Went in on a Sunday night and the place was pretty busy. As usual they were out of several staple menu items, but the service was phenomenal. Our waitress was Samantha, but she was busy when we needed drink refills, instead of having to wait for her however, the cook came and refilled our drinks. Friendly environment and respectful staff. We used to love this place when visiting family in Repton. We moved to Alabama 4 years ago and have gone here about 5 times and each experience has gotten worse. I'm not even talking about the ever present flies, I'm talking about the fact that our order has never been right. After the 3rd time we started checking the order before leaving and when it was found to be wrong and we asked for a correction it was if we were being unreasonable. So I'd been on the road for awhile when I came across the crossroads that is Monroe. The Huddle House looked as good of a place as any to fuel me belly up, so I made a hard left turn off of US 84 into their parking lot and got out. Now, I probably should know better than to enter a small Deep South restaurant with a San Francisco Giants' jacket and order a veggie burger with a Diet Pepsi, but that's what I did. Got a few strange looks, but I didn't hear anything along the lines of "Damn Yankees" or "Left Coasters". Crew was a bunch of young women who were polite if not particularly memorable. The veggie burger: Meh, and the fries I can't remember at all, and it's but eight days later. The Huddle House: If you think America's restaurants are in danger of all being the same, try it out. This spot is hot garbage! We got here around 11am and they didn't even get to us until 1pm. Only 1 server and 4 to 5 cooks. The food is not the best either, I had got the MVP breakfast and and when I got it it was cold and not even complete. The hash browns were cold and over cooked. The place is just dirty and run down. This is by far the worst Huddle house I have ever been to...The staff was rude...had to ask for menu..silverware and that was apparently to much...coffee was cold so I was told 30 minutes to make a fresh pot of coffee...food was ordered and cooked wrong...I could go on and on about the horrible service but it would do no good. this place is in the middle of no where and only locals eat here...if your traveling I warn you not to eat here read more

Had the chopped beef steak with mushrooms and onion gravy, side salad and fried okra. Everything was very good. The fried okra was some of the best I have ever had anywhere. It was crisp but not burned and not chewy like you normally get from any restaurant (fried okra that has been frozen). The waitress was also very nice. Very over priced, if you order just the waffle without any meat or sides that it usually comes with (like shown on the menu) they would still charge you for that whole platter! even if you specifically tell them that you only want waffle, but their response is that we don't have just waffle in our system to charge you for and so you pay for the whole thing whether you order it or not, that is absolutely wrong! Service lacking in promptness and food was not as good as I wanted. Ordered a club sandwich and was told only BLT's could be made. Then it Took over 20 minutes to receive the food which sat in across from me slowly getting colder and fries turned to smush, while patiently waiting on someone to check me out.
