"Pork Curry Fried Rice - Hot and Spicy" but tasted like steamed white rice with a lil bit of salt as seasoning and 4 pieces of chewy pork. We order carry-out from this location two or three times a month. They deliver but it's close by so I just pick it up. The spring rolls are excellent, obviously hand-rolled fresh. The rolls are reason enough to place an order but their orange beef and triple delights are excellent as well. We loved the vegetarian options: vegetable spring rolls, vegetable fried rice, szechuan string beans (which were not overcooked and not soggy) vegetarian king pao chicken, vegetarian beef with broccoli, and vegetarian sweet and sour chicken (they automatically put the sauce on the side)! EVerything was seasoned well and not salty! They packaged it well in the Togo bag and it was piping hot!! Even today the leftovers were still delicious. Online ordering was easy. We usually stick to 88 China or Taste of Hong Kong so I wanted to know how this place compares. My dad noticed there was another Hunan Cafe located in Falls Church, which is one he's been to so he said it was good there. So what the heck, why not. I ordered and then went to look it up to see if there was a page already set up for them on yelp. When I saw that it was the same place as Far East Kitchen, I thought gosh darnit I hope it's new owners because we just wasted 40 bucks on this place. Good thing...new management! -Egg drop soup was delicious, and had alot of eggs! -Hot and sour soup needed some spicyness to it, a bit bland so it was just ok for me. -Szchuen beef was good, I really wish they would put more beef because it was covered in carrots and celery and I had to look for some beef but it was delicious. The sauce had a good amount of spicyness to it and it was flavorful. -General Tsos chicken was my favorite dish. It wasn't ovenrly breaded and it was a generous portion. -Pad thai chicken was a no for me. It just didn't taste authentic but we got it because it was free (if you order over $35). I would suggest go to a Thai restaurant if you want it. Overall, prices are affordable for both lunch and dinner. They did change the inside also, it actually has chairs and tables to sit at. The walls have nicer pictures with a nicer menu. It doesn't look dirty as before or uninviting. They just need to change the name ASAP so people don't get confused. This time I went with: Shrimp Lo Mein - Was shocked at how ma y shrimp were actually in it, and to top it off they were not the tiny ones. 5/5 Chicken in Garlic Sauce - The sauce is divine, First time ever having this and will be ordering again. I did ask for it to be extra spicy and they delivered on the heat. 5/5 Szechuan Beef - I have had this many times from other restaurants but never from here. It was not as spicy as I would have liked, but I. blame myself for not asking for it to be extra spicy. This restaurant does not offer dine-in and only does carry outs. This is the closest Chinese food to my house, so I get it often. Their food isn't great but it's quick and convenient. My husband and I have been ordering take-out from HUNAN CAFE GREENBRIAR for several years...and the food is ALWAYS delicious, consistently fresh and flavorful, with the carryout orders perfectly filled. We highly recommend this place! The people who greet you are super friendly! The portions are quite large and we've enjoyed every dish we've tried. We highly recommend the egg rolls, wonton and egg drop soups. For entrees, we especially love their shrimp and lobster sauce ~ it's so good! Ugh. So, I tried this place for lunch on a weekday and I absolutely loved the food. I had the vegetarian sweet & sour and ohhh, it was so good with breaded mock chicken and lots of sauce. I was excited for my husband to try it so I brought him back Saturday night of that same week. We both got vegetarian chicken again: His was General Tso's and mine was the sesame chicken style. He didn't like it as much as I did but we were both overall pleased with our food. A couple of hours later, I was in agonising pain. Food poisoning. My husband, thankfully, was not similarly afflicted. We both had the mock chicken, rice, and the same kind of drink, so the virus-y food must have been in the sesame sauce. I can't remember if there were different vegetables in the two dishes but I suppose that's a possibility, as well. Sorry, I tried and I see people eating in here at lunch time all of the time and, presumably, they're all fine but, for me, I can't justify going back to a place that I got food poisoning from. read more

Solid chinese take-out. As someone else says, the fried rice doesn't have veggies in it, but it's cooked just right (not too dry or greasy). I had one of the lunch special, and it came neatly arranged on a plate with a spring roll. Some places load up on the vegetables in their dishes and skimp on meat, but Hunan had just the right mix. It's not particularly remarkable in any way, but I'd definitely eat here again. Note, they're located on the side of Greenbriar shopping center, down on the end where Marshalls is. Combo lo mein: nasty, salty, soggy, oily, no taste but soy sauce (more about this below) S & S chicken: oily, and sauce was bland. shrimp and veggie dish (forgot the name: picture is on the menu) was the only thing that was good. Shrimp were colossal. Egg drop soup; bland and not much there. Combo lo mein was not edible and I called to let the restaurant know that I wanted my money back. After a few "hold ons" the response was to replace the lo mein with lo mein that I complained about, which I said no thank you. Then it was... well, we'll give you another dish next time. Terrible service. Just give the customer their money back. So over $7.95 instead of giving me a good experience and saying sorry and offering me money back, they made it too complicated and convenient only for them and lost future business. The food is decent. Its nothing to rave or get excited about. It is overpriced for sure. Two meals with 2 egg rolls will cost about $30.00 with delivery. When you go in, you will not be greeted by anyone friendly. Usually there are a bunch of grade school children working behind the counter. They don't come across as being very happy. I've been frequenting the Ups Store right next door and finally decided to make a stop in to check out Hunan Cafe. The place is small, but there are a few tables and chairs where you can cop a squat to eat a quick bite. There is a station for hot tea, which is really thoughtful and I always appreciate when even small-ish, mostly to-go places go to the trouble of providing that level of hospitality. Although, the lack of air conditioning make even the thought of sipping on hot tea a non-starter. The young woman who took my order was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the twice cooked pork lunch combo and it came out pretty quickly. There was about an equal ratio of fried rice to the twice cooked pork dish, and also came with a small spring roll. The spring roll oozed oil when I bit into it; sadly this did not deter me from finishing the dang thing. --I will eat almost anything when you apply a little squirt of duck sauce.-- The rice was boring. Just dry fried rice with nothing special going on at all. Not even a little cube of carrot. Lonely dry rice :( On the upside, the twice cooked pork was an altogether different story! It was served with a slightly spicy brown sauce, a ton of fresh vegetables and tender bits of pork. This was heavenly! Decided to give this place a try. Was skeptical because I did NOT like it at all before it had turned over to "New Management", assuming that was simply a name change. Ordered chow fun, general tso's chicken and twice cooked pork. The veggies were fresh. Big slices of carrot and celery, nice shredded cabbage. I enjoyed it especially for the fresh veg factor. Though, my husband who LOVES general tso's chicken said the flavor was lacking (fixed by Sriracha) and asserted that China King (Herndon Clocktower) makes it better. I would order from there again. On the comical side: on first two orders they made the spicy food extra spicy, since I'm Asian. This is our go-to Chinese place. The food is predictable and tasty. Their delivery is pretty fast too. I normally go for the steamed shrimp and the texture is always perfect. Boyfriend usually gets General Tso's or something similar, and it's always been tasty too. The skin should be crisp but we got skin that was limp, chewy and actually had gobs of fat still attached which significantly affected the flavor and texture and not in a good way. The only reason I gave it two stars is because I was impressed that the pancakes didn't stick together, a problem I've had with other restaurants. I bit into a chicken anus bone in my chicken lo mein. Seriously, a small small intact circular bone. I had also ordered some dumplings and chicken fried rice for my wife. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it I found this on my second bite and before my wife began eating. Thus, our appetite was gone and we threw all the food in the trash. I went to this place that replaced the longstanding Far East Kitchen purely by coincidence, not realizing the change in ownership until I arrived (the old Far East Kitchen sign was even still up). Now having eaten at the restaurant a few times I can honestly say that I am completely sold on a couple of their dishes. I first tried the Moo Shu Chicken and was completely impressed. They charged what seemed like a mint for the couple extra pancakes requested, but still the quality of the dish was quite good. Ordered next time, and every time thereafter was their General Tso's Chicken. The taste was spot on perfect, as was the consistency. One of the most impressive aspects to the dish is unlike most Chinese restaurants, they only use white meat, and don't over-bread the pieces. The best way to order the dish is through their lunch combo that comes with a generous portion of the chicken, fried rice and a small egg roll (that resembles a spring roll) for $7.25 currently. On the negative side is dinner item pricing is on the high side, and their egg drop soup was completely unmemorable (and served without fried noodles). All in all, I'll be back for sure... read more

Never even got to taste the food. They over charged us by $30. I ordered a half order of Peking duck, and they sent a whole order. When the delivery man called they said to just send the whole Peking duck back, and they would deliver a half order when they could. We tallied the bill, and it was still another $15 over. It was written in Chinese so we had no idea what was on there. We didn't want to wait another hour to eat so we sent the whole order back. When I called to make sure they voided it from my credit card, they offered to reheat the food and give us a 20% discount. read more
