Starbucks who? I don't think I'll ever go back to the chain stores. A friend and I went in today. We shared the fall Coffee flight, and wow! It was generous portions of three seasonal flavors: toasted mocha, brown sugar cold brew, pumpkin chai frap. All three flavors were great and the brown sugar cold brew is now my go to coffee. I was also very excited to try the food. The bacon and cheese quiche was amazing. I could have eaten my weight in quiche. I also got the Nutella toast and do not regret my decision. My friend for the avocado toast and she said it was great. We grabbed coffee and a muffin and sandwich to go for our husbands. I think everything was great quality and not over priced. This is a delightful coffee shop. The owner and baristas are friendly and attentive. The coffee is great and the aesthetic of the place is very rustic. I love coming to this shop and the only reason I didn't give it five stars is because there was once a bug in my iced coffee. Granted, it's no one's fault, that's just par for the course with a Texas summer. It's a cute spot. The interior is something you'd expect to see from a Katy Homes magazine- high ceilings, wood, stone, and granite counters, plushy couches, and rustic metal decorations. I had the quiche and my mom the apple cinnamon cake. My mom loved her pastry but my quiche was bland with soggy crust. New Orleans has spoiled me, and I found myself wishing for a few drops of Crystal or Cajun Chef. You could tell the food was pre-made. For the price I would have liked to see a little bit more especially since Katy is full of nice little grocery store bakeries. Hot and iced coffee were satisfactory, but for once again what they charge I'd like to see options other than just half/half or packaged creamer at the self serve. My mom also asked for a cup of water but they must not have heard. The employees were friendly. The manager (or was he the owner?) was also there that morning and mingled/chatted with other patrons. A bit of awkwardness ensued when their computer system lost power and glitched. I think this could have been handled better... I was held up at the counter while they tried again and again to get the system to work. I know it's not their fault and was not looking to get out of paying but by the time things finally got worked out, my mom had finished most of her coffee and the mine had a layer of melted ice water. Overall, it was a pretty forgettable experience. I'll give this place another try next time I'm in town and see if this was just an unlucky off day. My mom enjoyed it so 3 stars it is. read more

True to their slogan, they are confident about coffee and passionate about people. It is tough to find a great cup of coffee that is not burnt or bitter around here. They have a delicious light, medium, and dark roast. The people are always friendly and competent. They are customer oriented and provide free wifi with comfortable lounging area. Today was my first visit and I'm happy to say I think I've found my new study spot! Very nice atmosphere. Not too noisy like Starbucks and good music, without being too loud! It's a tiny bit more expensive than Starbucks, but to be honest I think it's totally justified. I ordered the breakfast sandwich (create your own) and it tasted very fresh and it wasn't greasy. Super nice, helpful staff. They have so much variety too! Lots of seating and places with outlets as well. Plus, I love that this is only 3 minutes away from my house and it opens early! I ordered the 16oz almond latte and it was so yummy. I would cut the syrup amount by 1 pump (which you can totally do), but it wasn't overly sweet either - I've just taken a liking to less-sweetened drinks lately. I wanted to give 3.5 stars but since there is no half option so went with 4. We live in cinco ranch and never really explored southwest side. Recently discovered this place. Been here 3 to 4 times so far. Nice interior and the coffee is good. Tried their pumpkin spice and other lattes. They were tasty yumm. So now the negative part: Coffee I thought is super expensive. Went here after a bike ride and it costed us 17dollars just for two lattes and two croissants. Next when you ask for a latte the cup is usually only 3/4 full and the rest is foam... meh I like it full (especially when you are paying so much money). Hope they atleast introduce rewards program. Overall it's a nice place, good coffee and GREAT service. I love to support local businesses so will be definitely going back more often. read more

Today was our fourth and last visit to First Cup Cafe. We love to support a local business, that's why we gave it the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately this one has been a disappointment. Each time the coffee has been lukewarm at best, despite specifically asking for extra hot. Today was the last straw. Our family visited today and bought four lattes and when I presented my frequent coffee card they only stamped it once. The card specifically says "Buy 10 Drinks get 1 Free". The barista said we only get one stamp per visit. I would have questioned it but after drinking lukewarm coffee for the fourth time at their establishment I decided it didn't really matter since I would not be returning. read more

Tucked away in a neighborhood entrance, you can choose drive through or order to go or sit inside. The interior has adorable rustic like finishes and it's quiet enough (at least when I went- 11am) to get some work done. I ordered the iced latte and a veggie quiche. For $11 I think I'll just stick to "what I know" as both lacked flavor. The latte was really just water on water and the quiche lacked to where I couldn't finish it. I discovered this little gem of a place a few years ago. I keep going back and I'm never disappointed. It actually just keeps getting better and better. Amazing food!! Everything I've tried has been great so far. I'd venture to say they have the best breakfast of any restaurant around. Fresh tasting eggs, soft fresh bread, fresh pico...you can just tell by the taste everything is fresh. Did I mention "fresh?" I'm a big avocado toast person and they have the best I've ever had. I've actually bought the ingredients they use on theirs to try to recreate it at home. The coffee is good. I've tried a few different beverages and they're quality. Nothing amazing, but the food makes up for it. I will never wait in that long a&* line at a popular chain coffee shop that is nearby and shall remain nameless. Why would I, when the line at this place moves quickly and I've never waited longer than 5 minutes? Great food, great service! read more

This is an adorable, neighborhood coffee house. Staff is always friendly and the food and drinks are great! Very involved in the community! Their only opportunity, in my opinion, is that they don't seem to have enough staff to provide fast service. I've been in several times and often there is 1 person working in the front, with a line at the register and the drive through. I really feel for the baristas, as they are always hustling. I ordered a drink and a sandwich through their drive thru. After I paid I had to flag down someone after 10 min to find out where my sandwich was. I had never been told it was going to take this long and only after I asked was I told there were multiple orders ahead of mine and I would have to wait. This is a great place to sit on the comfy couches and read a nice novel or sit at a table and use the free wifi to do some work online. I love the fact that it is so open floor plan and not cramped like most Starbucks where you can hear everyone's conversation. They even have a seperate small meeting room. We got a breakfast croissant sandwich, a muffin and a mini plain croissant (even though we asked and paid for a large one) and it came to a little over $12. Seems a bit overpriced for what we actually got but the muffin was really good. The sandwiches are not made to order but they will make one for you if you ask for any kind of change to what they offer. My croissant was cold and tasted store bought. I just wish they offered some fresh options to their menu or dropped the prices for store bought stuff. read more

I am a long-time customer.This coffee shop is owned by lovely people and employees even lovelier people. But the speed of service is far too slow for today's world. What makes the slow service even more unacceptable is that there is a Starbucks a few blocks away. Today, I left the 6-car drive-through line here, drove over to Starbucks, waited in Starbucks's 6-car line, got my coffee, and drove back by here only to see that my spot in the line was still not to the window here. That's just crazy. Want to know what is crazier? I have waited up to 25 minutes for my coffee in the past at the shop and I now have a collection of free coffee coupons because of those experiences. I'm quite sad to write this update to my previous review. When First Cup opened the coffee was great. I'm not sure what's happened in the last few months but the filter coffee seems to be increasingly watery and the cappuccino is absolutely terrible. My wife used to love the Venti Breakfast Blend but now would rather just make our own at home. A few weeks back I got a cappuccino and it tasted absolutely noxious. I honestly thought some cleaning fluid had got into the cup or coffee. I told them about it later that day and got a profuse apology. A few weeks later I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and try it again. The coffee tasted very similar. Sadly I think that's the last time I'll be there. Starbucks is opening on 1463 soon, we are now looking forward to that. read more

I like the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and the lemon raspberry muffin is just amazing. Now my fav muffin ever. The coffee was okay and the service is friendly. I actually mentioned to them that I heard the chicken salad was good so they made up a sample for me to try and that's how I went back again and again. My daughter loves it too. My family and I love enjoying First Cup on the weekends together and I stop by sometimes after work. Yesterday afternoon, I came through drive thru and ordered a muffin for myself. The employee at the window did not take my payment or acknowledge that I was there until 4-5 minutes of me siting there. The woman who opened the window did not give an excuse for the wait, instead, took my payment, handed the food and rudely closed the window. When I got home to eat my muffin, I realized it had two spots of dark green mold on the top! This is the second time we've had poor customer service and unsatisfied with our food. Will not be returning. No longer recommending First Cup to Friends or Family, saddened by the experience. read more
