Second time visiting. Good service, nice gifts and delish sweets! It's a definite stop each time we visit Avila beach.

I got the caramel cinnamon latte and it was not good. It tasted bitter.

I got the caramel cinnamon latte and it was not good. The coffee was bitter and had no flavor.

A must stop while in Avila Beach!

What a wonderful coffee and pastries stop, which is now a destination to me. Right across from the beach, with a comfy outdoor seating area. Their coffee is delicious and try the Almond Pastries! An awesome selection of gifts many by local artists. And to top it off...Jim, the owner, Leann and all staff are wonderful people and cater to all with empathy and human kindness!

Now my Avila go to instead of second favorite place to go for dessert, ice cream or lunches (We use to go to Custom House until the owners destroyed our go to spot with an ill thought out remake). The good news is Hula Hut in response has increased their menu options , and tripled their seating capacity. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is they now serve cheaper supermarket available ice cream (Tillimook) over what I think was SLO Maid before. If they had to change ice cream venders wish they would have gone with a higher quality option, otherwise 5 star beach front experience with always friendly service, fun choices, and fun beach vibe shopping souvenirs, t-shirts, and trinkets. Has been a Avila beach favorite for my family for a couple of decades, changed keep it relevant and relaxing.

Order your food at the counter, then find a seat inside or out. I had the breakfast burrito with country potatoes. Served with mild salsa, I asked for Cholula, and they obliged. Delicious! I ate half before I thought to make this review. It is also a shop with many cute touristy items. I'll definitely come back.

Do yourself a favor and grab a hot chocolate WITH whip cream at Hula Hut today! Beautiful outside for a treat. Tip the servers. EXHALE!

I went in today and had high hopes for their sandwiches because i've been here for ice cream and snacks before but extremely disappointed. The staff was super nice and friendly and there was no problem there but when i got the sandwich i was actually stunned that i paid for $16 for this sandwich. There was more lettuce and condiments than meat as shown in the pictures below. I'm not one to complain but this establishment should not be selling sandwiches that are $16 if they are not going to provide with an adequate proportion. My dorito chips were better than the sandwich, very disappointing and will not be coming back to this place.

Flavors posted are frosted cupcake and olalliebery. Olalliebery is my favorite and not overly sweet. It's just a mix of berries!!

Reliable Trail-Side Favorite with Solid Value Woodstone…read moreMarketplace is a seamless fit for any stay at Avila Village Inn, and we made it our go-to spot for breakfast and lunch during our recent visit. The location right along the Bob Jones Trail--literally steps from the inn via the paved walkway--makes it incredibly convenient: grab a coffee or meal without breaking your rhythm after a morning walk or before heading to the beach. Breakfast stands out: generous portions of fresh ingredients, with standbys like avocado toast (creamy, well-seasoned, topped with perfectly poached eggs), breakfast burritos packed with flavor, and hearty bagels or pastries that fuel a full day of activity. The coffee is strong and consistent, and the outdoor patio overlooking the trail adds a relaxed, shaded vibe--great for people-watching or just soaking in the creek-side calm. We took advantage of the 10% discount for Village Inn guests (just mention it at checkout), which makes the pricing feel even more reasonable. Lunch is equally dependable: salads, sandwiches, and hot options that lean fresh and satisfying without being fussy. Service is friendly and efficient--orders come quickly even when busy--and the market side offers grab-and-go snacks, fresh produce, and local items that are perfect for stocking up before the drive home. It's not flawless: the menu can feel a touch predictable (solid but not groundbreaking), and on peak weekend mornings the wait for made-to-order items stretches to 15-20 minutes. Ambiance is casual and functional rather than polished--think market-café hybrid, not upscale dining. Still, for what it delivers--convenient, quality food in a prime trail location with that nice discount--it's a reliable winner we'll keep returning to. Highly recommended if you're staying nearby and want breakfast or lunch without hassle. It earns its spot on every Avila itinerary.

Location: located in the bottom floor of a building near the beach, this is not a winery. It is a tasting room. And the wine to its credit is very good. The setting though screams Jimmy Buffett more than wine. It's an odd pairing to say the least. Wine: As mentioned, the wine is very good. In fact, almost everything I tried was either very tasty or at least very unique. I left with several bottles and was very happy with the experience overall. Apple Cheddar: 6/10 The combination intrigued me so we decided to give it a try! The apple was sweet and was a good offset compared to the cheesy pizza. I do wish it was more apple compared to cheddar because it got too salty halfway since the cheese was overpowering. Regardless, it was still a good pizza. 2. Chicken Pesto: 8/10 This was a solid pizza. The chicken was cooked and seasoned well and the mushrooms, olives, and scallions gave it a nice crunch. Overall, the pizzas were really delicious and I liked how it was cooked fresh off the grill. The pizzas were HUGE though fair warning-- we had ordered a large 16" for a party of three and had leftovers. Would recommend ordering a medium instead if you didn't want leftovers. The service was fast-- you just order at the front and pay there but the wait time was a bit long since they had a lot of takeout orders.
