These guys came out to service our neighbors tree that was entagled in power lines. The space they were working on was direct above our driveway. They never gave us any prior notice that work was to be done on any specific day. When I approached them about the work they were doing I offered to move my car so that they could get the work done without any issues. Later on in the afternoon, I asked who I can only assume was the supervisor if they could not use the leaf blower near the drive way and use brooms instead. The guy began to roll his eyes repeatedly and began raising his voice at me and telling me that his crew already "told" me to move my car. That never happened, I offered. He continued to be loud and at that point I asked him if he was trying to properly run a business and that if he was that he should probably work on being more professional. He continued to mouth off and finally walked over to ask the crew to sweep up the debris. The crew that did the actual work were not at fault here. The supervisor was unprofessional in dealing with myself and also repeatedly complained about the neighbors requests that were paying him. When it's all said and done, I would never recommend that anyone use Humboldt Tree Service to work on their property. The supervisor was incapable of containing his aggression when dealing with myself. Please be advised, this is not the company you want to use it the face of the company conducts himself in this specific manner. read more

I had to call a tree company in an emergency about a year ago. I found Humboldt. Tim, the owner came out and took care of my fallen tree. In addition, since the tree had fallen into electric wiring, he referred an electrician who was excellent too. This year when we needed the trees trimmed, we called Humboldt. These guys came in a gave a very fair price for trimming our apple tree that was far too big and tall for its own good. They showed up on time and used safety gear (which not all tree companies use). They trimmed our tree exactly to my request even going back in to take out a little bit more. The clean up was great. You would never know they were ever here. We hired Humboldt Tree service through a recommendation of a competitor who couldn't take care of our tree. We had Tim and his crew in our 100-foot Monterey Pine for two days giving it much needed care and attention, taking out about 50% of the mass of the tree branches. What was a big, dark mess of tangled branches is now an attractive, light, well-shaped feature in our back yard with sunlight dappling through the foliage. He and associate Carlos recently cut back our large Cedrus Deodara again, ( last time done was almost 8 years ago with the other being another 6 or 7 years previous ), which was a laborious job. The old expression comes to mind, "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear." Well, he fooled Mother Nature and the tree looks GREAT having been topped, thinned, and trimmed letting in more light, dramatically improving our view, and will eliminate excessive needle dropping beneath and in surrounding areas. Delicate plants were appropriately tarped/covered, and the crew was friendly as well. I had a great experience with Tim and his crew. I got four bids - two were high and two were reasonable. Tim's was one of the two reasonable bids, but from the moment he came to make an estimate, it was clear that he knew the most about this tree. He took the time to tell me about this variety, how it grows and what it likes. He gave me an estimate that night and we agreed that he would start the job the following week. Two days later, he called to say he could do it even earlier. He and his crew arrived 20 minutes early and jumped right into the job. They were very careful inside our house - they had to carry all the wood and brush through our main living area. They protected the floor and cleaned up when they finished. They were so thorough and fast that I asked them on the spot to trim two other smaller street trees in front of our house. For an additional small fee, they trimmed those trees perfectly as well.
