Inedible amount of salt, and customer service does not respond. After 10+ years I'm done, especially with this location. Disgusting, and don't respond to complaints. So, 35 years ago, I lived in Polk County Florida. I was very poor but I would get pizza from Hungry Howies once a week and eat it for a couple of days. I didn't remember if it was good or not, but you always got two pizzas. Never had it again after I left Florida. Well, 35 years later I am in South Carolina and I see Hungry Howies. So for nostalgic purposes I had to get some. I really don't remember it being this good. We got a couple of pizzas and wings. It was amazing. It is not your standard New York style that I am used to, but it is still great. I had an extra large Works with a hot honey drizzle and garlic crust. It was bursting with flavor and even the wings were excellent. If you are a pizza freak like me, do yourself a favor and get pizza here. You will love it. I called and placed an order for curbside pick up. I ordered the stuffed pepperoni bread and a large pizza. I parked up front and called them to let them know I was here. I got my food quick! By the time I got home, the food was still hot. The pepperoni bread was delicious!! It was a big portion too. The large pizza was also good. The crust was very flavorful. I got half ham and half beef and both of the toppings were good. I'll definitely think about coming here when I'm craving pizza again. read more

Maybe a little underwhelmed but this was my first time to a Hungry Howie's and I moved from a state they didn't have it. Was curious so stopped in, expecting to get the special ($5.99 w/2+ items) and ended up with a $18 tab. When I got the order, clearly she didn't hear my order and I received not exactly what I ordered which is why it was so much. I was a little surprised too that a small pizza was $9. I thought I ordered 2 subs, but ended up with 1 sub and 1 small $9 veggie pizza. Now, the food was good, but when you have your taste buds set on a sub and you get a pizza, it kinda plays against your fat kid wishes. Let me start by saying that my first experience was not the best. It was a Friday night around 8 pm. Long short story my order was place at 8, and arrived around 11 o clock. Non accurate order. I called first and talked with "some person" that was very rude and bla bla... Next day of course before writing a bad review here, I wrote to the "contact us" and tried to give a chance to at least apologize. Next morning for my surprise the owner called me. Not only apologized, he delivered the correct order and refunded me the previous order. So that's not usual. Now: let me tell you what I think about the food. I LOVE Hungry Howie's Pizza. The butter/cheese crust/ Asiago is to die for. The breads are a must. You can't go wrong with the 4 cheese. I love the other flavors too! I had never tried their pizza until I moved here, and honestly, it is one if not the best pizzas in Charlotte. So after that first bad experience, I've never had another one again. I order through the app and pick up the at the store every 10-15 days. And I've tried other pizzas which are not even a 10% good as The Hungry Howie's. read more

I have only ever gotten takeout from Howie's before but my experience has been amazing. My orders have always been delivered earlier than promised. In addition, the food itself is great. My personal favorite is the cheesy howie bread. I literally ate an entire loaf in under 7 minutes and felt like i had ascended (in a good way). Historically, Hungry Howie's is one of our top pick pizzas. Our favorite when we lived in Arizona and I was excited to see you had a franchises in Charlotte. We ordered Saturday night at 9pm. When it was delivered at 9:40 the pizza looked as if it had been dropped or tilted. Both were all smashed to one side of the box. We straightened it out as best we could and ate it. Thin crust is perfectly crispy every time! Pick a flavored crust(garlic herb is the best). More toppings than most places and they won't cost you and arm and leg. I am a Hungry Howie's junkie. My only complaint is that they don't have a location close enough to Uptown to deliver. I love the dough, the cheese, the sauce, and when I'm trying to be good, even the salad is legit (as an appetizer).
