This experience was one of my favorites , the food, service and ambiance. My boyfriend and I booked a reservation For 8:15 pm on Valentine's Day. As soon as we arrived we were promptly seated. They sat us at a booth which was definitely too large for two people but nice because we were pretty isolated and definitely 6 feet away from others. We ordered a bottle of wine, and the cheesy bread roll appetizer. The appetizer was great, nothing too extraordinary but still delicious. It tasted like Bosco sticks. Perfect cheesiness. The rolls were soft. We were off to a strong start. For our main courses, I had the sea bass, which came on some rice and my boyfriend did the prime rib which came with a side of mashed potatoes, cooked medium rare. The sea bass dish has an Asian twist to it. It was filling but not an overwhelming amount of food. This may be the first restaurant I've gone to where I finished my entire plate. That sea bass was out of this world. An amazing garlic/ginger soy sauce topped the rice and sea bass. We also had a side of fries, which were crispy and cooked to perfection. For dessert, we had the Texas sheet cake and oh. My. God was it good. When first looking at it it didn't look like anything special but it was phenomenal!! It was a chocolate sheet cake topped with a layer of chocolate icing and some ice cream. The experience was great and definitely will be back! read more

The waitress only came after we flagged one down after sitting for almost 10 minutes. (we went around 4p on a Saturday) The cocktail and beer were much better than the food. Disappointing for an 85 dollar meal. read more

I had two $25 holiday bonus gift cards and ordered food for pick up that cost $30. The hostess used the one and then used $5 on the second card. The hostess handed me back the second card and printed a receipt and literally circled the balance of $20 on the receipt. I come back two days later for a pick up order and was told I can't use the gift card with the $20 balance. I was told these cards are "one use only" cards. As you could understand, I was confused. Two days prior, why did she hand me back the card with a receipt with a circled balance on it? Why was I not told about the one use only? Anyways, she goes to the manager and comes back to confirm that is a one use only card. I show her the receipt with the balance and ask for an explanation. She says, "although there is a $20 balance on this card, it is a one use only card, and cannot be swiped again". I ask once again if there is anything that can be done. She goes back to her manager, to ask if there is anything that can be done on my behalf, as they had obviously messed up on their end. Instead of the manager coming out to smooth this all over, as any other manager of a nice restaurant would do, he doesn't come out but rather sends the hostess back out to once again confirm there is nothing that can be done. So I cancelled my order and left. It is unreal that a restaurant manager wouldn't budge on a difference of $20!! It was a slap in the face, when clearly they had made a mistake two days prior, and I literally had receipts to prove it. It was just wrong, and you could tell the hostess knew it was wrong and wanted to make it right, but her manager wouldn't let her, or even speak for himself to a customer. I will never step foot in a Cameron Mitchell restaurant again. You have lost a 20 year customer who before today, had nothing but good things to say. read more

First of all, let me start off by saying that the quality of the food here is excellent. I dined here on 6/22/14 and ordered the prime rib, which was one of the best prime ribs I've ever had in Columbus. My wife had the rigatoni and the arugula salad. She liked both dishes, but I think she was disappointed that they don't offer a wedge salad like most of the other Cameron Mitchell restaurants. We also shared the dip trio and the hand cut french fries. The dip trio, on paper, makes no sense. (guacamole, hummus, and smoked trout?) But in actuality, each dip is excellent, and doesn't crash with each other like one might think. If I were to judge this restaurant on the quality of food by itself, I would give it 5 stars. The interior decor is nice, although it's way too dark inside. Next time, we'll plan on sitting on the outdoor patio. The servers here are very courteous and professional. As expected of a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. What prevents me from giving this restaurant a 5 star rating is the way their menu is set up. Although I came away feeling like I got an excellent meal and an excellent value, I can easily see how some others might be turned off by their pricing. $29 for an amazing prime rib is... well, amazing. $17 for a reuben sandwich on the other hand is ridiculous. Does that reuben sandwich come with a side of lobster mac & cheese or something? $10 for a side of california rolls is overkill as well... you could get the same thing elsewhere for $5. Also disappointing is that they don't give you bread-- if you want bread, you need to order their $6 cheesy bread as a side. So depending on what you order at this restaurant, you might have a 5 star experience, or you might have a 3 star experience. Choose your dishes wisely, I guess. read more

The food was great, I had the Trio which included a sandwich, salad and there tomato soup. The soup was so good!!! My mom had the French Dip and there was so much we had to take half sandwich home. I went to Hudson 29 a couple weeks ago for a professional school event and it was a great experience. There is a parking garage right next to the restaurant with outdoor parking too. Once we entered, the ambiance was amazing. It was dark with some dim lighting and candles. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. She brought out the specialized utensils everyone needed for their respective dishes. I got the King Kong Roll and the Hawaii-five-o roll and they were yummy! The king kong roll was good but I wasn't a fan of the texture of scallops. They were kind of chewy and messed with the rest of the roll. I loved the Hawaii-five-o roll is was delicious! Tuna was fresh and everything went well together. Some of the people I went with got the sea bass and it looked amazing. I will be getting that the next time I go back! My daughter was visiting OSU and after the tour we stopped for happy hour. My dad and brother/wife live in the area and they love this place. It was a Saturday and already packed at 5:30 but luckily we called ahead and had a table waiting. The ambiance was perfect for a snowy day. Dimly lit with a fire going. We were seated in a large, comfy booth which fit the six of us nicely. My elderly father made a fussy drink order with olives on the side and the dear waitress was extremely polite and brought what he asked for. My brother had a smoky cocktail with a pretty dried fruit on top. Looked fabulous. My daughter and I split the signature sushi rolls which were fine. Husband enjoyed the French dip and fries. He shared none of it, and said it was delicious. Dad got trout dip and looked forward to taking his leftovers home. Overall an enjoyable time, great service and great food selection. Luckily they fixed it after i told them it was wrong, and they took care of my meal. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a free dessert! I had been wanting to try Hudson 29 for awhile, and one night when our dinner plans at a different restaurant fell through, we decided to come here. It was around 8pm on a Friday night, and it was PACKED. I would definitely recommend having a reservation if you are going to come here for dinner. We were told the wait for a table would be over an hour, but that we could go to the bar and try to get a seat there. The bar was extremely crowded, but we ordered some wine and after about 20 minutes, we managed to grab two seats so we could eat at the bar, which I think can be fun at somewhere as lively as Hudson 29. Their wine list is extensive, and I tried a new Pinot Grigio that I really liked. It took awhile to order; again, it was a busy Friday night, but we ordered the Wine Country Board to tide us over. It was a great combination of cheese, meat, and fruit, and was very filling. For dinner, I had the volcano sushi roll and my mom had the Caesar salad. Both were pretty good; nothing particularly special, but still good food. I like the variety their menu offers; it's an interesting combination to have sushi, flatbreads, and queso all on the same menu. Overall, for a last minute dinner place, this was good. The wait was long, but we didn't have reservations, so that's understandable. Sitting at the bar worked out, because we got to keep ordering more wine! read more

Our night started out with drinks and Aaron was very quick to our table. The menu was unique with a lot of choices. My experience of asking the waiter to provide their top three items from the menu proves to me their love for the chef's ability to provide quality and quantity. Overall, my table was very satisfied with their food. As my other reviews would give away, I am a Cameron Mitchell restaurant fan, so I decided it was time to get over to Hudson 29! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with wood paneling and a fireplace. It was perfectly suited for the cold winter day when I arrived in a party of two for lunch. There is a nice large bar area between the front entry and the dining room. The menu has a lot of options, ranging from soup and salad to sandwiches, flatbreads, and sushi, along with some entree selections. I requested the gluten free menu, and was happy to see that there were a number of choices on that, as well. I opted for the House Salad, which was nicely seasoned and flavored with the house vinaigrette over a variety of veggies and crisp bacon. A variety of proteins are also offered as an optional add-in. It hit the spot. My dining buddy opted for the soup and salad lunch combo. She was having trouble deciding between the two soup options, tomato basil or southwestern black bean. Upon hearing this, the server kindly brought out soup samples, which helped her decide upon the black bean to go with her arugula salad. Parking is nearby, with a few spots available street side and a garage around back. Very nice place! read more

I've only been here twice. Once for lunch a while back and yesterday for dinner. My last experience here was a bit disappointing. For appetizers we had the hummus and guacamole and tuna with chips. The hummus was not good, the fish and the guacamole were not bad. We also had the For my main dish, I had the scallops. The salad that came with it was delicious! The scallops themselves varied wildly. A few were delicious, A couple others were a bit chewy and grimy. A few of us shared the chocolate cake with grater's ice cream. It was quite large, but I didn't much care for it. The service was at times annoying. The server was polite but he kept clearing our plates before we were done with the appetizers. This was really annoying. I don't understand the logic and I would have said something except that we were hosting an interviewee here... Anyway, I'm generally happy with Cameron Mitchell restaurants and will give it another try. read more

Get there early to get a seat at the bar. They've had to raise their prices slightly on the Happy Hour menu which is understandable give the supply chain issues in the country. They ran a busy evening so well, I think congrats are in order given the state of the economy right now and with Covid protocols. If Annie is working, definitely request her as your server! She made excellent suggestions and when we let her know we had a food allergy in our group she ensured there were no issues! We had a reservation on Saturday at Hudson 29, we had visited many times in the past, and loved it, and brought a group of 6 on Saturday to celebrate a birthday. We arrived on time for our reservation but were seated 20 minutes late, after sitting and staring at our empty table. We received our food an hour and a half after sitting down, and it was cold. I know that this is to no fault of the waitress' and am not blaming her. However, after hearing that another Cameron Mitchell restaurant closed due to servers not being paid enough, and seeing how short-staffed Hudson 29 was, we will not be visiting again anytime soon. read more

Way over-priced for poor food execution. I ordered medium rare new york strip steak and I got a gray band around the edge of the steak and inconsistency of doneness throughout the steak. It went from raw to medium. I would never recommend this place. My friend had the prime rib and it is bland. The cooks don't know what to do when it comes to food. read more

The surf and Turg was great all of the ingredients were fresh other then the ginger but most people don't eat that anyway. The consistency of the seaweed was a little off. There was a bit too much cream cheese in the roll. It would have been great without any creamcheese. Regardless me and my girlfriend enjoyed the roll and both of us thought it was very yummy. Was craving a cheeseburger because I smelled something on the way home from work that reminded me of it and I just could NOT shake it off. So we ordered takeout for the first time from there. Considering I was starving and craving a cheeseburger, I would've thought it to be amazing especially coming from a Cameron Mitchell joint. However, I was a bit underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, it was good but it didn't quite hit the spot that I was anticipating it would. I've had some mind blowing cheeseburgers (a pimento cheeseburger to be specific from another local restaurant) so I probably had this level of expectation in my head that was maybe a bit unrealistic since that's not exactly an apples to apples comparison. Anyway, I like that the burger was American-sized and not some teeny tiny little thing that nicer restaurants sometimes give. I also enjoyed my fries because they were seasoned with sufficient salt and were more on the mushy side. I know I know...it's super weird that I like mushy fries. I think the fries were maybe mushy since they were put in a to go container while hot. Hubby ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich which was good, but was extremely mushy (especially the bottom piece of bread) due to being placed in a to go container...ah the limitations associated with getting takeout. Even if we dined in, I think I would still rate the food the same. I would still like to come back and try other items off the menu to see if my opinion changes. The takeout process was seamless. You order and pay on the phone or online. When you get there, you pull up to the curb on Lane Ave and text the number posted on the sign that you're here. The hostess then brings out your food and receipt. No additional touching of pens/notepads needed since you've already paid = muy bueno. The only thing that could be better is having more curbside pickup stalls since there are only 2-3, but I realize that they have space limitations based on the location. It was a bit of a cluster when 6 cars were all trying to fit in this one tiny area and ppl were parked in these stalls much longer than I thought they should be. read more

The hostess kept telling us she could seat us but we'd have to be out of there before the end of the hour. Kinda weird. We ended up staying past the hour and no one said anything to us. read more
