I have been here three times and all have been a great experience!! Very prompt and friendly service. Ive had the same server each time and very much enjoy his service, he is great and friendly!! I usually get the chicken curry, which is flavorful and the meat is tender! It's way more than enough, considering they give you more rice if you need it! Could probably feed 2 people honestly. Ive also gotten mango lassi, which is a mango yogurt drink for those who don't know and it's so good! This time I also got the samosas (1 vegetable & 1 meat) and they were so good! I prefer the vegetable one. The samosas came with 3 dressings, 1 green, 1 sweet, and 1 spicy. The green Im assuming is parsley, the sweet Im assuming tamarind, and the spicy one had onions - regardless, all so yummy I even saved some for my rice and curry. Their nan is great too! Fresh and hot. Honestly it was so disconcerting to read the bad reviews about this place, especially throwing low blows at their decor. Ignore the bad reviews and try it!!! Yes it was an old wendys, but its really nice and clean inside, and they serve the curry and sauces in pretty copper ware. As in my past experiences with them, food was tasty, well prepared, and to put it mildly generous portions ( I have enough for another full meal ) Love their vegetable pakora, but everything has been equally good. I'm a big fan of their vegetable soup, Aloo Motar Gobi and their buffet on Wednesday and Friday nights. I go here often as I love to eat Indian food, it's very affordable, and the staff is very sweet. That said, I do wish the tables linens and and booths were better kept. I don't mind so much that the decor in the restaurant is outdated, but it often appears that the front of house area could use a more thorough cleaning. The Indian food at this restaurant definitely tasted authentic but lacked any real spice and flavor. The decor was horrible and had terrible florescent lighting and bad colored tablecloths. Been on our list for many months, finally stopped in Saturday night. My Wife was able to get the required coconut chicken and I tried the meat Thali. Both were exceptional, meats were tender and fresh and the spice was exactly as requested. The Tandoor chicken was the most tender we've ever had. One of the worst Indian food experiences I have had! Overpriced food and rude staff with no consideration for customer satisfaction. Portion sizes in the thali (both veg and non-veg) were small and the curries were bland. Different meat dishes in meat thali tasted the same(chicken tikka was not too bad) and chana masala in the veg thali had raw garlic odor. They even charge for chutney, papad and pickle, which are usually given free of cost in other Indian restaurants! The staff were not flexible in modifying the order according to food preference of customers and argued that it was against their "rules". Overall, it was an extremely disappointing experience. I moved up to the Hudson valley not too long ago after growing up and spending many years in the city. I was very used to many different type of cuisine all around me and was sad for quite sometime feeling limited on options of types of food. I was a bit hesitant at first as the outside still has the appearance of a fast food place but do not let that fool you. My boyfriend and I ordered a few different dishes and was so happy with everything there. So happy that I'm having it again tonight for dinner. Will be a frequented place for me now. read more

Anyone who's been to an authentic Indian restaurant will know this place is a FRAUD.  I ordered poori, nan, samosas (vegetable), and vegetarian tikka masala.  The breads were fine and authentic, unlike the dishes.  The samosas  were filled with nothing but thinly seasoned cubed potatoes, nearly tasteless.    The traditional chickpea filling was entirely absent.  Indian tikka masala is a rich tomato-infused sauce.  What I got was this pink slime full of flavorless vegetables.  Absolutely no tomato in there.  Dine at this place and you are being had. read more

Kind of liked this was in an old Wendy's storefront. Delicious Indian food. Take out only but drive through window was really convenient. Loved the chicken korma, tikka masala, and the dal. On Thursday for lunch I had two vegetable Samosas as an appetizer and the meal was Malai Kofta with Nan on the side. Everything was so yummy! Hudson Curry House is consistently good Indian food. I have been to the buffet there three times, and I have gotten take out from them three times. The last time I got take out from them, I noticed that they have improved a dish, Chana Bhaji. I was pleasantly surprised by that. Everything is always very tasty. I especially like their rice pudding. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. I spent fifty dollars there, and that worked out to be four meals. To be able to feed four people (assuming moderate appetites) for under 15 a person is great. There is a wide variety on the menu, and plenty of vegetarian dishes. The nan bread is quite good, as is the poori bread. I really recommend this place as a take out joint. They make the food fast. 15 minutes for my order. Really good! read more

The worst Indian food experience I had in the US. All the curries tasted the same. The food was extremely bland. The staff is very rude and lack courtesy. We wanted to order a meat thali, but wanted a vegetarian item instead of 3 meat items on the menu. Instead of helping the customers, we were subjected to an argument and mistreatment. Being an Indian, I prefer to go to Indian restaurants. But, I would never go to this place again. This restaurant should not claim itself to be an Indian restaurant. Finally a great Indian restaurant in Hudson! For anyone who loved eating at the Red Hook Curry House you no longer have to drive! All the same favorites are here and everything is super fresh and delicious. They have a true tandoori oven so the naan is really naan and they make their own chutneys! As a huge foodie, this is my first time writing a review because it was that bad. Maybe I just came on a bad night but DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. This post is worth reading. Food was mediocore after waiting for 55 minutes of service. My boyfriend and I have traveled all over the states to find the best indian restaurants. We found we really liked Shalimar in Clifton park for the high quality of food, authenticity and pricing. However, being that we are from Hudson, it was as far travel for us. We recently found the best indian restaurant 30 minutes away called Aroma that we immediately fell in love with. After driving by to the grocery store, we noticed we now have a local indian restaurant and we were super excited. We came into the restaurant at 8:00 pm and got seated at 8:03pm. The waiters seemed rushed and stressed. They seated us and handed us menus. We finished selecting our food in 5 minutes and we waited another 20 minutes for someone to give us a cup ... an empty one. Which they filled 10 minutes later. After 35 minutes, they came around to take our order. My boyfriend often gets the Chicken Tikka Masarla extra extra spicy and all restaurants that we have been to understands what this means. The waiter argued that he cannot have it that way because it is meant to be a mild dish. After finally going back and forth, he recommended another dish that was spicy instead of listening to us that we wanted extra spice added to our food. We ordered the Samosas which came 20 minutes later. They tasted great, we thought at although the service is terrible the food will be great. Our naan came and it was super oily and doughy .. not the fluffy crispy light that we normally eat. Our chicken tikka masala dish was good. But at this point we did not wait almost an hour to eat our food to experience GOOD. We had 3 people constantly ask us how our food was while we were eating. Looked around and everyone looked angry and hungry waiting to eat. People also got up and left and the restaurant wasn't full. Everything was disorganized. We ended up receiving our food, having a few bites and left because the environment was negative. Never coming back again. INTERIOR I also didn't like that I felt like I was in Wendy's and not in India. The booths and glass are still in the same style as when this was Wendy's. IT did not feel authentic. I've helped to open many restaurants in the past and owners prep, train and make sure that everything is almost perfect for grand opening. Grand opening night is ALWAYS a huge success. THEY WERE NOT READY TO OPEN. I know there are many people that came there that will never come back including myself. They could had much more success if they took the time to open. Looks like we will be driving 30 minutes out to our Favorite Aroma in Pittsfield,MA . That place will be hard to top. They make you feel welcomed and the food is amazing. Hudson Curry House was VERY overpriced for the quality of food they provided. The chicken doesn't taste like it was marinated for long and was almost gummy. read more

Chain restaurant turned dine in restaurant with glass tabletops and cloth napkins. The place was 3/4 prepared for an influx of customers, with some spare tablescloths left out exposed on a makeshift shelf and take out menus corrected in black pen. They are still taking off. There were three men who had discernable ties to the restaurant. The man at the cashier was not very friendly, they have a bench at the front to wait for take out right by the bathrooms which were very clean. I ordered take out. One of the men was seated at a table with children eating, and would walk back and forth between the back kitchen and his table which signified to me that he worked there in some capacity. The third guy was the most hard working and was constantly back and forth between the kitchen and tables serving food. Their presentation was nice and their portions were generous from what I saw. I ordered naan for my sister and it was quite pricey for the size of it 4$. The lighting is still that of the former chain and they would benefit from changing it to more subdued lighting. I would come back here to dine in to see how a full service experience is however I suggest the greeter be kinder to people ordering take out because that will determine repeat business. Arrived late on a Sunday night with my family and the service couldn't have been better. They accommodated us and allowed us to order a take out even though they were closing. The food was delivered quickly and it was a lovely meal. They had an extensive menu and will assist you in choosing both mild or spicy dishes.
