Potential To Be A Great Place..... I'm a big fan of the Tribe. They're the best people making the best drinks, but to add some variety to my life, I tried Nova 5 times during a one month period. - Overall: 3 - Location: 5 - Ambiance: 3 - Menu: 4 - Drink Quality: 2 (the most important category) - Pastry Quality: 3 - Service: 4 - Price and Value: 4 - Parking: 3 Pros: - Location: Convenient. In a standalone building along West Grand Avenue in Arroyo Grande...not far from the border of Grover Beach. - Ambiance: Casual. You can pull up to the drive thru window or park in a space and walk to the take out spot in the back. The "back" also has picnic tables and space for kids to run around. - Menu: Extensive. The usual hot and cold drinks, but also some unusual ones...plus several grab and go entree type things for breakfast or lunch and a number of pastries. - Service: Always friendly. The young women I've seen were all very nice. - Price and Value: Reasonable. Decent prices - especially if drinks are done properly. - Parking: Okay. You might need to find a space by Adventist Health behind Nova. Cons: - Drinks: Mediocre. I've visited 5 times and ordered the same thing: "Extra hot...extra foam...1/2 sweet". One was very good, 3 were so-so and 1 was bad. The problem? They carefully recorded my request (which I always repeat) so either they don't read the information...don't take the time to do it properly.....or don't know how. Most were lukewarm with minimal foam and too sweet. The best drink was made when it was done by the same woman who took my order. Having both a drive thru and walk up window can make things busy and hurt quality. I've seen the same problem at Starbuck's locations with a drive thru. Slow it down a bit and FOCUS.

Such a cute little coffee spot! We grabbed nova a couple times while in town this week. Convenient takeout window for picking up coffee on the go. If you'd like to sit and enjoy your coffee and a pastry, they have a (gated in aka toddler parents dream) grassy/dirt area with tables, some toys, and a handmade car/ball track. This kept our toddlers attention long enough for us to grab a bite and finish out coffee. I tried a few things throughout the week and their coffee isn't spectacular and can range on the sweeter side. I would recommend it overly sweet coffee isn't your thing, definitely order your drink half sweet. All of the drinks I tried throughout the week were good, but not spectacular if you're a true coffee enthusiast. We also got the chorizo burrito which was something I probably wouldn't get again. Overall, if you're looking for a decent coffee spot where you can sit down and enjoy your coffee while your kids play, this is the spot!

Easy drive up window and parking if you want to go in. We drove up to the window and ordered 3 drinks. All the drinks were delicious! A lot of options to pick from. The person at the window was helpful and friendly. There's a nice patio area in the back to relax and if you have kids room to play.

FOOD: Surprisingly filling and delicious breakfast burrito. I was expecting the pinto beans to be dry and make the rest of the burrito feel dry but no. The salsa was a delicious addition. At first I thought it was all going to be egg in the bite and a tiny bit of sausage but each bite had eggs, sausage and beans! I would definitely get this again. SERVICE: Super nice employees. Patient and quick even with long lines it was fast paced but did not sacrifice the quality of food and drinks. AMBIANCE: It's a drive thru type of a coffee shop. They do have a "coffee garden" if you will behind the shop that you can sit at and enjoy your coffee and breakfast. Sometimes they do have little events/meet up in this area. Parking can be tricky if you do want to stay and enjoy your order that way. Creative seasonal specials. Candy cane jitters was delicious. I was worried that it might be more milk than cold brew in my coffee but it was a perfect blend. I taste the coffee and just the perfect hint of the peppermint. Highly recommend and SUPPORT LOCAL!

This was last year's review but I took it down as they removed the sales tax, and I haven't been by since June 2025, but when I ordered online today, the sales tax is back! "I really like the coffee here however I was not aware they charge sales tax. I had a couple questions on some recent charges and was explained that there is a sales tax applied. If you order online though, there is no tax applied so it is a bit confusing and I was under the impression that coffee is a non taxable good, especially if it is to go." I attached my email receipts for reference.

    Matcha

We got the monkey bread muffin and two matchas, one with blueberry and oatmilk and the other with strawberry cold foam. The matcha was very green, wasn't grainy and tasted delicious, it was too good to gatekeep. The muffin was also very good and a large portion size. The prices are also very reasonable, our two 16oz matchas were $15 after customizations/add ons. :)

I am a coffee snob and have my own espresso machine at home but love visiting new coffee shops and Tribe Coffee did not disappoint. Was given recommendations by the staff, based on what i usually drink and tried something new and different and I truly enjoyed it. Skip the chain coffee shops and come support this very unique coffeehouse. Will be back! In this visit we had a kids hot chocolate, Honey Rose Latte and Velvet Virtue.

Somehow they really do blend together. Now one would expect the drink to be more green or pink somehow but it's pretty natural, which makes sense with the overall vibe of the place. No artificial colorings or flavorings here. Ham & cheese: The pastries seem to rotate so there isn't a set food menu. They had an assortment of pastries available and my preference leans more savory so a toasted ham and cheese was perfect for me for lunch. Service was friendly and informative - they have a pretty extensive menu but the staff know the menu and can offer recommendations. The ambiance is really what would deter me from coming back. Personally, it's just not my vibe, feels a little bit claustrophobic like I'm in a old beachside cottage or mini barn. The floors are worn and tired and pained this jarring shade of teal. The plate my ham and cheese was served on was a similar shade. Blue is not a color that triggers appetite traditionally so I'm curious as to why this choice was made. If I were to come back I'd probably either sit outside or take my drink to go. Really a bummer because the latte was so good. But again, just personal preference.

The location is super cute, warm, and inviting from the moment you walk in. This was our first ever visit, and their website did a great job clearly explaining how everything works. We made a reservation, paid $16 each for a 50 minute visit, and it was absolutely worth it. Kayla, who was working the front desk, was friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We started in the kitten room, and the time flew by so fast that we never even made it to the adult cat area. The kittens were incredibly playful, social, and engaged, and it was very clear they are being well cared for. If you love cats, enjoy good and inexpensive coffee drinks, and want to support a local business with a great mission, I highly recommend checking this place out. It was such a fun and memorable experience for my daughter and me, and we will absolutely be back.

The inconsistency is ridiculous and it sucks to hype up your child for the cats and then be turned away. In response to the owner commenting: my child had gone in at 6 months, 9 months and 1.5 years. There was no attempt at being dishonest about his age and there was no mention or signage at the times of visiting. You'll see stickers, art works, and signs both inside the store and outside that promoting kindness. I am obsessed with matcha drinks and matcha anything! If the place offers matcha drinks or desserts, I'd have to try it. From all the pictures on Yelp, their strawberry matcha seems like the most popular item, so of course I had to try it my first time here.
