid 4 stars.

Average.... That's the word for this place. Service was great. Food was average. I had the half chicken. It was dry. The bbq flavor on the outside was good. The hillbilly hurricane was a solid drink. The staff was super nice and the bar was cool.

The e food was plentiful and tasted good. The bartender was also our waiter and he was attentive and made sure our drinks were always full and kept things pretty fun for us. This place reminded me of TP Crockmiers with the menu offering. It was relatively quiet considering how crowded Gatlinburg was/is. Daughter got this giant hotdog which looked really good. I got one of the burger offerings as did my wife. Both were very good and cooked the way we asked for. We also ordered fried pickles, which were breaded just right, although a little salty but still really good. Recommend eating here if you are in the area.

We stumbled upon this place while driving by in the busy street and gave it a try (I didn't even YELP or anything) I viewed the menu outside and was pulled in by the spinach and artichoke dip!! The restaurant is two floors and the service was instant and kind. We just got back from hiking, and we were starving, and we finished this meal and less than 45 minutes. The food was fast and delicious. The drink- oh my goodness, I LOVED. It was sweet and you can still taste the alcohol. If i were to come visit the smoky mountains again, I will totally stop by this place too!

    smoked meatloaf

we came for supper on saturday about 5:15. we were told a 20 minute wait and that was about right. The waiter was very good. I had fried pickle chips and they were well fried and seasoned. for the main i had the amazing smoked meatloaf! it was large and had a great smokey flavor. The mashed potatoes were good. I had the nutter butter old fashioned and really enjoyed it.

Service was great! I had one of their signature cocktails (Hillbilly Hurricane.) it was one of the best alcoholic drinks I've ever had at a restaurant! And... the appetizer we ordered was different bc i don't recall ever seeing fried okra as an option somewhere else. It was tasty and cooked to perfection. The house-made Chipotle Ranch made them even yummier! Oh, when you go, be prepared to walk three flights of stairs to get to the top of the restaurant. But, once you do, it'll be a good view of the downtown strip.

He thoroughly reviewed all the menu options which were available to us and was extremely welcoming. The generous portions and freshness of the seafood were impressive. We had a delectable crab bisque and Caesar salad for appetizers accompanied by succulent hot rolls. The main courses were lobster tails, crab cakes an an incredible Florida grouper in a red pepper sauce. We are from New York and have dined at many exquisite restaurants, but this one was surely one of the best. We expressed our appreciation to Angela Judd, the manager, who takes great pride in customer satisfaction. We look forward to dining with you again in the near future. Andrea & Wayne Osnow

As for the food, it was honestly pretty underwhelming considering how hyped this place is. The crab dip was okay, nothing memorable. The steak and lobster was disappointing- the lobster had that soft texture that overcooked or not-so-fresh crawfish can have. The baked shrimp wasn't bad, but definitely not something I'd order again. Strawberry shortcake was decent enough. Ironically, the bread basket ended up being my favorite part of the meal-absolutely delicious. The service, however, was genuinely warm and hospitable. It was a bit slow, but the staff was kind, friendly, and personable enough that it made up for it. That was honestly the highlight of the experience. Was I excited to try this place because of all the hype? Absolutely. Would I personally recommend it? Probably not.

Now that I've been, I have to say it tasted authentic to me, at least based on the food my table had. Crab fried rice was delicious. They gave generous portions of meat in all of the meat dishes. The crispy duck was actually crispy. The food was well seasoned and not too salty. I think they actually do make their Thai tea because my tea was in 2 layers when it was brought out (tea at the bottom and milk at the top) and I mixed it myself. Though the restaurant was busy, the servers did their best to attend to you and came back to refill waters. The place was clean. Sufficient parking. Unfortunately, we didn't try the tum yum, which is honestly the bar I judge every Thai restaurant by (I want to taste that galangal and kaffir leaf), next time. Took pictures after we chowed down this time. I do need to warn that their medium spicy level is actually spicy, which I enjoyed, but others may not. I do highly recommend if you are in the area and craving Thai. ----------- Update: went back and tried the Tom Yum. It was good, but was missing the "kick" and depth of sour flavor I prefer. Also would add that the food can get pricey fairly quickly if you get multiple dishes. Chicken satay was delicious, highly recommend. I'd still go back and recommend coming here though.
