We had the buffet which reminded me a bit like cece's but a little better. The salad bar and soup bar was awesome and the folks were friendly. Is this artisan crafted pizza ? I'm from Michigan. I have been getting steak and mushroom subs from here and each time they keep getting better and better! I will say without a doubt they are way better than ones back home. The people who cook them deserve a raise. I went tonight, 7/30/2026, at about ten thirty, half an hour before closing, and they were absolutely delicious, and they could be sold at a fancy restaurant. Ordered from this location twice. It's in a smaller, quieter location than the surrounding locations. They have an all you can eat buffet that is very reasonable. Pizza came out hot and fresh both times. Don't forget to ask for their free flavored crust (all HH locations usually ask you anyway). Garlic and Herb is my favorite! The staff here is nice and patient. I watched several polite interactions between the staff and the customers while waiting for my order. read more

I truly only have one place that I will stop in Palmetto because it is close to home and that is hungry Howies. I don't go in often but I go in enough to be known. On November 17 at approximately 8:15 8:30 PM I stopped in to have a beer or two on the way home and maybe grab some pizza bite things. I sat on the corner of the bar and there was a young man sitting on the other corner and we said hello and he was on his way out the door to my left three seats down. There was a gentleman that I've seen before and I've had conversation before. I know the conversation we had was about salt and that he could not eat salt and I believe it's because he has a very bad heart and takes medicine. However, he was screaming something about salt and eminency. Not sure where that come from. But he proceeded to yell and scream absurdities Very vulgar, very bad names, especially towards a female. He threw napkins at me. I went on live video and I have a live video clip of a part of his antics. He started to leave. Then came back. I guess he realized he had beer left. He drank it down, yelled some more at me. And he left. The young bartender, was of no use and of no help. As a matter of fact, all she really had to say is she is not a babysitter. I have 44 years in the bar restaurant management Five star special events experience. Who is working behind the bar on any given shift is not experienced very much not experienced in bartending. They're very good at making drinks and that is the easy part. But so much more comes carrying that license. Epic fail on all levels. I did not feel safe. Two males at the bar did not help. The bartender coddled him and did not even try to help me. Again she's not a babysitter lol I may go back in just for principal, but I can't guarantee that. PS I will say Vicky in the dining room is amazing. She's the only little good spot of the whole place. And you shut down and made everybody think the bar was shutting down only to ha ha clean house. This was super yummy! We ordered a three meat pizza, cheese bread and chocolate chip pizza. The pizza was savory and cheesy which the pizza sauce having a small hint of sweetness. The cheese bread was nice and garlicky with an amazing cheese pull, the flavor was enhanced when you dipped it in the garlic butter! The chocolate pizza was sweet and comforting, I recommend putting some ice cream on top! I love this place I would recommend to everyone who asks! read more

Eat here at your own Risk! This was THE absolute worst as far as a pandemic response resturant . First, no sinage urging customers to wear masks when moving about the resturant. This is a buffet afterall. You'd think they would be extra conscious. They weren't. Most customers went to the buffet without masks. Additionally, the CHILDREN that were there, especially the ones eye level to the food were maskless AND TOUCHING THE FOOD, PIZZA, SALAD ALL OF it with BARE HANDS and eating right off the pizza and salad bar. I was mortified. I'm not exaggerating. White ones, Latinx ones, Black ones. Eye level kids ALL no masks breathing directly on the food. There were a lot of kids there last night. None of their parents kept them from touching the food or put masks on. I sat mouth agape at what I was seeing. NEVER have I seen this even in normal times. Staff saw them all too. One kid ate a cheesey breadstick and put it back. This is when I alerted the server. He just shrugged. He wiped several tables with no disinfectant spray or rinsing the rag, so I know he didn't care. Anyone with compmised immunity needs to avoid this place at all costs. The only reason I even ate there is I ordered a specialty pizza and ran up there to grab it before any customers even got near it. Never going to this location gain! Palmetto. read more

This place is pretty consistent with good service and good pizza. We came close to the buffet ending so pizza wasn't readily available, but the staff made some fresh pretty quickly...all ten minutes before the buffet closed. Nice. Our server, James, was courteous and very attentive to our table and the large groups that came in after us. He even chatted it up with some folks from the community. Nice. Overall, a pretty good visit. I typically come here anytime I'm in the Tampa area and will continue to do so. read more

Pizza buffet, with salad bar and soup. It was reasonably priced, and had a good layout of lines in the establishment. Salad bar was fresh, and they kept the pizza's coming. Everything was stocked well when i went in for seconds. The homemade pizza rolls were to die for. And the plain cheese slices were also very nice. My dad had a bowl of the chicken noodle soup and said it was pretty tastey. They had a couple dessert pizza's to choose from but i went with the fresh cinnamon rolls and they were very good. I've been going to Hungry Howie's in Palmetto for probably 20 years or more and I will NEVER go back there again.. or at least not until a new owner/manager straightens that disaster up. I went in for lunch today and I wanted to order the steak sub with fries. The server informed me that they no longer serve fries! So I asked why and she said the owner says the oil is too expensive.. so now you can't get fries, fried mushrooms, fried mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, etc. That was the first blow.. actually the second because two times ago I got the best fries I've ever had, and the next time I went the fries were awful, so I asked and the server said the owner/manager changed the kind of fries they offer. So back to my steak sub... I understand that it takes a little longer when ordering a sub instead of pizza and usually that's about 15 minutes. I kept waiting and waiting and WAITING.. finally I asked the server and she said she'd asked several times and still nothing. So I finally told her to cancel the order because my son was already finished with his lunch! The place was not unusually busy and it was about 1:45 in the afternoon.. no excuses. I also noticed that there were 3 drinks that were unavailable at the drink station. So in the past 6 weeks Hungry Howie's in Palmetto has taken a nose dive and if they keep going at that pace the place is going to go under, in my opinion. Straighten up owner/manager!! read more

Super disappointed in the service at this location. I ordered $41.90 of food items through the mobile app. After selecting submit, I received a "connection" error 500 and no other information. I resent the order and received the same "connection" error. I entered a third time with the same out come. I entered a fourth time, thinking it was possibly a connection error on my side and received a declined message for NSF. WHAT?!?! I had more than $140 in my account. I check my bank account and I have THREE charges for $41.90 Hungry Howies. Long story short the management refused to refund my money because they never received the order and I had no confirmation number; even though I physically SHOWED them where it was charged to my account THREE TIMES. Resolution...Here's a phone number you can call tomorrow to see if they can give you a refund. Tomorrow is a HOLIDAY. Now I have no money, no food, and zero confidence in this establishment. Adequate salad bar. Every variety of pizza that we tried was pathetic. The cheese bread was okay. We were booted out of the restaurant, into the bar when they closed the restaurant at 9:00pm and when we went into the bar every seat in the bar was a tall chair which my disabled wife can't sit at, so they brought her a short chair in a sea of tall chairs.
