    Inside the egg roll
    Greg B.

Egg rolls are my favorite item to order from Asian restaurants and unfortunately I've never been impressed by the one Hung Hao sells, so I've only ordered from Hung Hao a handful of times over the nine years I've lived in Germantown. It's been a while since I've tried it and I've never left a review, so I took another chance and ordered the Appetizer Combination For One (a pork and shrimp egg roll, one sweet and sour shrimp, one sweet and sour chicken, a crab rangoon, and marinated beef on a stick). All of the items, except the marinated beef on a stick, are fried and the breading retains more grease than I'd prefer. The sweet and sour shrimp doesn't have much going for it flavor wise outside of the greasy breading, but the sweet and sour chicken does with seemingly a little brine to the chicken. The crab rangoon is decent sized, but the mixture inside is more runny than firm and lacking on the (imitation) crab. The egg roll, which contains both pork and shrimp, is heavily coated in the same greasy breading as the sweet and sour shrimp/chicken. As I've experienced in the past, the inside has a slight mushy texture and the flavor has a grocery store freezer section quality. It may be well portioned, but I'd rather have quality over quantity in my egg rolls and their doesn't cut it. The star of the appetizer combination was the marinated beef on a stick. With three of the other four items being disappointing (the sweet and sour chicken was ok), I was glad to have at least one item be worth my time and money. In a pinch I'd get the marinated beef on a stick again, but I'd rather go elsewhere for entire meals that I enjoy more than just one item in the appetizer section.

This place has been a bookmark for awhile now and I finally stopped over for lunch, still trying to support local restaurants as much as I can. I was told that I have to try the egg rolls because they are pretty good and that's why I have it bookmarked so I ordered the egg rolls and the triple flower beef for takeout, you can pay in person during the virus so no giving your credit card to a stranger over the phone. The egg roll is shrimp and pork and they were way above average and really good with a great crispy shell and the hint of peanut sauce, I wish they had a bigger peanut flavor. If this place was closer it would be my go to egg roll place because I like that peanut flavor. The triple flower beef was also tasty with tender flank steak, broccoli, pea pods, carrots and straw mushrooms in chefs sauce. The veggies were cooked perfect with some crunch left in them and the flank steak was just right and not skimpy like some places.

I've been to Harvey Moy's once before, but it was years before I started using Yelp, so they were due for a visit. I ordered two chicken egg rolls to go. The egg rolls from Harvey Moy's score big points with me for being made in house and not tasting like they're from a grocery store freezer. They're also substantially sized compared to egg rolls from most other restaurants. That said, because of their size they weren't hot in the middle, maybe only warm at best. The egg roll filling also had bit a sweetness to it and that's not something I'm necessarily looking for in egg rolls. I thought the filling could have used another vegetable or two just to break up what was primarily chicken and cabbage.

We were going to be in Brillion and I knew I'd be busy unloading groceries and definitely not in the mood to cook. My call was answered immediately by a pleasant easy-to-understand young person. While rather disappointed to learn that Egg Fu Yung is no longer available (not ordered often enough, alas), we ordered our standby meal of Crab Rangoon, Sweet & Sour Pork, and Moo Goo Gai Pan. Our order was ready before 15 minutes elapsed and Hunan accepts credit cards. The crab rangoons were right on top of the carefully packaged bag so we had to try those immediately. Fantastic! Full of the cream cheese mixture and crispy, notably NOT overcooked to the point of being almost burned. While no one, including Hunan, seems to include the green pepper and pineapple chinks once a part of the sweet sour sauce, the deep fried park was notable for its size, flavor, and the delicate batter. So often one must look for the meat inside of heavy breading. It was excellent and the portion generous and reasonably priced. My Moo Goo Gai Pan was superb: a generous portion of chicken, pea pods, carrots, white onions, and superlatively fresh quartered mushrooms in an outstandingly flavorful white sauce. I highly recommend Hunan's of Brillion, Wisconsin. Excellent food, friendly staff, generous portions, and reasonable prices are an unbeatable combination. Please note that it is a carryout/takeout restaurant only. Brillion is a nice little city with stores and parks that seem to be worth exploring so perhaps someday we'll find a nearby park in which to eat our wonderful Chinese meal.

The restaurant is in a tucked away strip mall and is modest in size and decor. The strip mall also contains hidden treasures like a Chinese bakery/BBQ and an Asian store. We went early on a Saturday evening with friends. The service was excellent, although with some staff there were language hurdles. No matter - everyone made it work and we were left with an abundance of amazing food at a reasonable price. Wine and beers are served, as well as smoothies and other non-alcoholic drinks. BF ordered crab rangoon as a starter, which was good. He liked it more than I did, but it was nice and crispy. I just didn't think it compared to other dishes. My vegetable egg roll was very good as well, but nothing terribly unique. He went bold on the entree and ordered the pork intestine and blood cake dish. He really enjoyed it and said it was quite spicy. The portions are generous and he did bring a lot home. I ordered the homestyle tofu, which normally has pork. I got it without to make it vegetarian friendly. The textures were very good and the sauce was intensely flavorful, but mild. I also ordered a supplementary dish of braised mushrooms and Shanghai greens. Everyone at the table enjoyed this dish, particularly the greens, which are a variety of bok choy, called pac choy. The mushrooms were wonderful, with the texture of wood ears. I also had plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. Our friends ordered the Szechuan spicy pork dumplings and they got rave reviews. My cousin did say they were not overly spicy. She went on to order the sizzling black pepper beef, which she said was good, but not nearly as unique or deeply flavored as the other dishes. Her husband ordered the pork intestine with clear noodles, which he enjoyed but said was extremely spicy. He did leave a lot of sauce behind since it was so hot. He also had the ox tendon and maw in spicy sauce, which came with chopped peanuts on top. He seemed really pleased with that dish. We agreed that we would happily go back to explore the menu more. Everything was excellent and I thought the prices were generally quite reasonable, especially for the quantity of food. I do wish the menu had more descriptive text, so I could familiarize myself with the dishes. The choices are many and overwhelming and the menu is huge. I'd also love to see a symbol for vegetarian options since it's very hard to know otherwise and many of the vegetable dishes included pork or other meat. As we left the restaurant was getting increasingly busy with people waiting by the door for seats. This is a popular place for good reason.

The Spicy Pork Dumplings have become my go-to appetizer, and the fried spring rolls are also very good. On a most recent visit, we ordered hot pot. Our server brought us the sheet to make our selections. You can choose from mild broth, spicy broth, or half tray of each. The spicy is pretty hot with lots of red chili peppers soaking in it, so I scooped out the chili peppers to keep rhe flavor but lessen the impact on my palate. For 2 guests, I recommend choosing 3 items from the list, maybe 2 protein and one veggie or 2 veggie and one protein to start. You can order more if you finish and need more. This is in addition to the two appetizers you will choose, which is included with rhe hot pot dinner. It's a great value! Sze Chuan remains on my short list of go-to's for Chinese dining, and I look forward to my next visit, whenever that may be.

The food was bland, tasted like it had been microwaved, and seemed outdated. I couldn't even eat it. When I asked for a refund for the beef and broccoli, the owner did refund me, but then charged me more than what was originally on the receipt. When I went to the counter to question the overcharge, she became argumentative, rolled her eyes, called me picky, and denied the charges. I ended up paying $40 just to get out of the situation. It didn't stop there. She followed me out to the parking lot, ripped my phone out of my hand, and demanded that I sign a receipt. All in front of my kids. This behavior is completely unacceptable. Between the poor-quality food, the unprofessional treatment, and how unsafe the situation felt, I strongly urge others to avoid this place at all costs. The egg roll was weird because it was hot on the inside but the shell was not crispy and kind of soggy and average with a mushy filling. The beef with broccoli came in a thick brown gravy and once again Americanized with no Asian flavors and just blah. I did like how they put a little beef on top and the rest of the container was all solid broccoli to the bottom for $15.
