Second time visiting. Good service, nice gifts and delish sweets! It's a definite stop each time we visit Avila beach.

I got the caramel cinnamon latte and it was not good. It tasted bitter.

I got the caramel cinnamon latte and it was not good. The coffee was bitter and had no flavor.

A must stop while in Avila Beach!

What a wonderful coffee and pastries stop, which is now a destination to me. Right across from the beach, with a comfy outdoor seating area. Their coffee is delicious and try the Almond Pastries! An awesome selection of gifts many by local artists. And to top it off...Jim, the owner, Leann and all staff are wonderful people and cater to all with empathy and human kindness!

Now my Avila go to instead of second favorite place to go for dessert, ice cream or lunches (We use to go to Custom House until the owners destroyed our go to spot with an ill thought out remake). The good news is Hula Hut in response has increased their menu options , and tripled their seating capacity. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is they now serve cheaper supermarket available ice cream (Tillimook) over what I think was SLO Maid before. If they had to change ice cream venders wish they would have gone with a higher quality option, otherwise 5 star beach front experience with always friendly service, fun choices, and fun beach vibe shopping souvenirs, t-shirts, and trinkets. Has been a Avila beach favorite for my family for a couple of decades, changed keep it relevant and relaxing.

Order your food at the counter, then find a seat inside or out. I had the breakfast burrito with country potatoes. Served with mild salsa, I asked for Cholula, and they obliged. Delicious! I ate half before I thought to make this review. It is also a shop with many cute touristy items. I'll definitely come back.

I went in today and had high hopes for their sandwiches because i've been here for ice cream and snacks before but extremely disappointed. The staff was super nice and friendly and there was no problem there but when i got the sandwich i was actually stunned that i paid for $16 for this sandwich. There was more lettuce and condiments than meat as shown in the pictures below. I'm not one to complain but this establishment should not be selling sandwiches that are $16 if they are not going to provide with an adequate proportion. My dorito chips were better than the sandwich, very disappointing and will not be coming back to this place.

Flavors posted are frosted cupcake and olalliebery. Olalliebery is my favorite and not overly sweet. It's just a mix of berries!!

We sat outside and the views are good. Much better views if you sit inside but the weather was gorgeous. They had pork tamales for a special and I'm so glad I tried it. I was so torn about getting that or seafood. The tamales were flavorful. The masa stuck to the corn husks which was disappointing. It came with 2 eggs and I chose hash browns as the side. If you can handle spice, you would love the sauce that was served with the tamales. I dipped my fork in and couldn't do it. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The potatoes didn't have any seasoning but were very crispy. It was a lot of food for the price. I did try some of the fisherman's platter. That was a decent sized portion. The shrimp and calamari steak were delicious. The fried oyster was huge. The clam strips were small with a lot of breading and not enough clam. Bathroom was very clean. Service excellent.

Our son loved his pancake breakfast with special whip cream from the waiter. We appreciate the kindness of the staff, thank you.

I ordered the lychee cappuccino, which was unique and really well-balanced. The lychee flavor was subtle--I personally wouldn't have minded a bit more intensity--but I really appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. It still let the espresso shine through, which I always prefer. For food, I had the steak breakfast burrito, and it was cooked perfectly. The burrito on its own was maybe a touch under-seasoned for my taste, but once I added their housemade verde sauce, it completely came alive. That sauce is seriously next-level--bright, flavorful, and exactly what the dish needed. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, happy to offer recommendations and clearly proud of what they're serving. You can feel that they're really trying to create a welcoming, thoughtful experience here. Definitely a place I'll return to--and recommend to friends. Great coffee, solid food, and a space that just feels good to be in.

The way it works is you order at the bar, and then they will take down your phone number to text when your order is ready. However, it seemed like they were more using the loud speaker because I didn't receive the text until 9:57pm that night. My order was ready at 6:53, so we were looking at about a 23 minute wait - which I think is fair given how busy it was. The food itself was just okay to me. I didn't think it was anything to write home about, but that could be because I had some really great tri tip at the SLO Farmer's Market the day before. However, I will say, I really liked this place for the environment. There was live music, and a lot of table and chairs to just look out at the water and just enjoy the views. It was super family friendly, and I found it to be really enjoyable to just sit and hang out. I did find it odd that they close early (8pm) on a Friday night. At 7:59pm, the employees will come up to you to let you know that they close at 8pm, so it seems like they are strict about that.

To sit here is to be seduced by the Pacific's rhythmic pulse, a panoramic distraction that almost--almost--masks the architectural and emotional exhaustion of the room. The décor suggests a space in transition, or perhaps an identity crisis. It bears the unmistakable look of a "palimpsest"--a new design hastily layered over the ghost of a previous one, creating an aesthetic friction that feels more like a temporary stage set than a permanent sanctuary. This weariness extends to the staff, who navigate the floor with a palpable, heavy-lidded misery, as if the sheer beauty of the coastline has become a burden they are no longer interested in carrying. The kitchen, however, still possesses moments of genuine, startling clarity. I opted for the "Trio," a format that usually promises variety but often delivers compromise. Not so here. The sandwich was a minor triumph of construction and flavor, a high-water mark for a casual lunch. It was flanked by a clam chowder of remarkable depth--creamy without being cloying, and singing with the brine of the sea. Yet, the meal is not without its turbulence. The accompanying salad arrived drowning, a casualty of an over-zealous hand with the dressing that rendered the greens more of a soup than a side. And then there is the matter of the French Onion soup. To encounter a $9 upcharge for a bowl of onions and melted Gruyère is to experience a moment of pure, capitalistic vertigo. It is a price point that suggests a level of luxury the service and the "layered" décor simply haven't earned. As for the amenities, the state of the restrooms remains a mystery--a rare blind spot in an otherwise exhaustive afternoon. Blue Moon Over Avila remains a destination for the eyes, and intermittently, for the palate. If you can ignore the visible gloom of the service and the audacity of the surcharges, the view alone is worth the price of admission. Just perhaps stick to the chowder and leave the French Onion to the high rollers.

We ordered our first round of drinks and Brie for an App, which arrived promptly but delivered by other staff. Didn't see a waiter for the next 20-30 minutes. No second round of drinks, no food order. Stood up and walked to the front where our waiter met me as he walked out from inside. We asked if they forgot about us and got a nonchalant response that they were busy. At which point I just asked for the check and said we would just go somewhere else. The thing that originally got me hooked on this place was their clam chowder. An ex-girlfriend brought some back for me to try, and it ended up being one of the best clam chowders I've ever had. That alone made me want to come try the restaurant in person. Now, every time I visit, it's a must-order. Honestly, it's better than any other place in Pismo Beach that claims to have the best. Zorro's is the one that actually delivers. Beyond the chowder, it's a full Mexican restaurant with a wide menu. They bring out chips and salsa to start, and they also have their own house-made hot sauce on every table, which is a nice touch. The food across the board has been consistently good. This last visit, my girlfriend had the carnitas tacos, and I ordered the shrimp diablo plate. I've also had their fish and chips, enchiladas, tacos, and burritos on previous visits, and I haven't had a bad meal yet. They also have a solid drink selection, including Mexican beers, good cocktails, and especially strong Bloody Marys and micheladas. The service has always been reliable. Even when it's busy, the staff checks in often enough to keep drinks filled and make sure you have what you need, including more chips and salsa. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and parking is pretty easy since it's all street parking nearby. You're usually only a short walk away. If you're in Pismo Beach and like Mexican food, this place is definitely worth a stop. And seriously, don't skip the clam chowder. It's the standout.
