I was recommended to go to Huck's Hoagies by my brother and it did not disappoint. This place is next-level good--and the staff greets you like you've been coming there for years. While we were waiting for our sandwiches, one customer told us he flies out from California just for Huck's Hoagies and I can understand why. Portion sizes are generous, prices are more than fair for the quality, and the ingredients are clearly fresh. While serving at a local youth camp, we had to go outside for food because the camp food was not very good. So we decided to go out for a Philly cheesesteak. Originally, we ventured over to Full Belli deli in Wolfboro, which has some of the most incredible cheesesteaks I've ever tasted, but they were overwhelmed with orders and the minimum weight for a takeout sandwich was an hour and a half. We didn't have that much time to wait. Boy, do I regret not waiting... When we entered Hucks, the absolute empty restaurant should've been a massive red flag. But we were so engulfed in serious conversation, we didn't even realize it. We waited for about 20 minutes for our sandwiches to be made which were about $18 apiece for a "special steak" cheesesteak that boasted caramelized onions, fried peppers, and mushrooms with provolone, cheddar and American cheese. Sounds amazing, doesn't it? Oh contrar. It was pretty terrible. The onions were pretty much nonexistent, there was nothing special about the steak, except that it sucked, the peppers were not grilled, and the several cheeses were there in name only. Oh yeah, the bread tasted like it was soaked in warm water. Ugh. I recommend Camp Sentinel food over Huck's. All in all, camp food was a 10 compared Huck's. Huck's sucks. read more

Chicken was good quality but something was off. I think it was the breading. Maybe sauce. It has been to long to know but when I had it last it was ranked the best I ever had and waited all winter to venture back this way. My wife had a turkey sub and the board says cheese lettuce, onions, and tomato. It came without cheese and had olives and green peppers. She only said no tomato. She didn't enjoy it. I am seeing many recent bad reviews. Hope they turn things around. Star was very friendly and it was clean. Not sure what's changed but very disappointed recently. Ordered their Steak & Cheese hoagie, specified provolone, mushrooms & jalapeños w/side of fries. Steak was unseasoned, very bland, saw and tasted very little cheese. There may have been added mushrooms but they were scarce and the jalapeños were simply added into the bottom of the bun as an afterthought like they'd forgotten to add them with steak mix on the grill. Fries were okay but $5.75 is the only option and too many fries as a side. Overall, I feel like $28.00 plus tip is a bit much for a cheesesteak, fries & a Coke considering the lack of quality. Service was fine and I can't fault the staff but I think the cook could take a few pointers from this review. Huck's steak hoagies used to be the best. What happened? read more

Hucks WAS the best of Wolfeboro subs -- but it's never been the same. Large subs are noticeably smaller, salami and cheese in a deluxe is very skimpy, prices are significantly higher (not surprising), and there's no teriyaki tip sub available anymore which is was one of their best items by far. We frequent Hucks every summer and unfortunately this year it has been the worst experience. My total lunch bill was over 60$ and my sub was only half full of meat, the other part was just plain bread. My onion ring order had 5 onion rings in it. My french fry order was half full and cold. I understand the cost of food is rising but I can't justify paying so much money for something that doesn't even satisfy me or my family for a lunch meal. There is no better Italian sub. Period. The fresh bread, the hots, the myriad of meats, the dressing....... what if I said my 10 yr old makes an exception on his hatred of tomatoes and vinegar because... in his words: "Dad, the Huck's has to be its own?" There's nothing better in Wolfeboro or the Lake's Region than Huck's Hoagies. Ok, so I'm from Philadelphia and if there's one thing we know well, it's cheesesteaks. The Cheesesteak Bomb from Huck's was the best I have ever had. Perfectly sliced steak placed into a freshly baked roll and then topped with savory cheese, onions, mushrooms, peppers and, wait for it, salami. That's right. Salami. Amazing. Life altering. We took hoagies for the entire crew on the boat, anchored in Winter Harbor and had a very delicious lunch. To top it off, the service and appreciativeness for our business was also genuine. They have the classic hoagie combos (like Italian, chicken parm, steak & cheese, etc.) so I got the deluxe steak hoagie. That comes with cheese, peppers, onions, and mushroom. Y U M. It was amazing. One of the best hoagies I've ever had. Not to mention the portions are phenomenal. A small very well feels like a large. And a large is 2-2.5 meals itself.
