Enjoyed an amazing dinner here recently with my father and brother. We arrived around 7 on a Saturday evening, it was pretty busy, but we only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated, the waiter was very attentive throughout the entire meal. To start our meal, we ordered a a plate of the calamari, which were ok, maybe a bit more rubbery than I like. Side salads were brought out after, which were ok, nothing great, very basic. They also brought some tasty, warm garlic rolls/knotts with the salads. For my entree, I had a tough time deciding, there were a lot of good options on the menu, but I was really interested by the Cacio E Pepe, but it is only available as a meal for (2) which seemed a bit excessive. My brother and I decided to get it together, along with a side of sausage to add some protein to the meal. I've seen videos of pasta made with in a cheese wheel online several times, and have wanted to try it, but this has been my first opportunity. They bring out the cooked pasta, and prepare it in the cheese wheel at the table, which was an added bit of fun for the dining experience. overall it was a fun and tasty meal. Got to try something I've been wanting to for a while. One warning, the restaurant is basically just one large room, so it can get a bit loud, depending on the crowd and how busy it is. But I'd go back, and would recommend this spot to other as well. read more

We went with 2 - 8" pizzas instead of pasta dishes and we were both pleased with what we ordered. The service was excellent and we would consider going back. It's pretty far from where we live and we had to pass a lot of red lights to get there, almost an hour drive. Aside from that, we considered the prices pretty high but you get what you pay for. read more

Food: We went there for pizza and found out they had much more! The table garlic knots were a nice treat and delicious. The zucchini fries were also great with a unique Italian dressing sort of dipping sauce, not your traditional marinara/ranch. We did ask for marinara which there was an up charge, but we didn't mind after we realized how good it was. So we got a pizza and two additional side dishes: chicken Marsala and chicken parm. The sister really enjoyed the chicken Marsala so it was really good and my wife and I split the chicken parm. The portion was great and it was cooked well. The pasta sauce was plenty and good but the spaghetti wasn't anything to brag about. The pizza ... was good. Not fantastic but not bad. The little pepperonis were a good touch. I love the little ones. I'd try the pizza again but not rushing back. Service: The service was very attentive. It was super busy when we went there, having had to wait for a seat briefly, but the server was on it. He made sure we got our drinks quickly and our food order in before a party of 60. Very thoughtful of him to make sure that happened, service first attitude. Thank you! Ambiance: In the words of my children, there was a live grandparents band playing some Italian jazz style music with many featured instruments and players. Our family visited Scarpinos in Bradenton last week for dinner, and we had a fantastic experience! The ambience in the restaurant was nice and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Our server was excellent, going so far as to check on us regularly and even to box up our food at the end of the meal. The food, however, was the best part! It tasted very authentic, and the portions were incredibly generous. I'm originally from up north between Philly and Pennsylvania, so we had good pizza up there all the time. But finding pizza that's good down here is very hard to do. I can confidently say Scarpinos' pizza may not only be the best in Bradenton, but the best I've ever had anywhere, including Chicago and New York! I will definitely be eating there again and often. If you're looking for a fantastic authentic Italian experience, we can't recommend this place enough! read more

I'm SO bummed. I was nervous to order because it's really disappointing to get bad Italian food, especially when you've worked in a really good Italian restaurants. I got very excited when I arrived to see the restaurant packed with a line of waiting patrons. Sadly, I ordered poorly. Garlic knots? Actually little tiny balls of pizza dough with absolutely nothing on them and a little plastic side filled with garlic and possibly oil. It's disgusting. The pizza dough is very good however. If I was at home, I would go into the kitchen and get some Parmesan and some salt. Add it to the garlic and oil and give these things some flavor. And sadly, I should not order the chicken marsala because if you don't know how to make chicken marsala it's a disaster . I do not believe that there is any marsala in this dish and I think, I think I may have found three mushrooms. If Marsala wine was involved in the making of this sauce it's only by proximity! Maybe the chef brought the bottle into the kitchen and dropped it first. I don't know but it's not IN the dish. The sauce literally has no flavor. Not even bad flavor, just none. And you can make a good dish with thin chicken very thin chicken, but not if your sauce can't back it up. How crowded this restaurant was and how long it's been in business, I will try it again, but I'll definitely eat at the restaurant so that I can return my dish if it's this bad. SO bummed. read more

Truly an authentic Italian Restaurant. The patrons are Italian, the music is Italian, the chef is singing Italian, people laughing, smiling and singing as well, great vibe. The food.... Let's just say I am taking the day off to drive up to Scarpinos from FMB. Visit the Ringling Museum of Art (full of classic Italian art) which sets the mood and appetite for classic Italian food. Great hidden little place. Not much to look at from the outside. Inside is comfortable casual atmosphere. A small full stocked bar is off to the right as you enter. I think it's one of the best chicken parm dishes I've had. The sauce is really good. The way I like it thick so it sticks to the pasta. My niece had the sausage,penne dish and said it was very tasty. Reasonably priced. Our waitress was very helpful with the menu and very friendly. Will definitely be back. read more

I haven't been back to Scarpino's in well over a year. I remember the old place under the old ownership and they had great prices and wonderful bottled wine prices for their house collection of wines. After the renovation and new ownership the prices seem to take a fairly steep rise, so we have avoided it, but after reading the reviews about Cacio e Pepe prepared in a cheese wheel, I have to go back. First time here, and the last. Ordered chicken salad with soup. Wife ordered Pork Pitance. Wedding soup, very good and that's where it ends. Pecan chicken salad was made in my estimation with weeds and tough chicken cubes, terrible. Wife said her meat was tough and no taste. Service was excellent. The other problem was they sat us in the back room which was so cold we needed to wear our jackets. As I said in the beginning never to return. My Son and I had lunch here. What a great deal. He had a small pizza they're 10 inch. It's the five cheese one which is very Gorgonzola forward which he loves. I had the chicken and pasta special. I believe it was like $15. I'm very worth it. It was a really nicely breaded chicken cutlet, and pasta but it also came with a house salad. Normal size house salad dressing was really good. The wait stuff was really nice and helpful. They've redone the inside of the restaurant since I was there last and it's now bright and light inside very welcoming. I then recommended that we go back as a family which we did. Our table had the meatballs and thought they were very good. The sauce was good not too sugary or acidic. My Son and I shared their speciality of cacio e pepe which they do tableside. We saw them doing this at lunch and it looked like a huge portion for two people. It comes with a salad. I was a bit disappointed in the sauce. It was an Alfredo sauce that they then put into the cheese wheel. The effect is kind of cool to watch, but she definitely did not put enough cracked pepper in it. I felt that the man we saw doing it at lunch. Did a much better job at a presentation. Taste was OK wasn't what I expected for that type of a dish. The cheese wasn't as sharp as it should've been. My mom had a portobello sausage pasta and loved it. My sister said that the wedding soup was very good. My nephew had the filet mignon although he ordered it medium rare that came out more rare. But it did look good. He said it tasted good. He also enjoyed the broccoli and the potatoes that came with it. We had a cannoli to share, which I don't like, but those at the table said it was very good. The shell was crunchy which I think is important in a good cannoli. Iced tea was very good plain water. It's Florida water so it's not great. It's better than most. read more

We have been to this restaurant before, about two years ago. Now it has been fully remodeled and has new owners. It's just beautiful inside. The updated floors and bar area are very classy. The pizza we ordered was delicious! Perfectly cooked crust and the sauce and cheese was just right! I don't recommend the fried Calamari tho. It was very chewy, undercooked and greasy. The chef needs to work on that because it is an Italian go to for appetizers at an Italian restaurant. We also split an order of the Veal Franchise. Again, authentic Veal Franchise is pounded down very thinly. If you miss this very important step, you end up chewing pieces of fat, so I believe the chef must have used veal steak cutlets instead of the tenderloin which gives you tender meat that you can cut with your fork. The franchise was done perfectly and the taste was delicious, just a little bit of fat on the chew. It's very pricey here in Florida, in fact it's hard to find at the grocery store but the butcher shops all carry veal tenderloin. So if you are looking for an authentic pizza place and a beer joint, this is a good place to come and enjoy. The entertainment was delightful, the waiter was courteous and friendly. We will be back for the pizza but maybe skip the appetizers next time. read more

I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. It was a very generous size portion. However, it tasted so bad, I didn't want to eat any of it, so the generous size portion didn't really matter. The pasta was well cooked but the Alfredo sauce was terrible! There was so much green Italian spice it was impossible to eat. There was so much green Italian spice that the sauce had a green tint to it and even the noodles were a cloudy green color. You couldn't taste anything but that overpowering green. I was so disappointed. I love Alfredo. But if that was normal, do not order fettuccine Alfredo. I also ordered the garlic knots. These were NOT garlic knots. Short review as this was delivery via Postmates, aka Uber. We were grateful that we could try delivery of Italian food from a not pizzeria...Doordash and Grubhub no longer deliver from some of our favorites and have significantly shrunk their delivery range :( The salad was fresh and crisp! The chicken parmigiana was tasty, lots of cheese and a terrific red sauce/gravy. The pasta was done al dente, and plenty of mushrooms and sausage. Was not too oily as many are. Wifey had to go find her. She walked slower than molasses in January. The expo who brought our food had no idea what the entrees were. The food used to be good when Frank and his brother owned it-- and while service has never been great here the good food made up for it! But now the food stinks. Bland. Bland. Bland. They took away the amazing brown creamy Italian salad dressing Frank always had. And the best pastas-- no more Tortellini Aurora?! No more chicken wings either?? LAME!
