After walking past a bunch of times in the past few months, I finally went and we were seated outside on the edge of the heated patio (it was still warm enough in the evening). The menu sounded really good but the plates seemed a bit too much so I ordered the sabich sandwich. I've never had one before, but I loved the combination of the fried eggplant, hard boiled egg (even though I don't typically like eggs styled this way, it worked well here), Israeli salad, tahini, and potatoes. The portion was hearty for sure and I had leftovers. The fries that came with it were okay--a bit too salty for my liking. The dipping sauce was good and better than ketchup. The restaurant is super cozy and intimate- it is quite small, but all of the tables are nicely spaced out, and I loved the pillows on the chairs and the other little touches. To start we got an amazing spicy tomato dip with pita. The pita was very fluffy and thick, and some of the best pita that I have had. For our mains, we got the chicken couscous and red chicken. The couscous dish was my favorite- the chicken was succulent, and the couscous with the raisins and onions, and then the vegetable broth on top was amazing. It had tons of flavors that melded amazingly well together. The red chicken was also good and came with rice, but I thought the couscous was better. The only downside is that the place is a bit expensive for what it is. Each entrée was about $26, and the hummus were $16. However, I would still return to get the couscous and try some of the different hummus! read more

Everything came out to the table promptly, fresh, and so tasty. The cauliflower appetizer was made with a twist that I've never tasted before, and I had to order it again. The food here is really really delicious. They have really fantastic middle eastern dishes here. And they also have great vegan options. I ordered the cauliflower, stuffed grape leaves and knafeh. The knafeh was phenomenal. I am so glad this place is cerified Kosher cause I think this is probably the only Kosher spot in NYC that you can get knafeh. But the cauliflower was definitely overpriced. I paid $18 for it. And it wasn't even that much cauliflower. It was like an appetizer. Also their lemonade mint tea had like barely any lemon or mint taste to it. It tasted very watered down. And their waiter wasn't very attentive. He didn't come and give me more water when I ran out. He had to go find him for me to order, bring me dessert and the check. And I did wait for him. He just didn't come. He just didn't come back to the table at all except to bring my food. Both times I've had pleasant interactions with their employees and have had food provided in a reasonable amount of time after ordering. However, I haven't been overly wowed by either entree I've ordered here. The chicken hummus was fine but it's nothing I'd really care to have again unless I was really craving hummus. The shawarma laffa was also nothing special. Had a bit higher expectations for it since it was $16, which is a bit pricey in my opinion.
