Namaste Indian Restaurant has become my go-to spot for food in Saugerties. Every time I order from here, the dishes are consistently rich, well-seasoned, and satisfying. My family and I stopped here after a long trip to the mountains, and it was exactly what we needed! From the moment we arrived, the food and service were amazing. The staff accommodated us right away, even though they were preparing for a large party to come in, which we really appreciated. We started with the samosas, which were absolutely delicious and a great way to begin the meal. For our entrées, we ordered the paneer makhani, malai kofta, bhindi masala, chicken tikka, yellow zaffrani dal, along with chili garlic naan, racha paratha, and tandoori roti. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and delicious. They also specially made the food extra spicy for us, which was perfect and showed how accommodating they were to our preferences! The food was amazing and the servers were very nice! The interior could use a bit more color, but it's made up for by the wonderful food.

This place is our go-to for Indian food. We always get the garlic naan, vegetable pakoras, navratan korma, and chana masala. Came here after outdoor activities with friends. We ordered multiple dishes including plain + garlic naan, chicken tikka massala, mango lassi, and lamb saag. The mango lassi, naans, and saag were great. They were on point. But, the chicken tikka massala wasn't great. It didnt taste fresh and felt disappointing. Anyhow, still think this restaurant is good for what you get at remote location. Would definitely come back again in the future : ) read more

BUYER BE WARE !!! i have ordered food to go many times in the past and I always notice the price increases each time, however the last time i ordered to go food, i asked to order the vegetable briyani ( this is a simple container of rice and a bit (and I mean a little bit of vegetables) they wanted to charge me $15.99 for RICE,, are you kidding me, I told them to keep it. i also ordered a cheese nan bread, i went home 4 min. away and the cheese nan was like eating a redial tire, with no sign of cheese at all. that' s enough for me, I wil not give them any more of my business. read more

My friends and I stopped here after a long day of fiber events. We were exhausted and hungry. The restaurant is small, but it's clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and the chef even came out to make sure he properly understood one person's order request. The food was fresh made and it was absolutely delicious. Ordered a takeout order through grubhub at 6:45 and even though grub hub showed Pickup between 7:15-7:25 I reached restaurant and they told me the pickup time is 7:35 and even after 7:35 I was able to get the food around 7:55. After waiting for more than 30 mins to pickup my food ,I found that my order was totally wrong and couple of items were sent wrong. read more

We were psyched about going since Saugerties is a ride but we were in the area. Hours are hit and miss. It was well after 4pm and the place was locked up tight. Tried calling from the parking lot but no one picked up. A minute later im receiving a text asking me to submit an order online. Very Bad Experience. They advertise closing time 2:30 pm. we drove almost 50 miles from Roxbury just to get Indian food. we arrived at 1:44 pm. They had big red sign "OPEN" and was a board "Clise 2:30 0'pn - 4:30 pm). They refused to accept walk in at 1:44 pm 46 minutes before closing time. Request to talk to owner who was not present. Talked to owner over the phone he said 8 min to close (1:52 pm). however we entered at 1:44 pm. He refused us. He said he doesn't care if you want to write bad review. I went about 820pm on a Friday I think. They close at 9. I ordered the goat Karahai. This was delicious. I didn't like how big the pieces of onion and pepper were cut though. This is unusual for desi food. The achari chicken tikka took a really long time (20+ minutes) to come out sizzling. I basically had to pack it up to go once it came out because it was almost 9. I tried a piece before I left though. The chicken was quite bland. I didn't even eat it. They have plastic to go containers surprisingly. I felt rushed towards the end but I knew this would be the case. I got mango lassi which was good. The naan and rice were good as well. There were many carry out orders. read more

We arrived a little after 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday evening. The website indicated that the restaurant was open until 9:00 p.m. There was a line of people at the counter and no staff present. There were people seated at the table near the door. Most of the tables were set with place settings. We sat for 15 or 20 minutes waiting for some acknowledgment that we had come in. Finally, I approached the staff person to ask about dinner. He said, "oh no we're too busy and there's no dine in this evening." That's fine if you want to make that choice. However, in the interest of not wasting people's time, they should post a sign on the door that says there is no dine in this evening. Alternatively, they could post it on their website. This was a very disappointing experience. And now, I don't know that I can ever trust that I could have a meal there again. read more

This was the absolute worst Indian food I have eaten on Earth. There must be a lot of relatives writing these 5 star reviews, because I would give this a negative rating if I could. I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants locally and abroad. I always order dishes that I am familiar with, and dishes that I can compare to the GOOD Indian dishes I have experienced. I usually begin with a soup. I passed on the 4 soup selections they offer, because there was very little or no explanation as to what to expect. They sound like any canned soup you could purchase at Shop Rite. So instead we started out with two appetizers, first up... the Chicken Samosa. This was nothing but fried, greasy, tasteless crumbled bread. Then Chicken Pakora was also greasy and tasteless. If there are any Indian spices in this dish, the oil smothered the taste. Next my friend had the Kadai Goat. He said it was ok, and that was all he would say about it. I had the Shahi Murgh Korma. I rated it as edible, but I would recommend the bottled Korma sauce from Aldie's over grilled chicken before recommending this dish to anyone. The server was very nice. The dining room seemed to be an afterthought. The ambiance at Stewart's on the corner has more charm. It was January. They had little to no heat on in the place. We never took our coats off, and consequently our food didn't stay warm. There were no other customers dining in the place. Every time someone came in for their pickup order, the temperature dropped even more, and there was nowhere else in the place to sit where it would have been more comfortable. read more

Living in Queens for many years I have had all different regions and various versions of indian food. So finding a small indian place in Saugerties I was a bit skeptical and didn't know what to expect. To my family's delight we were ecstatic to find this gem. There is definitely small twists on the dishes then we are use to but this is a welcoming change. The popular Chicken tiki is as creamy and flavorful as you would expect it but it also has a decent amount of nicely sized chopped onions and green peppers. The dal makhani is also a tad different with the addition of what seems like red kidney beans and tomatoes. What ever or however they are doing it differently it's delicious. Overall everything we have tried is delicious and we have quickly become regulars. read more

After residing in Saugerties for the past 17 months, I finally tried this restaurant which is just about 1 mile from where I live. I highly recommend that you go there only for takeout. While I had hoped to enjoy a sit-down meal with my wife here, I opted for takeout after noting certain off-putting things about the restaurant's ambiance - or lack thereof. The restaurant's front windows, and especially the front door's windows could use some attention to cleanliness. When entering, you are not greeted by a host station. You need to walk to the rear of the restaurant to where the kitchen is located to interact with the host. The host was cordial but could have been more welcoming - especially since the restaurant was totally empty. Ordered up some appetizer and entree selections to go. While waiting for our order, I noted that the men's room door had an assortment of hand prints on it. Come on folks, I used to own and operate a diner hands on - it doesn't take much effort to attend to the cleanliness and overall appearance of your eatery. Roll up your sleeves and get down to it. And, above one of the dining tables, in the vicinity of hanging artwork, was a dead bug on the wall. I kept my fingers crossed that it was not a cockroach. The food items we selected tasted very good. However, I'd rather drive 10 miles to Woodstock to enjoy Indian food at a restaurant located there. It has a welcoming atmosphere that entices you to eat-in. I can't imagine that Namaste can survive for the long-term if it doesn't step up its game when it comes to cleanliness and ambiance. We ordered take out for 3 people December 12, 2020. Shag didn't taste good, drowned in oil, threw out. Popperdom were over fried and RANCID, disappointed, we threw it out. Potato and Cauliflower was tasty and edible. Golden Dal was the best part because it was normal and tasty. Shrimp was drowned in oil, otherwise tasty. Maybe it was a bad night. They really need to reduce the sheer quantity of OIL, and make sure it's NOT RANCID! Regarding the Health Score of 66 out of 100, they really need to clean up to meet American health standards. Get a new inspection and Score 100 by solving your problems. I've traveled all over India and eaten Indian food at many restaurants, both in NYC and other places. I recently ordered the same dish I wrote about in my last review, the Aloo Papri Chaat (without yogurt) and it was completely different. The potatoes were under cooked, and it was like a totally different dish, though the flavors were okay, aside from the hard potatoes, it's not what I was expecting. My wife and I have been desperate for quality Indian food in the Kingston area. This restaurant delivered the goods. The food was fresh and incredibly flavorful. You can taste a full range of flavors enigmatic of quality Indian cuisine. They clear use fresh vegetables because the red bell peppers and onions were the perfect consistency of well-cooked yet still having that fresh veggie crunch. We got two vegetarian dishes and a lamb dish. All three were amazing and beat our expectations. I'm just now digging into the leftovers and they actually taste even better a day later. Ordered tandoori chicken. Brought it home. Chicken looked delicious but was raw inside. Very tough. Not edible. Tried to zap it in the microwave and it lost it's tandoori flavor and became a rubbery mess. Rice was also missing. Also no breast meat. All thighs and drum . Advertised as 1/2 a chicken. It's okay - Veg. Somosas were nice and crispy, but overly salted. Veg. Vindaloo wasn't the least bit spicy, lacked flavor and variation as far as veggies. This is my go-to dish because I love spice. I was pretty disappointed. Garlic naan was light and fluffy, but there wasn't much garlic taste, weird. I grew up on Indian food so I'm super picky, but this spot just didn't do it for me. Don't miss this place. I ordered a goat, lamb, and cheese dish. All were delicious. They've been in business for four years and made it through covid (without any help from the landlord, who sounds like a slumlord to me! He won't fix their air conditioning, didn't help them with rent). They closed down their in person dining and only have take out! please support them. We ordered several dishes for takeout yesterday and among them was Gobi Manchurian, described as "Fried patties of chopped cauliflower". Although the dish was tasty, it was not as described. The cauliflower was not shopped nor was it made into patties. We also ordered Chicken Seekh Kabab which was described as "Tender rolls of ground chicken...". The rolls were anything but tender - they were tough and difficult to chew. Based on other reviews, we thought that we had found a good Indian restaurant in Saugerties. Have to agree with the other five-star ratings on this one - Namaste is definitely deserving of the top rating! Every recipe executed beautifully and deliciously - from papadum to garlic naan to chicken, goat, lamb and vegetarian classics! Even their vindaloo is excellent - with the emphasis far more on flavor than spice. The ONLY side point worth mentioning - their lunch buffet is not offered on Tuesdays. Delicious! read more

The food is great if you're looking for some solid Indian food, but depending on the day the service can be pretty awful. Everyone working there means well and seems to care, but I think when they're short on cooks and high on orders the service completely falls apart. It's totally unfortunate, but accurate because it's been a few times. If you're willing to get some awesome food and sacrifice service and wait time you'll probably still be happy with the food.
