If you love the famous dry fried chicken wings from San Tung in SF, you NEED to try the soy garlic wings here. They're seriously a San Tung rival -- dare I say, maybe even better?! The wings were sooo crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and completely covered in the yummiest sticky, sweet, garlicky sauce. Super flavorful and honestly worth coming here for alone. We also ordered the combination fried rice and beef roll pancake. The fried rice was the perfect complement to everything, and they were SO generous with the protein -- tons of shrimp, chicken, and beef. The beef was really tender too! The beef roll pancake was GINORMOUS and absolutely packed with beef and cilantro. Definitely bigger than we expected and such a good portion for sharing. I have been a Home Eat fan since they opened the Cupertino location! I'm glad they decided to open another location here in Sunnyvale. The food is very consistent and I love their side dishes and their Tidu dry pot! It's also one of the Chinese restaurants that open later. Service is pretty quick and the vibes are nice inside. We ordered classic fried chicken with sweet soy sauce. That was my favorite. It was cooked so well and tasted so good. Hot & sour soup was also very tasty. It was thick a good amount of sour. Eggplant & green beans was the right amount of crispy and also the right amount of garlic. Combo fried rice was my son's favorite. We are fans of Home Eat, having been to the one in Santa Clara and ordered delivery from another one via DD. We were very excited to see this one in downtown Sunnyvale. Ambiance: 4/5 Seevice: 5/5 Food: 5/5 The spot and Sunnyvale actually takes over to existing spaces and convert them to a larger one which provides plenty of seating including booth seating. There are also tables outside. They have several TVs to watch the World Cup but in our opinion the placement of the TVs could be a little better. Overall, a clean place to grab a bite, or in our case pick up takeout. I'm not sure if they are still doing their soft opening, but based on the amount of staff on hand I'm going to assume that they are. A few different people checked in on us to see if we need anything. We grabbed a seat as we waited for our takeout and we were promptly offered water. Wrong, the staff friendly and attentive. For food we went with the General Taos chicken and the orange chicken, with two sides of rice. Great portions, quality chicken, and absolutely delicious! We sometimes get a beef and noodle dish, which is always delicious, but we skipped at this time. We ordered a small hot pot, fried chicken wings, salt and pepper fried fish, and cumin lamb. The fried chicken wings were made with Garlic, Pepper, and Sweet Soy Sauce. The salt and pepper fried fish came with bell peppers and onions, and cumin lamb was served with onions and cilantro. I also liked that they offered free Wi-Fi and had the menu available through a QR code. I was pleased with how you're able to place your order as a group through the website the QR code directed us. We ordered the mapo tofu, combination chow mein, combination fried rice, sesame chicken, eggplant with string beans, and spicy salt and pepper chicken. Everything was delicious! Prices were not too bad. My favorite was the chowmein and the eggplant dish. I wish I was able to take a picture of the food, but my group and I were super hungry. They even surprised us with complimentary orange wedges for dessert, which was super kind of them. I would definitely come back! Just a heads up, we went during their soft opening (huge sign in the front of the restaurant). The women's restroom did not have locks on the restroom stalls, so I had to have my friend hold the door of the stall for me. Fashion Wok is one of the OG Chinese restaurants in Sunnyvale downtown. Over a decade or so, it's become a local favorite for tasty and authentic Chinese food that doesn't break the bank. I've been here a few times and also ordered several times via Doordash. I don't ever remember a time that this restaurant wasn't busy. On a recent visit, I was quite impressed with the service, food, and especially by the way they've organized things inside. For to-go orders, they have ordering tablets right when you enter the place and a screen that tells you about the status of your food. There's a counter for cold dishes that you can choose and order - and they claim they never keep cold food leftovers overnight. In fact, you can get discounts on those items after 9 p.m., which is quite smart. The clincher for me - there's a dedicated sauces counter - soy sauce, vinegar, hot garlic, chili oil, etc. for dine-in customers and it's organized in a way to reduce waste and make things more efficient service-wise. We had our usual suspects - the General Tso's chicken, Egg and Vegetables Chow Mein, Shrimp and Ham Fried Rice, and the Hot and Sour soup. I am a big fan of their H&S soup - probably one of my favorites in all of the Bay Area. The Chow Mein and rice are also great. My only gripe with them is for their fried appetizers (General Tso's, Orange chicken, etc.). They tend to be more chewy and tough than crunchy and succulent. Not sure if that's a problem with the batter or the way they fry it, or if they fry and then refrigerate for a long time. But if they do something about it, I am sure they'll get even better reviews.
