I came to Murray's Bagels during a weekday lunch. I felt like the line wasn't too bad to order, and after ordering, I got it within 5-10 mins. I had the Traditional. Which is basically a salmon bagel with cream cheese plus the standard toppings. For the bagel, I got the everything bagel. I paired that with the strawberry cream cheese. Simply stated: my favorite bagel spot for over 15 years. The bagels, spreads, omg the spreads, the sandwiches so good, so big and the coffee!!! Some places can make an item and serve coffee and one or the other isn't as good as it should be. This place provides both. I always recommend them to people who are going to nyc. read more

I love Murray's ever since my first time in New York years ago. They're consistent, fast, good people that get your bagels right. I got the whole Megillah and they stuff it to the brim. It's really two bagels in one. I think I would have liked a saltier cream cheese spread to add a little more flavor but loved all the veggies. My friend got a breakfast bagel and loved it as well. The space here is really cute and spacious, which was a nice surprise in the middle of the city. It's definitely a place you can sit and relax for a bit. Unfortunately, the staff didn't add much to the experience. Even though it wasn't busy, they were pretty transactional and not especially welcoming. I wasn't expecting over-the-top friendliness, but it still felt a little cold. The menu is massive, which honestly felt more overwhelming than exciting. It took a while to sort through all the options, though I appreciated that they had a little "popular picks" section first time visitors (or just anyone who gets overwhelmed by too many options). I ended up ordering the BECA, which was huge and looked great, but it didn't quite deliver on flavor. The avocado kind of took over the whole thing, but weirdly, it didn't have much taste itself. It just muted the other ingredients instead of adding to them. The iced coffee, on the other hand, was genuinely great. It was strong, smooth, and refreshing. I ordered a takeout pick up order from here. It was super busy around 10:45am on a Wednesday. Orders are placed towards the back of shop and pick up is in the front. They call out your order number when it's ready. They have maybe half a dozen tables for seating. The pick up experience was a bit chaotic because they don't call out pick up orders by name if you placed them online or through an app. So you have to ask one of the employees and they have to retrieve the order from the back. My order was about 15-20 minutes delayed. Another woman was also waiting for quite awhile. The employee handing out orders had some extra bagel sandwiches and was kind enough to give them to us to make up for the wait. I ordered egg, cheese, jalapeños, and beyond sausage on a croissant. It was just okay. The jalapeños were pickled and a bit sour. The croissant dough wasn't the freshest. Even in a bagelcentric city like NY, the top quality of Murray's bagels and smoked fish stands out. For my first visit I splurged on "The Rivington", comprised of lox, sable, cream cheese, capers, sliced tomatoes and onion on your choice of bagel - in my case, everything flavor. The fish was fresh and absolutely delicious, as was everything else about the generously well constructed sandwich. I particularly liked the crunchy consistency of the bagel, no need for toasting. My partner got a turkey club which he said was yummy as well. The only (minor) downside was the small pickle which I would forego next time, not a biggie as everything else was plentiful with excellent value. Hello, I gave this place 3 chances and they messed up every time with my order. Every time ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with my eggs, it was a regular whole wheat bagel. If you place an order for organic bagel or gluten free along with the other options, you will never know which one is which. Not sure why the bad reviews, stumbled upon this bagel shop while in the area and enjoyed that it has a more mom and pop feel, in comparison to some other bagel shops.
