The highlight of my meal was the quick delivery and the very nice delivery guy. Seriously, top notch delivery services. I ordered the Bhudda's Delight and Tofu Pad Thai. The Bhudda's Delight was ok, although for all of the sauce it somehow lacked flavor. The Pad Thai was mostly just a pile of brown-ish noodles with a few peanuts and bean sprouts on top. Nothing to add color, nothing to add texture, and again, the sauce was unremarkable. I see a lot of good reviews, so maybe it was just an off-night, but for the price I don't know if I'll risk another shot. I'd rather just drive the 15 minutes to Fuji Asian and know that it'll be worth the carbs and sodium. I'd rate this more like a 3.5. I got a tofu dish (forget which) and the vegetarian curry. I didn't think the tofu dish was as good as Sho Chin's dishes. There wasn't enough tofu and the overall flavor was underwhelming. My curry dish was pretty good but not nearly as good as the curry I usually get from Thai Kitchen. Portion sizes were okay but, again, not as big as other places I frequent. I did, however, love the spring rolls. They are large and come with a great dipping sauce. read more

Nice little restaurant. Surprisingly good Chinese food for a place that's located in a Publix shopping plaza. I thought that it would be one of your typical Chinese take-out places, but the place is set up like a sit-down restaurant with sit-down restaurant quality food. In my opinion Hunan has the best Asian cuisine in the Augusta area. No, it is not cheap eats. I find you get what you pay for. The quality of the food is much greater in comparison to the price. We have had the same waitress each time we have visited. She is kind, courteous and fast. She is very knowledgeable about every item on the menu. No one in my family has ever been disappointed with anything they have ordered. Crab Angels are amazingly delectable. The pot stickers are amazing, practically a meal themselves. My kids love the teriyaki chicken on a stick. I have stolen some off their plate, delicious. I will continue to patronize them as they are by far the best in town. read more

We moved to Clarks Hill recently and have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant. We definitely found it here at Hunan Cafe! The service was fast and friendly. The food came out quickly and you could tell it was freshly made, not sitting in the back in a warmer. Hot and sour soup was excellent,spicier than I'm used to, but just what I was looking for. My husband had the Beef with Broccoli, sauce was great and the veggies were fresh and crisp. I had the Orange Chicken. Breading was light and not overly sauced. After reading the reviews for this place I was torn on whether to try it or not... I wish I hadn't. I walked in and the setup is a little confusing. Once I figured out I needed to cut through the dining room to the counter to place an order, I walked up to the counter but wasn't really greeted. Finally the woman asked me what number I wanted. I ordered and was told it would be twenty minutes. When I came back in I found my food sitting on the counter. The food was "blah". I ordered the orange beef. This is perhaps the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. I had the cashew king-pau with chicken and it was amazing! I also had the sizzling rice soup, which was also wonderful. The steamed dumplings were very good as an appetizer. 5 stars for sure! There's only about 6 tables, but we were able to be seated right away. Unfortunately when everyone in your family orders egg rolls, it adds up quickly at $2.50 each (which is my only complaint--I wish there was a less expensive order with more than one egg roll). I am almost reluctant to review this place, because I want it to remain my little secret. Hunan is tucked away in a little shopping center on Fury's Ferry Road, in a nondescript storefront. Seating is limited, there are about 6-8 tables, and the decor is basic. The lighting is soft, which is good for hiding unsightly physical flaws, and also creates that ambiance I know you go for on your typical foray to chinese restaurants. But I digress. Hunan holds a special place in my heart, because the food is delicious and the people who work there are great. The menu is pretty standard panasian cuisine, among my favorites are the Yellow Curry, the Sesame Tofu, and the Sweet Chili Tofu. I am a vegetarian, ie liberal whackjob with no taste for flesh, but they will make any, that's right ANY, dish on their menu with tofu; of course they will also do chicken, beef, pork, and sometimes shrimp with many of their dishes as well. Such accomodation for the vegetarian palate is a welcomed rarity in this neckathewoods. The food is well-spiced, and has many unique flavors. You can tell that the nice Asian Lady who runs the place puts a lot of thought into the recipes. I usually get takeout from there once a week, and they now know me by name, and will always throw in some spicy chili sauce with my order, without me asking. That's how much they love their customers. The service at the restaurant is pretty good. They'll bring you food and refill your water, and are friendly. What else could you ask for? As far as chinese food in augusta goes, and believe me I've scraped the bottom of the barrel when it comes to this (read: szechuan garden, the on-call medical student's go-to food), Hunan takes 1st place. read more

This is a nice spot for Chinese food in Evans. I always grade a Chinese restaurant by the Chow Mein and this place did a pretty good job. The chicken was nicely cooked and the vegetables were prepared well, the only thing lacking was the bean sprouts (may have been an oversight) and flavor. Maybe a little more soy or 5 spice, I dunno. My girlfriend and I ordered takeout from this restaurant. Malaysian kung pao cashew chicken and ginger pork. The flavors were good, but the pork was very overcooked and difficult to eat. Their fried rice was a joke - just stir fried rice with soy sauce... no veggies, egg, or other seasoning at all. Also, it is somewhat expensive for what you get.. $13 for my overcooked pork dish. Overall, I would say that this place is average, and I would not come here again because there are better "Chinese" food options that are close by. read more

It took a little over an hour which was exactly what they told me on the phone. When my food arrived it was still hot. I never eat all of my Chinese food but I did last night! Probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. I have found that clean sit down Chinese restaurants are hard to come by in Augusta. They serve good food and have great lunch specials. The food and service may be ok in the restaurant, but DEAR GOD don't try to get it delivered to your house. Whatever system they may have in place to insure timely delivery is SERIOUSLY FLAWED. Our latest purchase for delivery effort resulted in a two hour wait time and then a rude attempt on the part of the managers to duck and cover when the restaurant was confronted with the fact that they had made a grievous error. Here's a tip for you concerning the operation of a successful business; when a customer is wronged or terribly inconvenienced by your mistake, you own it and you make it right. By doing so you retain your customer's loyalty instead of loosing that customer permanently. read more

In this review I'll compare Hunan against Fuji Asian. *Both have good food - tie *Both are clean - tie *The menus are very similar, however Fuji has a greater selection - plus 1 to Fuji *Both have friendly servers however Fuji typically has two or three servers verses one at Hunan - plus 1 to Fuji *Hunan is more expensive for the same entrees with the same quality - plus 1 to Fuji. So, overall I would recommend Fuji Asian over Hunan. In either case, you should enjoy the experience. read more
