We've been here before and have enjoyed it, which is what makes this review difficult. We arrived for lunch and were seated right away, if only with one menu with promises of additional menus to be delivered. Alas, that was the last we heard from anyone associated with the restaurant. Despite a bevy to servers floating around us, waiting on everyone else, we were plainly ignored. Not even a "hi, I'll be with you in a moment" introduction. Nothing. Nada. Ignored. We never received a menu, no one said anything to us so we just walked out. Incredibly disappointing waste of 20 minutes of our time. I guess I could provided pictures of one menu and nothing on the table but they would be sad. read more

Hudson 29 is yet another Cameron Mitchell concept. If you're familiar with his restaurants, you're thinking overpriced. Well, kinda. It's not all that bad. They have some good specials. I went for happy hour. It's the only time to come. They have several bucks off cocktails and some appetizer plates. Happy hour is from 3 to 6 Monday to Friday. It's another place in Columbus where it ends so early, so you have to rush from work. Another reason why Columbus sucks. Try to get here and even leave early if you have to. I had a sidecar. It's $8 at happy hour. This is tangy. Food options aren't as good of a deal, and you get pretty small portions. The food specials aren't as good, and sometimes on the regular menu you can get better prices. I had the couscous. It's $7 for a side. This is better priced than most of the happy hour specials. It's about what you expect. Lots of Upper Arlington types here. They have a parking garage that's free if you're a customer here. read more

We always have an excellent experience here. The food is fantastic, service is wonderful, and the vibe is elevated. My only critique is how dark it is at some of the tables. Weak entree's IMO. We have been to many Cameron Mitchell restaurants. The server was not great and seemed annoyed to be there. We had stacks of plates sitting in front of us multiple times for 10+ minutes. We had the salads, kids meals, queso, cheese bread , sushi, ribs (not good), Bolognese (not good), flatbreads and the Texas sheet cake (decent). Overall this is in the bottom of my choices for CM places to dine. I'll still to Martini's and Marcella's. read more

Came here with my sister at 7pm on a Wednesday. We were able to park for free in a nearby garage. We made reservations online, but when we arrived they said it would still be about 5-10mins for our table. They instead offered us a seat out in their four-seasons room if we wanted to be seated right away, so we chose that option. There as one other couple out in the four-seasons room. The room was long and narrow, but it was heated and comfortable. We knew this restaurant was more pricey, so I was a little disappointed at first because it felt a little secluded from the actual restaurant, so we didn't get to experience the ambiance. Regardless, we were still happy to be there because we had heard great things. We both ordered wine and chips/chorizo queso to share, which was delicious! We then decided on the same meal, which was the crispy buttermilk chicken sandwich. The sandwich came out huge, which meant we were able to take some leftovers home! read more

The service is the worst thing about this place. Atmosphere and food are awesome but we waited 45 mins for our food and the excuse was that a large table ordered. This isn't the first time though we have had waiting staff issues. Constantly 15-20 windows before our orders are taken and even longer to come back to see if we need anything when our food takes abnormally longer then it should. Dropping $80 each time for subpar service is not my thing. I mean the foods good but it doesn't blow me away. You can't screw up a bbq chicken flatbread and a fish sandwich. You honestly lose money because my wife and I were pretty sure we could have tied more drinks on but the lack of seeing if we wanted more screwed you guys out of more profits. Get your wait staff on track with seeing if customers need anything because you're losing money both currently and when we don't rerun. This was my first time to a Hudson 29. The setting, decor and ambiance was lovely. The lighting is on the dim side, but not too bad. The bar area is in the center of the space with a mix of tables and booths surrounding. It's actually a nice-sized bar, with high-back chairs on three of the four sides. I like how the wooden lattice wall separates the host stand and customers waiting to be seated. My original thought was to partake in H29's Restaurant Week pre-fixe menu, but instead I opted for a California Sushi Roll off their happy hour menu, and I crumbled under pressure and got their Olive Oil Cake dessert to go. The bartenders taking care of the happy hour crowd were easy to chat with, polite, checked in every so often. The one gentleman was so nice as to happily get me a sample of their hummus, so I could try it before deciding to whether to get their Dip Trio. It was a bit to lemony for my likings, so I'm very grateful for the sample, as I'm not sure how many stars I'd give this Cameron Mitchell restaurant if I would have paid $9 for something I didn't like. I loved my California roll. Super fresh veggies. Whatever kind of soy sauce is used here, it was quite good, too; some places use cheap Kikomon or off brand, and you can really tell in the salty aftertaste. Again, kudos to the staff. The gal next to me ordered their liquid smoke drink, and it was pretty neat to watch them cup and then let the smoke out. It would be nice if they'd do the whole spiel in front of the customer and not off to the side with their back to the customers, as it's a $15 splurge. I couldn't pass up the chance to try Hudson 29's Olive Oil Cake - I feel like this is not a common dessert, so every once in a great while I feel like indulging, so olive oil cake is my current sweet treat. I'll just say it's was a rich, moist, dreamy end to the night! I look forward to trying more things on H29's dinner menu. I believe they do serve brunch on the weekends, so I'm assuming that's a solid option also. read more

Someone told me this place had the BEST sushi, so being the sushi expert I am ... I had to try it. Let me preface by saying.. this is not the best sushi I've had, not even in Columbus lol. It was decent, the spicy mayo really overpowered the rolls it was on. We did get the cheese rolls which were really good, honestly the best part of our entire experience ! The service was ok, but not what I'd expect for a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. Lastly there was a bug that came out on our soy sauce holders .. I took my mom here for her birthday and we both loved it! The staff was friendly, attentive and seated us immediately. We sat outdoors on the patio, which was lovely. My mom got the salmon and I got the NY strip. Both were amazing and the sides they came with were so good too! Perfect pairing. We also got the cheesy stuffed rolls and they were incredible! Just as good as they look in the pic. We were too full for dessert but the dessert menu looked delicious. Definitely will have to come back for that! read more

To start, we were late being seated because the party ahead of us would not leave. When I made the reservation, I was ASSURED that the heated patio would be warm enough. It was not. When we got back there, only 1 heater was on over our table. We had to request several times for it to be adjusted before it felt warm. Even with that, you could still feel wind underneath the table. Towards the end of our meal, a server let a couple out the door from the patio letting in FRIGID air...and we had a baby in our party. Service: very slow in bringing requested items(it was as if they forgot we were out there). 2 people who had salads had to ask where they were when others came out. Appetizers and the entree came out at the same time. The 2 people who had French fries with their meal stated they were lukewarm. It was disappointing as I had been here before and the service was so much better. The heated patio is not suitable for January in Ohio. It's clear that you want to capitalize on space and not about the comfort of your guests. read more

Order Hudson a lot for lunch bc it's near where I work. I've had some very good menu items from here, but something I found strange is the inconsistency. I order the roasted chicken salad often and I swear it always shows up differently. Still good, but I just think that's interesting. They have some yummy sushi and the burger is to die for, except I think it's worth noting that the cheeseburger on the menu comes as a double. HUGE portion sizes for most meals. Fries could be improved. I want to say I've never actually eaten inside this restaurant, so who knows what the experience is like inside! I think takeout can be improved, though. read more

So, the picture attached was taken about an hour after leaving the restaurant & I actually still cannot believe they brought this out to me. I still feel sick! All the white pieces you see are FAT! I had this sent back twice to be cooked some more because it was sent out to me still alive. The third time it came out, I tried a couple of bites as you can see, however; it was still just SO raw and like I said, I had already sent it back a couple of times to be cooked. Each time that they took my plate, someone new would come out and explain that this meat is roasted over a 12 hour period and this is just the way it looks, but that it is in fact, cooked thoroughly. It did not taste cooked, nor did it look it, Therefore; I sat at my birthday dinner without a plate of food in front of me for the majority of the time. To top this all off - our waitress told us that like my daughter, her daughter is mixed (black & white) and how "nappy" her daughters hair is. We were taken aback by the use of this racially insensitive & derogatory term and extremely offended. So, in conclusion; this is probably not a place I would like to revisit. The vibe was nice and for the most part, customer service was on point, however; I'm just not sure about the food or their caucasian employees running around describing black hair as "nappy" when it is simply a texture of hair they aren't used to styling. Our recent visit was the 2nd time we've visited this restaurant this year, but we visited several times in 2020 and several times earlier than that. In July of this year, we visited with my sister and her husband (he's a retired Boston area restaurant professional). They both ordered steaks at that time and were disappointed: my sister got a filet mignon and my brother-in-law prime rib. In both cases the beef was overcooked and less than generous, portion-wise. We were frankly disappointed during our more recent visit, as was the case earlier in 2021. We love the location (in the center of New Albany) and the ambience. However, the food was again lacking. I got salmon. It was overcooked and dry. My wife had a chilean sea bass which was good. The couple we were with both got beef: one person had a filet mignon which was butterflied (which she didn't request) and was overcooked. The other person got prime rib, also overcooked and very small. Not a good value for the $$$. read more

I love me a good Cameron Mitchell restaurant but I must say that this one might be my least favorite so far. (And I REALLY like all of them so even saying it's a "least" favorite isn't really that constructive.) This one had been on my list for awhile and I'm glad I went. Would like to give it another try, but as of right now it stands at "Average/A-OK" status. The thing I enjoyed the most was the outdoor seating area. It was a nice spring day and my friend and I enjoyed sitting outside catching the breeze. I also really liked our server, Nick. He was super friendly. Actually, the whole wait staff here was very enjoyable. I also liked the spicy tuna sushi we had as our appetizer. Tasted super fresh. Which leads me into the things I didn't enjoy as much.... Like I said, sushi was great, super fresh. But in NO WAY was it worth $15!!!! WAYYYY overpriced! I mean my friend and I shared it and we ate that thing in probably 45 seconds. The pieces are incredibly small. I'd say it's worth $7-$8. You're better off going to Fusian and getting a roll twice as big for half the price. I opted for the burger since I really like the burger at The Guild House and I assumed it would be similar. Unfortunately, both the burger and fries tasted like greasy fast food. A lot of the fries were limp and just had too much grease. The burger was pouring out grease and just didn't have the flavor of the burger at The Guild House. I honestly didn't even finish it, which isn't like me (but I did end up taking the leftovers for lunch the next day). So like I said, this place it okay and I'd be willing to give it another shot. I just wouldn't recommend the burger and to spend that much on such a tiny sushi roll is just idiotic. read more

I had heard about Hudson 29 for a while and finally made a visit during Covid. It was not busy at all on a Tuesday night and our group was in a private room. We did a bunch of appetizers and then ordered entrees and sushi. The food was good. The service was lacking. We really didn't understand why the waitress couldn't visit once in a while when the rest of the restaurant had very few people in it. I'm not sure if the food was good enough to get me back there. Honestly, I love a great steak, french dip, and nice place to eat, this place flops. It looks as if this tea is trying to model hillstone corp that has banderas, Houston's, Los Altos grill and others across the US and really, it's not living up to reviews. Horrible French dip. I was told it's freshly made prime rib daily and sliced. I think they buy it already cooked. The edges of the prime rib in the sandwich were grilled/burnt and the au jus can make you sick. Thick reduction of broth so thick it's not used for dipping a sandwich. It's more of a "nice to have" item on the side for a touch of flavor. I'd take this off the menu as it fails in its name. The cheese bread? Gross cream in the middle. I can't believe this place is recommended, I'll pass next time. If you are over 65 go. The flowers in the center of the bar look like they came from - I'll pass on my thoughts. Very old looking establishment. If you are between 45 and 65, there are other places that actually make you smile when you walk in. I couldn't tell if this was a food establishment. read more

This experience was one of my favorites , the food, service and ambiance. My boyfriend and I booked a reservation For 8:15 pm on Valentine's Day. As soon as we arrived we were promptly seated. They sat us at a booth which was definitely too large for two people but nice because we were pretty isolated and definitely 6 feet away from others. We ordered a bottle of wine, and the cheesy bread roll appetizer. The appetizer was great, nothing too extraordinary but still delicious. It tasted like Bosco sticks. Perfect cheesiness. The rolls were soft. We were off to a strong start. For our main courses, I had the sea bass, which came on some rice and my boyfriend did the prime rib which came with a side of mashed potatoes, cooked medium rare. The sea bass dish has an Asian twist to it. It was filling but not an overwhelming amount of food. This may be the first restaurant I've gone to where I finished my entire plate. That sea bass was out of this world. An amazing garlic/ginger soy sauce topped the rice and sea bass. We also had a side of fries, which were crispy and cooked to perfection. For dessert, we had the Texas sheet cake and oh. My. God was it good. When first looking at it it didn't look like anything special but it was phenomenal!! It was a chocolate sheet cake topped with a layer of chocolate icing and some ice cream. The experience was great and definitely will be back! read more
