This was the closest bagel spot to my hotel and since I don't get super fancy with them I had a plain bagel with regular cream cheese and my husband had a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. The bottom of the barrel. They are sort of bagels, I guess. They are round & have holes. But, and I am being kind, they are sloppy, careless, they don't listen, they don't know how to toast anything, they taste stale and are hard even when fresh and they require you to take the bagel home and reassemble it yourself because they make them like wild wolverines have attacked the bagel with a blunt object ( see photo ). This place knows how to make a sandwich. We grabbed breakfast here before spending the day in the West Village. My sister had a ham bagel while I have mine with bacon egg and cheese. They make their own bread and bagels and it could not be more satisfying. They really pile on the meat and the cream cheese too. Heads up, they want you to know what you want right away. If you don't please let another guest go first. They take cash and a debit card. It is super tiny and not dine in. A Solid 3. Good, not terrible. A classic no frills bagel shop. This isn't your transplant-hipster bagel spot. Small selection of bagels which makes me feel as if they probably not baked on premises as well as a small CC selection. I ordered a BEC on an everything and was quite pleased. An ordinary BEC with slices of crispy bacon. Cheese was lacking though. I ordered the 2 eggs on a bagel and the price came out to a little over $4, which is still quite expensive even when considering it is NYC. Maybe it's just the current quarantine situation, but this was not a good bagel. I was craving a bagel, and my typical joint wasn't open, so I thought I would try Hudson Bagels. Ordered an everything bagel with egg, tomato, avocado and cheese. The tomato, egg, and cheese were fine (which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1), but the bagel itself was VERY stale, and there was a tiny sliver of avocado which was brown. I don't write many bad reviews, and can generally forgive a bad meal, but the gouged prices were my motivation for this report. I paid $8.27 for this sandwich!! I've never paid that much for a bagel sandwich. Murray's bagels are made fresh, and are delicious, and their egg sandwiches are less than $5. My search for a GOOD bagel in the Hudson square area continues.... The staff is friendly and attentive, but the bagels are small and dense. Like someone took a nice fluffy bagel and just compressed it. Not bad in a pinch and they give a generous amount of spread, but it's certainly no Murray's or Essabagel. read more

They had to close down the place due to sanitary issue. My friend got a bagel from there few days before that.. i mean it's kinda the only option for a bagel place in the area unless you venture out to grounded or murrays. I so want to support small businesses in West Village, as they are a dying breed. But was very disappointed with my visit today. I decided to treat myself to a carb-cheat bagel with lox cream cheese. l got there around noon, and everyone seemed very stressed on this beautiful Saturday. I ordered a Lox Cream Cheese on an Everything Bagel and watched him make it and he accommodated with capers, but not cucumbers. The girl in front of me had multiple orders she had to repeat a couple of times and they seemed very flustered. I paid for my bagel and tipped them because I felt bad for them. They are opening a new store on Christopher St about 2 blocks away between Bleecker and 7th next to London across from the church. Not sure when they will open but by the looks of it pretty soon. Best bagel I have had in the city. Bagels are made fresh on location not shipped in from Jersey like most bagel shops in NYC. Bacon egg and cheese on a bun was great. Pastries are great.
