Came in my mom and daughter for the Sunday buffet. Asked to get one adult and one child buffet and as we were paying the manager came up and very rudely said "3 of you come in, 3 of you pay." If this is your business practice, how about not be a jerk about it? Do you regularly talk to your customers that rudely? I've been frequenting this place since 2016. I am local now. The owners are very hard working and kind. They're one of the only restaurants that has been consistently open all year long. They don't close when it's slow to go clamming or fishing. They have provided myself and my family with delicious hot food and friendly service since day one. I've witnessed over these last 5 years patrons either local or tourists use foul language, give attitude, bad mouth them on reviews because of how long it took to get their food or seating or complain about every single little thing they could unfairly. Every employee has always been working their tail off to get customers their meals. I will always support this restaurant and encourage people to give them their business. Their clam chowder is amazing it's my favorite on the peninsula. Yesterday I tried the grilled chicken salad for the first time and it was awesome! They had to shut down early because again they were overwhelmed because most of the spots near them were closed. It's been a few years since in Long Beach. Last time here this place was called Jack's. I ordered the big daddy. It was okay. The bun was nicely toasted though! The burger wasn't very juicy. I think I got one strip of bacon on it. The place was busy! My burger only took about 10 mins. Very reasonable. Fries were fine too. But you needed to add your own salt. I think it will be quite some time before I make my rounds back to this place. There are a lot of other options, even next door. read more

Cook refuses to wear a mask, despite the abundant "Wear a mask" and "We respect 6 feet" signs everywhere in and outside the restaurant. Once I noticed this, I asked for a refund. I had to wait 7 minutes till the owner came down from somewhere else. When I said I don't understand why you wouldn't protect the customers from your cook, he said "I don't want to see you here again." I said, "Why would I want to come back here, it's not safe?!" He said, "Where are you from?" I said "Why is that relevant?" (and I am a local). He just snorted, threw the credit refund receipt at me, and said "Get out!" I felt humiliated and it was demeaning. Owner is a creep! Took some out of town friends to town to spend the day. Diverse group of 13 of us. Decided to go to Hungry Harbor as they have space for families even knowing the food is just ok, having been there myself multiple times over the years). In line to order with a friend and our kids. My friend is wearing a backpack with her kids water bottle is attached. The woman at the front desk tells her she's not allowed to bring "outside drinks" inside. We cant bring our own water bottle in? This felt very odd. Then the owner comes out from the back (almost as if he was cued") and is staring/glaring at one of our 10yo daughters to the point I was uncomfortable. My 11yo daughter tells me mom that man was just STARING at me and my friend. The hairs on my neck were standing up. The two girls being glared at are both mixed race. Coincidence? Maybe. But first thing we did was left (and ate AWESOME fish n chips at a food truck across the street - highly recommend) and 2nd thing I did was come here to read the reviews. To my "surprise" this seems to be a theme. People of color (see reviews for 2 Latino males and another from a black man with very similar experiences) being called out for bringing in "outside food" and then treated poorly by the owner. Hmmm. The food is average at best and the owner doesn't treat all customers with respect. If I were you I'd walk the 50 feet either direction and give another small business your money for better food and service. I will never walk foot in this place again. read more

If not busy this place is fast. The food is not special. Breakfast is typical breakfast. The other dishes consist of a lot of processed foods. Frozen chicken patties and watery salty sandwich meat. Stopped by on a Sunday, the store hours posted said they opened at 9AM...we stopped by at 11:31. Apparently they were switching over from breakfast to lunch or whatever....they started lunch service at 11:30 I presume....but apparently weren't quite ready to serve any customers yet.....as we were browsing the menu, the manager I presume approached us and told us we needed to wait outside until they were ready for us. I've never been treated so rudely. Apparently because the town is a smaller, tourist attraction, they probably don't get too many repeat customers.....so providing a customer a good experience is NOT on the menu. They treat their customers like the customers need them more than they need their customers.....no thanks. Oh, and by the way, I've had their food before, it's mediocre at best.....there are much better places to eat in Seaside and Astoria.....save yourself from a bad experience and go somewhere else!!! read more

We were really excited when they started having brunch on Sunday's, but after the first brunch visit, it has gone downhill in hospitality. First time, the owner/staff was happy and chatty.. now after going in at least 10 times, it's now unbearable. They are nothing short of rude.. and it's not like they are overly busy. A bratwurst which came with cold sauerkraut, cold relish and cold onions all packaged in plastic ramakens with lids. My milkshake was good. There was a tiny bit of overly cooked fries that came on the side. By the time I took three bites of my dog, it was cold. Our entire dinner was like a free picnic lunch at a charity event. Dinner arrived with plastic forks but no spoons and no knives. I only write this as a warning to others. There's plenty of places to eat. Search for something better. Props go to the kid at the register though for taking the time (despite the line) to explain dietary restrictions on the menu for my diabetic mother. First off, the food is waaay overpriced for what it is. My guy ordered the fish and chips (I believe it was around $11) and the fish was not good, the French fries were subpar, and the tartar sauce was terrible! He was really unhappy. We ordered a cup of clam chowder to split, and I had a hard time finding any clams. I ordered the Jalapeño burger, and it was just Meh... I don't think the jalapeño's were grilled, they tasted pickled. The burger was dry and and the cheese was not good. None of the five of us would come back, and we all agreed we felt cheated. Between my BF and I, are bill came to $31.00, what a waste! I could see the charm on this place if you have kids covered in sand and want a place were you can order a bunch of fried food and ice cream and not worry about making a mess or wearing shoes. The worst fish and chips I have ever had!!!! We were walking past the restaurant and from the outside it looked like a pretty decent place. Plus, they had tables outside that we could sit at with a dog. My girlfriend at the time and I each order the fish and chips. Besides thinking the total bill came to more than what we expected it should be, the food was terrible. And just so I'm being clear, we ordered fish that gets battered and fried, so you would think it wouldn't be too difficult to cook right. Plus this is an ocean side town. Places like this are expected to have better than average fish, not below average. The fish was battered, and did have fish inside the batter. But it was also soaked with grease and difficult to describe. But I can say neither of us ate more than one piece, and both of us agreed it was the worst fish ever. One of the better priced places to grab a bite to eat in the area. Really marketed toward the tourist crowd, so lots of burgers, fried things, and sweets are the main draw. We have had no real complaints here as a rule. What you see is what you get. Would like to see more of a personal touch and an increase in quality. It would be nice to deviate from the pre-fab, frozen everything offerings. They offer a breakfast buffet (weekends only?? I think??) and Mexican Food night on Thursdays. Lots to choose from, so a good place to go when you are not sure what you are hungry for and don't want to sell the first born to afford it. Great shakes and malts!!! Family owned and operated by some really nice folks. Service is always friendly for us. It can get a little crazy here during the tourist rush, so be forewarned. During the Christmas season, they put up a large and impressive holiday village display if you are so inclined to enjoy those kinds of things. They had fresh fruit+ when we got in they were already running out of some of the main food items. But did offer a good selection, there was bacon, breakfast sausage, chicken sausage, biscuits and gravy, cornbeef hash, eggs benedict, hashbrowns french toast, mini cinnabuns, danishes, juice, milk, and coffee. We got to town after a 6.5 hour drive and picked this place to have dinner. They were very accommodating for our group of six adults and one baby, even opening up the back room - which was closed for the evening - so we could sit at a larger table. The burgers were wonderful and well prepared. I had the bacon cheeseburger. I substituted the cheesy curly fries with my burger and they were delicious. Their regular fries were also quite good; thick cut and generous portions. I samples some of the chicken also and it was well seasoned and crispy. A group of my friends and I decided to have dinner at Hungry Harbor at the end of our day beach trip. It was a nice, open diner with plenty of seating for the patrons. The environment is very much so like a classic diner or burger joint. You ordered at the counter, and then the food was brought out to you. The employee that helped us was kind and helpful, even though he looked a little unkept and dirty. The food was brought out to our group of six within about 10 min! I ordered the 1/3 lb Bacon Cheddar Burger (8.99) and a basket of curly fries. The basket of fries was Totally full and I'm glad I had a group with me because there is no way I could have eaten it all myself (the burger came with fries too)! The burger was nearly cooked to perfection (very slight pink through the middle), but unfortunately, the burger was dripping grease (only 4 stars). When I picked it up, the bottom bun was already pretty soaked, the it continued to drip as I ate it. The fries were well salted and fresh. Overall, if you are looking for a casual lunch or dinner in a diner-like environment, this is a great place. The portions seemed proportional to the pricing, and the service was quick!
