Great food! Came here for a work event & they were able to accommodate all of us well. The vibes inside are very nice, and the service was great. The parking was a little tough as it is limited outside. It is also relatively difficult for vegetarians.
My wife and I stopped by Kunjip Tofu for lunch on a Saturday and we showed up exactly when they opened at 11:00 a.m. There was a long line outside, but we were fortunate enough that we were able to make first seating. After getting seated, we were promptly greeted and offered either complementary hot tea or water. If you're not familiar with the menu here, each person is required to order their own entree, most of which start around $28. My wife ordered a mild tofu soup with mixed proteins while I ordered an abalone bibimbap. In addition to our entrees, we also split a seafood pancake. I'm not the biggest fan of seafood pancake, but the one here is distinctly different than any that I've ever tried before. The texture of the pancake actually tastes very similar to shrimp toast. There's no shortage of seafood in every bite and the pancake is perfectly crispy without tasting oily. The pancake here is on the smaller side, but one pancake is more than enough for a group of 2-3 to share. The abalone in my bibimbap entree is skillfully prepared. There was no rubbery texture at all and the four abalone pieces were all very plump. The stone bowl the bibimbap arrived in wasn't blistering hot, but the bowl still managed to crisp up a bunch of rice on the bottom of the bowl. I appreciate that the spicy sauce is provided on the side so you can control how spiciness and salty the dish is. I absolutely love that each entree comes with an assortment of 10 different types of banchans. My favorites were the imitation crab slaw, the quail eggs, the shrimp cake, and the pumpkin puree with apple chunks. There's a staff member carting around refills of every single banchan, so don't hold back on enjoying your favorite banchan items because they come with unlimited refills. While the food here was fantastic all around, the highlight was truly the service. The warm hospitality of each staff member we interacted with was memorable and greatly appreciated. Special shout-out to Jinny as well, who helped us quickly resolve a small issue where we received white rice instead of purple rice with our tofu soup. If you're looking for next level Korean food with spectacular service, look no further than Kunjip Tofu. I cannot recommend this spot enough.
Worth the price tag! Kunjip is definitely a more expensive Korean restaurant for the area but the service, the ambiance and the food quality makes the price worth it. We ordered the Japchae, spicy octopus bibimap, a mixed tofu soup and the grilled spicy pork. Everything was very well seasoned and came out very quickly. The kimbap was very delicious and colorful. They have a cart that comes around to replenish your kimbap when you run out! The Japchae had a flat thicker noodle which gave the noodle more chew and held the sauce very well. We arrived at 4:30pm on a Sunday and were seated immediately. By the time we left, there were many groups waiting for a table.
We ordered take out via door dash. Everything was well packed and delicious. Seafood pancake -- probably the best I've had. There's a layer of crunch that is unbelievable. Fried crab -- so delicate and delicious. Waygu Galbi -- Omg ! So good! Waygu bugolgi -- also yummy Bibimbap-- love the mixture of rice and vegetables . The banchan came in perfect packaged boxes.
Good but hard to say if is worth the wait if you have to wait longer than 30/40 mins. I believe the avg wait can get pretty long on weekends. Luckily I got there for an early dinner like 5pm and was seated in about 20 mins. All the entree come with their own unlimited banchan and it's kinda plated individual style instead of family style though you can just share Food- Snow crab twigim: this is basically a fried crab leg. Def real crab. It was good. Japchae: small portion but tasty. They use like a wider flat noodle which I found interesting. The taste was basically the same as regular japchae but with a little elevation such as the nori as well. Wagyu galbi: was def tasty. Par for the course at premium kbbq restaurants A5 tofu soup: good and the beef quality is def better than what you find at most tofu soup spots but a5? I low-key feel it wasn't all that tender. Not sure I'd get this again Wagyu beef bulgogi bibimbap: solid bibimbap. The rice was crispy. It was good but I prob wouldn't get again mainly just due to I feel there were better dishes Seafood pancake: this was an interesting take on the seafood pancake. It kinda tastes like those shrimp cakes except there's other seafood in it as well but the main part is the shrimp cake. Was good and fairly interesting. Would def recommend at least trying once Overall, food was solid but dunno if I'd go all the way from San Jose and wait 40+ mins etc tho I wouldn't mind eating again if I was in the area
This place has such an incredible reputation and the food really is solid, but I think you can find better for cheaper elsewhere in the Bay. The tofu soup is packed with flavor and umami. We ordered the snow crab tofu soup and it was filled with tender seafood. The kalbi jjim wasn't great though. The sauce had too much of a mole-like taste and texture to it. I much prefer the kalbi jjim at Daeho. The bonchon dishes are where this restaurant really stands out. I think they may be the best in the Bay. You get a huge variety and each is beautifully and deliciously prepared. They also do a wonderful job of constantly replenishing dishes that you finish. Speaking of which, the service here is phenomenal. The setting is also upscale and super classy.
4 of us came by on a saturday lunch, about 45 min wait. We ordered: -seafood pancake $18 -2x wagyu tofu soup $30/ea -abalone bibimbap $38 -wagyu seolleongtang $34 Pancake was on smaller side, but very crispy and flavors were good. Entrees on pricier side, but reasonable portions and nice touch for wide variety of personal sides. Staff friendly. Parking in the back.
My sister and I were in need of a good location to enjoy lunch. She has had Kunjip Tofu on her radar for quite some time so we decided to pull the trigger and make the drive. If you didn't already know, KT is considered an upscale restaurant specializing in traditional Korean cuisine. The Wagyu beef dishes and the premium tofu soups will leave you craving for more. Due to the high ratings and non stop foot traffic, reservations are highly recommended and come here expecting a wait regardless of doing so. Lunch: *Sikhye Pumpkin- Korean Sweet Drink *Abalone Galbi Tang *Spicy Wagyu Oxtail Jjim [medium spice level] *Japchae *Chinese Date Dessert Thank you to Ms. Jennifer for being so patient, helpful, and informative with the menu and its offerings. Your input did not fail and your attentive service is unmatched. Food: Everything was delicious, including all 10 of the different banchan provided. My most enjoyed sides were: seasoned squid, pickled radish cubes, & the crunchy root. The japchae was good- nothing great. The best part of this dish was the thick chewy noodles, flavors were alright. The abalone galbi tang was delicious- the broth was clean, beefy, and deep in flavor. The huge chunks of meat were tender, falling right off the bones. The spicy wagyu oxtail jjim was the highlight of my meal. Oxtails were cooked to perfection- tender, gelatinous in the right places. The sauce was rich, flavorful and tasted so good smothered over the purple rice. 10/10, I would recommend the oxtail jjim to everyone! 5/5 stars for the yummy eats. Pricing is kind of high IMO and the portions are small but the high quality and delectable taste is undeniable. Another 5/5 stars for the staff who is all so very kind and pleasant. This would be a good place to bring your Asian parents. Has upholstered seating and nice lighting to make them feel high status Rice ball complementary for kids at beginning of meal nice. As a Korean, Kunjip Tofu is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the bay area. While it doesn't necessarily have a traditional Korean vibe, but more of a modern take on Korean dishes, it is truly delicious and highlights Korean cuisine. The vibe here is more classy and high-end. The hosts and servers are very polite with a polished aura. It does always have a wait, even on weekdays, so consider joining the line beforehand on Yelp. They give you a lot of delicious side dishes (banchan) that are unlimited refills.
I ordered to-go and was thoroughly impressed! Packaging is fantastic and the banchan selection is super diverse. You only get a little bit of everything and so I do recommend going to the restaurant for a dine-in experience where you could ask for re-fills (I was too tired after my flight). The spicy pork belly was well seasoned and had a really fresh taste to it. I order this at many restaurants, but the marinade really shined on this one. I wish it came with a little bit more meat, but they did include a lot of vegetables. You're definitely paying a premium for their food and I think they do their best to show that with their ingredient quality and packaging. They really do go the extra mile, but it did fall short in some ways. The rice was a little mushy and again the portions for to-go are a little tough to swallow the price for. I'd definitely come back to dine-in and think that would be a 5/5, but for a splurge to-go order: definitely great, but not perfect to give it 5 stars.
4/5: Would have been 4.5/5 if it weren't for service. I was not impressed with service. Once we sat down, I was asked how many water for us and that water never came until I asked again after we finished our appetizer already. Water was never refilled either. Not sure if there is specific water for each row of table booths. This is basic. Come on! Seafood pancake: It wasnt anything spectacular. Maybe, my expectation was higher for this dish since its one of my favorite. Bulgogi: This was really good. Sauce and flavor on the meat is just right and not overpowering with sauce or greasy with common korean palces. Tender too! Seafood soup: This was really good both and fair amount of seafood in there. The flavor of the broth itself is savory and not the typical korean soup taste I have come to expect in a good way. Was just disappointed with the service.
We have been fans of the OG Kunjip since they opened and it took us awhile to make it out to Kunjip Tofu, but would definitely be back. We could only get reservations at 4:30 PM on a Sunday with a 90 minute dining limit and was surprised how packed it was even at that time. The waiting queue did not seem to let it up even when we left. The restaurant is warm and inviting and service was great until after we placed our order, which is why the minus one star. Once we got our food, the cart of banchans appeared, but many times she just passed us by even when I kept saying excuse me to catch her attention. Our waiter also never stopped by to see if we needed anything. On to the food, we had appetizers of the Kunjip Tofu, Wagyu Yookhweh, and Wagyu Dduk-Galbi. They are all size in portion but all very good. The yookhweh was my favorite. All the textures and flavors went so beautifully together. For the entree, I went with the spicy octopus bibimbap. Loved the presentation on the tray and not having to share my banchans! I actually enjoyed the banchans more, as the rice was just too mushy in the bibimbap. The octopus was cooked nicely though, very tender. Sadly, I do think this dish gave me some stomach problems, so would not order this again and try their tofu stew next time. Overall, a great restaurant. It is pricey but the level of food you receive is worth it!

I understand the hype now and the hype is real! After hiking with one of my gfs, she suggested grabbing lunch here since its one of her current favorite Korean restaurant. She mentioned the only thing is that we need to get there right when the restaurant opens which is 11AM or we will most likely have to wait for 1.5hrs. So we cut our hike short and was the second party in-line. I wanted to try everything on that menu but decided on the mixed tofu soup + braised kalbijim. I like our entrees but the star of the show is definitely the ban chan. They had this one particular radish that I couldn't get enough of, I would go back just for the ban chan. I had many tofu soups in my life but the one of here is so different. It's not homey but just very elevated. Actually, all their dishes were elevated. The kalbijim cuts of meats were super tender and well worth the price. We also order the shrimp kimbap to go and that was also amazing. I will definitely come back to try this place but maybe with a few more friends so we can order a variety of dishes. read more

My friends and I had dinner at Kunjip on a Saturday night with a reservation. I highly recommend making a reservation as this place gets busy around dinner time. There were so much good options but I was still very full from lunch so didn't want anything too heavy so I opted for the mackerel set that came with doenjang soup, purple rice, and a assortment of banchans! I like that someone comes around to refill your banchans. They are unlimited refills so eat away! The mackerel was grilled to perfection and I loved it so much that they gave you wasabi on the side. It helped cut the greasiness! Afterwards, they give you a little dessert but I wasn't a fan of it. Next time, I do want to try their galbi Jim or soups! read more

Loveeee Kunjip Tofu. Same owners as 10 Butchers Korean BBQ so you just KNOW both their banchan and meat game is top tier. Great service, we got our banchan refilled 3+ times each lol. Meat is always so tasty, the short rib and bulgolgi are always so mouthwatering. I love the wagyu bulgoli especially with the hot stone bowl getting the rice all crispy and the seaweed drizzled with sesame oil (?) surrounding it, so delicious. Note their air conditioning is pretty strong so if you get cold easily, bring a jacket. The strong AC/air filtration makes it so your clothes don't smell really meaty which is nice. The inside is well lit but the windows are super tinted. Parking lot in the back has a good amount of spots but probably not enough when the waitlist is super long. We normally go at off hours like Saturday 4pm so there's no wait. They don't take reservations but have a Yelp waitlist + they have a nice outdoor waiting area. read more

(Mountain View) Food: *Seafood pancake(10/10)- Seafood pancake with shrimp, octopus, and green onion. Perfectly crispy in each bite . Mild salty flavor from the seafood blended well with the mild spicy sauce. A must buy *Snow crab Bibimbap (10/10)- Crab was prepared and tasted fresh. Very easy to cut and chew. Rice, seaweed, veggies on the rice, in addition of the banchan all blended deliciously with the different texture on the dish. Nothing was over powering. Free refill on the banchan (10 small side dishes) *Bulgogi Bibimbap (9.7/10)- same as stated above. Beef was cooked really well and easy to chew. Great portion size on the protein. Ambience: clean, simple and elegant decoration. Great for small to large party. 75-minute dining limit for all,90 minutes for parties of 6+ RSV. Service: Phenomenal service. Every staff was kind and helpful. Got any request on a timely manner and would check on us with needs and how the food was. Price: Is it pricy? Yes. Is it worth every penny? Absolutely. The best Korean restaurant I've ever had. The main courses are generous in portion. All the sides were delicious and they came around often to refill all the flavors are amazing. we made reservations. Please come and create your own adventure. read more
The service was great but the wait was very long even on a weeknight. We tried to call ahead for a reservation and it still didn't help much. The food was good and there was plenty of banchan. It was a great place to try, but a little pricey. Overall, the interior was beautiful and a nice place to go for a special occasion. read more

We had lunch here before the concert. Honestly I really do not know what was ordered as our friend ordered before we arrived as we were short on time. This is a Korean restaurant on the fancy side, very pretty and well decorated. The service was very good and the sweet lady pushed the cart of banchans to refill without us asking. Instead of variety of banchan to share, they actuall offer individual set of banchan so we do not have to reach over to get to the ones we like. I have already been back to Kunjip Tofu 5 times and I've only been living in the Bay Area for 2 months. This spot has quickly become one of my favorites. All of the banchan (which have free refills) are so delicious and provide a nice variety of textures and flavors. I usually get the Wagyu galbi or the crab bibimbap. Both are delicious but the galbi is something you have to try at least once. It is so tender and flavorful. A bit of a splurge but I think it's worth it. read more
This is going to be different from my other reviews because I only got their take out Kimbap and WOW! AMAZING! $8-12 a roll and they're delicious and delicate and so tender! The ingredients are finely chopped and fresh! It's is light, refreshing, and very, very satisfying! This Kimbap melts in the mouth! Also it's beautifully packaged and CLEARLY labeled with a sticker. I appreciate that attention to detail. Someone dropped off a roll as a special treat for me. It was so delicious that the next day I immediately went myself and bought 4 rolls. We did the Wagyu Galbi & spicy Pork Bulgogi, both were well done & came with a bunch of interesting banchans - quail(?) eggs, tiny fishes, mini pancake etc. Definate try for occasions, just be ready for the sticker shock. One of the best modern Korean restaurant in town. We reserved couples days earlier. It was busy when we arrived. The interior is modern looks and doesn't assembled a korean restaurant. The menu is pretty comprehensive with option from tang, bimbimbap, grilled, tofu soup, and appetizer. Each person have to order one. The order come with individual tray for each one with set of banchan. The banchan is refillable except the abalone if I am not mistaken. This is the first time I have abalone as part of banchan. We ordered seafood pancake, kunjip tofu, octopus bimbimbap, seafood tofu soup, grilled markarel, and spicy pork bulgogi. The foods were yummy. Bottom line: upscale, fancier versions of some of your K favs, FLAMEY galbi. Vibez: located off El Camino, just outside downtown Lou rain view towards Los Altos, sits the shop with its own parking lot. Chic decor and seating arrangement, mostly booths but some can accommodate large groups. Service was excellent, had no issue getting banchan refills. Service was so good, I'd come back because they made it feel so easy to enjoy the food. Bathroom: men's: notably, classy electronic music played that wasn't in the restaurant. Made it enjoyable to visit. Clean. Only had a hand dryer. Seafood pancake: you know what I liked, it wasn't a giant thing. It was tasty, three bites a piece, four pieces total. Crispy, flavorful, nearly FLAMEY. Galbi: it was expensive, but each bite was FLAMEY. Fatty goodness, tender melty, sweet and a little salty. Great with the lettuce wrap. My friend introduced me to this place cause she says it is one of her favorite places and now it's definitely one of my favorite spots. We came on a Saturday and the wait was an hour long, but they have a machine that provides drinks and there are heaters while you wait. I got the abalone galbitang which was already seasoned and flavorful. The meat was super tender and every bite was delicious. I tried the wagyu galbi which was absolutely delicious and it had me thinking about it the whole time on my 45 minute drive home. The wagyu galbi was also tender, seasoned well, and delicous. I also tried the spicy oxtail which was fall of the bone and great flavor. We got the spicy which had a kick but wasn't too bad. The have carts to come by to ask which one of your banchans needs to be refilled, which is a nice touch. Service was great - everyone was nice and attentive. Their service is definitely top notch. Kunjip is a one of a kind restaurant in the bay that offers homemade Banchan, tofu soups, and Wagyu beef dishes. I was able to call ahead to be added to the waitlist which was amazing! On a busy Saturday we pulled up and was able to get seated immediately since we had already been waiting. They have a parking lot in the back which is really convenient. I was really pleasantly surprised throughout this whole meal. I was a little skeptical based on the price of the dishes but all the dishes have extremely high quality and fresh ingredients as well as huge portion sizes. Each dish is definitely worth the price and felt like a good value. My seafood tofu had 2 pieces of snow crab, 2 scallops, 3 massive shrimp and octopus! The soup had a great depth in flavor. The banchan is also unlimited they came around 2 times asking if you want any refills of specific items. I've never had a lot of the banchan they provided but they were all so delicious. The Wagyu bulgogi was great as well. We loved how they gave butter lettuce so you could make lettuce wraps with the meat. It was well seasoned and not overly salty or sweet. The decor of the restaurant is so pretty and comfortable. The tables felt very private and the bathroom was very clean and modern. I did end up finding out that Kunjip has the same ownership as 10 Butchers which makes total sense in their approach to experience and food quality. I would happily come back often to eat here and want to try more items off their menu! read more
I've been here twice now and both times was packed so definitely join the waitlist asap because the wait can get long. The food is sooo good, the service is great and the ambiance is clean and modern. I also love that the banchan is unlimited. I got the wagyu bulgogi the first time and the galbi jjim the second time. I enjoyed both but I personally liked the wagyu bulgogi more. It is a lil pricey but honestly worth it because of the quality! read more

A friend told us this place had quite the wait so plan ahead to get on the Yelp waitlist or get there as soon as they open at 11am to get seated. We did the latter and Immediately got seated. You get a timed spot for 75 mins. Food: Our group ordered the mushroom and snow crab tofu soups with medium spice preference. The entrees came with a side of several banchans. The banchans were unlimited and you could ask for more, standard in most Korean restaurants. The crab was sumptuous and the soup was flavorful without being too overpowering or spicy. The portion sizes were generous. One of the banchans were quail eggs which was very new to me. I loved everything! They provided a complimentary dessert. It was a red bean treat which was not too sweet and just the right size to conclude the meal. Service: service was efficient and attentive. We were offered Banchan refills multiple times by their staff carrying around a cart of all their offerings. Ambience: The dining room is upscale and the decor is quite nice - dim even during the day with their tinted windows all over. All their tables are standard booths for 4. We were impressed by the cleanliness and the brass utensils. Parking is available in their adjoining lot. Overall, I'd give this place a solid 4/5 for maintaining high quality across their menu items and for their upscale dining ambience. read more
This is our second time here, so excited to come back. We like that they are kids friendly, the highchair is nice and they get a kids drinking cup. But this time our server also completely disappeared, we saw her once in the beginning to ask for water but she never came back with water but I saw her go back to all the other tables.. So we had to flag down others to take care of us. Not sure if what happened was cause she didn't like my Caucasian husband or cause we didn't speak Korean... not impressed. Finally got to try this place for my birthday! It is very spacious inside and a lot more upscale than the other Kunjip location in sc. service was attentive and food came out quick. Snow crab twigim: 5/5 nice and crispy and very tasty! Seafood Tofu soup: 4/5 I had a sip and it was rich and flavorful. Wagyu galbi: 3/5 my daughter loved it but i did not like the taste of the galbi. It was thick cut. I prefer LA galbi. Wagyu seolleongtang: 4/5 good but definitely a lot more bland than mine. Abalone galbi tang: 4/5 very good rice broth. They didn't skimp on the meat. Could have done without the abalone. Banchans were plentiful and yummy! Complimentary cube dessert: interesting dense cube, a bit sweet. Food is pricey $200 compared to the other Kunjip but it's good. Ps if you order to go you can order tteboki. read more
Amazing!! Definitely a bit on the pricier side but I think it's really great for special occasions. I love that they have the hot beverage machine outside for while you wait to get seated. They have the milk coffee, black bean drink, and hot chocolate. I loved the black bean drink as it was so delicious and creamy! The inside has an elevated and upscale aesthetics. There were waiters going around with the banchan dishes for any refills. Each person is required to get their own entree. We got the wagyu galbi, galbi jjim, grilled mackerel, and seafood tofu soup. Service was really good and ambiance is also really nice. Basically no wait on a weekday night This place was between 4-5 stars for me but I think I ordered the wrong thing. We got seafood pancake that was 5/5 - it had a really great texture. We also got the non alcoholic honey drink which was also good but not worth 10 dollars imo I got the tofu soon soup with mushroom, this was a bit of a let down . It was good but nothing special at a higher price point.. I think it needed a bit of salt and for the onions to be cooked more but after i added salt it was p good. Partner got the waygu bibimbap and that was allegedly good and I liked the sauces that came w it. Banchan was definitely elevated but aside from being fancy it tasted p similar to reg banchan it was a fun experience. Very tasty food. The service is top notch, on par with the finest restaurants. Kudos for having the high chair set up already for my toddler even before we got to our table, and also a free rice ball for her which she devoured. The price is very high, but we left satisfied.
