I went there while they were hosting a private event that included poetry night. The food was ok, but I really can't judge because there really wasn't a pescatarian or dairy free option. With that, I made-due with what was available and it was cool. The lighting is low- which Is good for a date night. The service was good. First of all the service was excellent, probably the biggest plus. The hostess went way out of her way to get us a table when we didn't have a reservation. The waitress was also very helpful and attentive. The decor was nice but a little slapdash. It felt a little cheap. Which, for a place where cocktails are between $18-20, I expect more of a luxurious environment. The drinks tasted good but were very week. The new fashioned in particular is clearly supposed to a play on an old fashioned. But unlike an old fashioned it had very little alcohol. The glass was less than half full and with the giant ice cube there was only about five mouthfuls there. Everything we got was overpriced for what it was and the presentation was just alright. Lastly, I had gotten the impression from their socials that there was dancing downstairs. The downstairs was a lot larger than I expected. Again, the thought was there with the decor but the execution wasn't quite there. On a Friday at 11pm there was no dancing or dj. Unless the dj was the person that was just playing ambient music at the normal level you'd expect at a sit down bar? Anyway, there did not appear to be any space to dance and no one was. So if that's what you're looking for that may not be the case even on a weekend night. read more

After being seated and looking at the menu, my group left. It's more of an Asian infusion place, which I don't eat and on a very limited menu. The music seemed nice, but not my vibe. The other issue is the menus weren't consistent. They each had difference prices, therefore, which one will they honor? The menu they offered in person did not include one single option from the menu they display online. They also charge a cover fee at the door and have missing toilet seats in the women's bathroom. The chicken skewers were $18 and came with 2 skewers with 3 pieces of chicken each, which were a tad bit smaller than a McNugget for scale and all drinks are served in single use plastic cups. You pay a lot simply to be there; but you aren't guaranteed even a full meal for the money you provide. read more

We attended the Hue for my mom's birthday dinner. We went to the lower level Hue dinner space. It's decorated really nice. The space is huge! Everything looks picturesque. You feel like you're in a fancy club. We ordered the seared scallops (ok) , miso Ceasar (very good), braised short rib (ok) , pot stickers (ok), salmon entree (very good), duck confit (good) and salt and schezuan shrimp (ok). The drinks were pretty. I had some lavender gin drink that was phenomenal. Rest of the drinks we tried were just ok for me. I'd definitely go again. Loved the music! Unfortunate first time experience. 1st & LAST! Wont be back. We had reservations for a low key birthday outing for a friend. Our first order of 1 mocktail & 1 Old fashioned cocktail with an order of wings and recommended lambchops (small & tough). Everything came out some what late and luke warm. Some how DRINKS CAME AFTER THE LATE FOOD? Ok things happen. When the 3rd member of our party arrived it was worse. We ordered a French 75, Fries & Pork belly and an additional Mocktail for the non drinker of the table. The French 75 came out again maybe 25 mins after being ordered. To be fair when ONLY two bartenders are working on a Saturday evening that is to be expected I suppose. However the two dishes (both fried items) took about 46 mins respectfully, one came cold like it was just sitting AND the additional Mocktail rounded out the wait to just under an hour...For a drink with NO alcohol?? The waitress was apologetic and took the cold pork belly over to the female owner in the corner who immediately walked it back to the kitchen. The Fries that I totally forgot about came out with new Pork belly about 10 mins later, and the waitress also came back with the mocktail and said that she would take it off of the bill for the delay. Again fine...We are not that unreasonable. Then comes a young lady dressed in all black with an afro apologizing for " our experience" her words, and said that they will NOT be charging the table and that the restaurant will be handling the bill. This was NOT our request. But very Hospitable! We thanked her and begin wrapping up our evening. The waitress came back and said would you like anything else. I actually REITERATED what the woman in black said about the bill being taking care of, but said I actually will take another French 75 and I will absolutely pay for it. This was the verbal exchange I had with her. It wasn't until we were waiting ANOTHER almost 25-30 mins for this second French 75' that we gave up. I walked the cash tip over to the waitress at the bar and said we are leaving cancel that drink and started to leave. I was completely DUMBFOUNDED when the waitress runs us down and says the manager said the entire bill is not paid just the late items would be removed. She gets the woman in black who comes over and says YES...I did say that we would comp your table, but I was mistaken. We are only removing the late items. Excuse me? Without argument even after her blatant renege of what she said, something that we NEVER requested, I handed her my credit card. To which we had to stand in the entrance waiting yet again, as if we attempted to run out on a bill for her to adjust it. I walk back over to the bar to sign, she hands me the receipt and just walks away with no regard, no conversation. Oh and the second very late Mocktail was never removed. Just grossly unacceptable all around. The bill is secondary, the treatment of patrons is intolerable. read more

Hue is dope! Amazing spot to get dressed and go out with the girlfriends or a sexy date night. I had a girlfriend date last night and we ordered half the menu! The food was soo good and came out the quick. My favorite dish was the escargot definitive the best thing on the menu, second fav was the bok choy. Like many others I was excited about HUE with it being one of the few black owned lounges in Boston. Being and avid foodie and working as an event manger, I always make it a point to check out the new places and gauge my own option. I went on a Saturday night with a reservation for 9:15. Upon arrival I checked in with the host who informed me our table would be ready shortly and I could wait at the bar. Fast forward 40 mins later I went back to check only to see that there were several tables vacant and the host has gotten side tracked and forgot about us. This part was less than ideal. We ordered the salmon, sticky wings and fried rice. All items are good but by no means blew my mind away. There are also other floors however take note that during busy times they will not let you downstairs without a reservation. This was unfortunate as when I made the reservation they had said we can eat upstairs and then check out the other spaces. Overall the ambiance is nice and it does seem like it will do well in its location. While it is black owned I wouldn't quite categorize it as a "go to" black locals spot considering the location and primary audience it is geared towards. Hopefully in the coming weeks they get a better system in place for managing the crowds so that people can be able to get the full experience regardless of the time and move freely between all floors. I would also like to see a bit more diversity with the menu. Menu has much more of an Asian flair which isn't bad but a nice Afro-Asian diaspora fusion would be nice and give this spot an upper hand against all the other similar menus in the area. Overall location is great especially for tourist, food is subpar and ambiance is nice. It wouldn't quite be on the top of my list to come back but again I definitely suggest folks go and gauge your own opinion. read more

I definitely recommend this restaurant. There were some hits and misses, but overall it was good. The Szechuan rock pepper shrimp was the best thing we ordered 10/10. We also got the steak Frites in which flavor was very good, but it was a bit chewy for a medium steak. The drinks were flavored well, but not very strong in terms of alcohol content. I went to Hue's speakeasy on my husbands birthday trip to Boston. Making reservations was very easy, and we were greeted very kindly by staff at the door. The speakeasy section was cozy and secluded which I liked. Service was very quick and our waiter was so kind and professional. At about 11, they started letting people from the other room come into the speakeasy section which was absolutely fine. Music was excellent and I didn't feel rushed out of my seat. I ordered the fried pork belly, wings, and half chicken which was so delicious. My husband had the duck with an excellent potato salad. I would definitely recommend Hue! read more

This is actually two locations - a reservation-only speakeasy downstairs with music, karaoke, poetry, etc. and a restaurant upstairs. The restaurant is very loud due to echo but if you eat outside it's not bad. Young, college-age crowd and a few professionals. Located on corner of Copley Square Hotel. The hostess told us there would be a wait although there were about nine empty tables. She sat us quickly after cleaning a table. She sent a few people away, maybe because they wanted the fully-booked speakeasy. There seemed to be too few servers. We went at 8:30 pm on Saturday 5/13 and it seemed like a second wave was coming in at 9:00 pm, so it may be a late crowd normally. Friendly, helpful greeter/maitre de and server. Ordered small plates - tempura vegetables, potstickers, and fried rice without the duck. All pretty good, a bit salty. Decent drinks. read more

We're always excited to try a new place, and from the photos I had seen beforehand, we expected so much. While they clearly spent alot of time and thought putting the place together, it just didn't work for us. Firstoff, felt like we were in a basement, and Yes, I knew this beforehand, but still didn't care for it. The menu was unique and expensive to say the least. We could not find anything to choose since the choices were so bizarre, and to boot the service was awful. Clearly startup issues which I am sure will be worked out eventually. There were no really great food choices, and what they had were tiny and overpriced. Lastly, the place was empty, and it took us 25 minutes to get a drink. The Hue is a hot space in a hotel in Boston with a five star staff. Carmela is an amazing event planner who keeps you informed, thinks of everything, and creates the perfect party space with some of the best food in town. She knows how to run this venue and provide the exact experience you need. She staffed our party with mixologists Carla and Josh. Two of the fastest, kindest bartenders I've ever seen. Everyone who works here is on top of service, upbeat, and helpful. I highly recommend renting out space or planning a party here. The speakeasy is one of the best run, intimate, event spaces I've ever experienced. read more

OK let's talk Hue Boston, it is quite a beautiful establishment. The decor and ambience are AMAZING. Definitely five-star visuals from the entryways to the bathrooms and their cleanliness even with the crowds. The lighting was perfect for the space. The variety in the spaces/floors was wonderful. Now let's talk drinks...while I don't drink alcohol I judge restaurants that can not make an amazing Mocktail. It was yummy and I would have had another if I wasn't full. Service: they were attentive, kind, and did their jobs efficiently. Lastly, let's talk about the food. This was a HUGE let down. I liked the duck fried rice. I liked the Thai chili wings, and I shared some french fries with my friend who got a steak dish. After the yucky appetizers I was heading for a Caesar salad and my people told me to try the rice and I did. The crab rangoon was cold and absolutely terrible. It was like a cream cheese ball flavored with nothingness. The cauliflower tasted like charred water...how the heck do you mess up cauliflower? I don't know but Hue managed it. The pork belly was also basic as well. I opted for Thai chili wings and the fried rice as a safe meal choice. My friend got the beef noodles and liked them but was disappointed in the portion for the price. My other friend tried the steak frites med well and they came out so close to well done. While m I am all for supporting businesses that are at least partially minority owned I can't support/frequent a restaurant that looks five-star has a great ambience, has the "in "crowd, great music and drinks but the food is trash. I'm not going to split a five star bill for sub par food. Lastly, they ran out of dessert. ALL desserts. ALL. So we sing happy birthday with the table light. We've decided to head to Yardhouse for dessert and apps. We really wished we had gone there instead of Hue. Aside from amazing pictures and company...it's a hard NO for now. All the money we spent on food and parking should have left us craving more. Instead we were all heading home looking for healthy snacks in the wee hours of the morning. If you go to Hue I suggest that you eat before you arrive or after you leave. You can find a great ambience. You would have a great time with great company. You're going to take amazing pictures but as far as eating...again SAVE your coins for food with flavor. Go to Maestro, Delfriscos, Ocenairre, Morton's, Yard House...heck even the Panera salad would have got me right. They get a nice 7 out of 10 on the food we liked, a 1 or 0 out of 10 on all the other food. The food is disgusting! This is a wanna be Sei Less (NYC). But major fail. Only redeeming quality is the ambiance and service. But I'm not going to a lounge or restaurant for just those things. The food sucked 0/10, the drinks 5/10, and DJ sucked but that's pretty typical for Boston (no surprise there). I've worked in the industry myself and rarely send back food. But our server saw the look on our faces when we bit into the crab Rangoon, fried rice, and wings and took em back before we could even say a word. So gross. Went in starving and couldn't even eat. I was so excited to try Hue, especially as a Black owned business. We loved the atmosphere -- the decor, lighting and music promised for a great date night. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the service we received from our server Paige. Paige greeted us with water on arrival but failed to tell us until we were ordering specific items that they were different from what was listed on the menu. We ordered 3 small plates and 2 large plates saying we'd start with the small plates. Instead, all 5 plates were brought out together filling our table to the brim and the emptied dishes weren't even cleared by Paige or any of the staff passing by to help clear the table. The cauliflower small plate we got was raw cauliflower that was charred on the outside and we were not a fan of the sea bass. It lacked flavor and didn't come with any type of spoon for the broth. Paige didn't once check in with us on how we felt about our food or drinks during the meal and didn't refill our water until we finished dinner. Instead she was chatting in the corner with the bartender where they were talking about and pointing at other patrons in the restaurant. Had dinner in the rose bar section, it was an OK experience Cute design on the inside. The music did not quite match the aesthetic although the walls and set up was very cool. The best part by far was the cocktails, great presentation and variety, and the 2 we had were fantastic The food left a lot to be desired. We were very excited about the menu when we looked at it. We got a bunch of the small plates, but it seemed like most were frozen food reheated. The service was good, nothing noteworthy to report.
