This was great during the early years but has been sliding over the last year or better. The grill is fine but same selections. We keep adding more sauce because it comes back dry but they just let it burn on the grill and don't really make an effort to mix it in. Ice cream machine has been broken for months or at least every visit we've made which is three over last 4-5 months Pop machine more empty than full- zero /0/nada/ no diet pop of any kind today which was unbelievable- so I paid for soda but had to have water Even 1/2 of the table napkin dispensers were empty. So bad on all counts except the friendliness of employees; they were decent and helpful. *No carbonation in sodas dispensed from soda machine. *No shrimp on the buffet table despite it being advertised as a Friday night offering - ran out and never bothered to refill while I was there. *Ice machine in soda dispenser not working - had to hand shop ice from a shared oversized spoon. I know my review lacks a long list of specifics, but it was so bad that I don't even want to spend time recounting all of the shortcomings of this dining establishment. We normally love this place. I want to give them a break because of the pandemic, but I can't. Not one employee tonight was helpful or friendly. The shift manager left before closing, and the poor cook - yes, only one of him - tried his best, but also did not give a darn. He actually scraped 1/4 of my ingredients into the center garbage area and allowed the water used to clean the grill to flow into my pile. The shift manager left before the end of the shift and the place was in disarray even when he was there. Ran out of required gloves and took forever to get more. They do not bring you warm rice and Asian salad like in normal times, but they have rice at the ingredient bar. It is too bad that the pan did not get filled the entire time we were there. If this is the "new" Hu Hot, it is just not worth it. Food all over the floor. The place is not clean. I really hope they go back to their former selves; otherwise we will have to find a new place for Mongolian BBQ. read more

Stopped in for lunch on our way through town. First time there and will also be our last time. There was no option for a single serving, only the "all you can eat" portion/charge. It was over $30 for the two of us and we had water! When we got to the displays for choosing the ingredients, it was filthy! Picked up a bowl and it was dirty. There was food all over the floor but we pressed through. When we got to the grill...OMG, it was disgusting! They had a scrapping rail around the bottom of the grill that had old crumbs and crap on it. The grill masters were acting like they were from a Japanese restaurant and kept scrapping their spatulas across it. It was gross! I work in a food processing plant and we are highly trained about food pathogens and this place is full of red flags! Overpriced and disgusting! Still the same old tired selection. For what they charge, they should be able to also have shrimp available. Their thin sliced, frozen meats are tasteless and unattractive (except the imitation crab - which I don't care for). Their policy of no take outs (except for kids menu items) is ridiculous. The best way to get people to come back is to let them take a little home with them. Charging for take out is an insult after what they charge. I have been here a couple of times and always have a great experience. The food selection is fantastic and watching the cooks create your concoction of food is like watching an artist hard at work. I have been a food critic for 20 years. This place was good but on the average side of Mongolian grills. Pros : lots of selections. Meats veggies all looked fresh. Because it's a all you can eat place there is no reason to be creative on how you stack your bowl. Pretty clean and service was great. Cons: most places offer disposable spoons to try the array of sauces. Here they do not. So choices are to hope for best or like most use unsanitary means to taste them. read more

My problem - it took me two tries before I figured out the saucing for my plate. I followed their suggestion but it came out dry. You have to combine and think about what you do at home. Went for an early dinner with my daughter's family, including my 2 year old grandchild. We were the only people there at the time we arrived and went through the line. My granddaughter was being extra toddler-like and didn't want to eat. Once her parents and I finished our food- the one a d only trip through the line we made, we asked for a box for the child's little plate of leftovers. We were told they could not give us one, it was $6. We had about 1-1.5 cups of food on her plate, we weren't trying to pull anything, and they knew it. They refused to compromise, 'it's corporate policy'. I wrote corporate today and explained our disappointment and was given the same line of BS with the 'if we do it for one, we have to do it for everyone' crap. A little logic would go a long way here. Oh I liked this place.. it's a typical Mongolian BBQ restaurant with so many options for fresh fresh veggies . They had several meat choices which included chicken, beef, pork sausage, Krab (fake crab) and a few others .. the sauces are where it's at you can create your own flavor profile and I like that.. there is a menu board to help you make your traditional peanut sauce, teriyaki etc.. I visited this past weekend with family. I do not like the new set-up. No service whatsoever. You place your order and pay the moment you walk in. Watch out for them adding an automatic tip to your bill unless you "opt out." You fill your own drink, you find your own table - and apparently you have to clear it from the previous guests' dishes first. You serve yourself rice from a pot (no bowls) and serve yourself soft-serve ice cream (cones and spoons but no bowls). Like I said - NO SERVICE to the table. The food itself is really what you make it. However, the place is filthy. From dust on the walls, lights and food debris everywhere it's a complete nightmare. Some workers are extremely nice and others are clearly just there to get paid and leave. 100% would recommend this place. I have a peanut allergy and was super nervous about trying this place. They are very accommodating. They make sure the section of grill used to cook my food was extremely clean before cooking it. They also have different colored bowls for those with allergies so the cooks know. I like that there are so many options for food. The stations can get a bit messy when busy, but that isn't 100% the restaurants fault. Definitely a fun place to go for date nights. read more

I went here on a date and enjoyed the concept. We had fun picking ingredients and sauces and making some interesting dishes. The decor is pleasant and inviting with cool murals on the wall. But! Our waitress was slow cleaning old dishes off the table and refilling our drinks. Even when the dinner crowd cleared there were dirty dishes sitting on the table across from us for over 20 minutes. We were greeted with no napkins, silverware or straws. Immediately after finishing our 2nd plate we were presented with our check and felt a bit rushed out by frequent return visits from the waitress asking if we were "all set". I was in town and decided to stop at this HuHot with some friends for dinner (one of my favorite restaurants). It was different from my local HuHot. Here you pay as soon as you walk in the door, I'm not sure if this is common at other locations but the location I usually go to does not do that. They also had soft serve ice cream (something else my local location does not have). The only down side of my time here was that the grill cooks were a bit slow, but my food still tasted great and the service was great as well. If I am in town again I will defiantly stop here. read more

Food is good. Grill personnel are awesome (a lot of times with good humor). That's really the only reason we keep coming back. Service sucks. Servers are hard to find and move very very slow. We came in on the 3rd day it was open. It was great! Everything was clean and the food was so fresh and tasted so very good. Our visits since have been down hill more and more. We have been here on 6 different occasions now and it's gotten really dirty. Menus are sticky, wipe them off! The dishes are dirty with food stuck on them. They need to have a serious clean up. The food doesn't look or taste as fresh and the staff isn't as attentive. Here a tip clean the bathrooms more! They are so gross. read more

I always enjoy Hu Huts and everything they have to offer. This is a relatively new Hu Hut and is up to par with pretty much every other one. It's always fun to create your own stir fry and top it off with tons of different sauce choices! The meat selection is good, I always suggest the sausage, gives a great and unique taste to any stir fry! Always tons of fresh veggies to try mix your dish up! We stopped in to give the kids an experience of picking their own food and watching the cooks do their magic with their spatulas. Needless to say they got their experience and loved it but the place was filthy. We got a cleaned table but from the carpet, buffet, bathrooms and even soda and ice cream area everything was scoured with old food and wrappers. The rice container was caked with old rice and handles of everything were sticky and clearly not replaced or thought about being cleaned. I understand buffets are hard up keep while so many people are using them and also now days it's hard to find help but unfortunately I do need to leave a poor review as I felt this place needed at least a vacuum ran thru it. read more

I got a medley of different meats, veggies, and other ingredients and sauces. The food is prepared on a large circle heated "stove-top" and if cooked fairly quickly. This is our new favorite place as a family to come to eat in Rib Mountain. A little more on the pricey side, but we each love being able to go and pick out what we all want them to cook up for us. The meat, noodles, vegetables, etc are always fresh and filled. The sauces too are always filled and also never empty. They have nice "cheat" sheets for you to go by if you don't know exactly what sauces to go by hanging right above all of the sauces. The servers always ask if you've been there before or not so they can help guide you if you're not sure on how the process works. They also ask if you would like rice at your table. The cookers are also always fun to watch. They cook all the food right in front of you, and hand it to you once it's done cooking which goes rather quickly. We've also had very good service every time we've come. They get our drinks quickly and clear our plates when we are done with them. We've never had to wait long, but this last weekend when we were leaving there was a lot of people waiting, but it was a busy Saturday and it's to be expected at such a good place to eat. I'm ready to go back just by writing this review. I crave this place. read more

Adam is the best server I've had in years. Funny, personal, and extremely helpful. He made our quick lunch break out of Wausau a memorable one. The reason I give 4 stars is sadly due to the quality of the food. I would honestly give it a 3 based on the food alone, but Adam saved this review. The meat looked fine, but the veggies were brown and wilted especially the bok choy and cilantro and the tofu had a nasty flavor that even my plethora of sauces couldn't completely mask. I've been to several huhots in different states and cities and sadly the food was the most disappointing here...but I'm hopeful that when I move here, that the quality will have stepped up its game.
