This is a really nice place. I like the atmosphere. It's very clean and quiet. The baristas are super nice and make the best lattes. Today one of them made a hot chocolate for my daughter and designed a teddy bear on it. That was amazing and thank you so much. The ONLY thing I would comment on is that they have gnats or fruit flies that are on the pastries. The two times we have been there, we observed them both time. It's not a good look when the barista goes to take a pastry and a bunch of gnats fly off and have a party in the air. Also, please get some marshmallows! read more

This place is awesome! Unassuming on the outside but upon entering the experience a bit magical with their coffee and overall ambience. The inside is actually cute with a polished standing wood table, purposeful station for condiments, and a vintage looking espresso maker in place for the barista to use. They have a particular chocolate, citrus flavored blend that smells delicious and tastes even better in your mug. Their prices are fair and they offer desserts ranging from zucchini, carrot flavored muffins to freshly cut blueberry muffins. Highly recommend this place and would've given it five stars if it had more variety and places to sit. read more

A very rich and pleasing coffee . The staff pride themselves on making specialty coffees and tea products. They are efficient and friendly and produce orders in a timely manner. The atmosphere provides "comfortable for the eyes lighting" and the windows keep enough natural yet tinted light.I certainly appreciate the amount of space they offer and the varying table and chair heights. The treats are standard and the coffee is ok but these Turkish coffee shop chains seem very suspicious to me now that the Mayor Adam's scandal has hit the news. Walked in with small child. Bought about $20 worth of tea with tip. My child needed to use the bathroom and somebody was in there for about 30 minutes. Under the circumstances, I asked if they could make an exception and let my small child use the employee bathroom. They said they couldn't because the manager would see them on camera. I asked them to call the manager. They did, which I appreciated. I then had to follow up to find out how the conversation with the manager went at which point the male employee I was talking to you simply shrugged and said sorry there's nothing we can do. Ultimately, I don't fault him, but I definitely fault the manager and will no longer patronize this place in the neighborhood. 10 minute layer update: walked down the block to a proper local establishment Burgers & Beer and even though we were holding Hungry Ghost cups in our hands, they invited us right in for the sole purpose of letting my little girl use the bathroom. If you get anything other than an espresso drink do not expect a lot of flavor. We got a latte and a cortado a few days ago and they were good. Went back today and am now sad. The iced drinks we got feel very watered down. When ordering the staff are oddly quiet creating a strange atmosphere and they are oddly missing some syrups and drinks such as lemonade that you'd expect a coffee shop to have. read more

This is a big space for a coffee shop, but this latest outpost of Hungry Ghost makes the most of it. Clean, minimalist, almost Scandinavian interior is crisp yet welcoming. Nicely organized with small tables and stools for laptop usage and larger tables--and a couple of cozy chairs in the back--for more traditional seating. They feature Stumptown coffee--always an excellent choice. My cortado was well made and my friend though her daily brew was tasty and fresh. They have a decent-sized menu as well. I was initially disappointed they were sold out of the King David breakfast tacos, but that turned out to be fortuitous--the egg and cheese sandwich was super tasty. I initially thought $7 seemed a bit pricey for that, but it comes with a large side salad of mixed greens in a tart lemon vinaigrette. It was a delicious little late breakfast/early lunch. They also have a pretty large assortment of cookies, pastries, etc. My friend had a pistachio cardamom loaf, which she enjoyed. I'm always up for a new coffee shop in general. Seems like a decent work from home alternative. Café has a sparse but pleasant modern mid-century vibe. In the handful of times I've visited the counter staff had a weird and slightly prickly vibe and often do not know how to answer basic questions about the products they sell. I bought a pumpkin loaf and a drink, which were good, and the woman who helped me at the register was friendly. I sat down and tried to get on the internet, but it wouldn't work. I went back to the register to ask for help. The friendly woman was occupied making drinks, but a rude man who worked there was standing around. I asked if he could help because I couldn't get the wifi to work on my computer, and he just shrugged and said "it works fine on my phone." I tried for about 10 more minutes on my own but I couldn't get it to work on my computer or on my phone either. I went up to the register one more time. I said I need to find a place to sit and work every Wednesday for the next 9 months, and I'd really like to do that here, but I can't come here if I don't have working internet. And I asked nicely one more time if he could please try to help me. The rude man just kind of shrugged and was like "I don't know how." So I left. I know he's not an IT person, but it would have made a difference if he had at least acted like he cared even one little bit. Luckily I found a Starbucks a few doors down (which is where I am now) and their internet works fine. I guess I'll be coming here on Wednesdays instead. read more

Was waking around the neighborhood and noticed this coffee shop and decided to pop in. They serve stumptown coffee so I was already excited to try it out! The coffee shop is very spacious- plenty of room to sit and enjoy a cup solo or with friends or to come and do some work. They have a great selection of baked goods as well as some hot food items as well. I went with their chocolate croissant- flaky, buttery and chocolaty deliciousness ! A great cafe! I came for a meeting with someone who's COVID nervous, and we took advantage of their outdoor space. They have lots of little tables off to the side. I ordered a large tea and they were able to combine flavors for me (can only do this with a large). I ended up liking the space so much that when the meeting ended I switched to their indoor space and did some work. They have wifi! And it's a large space so there's plenty of seating (though you might have to share). I had a chamomile + ginger tea, a strawberry hibiscus tea, and a chocolate croissant. The inside is really cute - I wish I could've visited pre-COVID when they allowed indoor seating because the inside is so nice and simple. I don't sit in a cafe nursing my cup of coffee for an hour or two taking up space. The pastries are good enough, but, maybe it's just me, but I very much dislike Stump Town coffee. This used to be my favorite coffee shop, and in general their actual coffee is pretty good -- however, the new-ish middle aged guy who works the register is a disaster. Whenever he takes my order, not only do I wait forever, but he never accurately communicates my order to the baristas. Something is always missing or incorrect, and it's always his fault. Before he started working there, I had only positive experiences with this shop. Now, I don't want to go back because I'm sick of having my order taken incorrectly by someone with no customer service skills. read more
