The staff remembered us from our last visit, and that family-style hospitality is exactly why we keep coming back. Former New Yorker here - this is a solid NY pizza spot!!! Why? - Thin crust but it's not dry. It's HEAVY on ingredients and cheese! - So many ingredients. They don't skimp - They'll do half and half pizzas which is rare - Fair prices for what you get - Garlic knots are fantastic I ordered a half buffalo chicken/half white pizza and it was soooooo good. The 18" is enormous. Barely fits in the box. I can't wait to go back here. If anyone says anything bad about the service, ignore their review - we go to pizza places for the food. Taste like pizza was made yesterday I ordered a slice of cheese and a slice of sausage. Was looking for an easy place to get takeout pizza - and this satisfied that requirement. We got an 18 inch pepperoni pizza - $21. If you are looking for pizza that is similar to NY style pizza (thin crust/floppy end), this is good. I almost didn't order here because I saw the pictures from yelp, and I didn't get a chance to snap a pic but they have updated the inside. As for the pizza, I do think the crust needed more salt. Crust is my favorite part of the pizza, and I didn't finish mine today. We got carry out pizza, garlic knots, and a hot Italian sub to share with family at our hotel nearby. Luigi's was pretty greasy but it really hit the spot after flying all day and not getting to have lunch due to a short layover. The biggest negative was we were told it would be ready in 20 minutes but when my husband arrived to pick up a few minutes early they were just putting in the sandwich to be made. Don't Order a Hot Sandwich for Delivery! The Pizzas are always a big hit in the office for lunch. The guys ask for the Buffalo Chicken with Ranch often. The delivery person is always friendly and helpful, and on time! My only issue with this particular delivery was the hot sandwich. It came wrapped in foil with a paper plate and wax paper inside that. The paper plate and the wax paper were completely wet from the steam and the bread was soggy and inedible. I had to throw the bread away. It probably would have been fine just wrapped in paper or in a box. I suggest not ordering a hot sandwich for delivery if you want to be able to eat it. Order it cold, or tell them not to wrap it in foil, just in paper or a box. Otherwise, it'll be a waste of money. Stick with the pizzas! read more

Being from New York, I'm really particular about my pizza. Have I found anything as good as the premier spots in the Big Apple? No. But in Luigi's, I've found not only the best pizza in Charlotte, but one that's pretty dang good anywhere. It even looks like some of the throwback pizza joints in NYC. This place is amazing! I've been enjoying pizzas from this place for 20 years it has never failed to disappoint. Inside the restaurant has a great NY pizzeria vibe the service is always great! This place started as a staple hang for my friends and I over the years I have turned many of my coworkers into fans. Now coming here is a tradition for my son and I! This is not a drill!!!! First time checking out Luigis tonight (2.8.19) and at first this New Yorker was a skeptic. Too many disappointments here in the south with places using the New York City name to sell pizza but then not delivering an authentic pie. Well not here. Most people get swept away with the cheese, sauce and toppings but they forget that the crust is the backbone of the pizza.....if the restaurant cuts corners and tries to use regular all purpose flour to make the dough it will show in the final pizza. Pizza slices and pies so big that they barely fit in the box. This restaurant is using the Italian semolina flour and doing it the way that a true authentic NYC pizza should be done. All they need now are Zeppolis. My only criticism is that the meatballs are $5 to put on a pizza while the other toppings are $2.....expensive. Will definitely return.... read more
