Bias- I am picky about Chinese food. My wife used to run a store right next to a Chinese restaurant and I know BAD BAD THINGS.. So my 5 star rating of this place should speak volumes. Its quiet, quaint, and simple. Nothing fancy about this place just good food and good people. The service has always been excellent. I am a big fan of their Hunan beef and their eggdrop soup. This is not a high end place, prices are low and the place is clean. Not fancy, clean. Which in the Chinese food world..... Means the most. We are in Kansas and it rains . Its December. My husband called in and about 15 minutes later got called back, to pick it up. We ordered the Beef with soft noodles and Black Mushrooms with Bamboo Sprouts. It was absolutely delicious! The portions were well prepared, generous and hot! Stopped on the way to a soccer tournament with hungry young men. Perfect location off the highway. The boys didn't want chain food but weren't sure about a mall fast food place. We were in the area. So we decided to eat here. Service was excellent. Food looked and tasted old. No fresh food on buffet. Their pop was that. As I looked around I noticed that either the customers were drinking tea or water. The tea is excellent. After having the pop. I realized why everyone was drinking tea or water. The place was busy. Looks and feels very much a local place. If you have had other buffet, then wouldn't recommend here. If you are local, this is probably your favourite place to eat read more

Tucked away in the corner of an old strip mall on the west side of town, lies one of my absolute favorite restaurants...Hunan Garden. This establishment has been around for years and it's no big secret why. The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the service is great. Whether it's lunch, dinner or buffet all the way, you won't be disappointed! Have you ever heard the saying, 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'? Well, that definitely rings true in this case. This place has been here for as long as I can remember. It never fails to be delicious and is as welcoming as one could ask for. My husband, son and I picked up some Chinese to go. Since we originated from Springfield, we were excited for their "Springfield" style cashew chicken. That's what both of the boys got, and I got the Mongolian beef. The boys both said that the chicken tasted like they picked it out of the buffet, like it had been cooked hours earlier. The food was edible, but not one of us thought it was good. Maybe we caught them on an off day. That's the reason I'm giving them 3 stars. read more

The staff is so friendly and quick. They make you feel very welcome and that's sometimes hard to find. The food was quick hot and delicious. Had the Phad Thai and it was spicy and full of chicken and shrimp. You can get a feast for 10 bucks and some sake for 3.50. My go to Chinese restaurant. read more

This restaurant is very good. The walnut shrimp is excellent with lots of shrimp. All of the appetizers we have tried have been great. It has most of the dishes you would expect. The reason I am only giving it three stars is because they leave the duck sauce in little pots on the table. The second time I noticed an odd texture to the duck sauce. I asked the server if we could have some fresh duck sauce and he just stood there arguing with me. He started getting more agitated till I finally just said ok fine. Never mind. I went here because I just moved to college and I NEEDED Chinese food. The thing is I don't have very many friends here yet so I went by myself. I was worried about looking like a loser but my cafe closed and I needed food. I went for it, drove there, walked in and kept my head down. I looked up and saw the thing all men want to see. Hunan Garden in Kearney, MO is our new go to Chinese restaurant. We have ordered delivery each time, so I have no review yet on the actual restaurant, just the food. Each order the food has been delicious and fresh. The chicken tastes like real chicken and not some mystery meat like other Chinese restaurants. We have not been disappointed in any food. My husband sticks to his lo means and fried rice dishes & has been very pleased with the taste and quality. I have tried their Kung Pao chicken, cashew chicken, beef with broccoli, chicken fried rice, along with egg drop soup, crab Rangoon, and egg rolls. EVERYTHING is delicious. As for their spicy dishes, they are not spicy at all. They add red peppers to the dish, but not to the point of the food burning as it goes down. I appreciate that because I can't handle overly spicy food anymore. For those who prefer really spicy, you might be a bit disappointed. read more

The name is great, the building has walls, windows and a ceiling. It has some good air conditioning too. The seating is great. there are various types of seats available and you can sit on them. Hunan is really good. Try the Springfield Cashew Chicken. Delicious! Call ahead and pick it up in 10 minutes. Portions are big enough for two to share. Lunch specials is a bargain and comes with soup an eggroll and a crab rangoon. Very good food and fast! read more
