Ownership & cooks have changed a time or two, but I believe the original owner & cook has returned & it's just like it always was. Friendly staff, clean buffet (on Sunday only for now). À la carte orders on weekdays will get you the freshest, most flavorful option. If you have an axe to grind in complaining, you'll always find fault. The food might taste good be we wouldn't know. We walked in and we were seated then when we go to get the food, we saw a very sparse selection to choose from. There was only one row of food and there wasn't much of it. So we decided to leave after paying for our canned drinks. We went to a different restaurant that had a better selection. I just moved back to Lufkin & am looking forward to dining at this buffet often! Best Chinese restuarant I've been to in Texas! I haven't found anything on their buffet I haven't enjoyed! Every time I've been dining the buffet is kept hot & fresh. When the place is slow the cooks make smaller portions & when business picks up the size of buffet servings being brought out do too. I particularly love their coconut shrimp! The wait staff is always friendly & attentive. The Owner has also always been on duty whenever I've been there so maybe her attention to detail is what keeps the quality of food, service & cleanliness so high! "Come hungry, leave happy!" is their motto and I plan to follow it as soon as. They're open tomorrow! read more

This is the cleanest, nicest and best place for Chinese food in Lufkin. The egg rolls are delicious and my hubby and I have enjoyed every meal all of the 3 times we have been there since moving to Lufkin. The prices are amazing and the portions are huge ! read more

I was really satisfied with the buffet, I've only been there one time but my first time was an excellent experience. I will be going back to this restaurant. The buffet was fresh, and they were busy for lunch. I don't usually like buffets, but these persuade me that there is hope for buffets. The restaurant was pretty clean, it looks like it needs a remodel. The bathrooms were OK, and again they need to be remodeled. I've been going to Hunan's since I was a very little girl! They have, in my opinion, the best Chinese food in Lufkin. The owner and his wife are wonderful people, and are always kind to everyone. We have been satisfied patrons of this business for 25 or more years been treated like family by the owners and even started bringing our grandsons to share in one of our favorite restaurants. The atmosphere has changed in the last few years but in the last few months it has gotten so horrible. The food is excellent and the wait staff are sweet and helpful it's the owners especially the woman is always agitated and in a hurry speaks in a rude condescending manner and the last time we went in was following us to the buffet asking what we were going to eat so they wouldn't have to cook more even though there were ppl coming in behind us. They have changed the inside hours to only 3 or 4 a day and then you must go thru the drive thru which is fine but we were in an hour before they closed down the buffet at 2 and felt harassed. I have spoke with othere as well who feel the same. If they are not happy running this restaurant they should just close and be done. As for myself and my family we will be enjoying fine food and happy friendly owners at Chens. read more
