Got new roof, lost shingle innothing but wind. However, we are nervous about next wind. In addition, we recommended them to friends who have had nothing but problems. They lost many shingles in wind, then got them all replaced. Next, in first good rain, garage leaked. Before reroofing they had no leaks. They are most unhappy and feel they paid for new roof and have ended up with patched roof. We feel very bad about this because we recommended Hull. read more

I called this company on 1/12/16 and received a return call from the office the next day. They told me that Ron would call me back for an estimate on a roof repair. I didn't receive any calls so I called the office again on 1/15/16. They said they have been very busy since the rain and that they would let Ron know that I am calling again. I didn't receive any calls again and so I called the office today 1/19/16. They said Ron would call me back. Finally I received a call today 1/19/16 and Ron tells me that it's a 3 month wait for a roof repair on a house with shingles. I asked why didn't the receptionist tell me that the wait is 3 months. He said the receptionists don't know the difference between tiles and shingles. Maybe you need to educate your receptionists. So basically if you want your roof repaired. I would not recommend this company. They had the best presentation of all of the bids we got for replacing our roof on our house- and then we gave them our deposit and scheduled a date for tear off. 1. Tear off scheduled Sat at 7AM. We got up early and prepared for the crew as we were told we needed to be present at start. NO SHOW, NO CALL. By 9:00AM we call the operator and she states someone will call right away and let us know what is going on. Another hour (10AM), still no call! We call back, she says they must be busy she will let them know again. We get a hold of Kyle and Aaron about 11:00AM or so. They both don't know what is going all. They call back a little bit later to say the truck broke. (they could have called to tell us to begin with, that would have been fine! - communication was terrible!) Said they would call Sunday to confirm Monday 7AM roof tear off. They DID NOT CALL Sunday! We gave them a deposit (large amount of money) and the no show made us very nervous. They did show up Monday even though we did not get a confirmation call as promised. 2. My surveillance camera caught one of their workers urinating on my house near my daughter's swing set 5 minutes before they left for the day. I called Aaron (who was my first point of contact in the beginning). He apologizes, says its disgusting, that they can dig up the area where he urinated or pressure wash our house to clean it. That does not fix my problem of having unprofessional employees and people violating my house/property - Total loss of Trust in this company. Such a TERRIBLE experience. At this point we wanted it to be over. 3. 2nd day - they worked 4 hours starting to put shingle on our house. When they left for the day just before noon, they left huge plywood in our front yard leaned against our house. Tools were flying off of our roof during the day (caught on camera). Our vent cap was left loose, sitting on the roof when it flew off and landed in the street around 3PM. Our 85 year old neighbor had to go pick it up out of the street so it wouldn't damage someone's car - were not home yet). Called the operator that night asking for someone to call me back right away - NO CALL. 4. Replaced some wood on the side of house, and did a blunt cut instead of an angled cut so the wood did not sit flush, it stuck out. It looked terrible and it was all bunched. When I showed the Foreman, he says, oh yeah that looks terrible. He did fix it and it looks great now. I am afraid if we had not known what we were looking for, it would not have been fixed or even thought twice about. The end product is very nice, but getting there was a terrible experience. There was no communication, it was so hard to get a hold of someone, and they lost our trust with the no show/call and unprofessional act by the employee. We had a new roof put on our house along with all new wooden facia around the roof. We also had and old unused swamp cooler that was on the roof removed. This is an older house that used some materials not really used much anymore that made things difficult. Everything was done well and the job was finished in three days. This is a family run business that has been doing it for many years, Aaron did the estimate and Kyle did the follow up and final walk around, both were very knowledgeable and professional. Hull and Sons just completed a job on my 28 yr. old roof. I called to get an estimate and Aaron Hurlbet showed up on time. He got up on the roof, examined some damage (wood rot) and then took some measurements. Aaron gave me an estimate and I decided to go with them. He gave me a start time of 4 weeks. They managed to come out in 5 weeks. The tile crew arrived on time and were very professional. Not only did they do a great job but they cleaned up after themselves too. I would defiantly recommend Hull & Sons to anyone needing any repair work or a new roof! We had shingles blow off in the wind a few months ago, a pipe sticking out of our garage that didn't go to anything and protruding nails in the garage roof as well. These were all causing horrible leaks in our garage in any sort of rain. As soon as i got in contact with Kyle he came over within a few days and checked it all out, Within days our roof was being repaired. The workers showed up on time and were very very polite, and knew exactly what they were doing. Just this last weekend we had the first rain since the roof has been fixed and there is not one sign of a leak anywhere! Kyle and everyone at Hull & Sons were great to work with! I was in the process of requesting free estimates for a reroofing of my home I came upon this company. I read some of the reviews and I decided to give them a call. The I got an appointment for the same day and I waited for the tech to arrived but appx 30 minutes after the appointment I got a second call about my inquire and informed him that I was already waiting for someone to arrive. After an hour of waiting for the tech I called the company to cancel the appointment. Our 50 year old single story home was in need of a new roof. It has 3000 square feet of two layers of shingles to be removed. A friend told us of Hull and Sons Roofing who did her roof and she was very pleased with them. Their estimate was well below two others for same work and materials. We contracted with them. Their crew arrived Monday morning and tear off and clean up were done by 2:15 pm. Tuesday contractor replaced few roof boards and came back in afternoon with material and put on roof. I would recommend this company to no one. Based on my experience with this company, the only work I would allow them to do on my roof would be to honor their warranty and make good on the botched repair work they did on my roof, and that would only be in the name of not flushing almost $2,000 down the toilet. Around three years ago, we had leaks in our home during the rainy season - two major areas and one minor drip. Ron was the one who came to give us our estimate. We showed him the leak areas and he went up onto the roof and then drew up a plan of what he proposed to fix and we signed the contract and they did that work. The next two rainy seasons, we had a little water come in the major two areas and called them to come look at the roof. When someone actually got out and inspected, it wasn't actively raining and leaking inside any longer, so they had to "try to reproduce" the water intrusion by putting a hose on the roof (ours, which they didn't even ask if they could use before dragging it onto the roof). They said they couldn't reproduce any leaks and the work they had performed looked good. This past rain storm (2-28-14) that really dumped, found water coming into our upstairs bathroom through the ceiling in the one major area and into the garage in the other major leak area. Later that night the water also came in through an adjoining bedroom ceiling. They sent someone out this time during the actual rain and he saw the interior damage being caused. George (the one they sent out) went up on the roof with me and told me that he looked at the areas they had worked on (George had nothing to do with our repair work - Ron designed the repair work and someone else performed it), and they seemed to be good. However, he said that the real problem was our valleys, which have the tiles set in too close, so debris backs up, the water can't flow, and it goes out to the sides under the tiles and finds a leak path (likely via deteriorated underlayment). This is EXACTLY what the roofer that our insurance company sent out told us when we reported the interior damage being caused. The office was supposed to call me back after George's inspection. They didn't. I called back a week later and they took my number and didn't call, and the same story the next week. Finally three weeks later Kyle Hull called and I explained how frustrated I was about the repair work for the leaks we still had and asked what they were going to do about it. He was supposed to confer with Harlan (the owner) that weekend and call me back Monday. He didn't. When he finally called me back, they told me the same old line about the work they did being good, and it's hard to trace leaks if you don't redo the whole roof. He was willing to give me a $300 discount on coming and performing the work George talked to me about to actually fix the problem. Bottom line: this company may have an A+ rating and two five star reviews on Yelp, but my experience with them would earn them no stars if I didn't have to give a minimum of one star. They clearly care nothing for their reputation (or rest on their laurels), absolutely blew the repair of our roof (I believe this was the fault of Ron's design of the repair, not the actual work done, which may be fantastic - We'll never know since it wasn't the right work to fix the leaks), and are completely unwilling to do anything about it despite the fact that we've had leaks in the exact same places they were supposed to fix, and their own employee concurred with an independent roofer about what the real problem is, which is not what was fixed. I will be reporting them to the Contractors State License Board. We will now be paying a roofer who hopefully actually knows what they are doing to fix our roof and the money Hull and Sons made from us lines their pockets and leaves us with a roof in no better condition than before they set foot in our house. read more

I told him I really needed someone to give me an estimate ASAP and he politely told me he was booked for the day but could be there first thing in the AM. That was more than reasonable. He called me at 5PM later that day saying he had a small window to come up to my house when he could have been going home. He evaluated the entire roof with great focus and made sure I understood exactly what was wrong. He was patient, concise and genuinely cared that I was fully understanding of the issues. He provided a price that I was more than willing to pay because (1) I understood exactly what was needed and what I was paying for and (2) he was someone I wanted to do business with, and for me, that's what is most important. After the job was done, a friend of mine who was a former roofer was extremely complimentary of his work and the price, so overall, I couldn't be happier with the work. We had a really small job - replacing several tiles and right before rainy season.I called 4 different roofers for estimates but decided to go with Hull & Sons because of all of the good reviews on Yelp. They didn't have an opening for a month or so....but I said I'd like to be put on a waiting list in event someone cancelled, etc. I told Debbie over the phone that there was threat of rain in the next couple of days.
