2 weeks ago traveling back from a funeral my car broke down on the side of the highway 3 miles from Hullett's. I got towed there to have them look at it. I was stranded 9 hours away from home and they told me I needed a new engine with a price tag of $6000. 2 days later I towed it all the way home to Davenport, IA, and got 3 other opinions. They all stated I only needed a new serpentine belt and thermostat. It cost me less than $300. read more

Hulletts deserves NO stars and honestly deserve to be put out of business! Today my tire started vibrating pretty badly.. back story the right front tire was low, I put fix a flat in it and within 48 hours my car was dangerously vibrating me all over the road. It's a Saturday after noon, not many places are open at this time of the weekend and day. I also live right off of exit 110 so I decided to this business a try.. I figured since it is so close to my house it would be awesome if could run in grab me a used tire and be on-my way, but also have a convenient place for future issues with the vehicles in our household. I arrived and a I was impressed initially because a man came out almost immediately and asked me what was going on. I told him and he said that I had a bad belt broke in the front pass side tire. He then said that he was going to go see if he had the tire I needed. He came back with a tire and said he had one but it was not the correct size.. another guy comes up at this point and asks what's going on.. this guy seemed like it was most likely his family's business or something or another.. I told him that my belt is broken in my tire but that they don't have the correct tire size only the one that was currently next to my vehicle.. he then started saying oh this is a new tire, asking if I see the tread etc..that this tire was going to be more cuz it's a "new" tire. I said here's the problem with what your telling me.. your telling me that you don't have my correct tire size and on top that your asking me to pay a new tire price. I said I planned on getting all new tires before winter.. but that's going to mean I won't be able to buy 3 new tires I'll have to buy 4 because your trying to sell me a NEW USED tire that's the WRONG SIZE right now?!?! So that's me replacing that tire all over again! He proceeded to call someone over to us and ask how much he would charge for the tire.. the first guy said 75 plus rotation, alignment, tax etc.. they other guy popped up and said 50 plus the fees.. I was so upset about this.. but the 50 seemed okay so I could at least have a tire on the vehicle.. they guy promised me that it would be 75 total. I get up to the counter and the guy says $92.. like what? For a used tire that doesn't even fight my car?? He talked down to me and like I was stupid for questioning the $92 charge. He proceeded to ask me if I wanted a receipt.. I said absolutely! Took my receipt and a business card and left! I then got home and called back up there to Hulletts a Frankie answered the phone and I told him about the situation. He proceeded to tell me that is what used tires cost and compared me to another customer.. I let him know that I can go to a tire shop in Murfreesboro and get a tire put on and everything for 25-30 tops. My aunt was upset in the background stating what we want done.. FRANKIE then said tell whoever that is in the background that they can come up here and I handle this.. more or less threatening my aunt!! He then proceeded to tell me that I could bring my car up there, he will take the tire off and refund me.. I said then what will I do for a tire?? He said not my problem! My elderly parents slid off the road into a ditch. The sheriff was called, and Hulletts came and towed them back up to the road. A job the sheriff assured them would probably be about a hundred bucks. They were charged 375.00 for a class d tow (passenger vehicle) plus 50 dollars for winch time. 425.00 to be hauled out of a ditch seems excessive. The car is drivable, they didn't need to tow it anywhere except up to the road. When my 82 year old mother questioned it, she was assured they would keep her car if she didn't pay. read more

The brakes on my mother's car were in terrible shape, but we needed to drive 2 hours for a funeral in Nashville. It was raining that day, so my mom and I both agreed her brakes wouldn't make it on the wet roads for a 2 hour drive. We stopped by Hullett's on the way to see if they could help us. There were a decent number of customers getting work done on their cars, but the guys at Hullett's were able to start working on the car immediately after we arrived and had explained that we absolutely had to make it to the funeral. Their customer service is amazing and they were compassionate to our situation. I would highly recommend this place to anyone-- the people here are great and make sure your needs are taken care of. read more

This is an update from a previous review I left . I wrote the review about losing a transmission on our way to Florida in July of 2021. I wanted to say our van is still driving terrific. The only problem we still have is the key is glitchy coming out of the column, but we have our system to get it out every time. We are still thankful for the help I described in my July review. Took my Ford Dually in requesting: Road force balance, Chrome Valve stem extenders on four rear tires, leak test all tires i had one leak. Hullet's called to report a bad caliper on front right with pads nearly to metal. I authorized two new calipers and brakes. Picked up truck to find my CTS2 monitor, mounted to the dash, was on the floor. I picked it up and found the pins on the monitor were bent. the service manager tried to fix and when we tested we found the screen had been broken. he spoke to his mechanic who claimed, when he got out of the truck, he accidently kicked the monitor out of the truck, he stated he did not see it. Hullett's refuses to pay for the repair of the monitor, $100 + shipping. i also informed him, the valve extenders were not done as requested. the only ones installed were rubber not chrome and there was non on the outside wheels. He claimed the mechanic told him, they leaked. He gave me one to show him, i installed in less than a minute and no leak. he then claimed the rubber inside dual extender was used because they hit the outside tire. i informed him, they make pre bent and he stated he has those. I just grabbed my stuff and left. apparently you have to remove all valuables so they do not get damaged, you would also have to complete work yourself, that you pay them to do. read more

If I could give no stars for service, I would. This shop is an absolute joke. They have workers who have no idea what they are doing, say they are going to take 3-4 hours for a job and my car ended up being there for TWO days, and then was told it was fixed.. later that day, what they had "fixed" came apart and caused 400+ dollars worth of damage to my car, which they are not wanting to take any claim for. On a long road trip my car broke down on the highway in Manchester. I was able to get my car to the nearest service station, Hullett's Even though they were getting ready to close, they looked into the issue. Unfortunately, it needed to be fixed in the morning, so Brad was kind enough to take me to a nearby hotel and also was kind enough to give me his cell number if I needed something. Their prices to fix were very comparable with any other. They fixed the car and I was on my way in early afternoon. I loved that it was a family business. Everyone was friendly and very tolerant of my Rottweiler hanging out in the lobby while I was waiting. read more

With no control over a roster for a tow by the local sheriff department my day at the beach began in reclaiming my property unbelievable in the business practice by this owner and issue of a math mistake by an employee in the documented break down of the charges on the invoice .....giving a check wrote in good faith on a difficult day for the total asked for.....returning for explanation to the employee the next day when the numbers didnt gel of the total of only 3 number on the bill.....towing 225/storage 140/total=422.54 asking for how that number arrived and told was correct with tax included .....somewhat taken back that contracted labor was taxable with nothing sold to me a matter of how they ran their books no concern of mine doing the math with proper tax included still being over charged REFUSED the differnce....tryed one more time to resolve the issue of the mistake with the owner completely taken back with answer that no one twisted my arm to write the check again REFUSED the difference ....REALLY....BEWARE of all reviews to this place of business having some truth and if your are lucky enough as I was to have to deal with these people be on high alert... their pencil is sharp and their mathematic skills work in their favor a good one for karma .....blessed that I have no issue in sleeping at night read more

Terrible shop. This place is the biggest scam I've ever been to. They charged me over $1100 to fix an oil leak into my coolant tank in January. $200 of that was for a diagnostic and they didn't even check my head gaskets, which they thought was the problem. Not only did they not replace the coolant tank like they said, nor flush the radiator, but now in May, my car is throwing the same code it was when I took it to be fixed plus two more.My coolant is completely gone after 1 day of driving. I have to fill it literally every day. I went back to get an oil change and the mechanic tried to charge me an extra $80 because the "thread was stripped on my oil plug" I had another mechanic look at it while I was there and he put the bolt back in no problem and said it was definitely not stripped. I've heard from dozens of locals that Robert Hullett is the biggest crook in town and I should've NEVER gone there. Even from some of his "friends" that he's known 30+ years. I've been told that he will put old oil into your car from other peoples cars after filtering it and that he will charge out of towners an astronomical amount of money just to get them back on the road and not even do any work. They will charge you a "storage fee" if your car is there for more than a week. ($300 a week) this is the worst place I have ever had the misfortune of entering. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM YOU STARTED WITH! read more

Hulletts service center is a crock of sh**! My mother took her vehicles up there for an oil change that was only supposed to cost $15. They made us sit in the waiting room for 3 hours after they took her car back for "what was only supposed to be 15 minutes " for an oil change. When asked why we were still waiting for so long, they replied " we are waiting on an oil filter". Come to find out at closing time, that one of their mechanics had torked down the plastic housing for the oil filter and it snapped in too. They told us to return on Monday morning to retrieve the car because it was Saturday and they were closing. They told us that the total for the would only be $20, when we arrived Monday morning to pick the vehicles back up, that had charged us $100 for them breaking the oil filter housing. And they would give us our car back until it was paid for! My mother is an elderly woman on a fixed income! She had to pay this in order to get her vehicles back. Come to find out none of this happen at all, they just did it to rip here off because she wouldn't k ow any better!!! DO NOT TAKE YOU VEHICLES TO HULLETS!!! THEY PREY ON THE ELDERY, AND ARE HORRIBLE MECHANICS!!!! read more

CAUTION! Maybe if you are a local this place can work for you. Staff was extremely friendly until I left and my car got stranded just outside the mountains with the same problem that I brought it in with. That problem cost me $700 with no parts just man hours. What they did, I don't know and it doesn't show in the paperwork. Good thing though, they were always pleasant when talking to them but never called back when you needed them (being stranded on the side of the road). This place was a disaster. They had my car from Monday to Saturday and gave it back to me with the same problem. read more

they towed my nephews car a short distance and told my sister it would cost 275 plus 40 a day storage. when he went to pick it up next day they told him 519. i can get a car towed for 100 easy. and 40 a day is ridiculous. thats 1200 a month. i can rent a house cheaper than their parking spot at their lot. catching people with no choice and taking advantage of them is not the kinda people i do buisness with. id hate to actualy have them work on something. Hullett's used to be a great mechanic shop, until here recently, two different times I have went to get new tires, and instead of putting the tires I need that are right for my car, they have put small utility trailer tires on the front end twice. That was definitely their way of making more money because they knew those would only last about six months!! I will never go there again for anything. read more

I called this service approximately 2 1/2 weeks ago and they came and jumped my battery off and I followed them to their service center and they said that i had an OK battery that it was something else wrong and they fixed the problem. It was $130 for the whole thing with no new battery. Now today, April 24, 2019, i called them again because once again the car will not start and it was going to be somewhere in the vicinity of $300 plus the cost of the battery which is somewhere in the vicinity of $170. I then called Autozone which gave me the name of a Jason Johnson at 931-841-5375 who has a small service called the mobile mechanic. He came out within 2 to 2 1/2 hours, after going to AutoZone and picking up my battery, and put it in. With the cost of the battery and his service it was approximately $210, which was a tremendous savings over what Hullett's wanted to charge. I think the first time at Hullett's all they did was charged my battery and said they did other services and after two weeks it died again. I told them I thought all I needed was a battery and I did not get that and they claim they did other service. I will no longer be a customer of Hullett's Service Center! read more

They charged me 100 dollars just to air up my tire at bonnaroo even though they have a truck on site for that very purpose. I work at a shop and we do the same thing for about 15-50 dollars depending on the drive. This is why monopolizing is a bad idea, I had no other option so they gouged me for 100$ FOR AIR! read more

My 18 year old daughter called me saying her Jeep was beginning to overheat on 1-24. I instructed her to find the nearest garage and have them check the coolant level. Hullett's performed an $80 diagnostic test, which predictably found nothing, and did what was obviously needed - they added the needed gallon of coolant. My 23 year old daughter had a blow out on I24 at 4:30pm on a Friday and I called them for help because I'm 500 miles away. Not only did they help but the compassion and urgency to go get her was amazing. Brad and crew came to her immediately. Words can't express how grateful I am for these guys. True gentlemen. Worst experience i have had with a repair shop in years. I run a trucking company and deal with repair shops daily. We sent a truck into have transmission looked at, determined needed a transmission, We got price from Hulletts for transmission R & R. quoted 1600- 2000 to R & R transmission. I sent a rebuilt trans from a Reputable builder. Hulletts then tell us we need a bell housing. my cost at my parts dealer 325.00 their cost 600.00. I sent the new Bellhousing to them. Then they tell me it needs a cross shaft and new clutch. Clutch was new 10 months ago. After transmission is in and All the new parts installed, they send the Bill for 2986.00, I asked how we got to this amount and why we have 250.00 charge to go get a part they knew when taking the transmission out they would need. After i Questioned them John the contact i had hangs up on me. My driver was standing there and i asked him to have the owner call me back to discuss the over charging and the owner tells my driver if John hung up on your guy, im not talking to him, and tells my driver pay the bill or dont pay, i will keep the truck. Dont know how people can think they can screw people like this. Wish my review could be a negative ----5 star read more
