Service is super quick, prices are reasonable especially for the large portion sizes, and I haven't disliked anything. I forgot to take some other photos, but we love the beef chow fun, General Tsao's chicken and honey walnut shrimp. The chicken pieces have a good ratio of meat to breading. All the dishes are flavorful but not over-sauced, as is sometimes the case with these kinds of dishes. read more

We also had the beef wraps, it's pretty big portion with only $9+ (Jan promo), the scallion wraps were really crispy and flavorful. Spicy chicken wings were our best choice, it's all middle part, not the drumlet or wing tips. The cold appetizer is on promo 2 for $5.99, we have the spicy beef and spicy wood ear ( black fungus). We ordered a small hot pot, fried chicken wings, salt and pepper fried fish, and cumin lamb. The fried chicken wings were made with Garlic, Pepper, and Sweet Soy Sauce. Fashion Wok is one of the OG Chinese restaurants in Sunnyvale downtown. Over a decade or so, it's become a local favorite for tasty and authentic Chinese food that doesn't break the bank. I've been here a few times and also ordered several times via Doordash. I don't ever remember a time that this restaurant wasn't busy. On a recent visit, I was quite impressed with the service, food, and especially by the way they've organized things inside. For to-go orders, they have ordering tablets right when you enter the place and a screen that tells you about the status of your food. There's a counter for cold dishes that you can choose and order - and they claim they never keep cold food leftovers overnight. In fact, you can get discounts on those items after 9 p.m., which is quite smart. The clincher for me - there's a dedicated sauces counter - soy sauce, vinegar, hot garlic, chili oil, etc. for dine-in customers and it's organized in a way to reduce waste and make things more efficient service-wise. We had our usual suspects - the General Tso's chicken, Egg and Vegetables Chow Mein, Shrimp and Ham Fried Rice, and the Hot and Sour soup. I am a big fan of their H&S soup - probably one of my favorites in all of the Bay Area. The Chow Mein and rice are also great. My only gripe with them is for their fried appetizers (General Tso's, Orange chicken, etc.). They tend to be more chewy and tough than crunchy and succulent. Not sure if that's a problem with the batter or the way they fry it, or if they fry and then refrigerate for a long time. But if they do something about it, I am sure they'll get even better reviews. I thought their ads were expired but they have the same specials this year that they had last year in the same month. Just be aware their dishes can be a bit salty and can be spicy, look out for the on the menu. Our adult kids love more flavor. We did serve ourselves before I remembered to take our latest picture. We order at least one dish for every person and sometimes more. Leftovers are great with fried rice the next day. The salted egg yolk chicken wings are great. This is the third location I visited. I have visited the Foster City one which now has closed( I missed it as I visited it regularly before). The second one called Home eat at Cupertino and I came to this location after watching movie at AMC. This restaurant has many seating including many round table which usually for big group of people. It was pretty busy when we arrived but we got seated right away. You ordered using qr code. We order the secret lamb pot. I like the restaurant as they have many side dishes which I believe right now it is 6.99 for 2 items. I remember they allowed 3 items couple years ago. You can order it directly by pointing out the dishes at the display. I like the pork stomach and beef. The cucumber is also yummy. Our main order was ready pretty quickly. Most of the time I order the secret land as they are yummy but this time it is a bit dissapointed. The lamb seems was boiled separately so it doesn't have the taste of the soup. It is very dry, tough and overcooked. This was different than when I had it before at other Fashion wok restaurant. The good thing is the utensil, mug and plate are at the table and you can just grab it instead of have to ask. You can also get the sauce in individual plastic package on the side. I had a very disappointing experience at Home Eat in Sunnyvale. The server was extremely rude and unprofessional throughout our visit. We specifically requested that our food be made mild because we were dining with young children who cannot handle spicy food. We also asked for tofu to be substituted for the meat in one of our dishes. Unfortunately, the food arrived very spicy and contained only tofu with no vegetables. When we brought the issue to the server's attention, instead of acknowledging the mistake, she insisted that we had placed the order incorrectly. She then took the dish back to the kitchen and returned it a short time later. The dish still had the same spice level and now contained very little to no vegetables, making it clear that the problem had not been properly addressed. Mistakes can happen at any restaurant, but what made this experience especially frustrating was the lack of accountability and poor customer service. We came expecting a family-friendly meal and left feeling disappointed and unheard. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Very good food, and surprisingly good prices as well. We've walked past Fashion Wok innumerable times since moving to Sunnyvale nearly 20 years ago, but never had occasion to stop in. I'm not sure why that's the case since we do get a lot of Chinese food. Recently we decided to try something new and a Yelp search turned this place up, with unexpectedly high ratings - higher than the places from which we usually get takeout. As a couple of us have been sick, we wanted to go for more comfort foods rather than trying some of their specialties. We noted their selection of hot pot dishes, but these don't usually do well as a to-go order. Their menu is quite extensive, but as compared to other restaurants they seemed to have a selection of unique flavors that we haven't seen elsewhere. Those will have to wait for another day. That evening we dined on: Hot and sour soup - a lot of restaurants don't do this very well, and unfortunately we weren't a big fan of this. It was darker than usual (too much soy) and wasn't very hot or sour either. As is often the case, there was a fair amount of cornstarch used to thicken the broth, and we would have preferred a lighter hand on this. Combination chow mein - excellent consistency to the noodles, not too soft as is often the case. There was a nice amount of shrimp and protein for the size of the dish, but it could have used some more vegetables. Maybe just a bit on the oily side, but not excessively so. Honey walnut shrimp - nice breading, not too heavy on the mayonnaise, shrimp was perfectly cooked and not rubbery. Salt and pepper fish fillets - very well executed, stayed crispy even after the drive home. Good flavor with a mix of seasonings, and not too salty either. We were surprised to find a small carton of red bean sesame balls marked free. This was a lovely gesture and we did enjoy them. As mentioned above, the prices were quite moderate compared to other places. The honey walnut shrimp was $16; usually this comes in around $20 at other places. The chow mein was also under $13. The entree sizes are perhaps a little smaller than other places, but our order still fed a group of four adults with leftovers in the end. read more

What we got: beef scalion roll (5/5) -- aromatic, crispy, and juicy without being greasy beef chow fun (3/5) -- they use red onion, cabbage, and other ingredients that I typically do not associate with chow fun which we liked a lot. It would have been better if the chow fun noodles themselves were less soggy and had more wok hay.
