So if you were raised in the 80's like I was, do I have a spot for you. I recently went to this wonderful restaurant and the 80's theme decor is amazing. When you look around you can't help but notice all the little details that have gone into making this restaurant true to its era. Even the restroom was not left out with details. Now the menu is largely breakfast and with many options to choose from. I stuck with the Optimus Prime Burger and onion rings, not out of my comfort zone but still delicious regardless. Because I was working I could not enjoy the long list of adult beverages or the Boozy Shakes they offer. I will be back but when I can enjoy the full range of this place.

First time I heard of Hungry Like the Wolf was from my brunch gang. I thought it was a joke. After learning about the history at this restaurant and tasting the food here, I kind of like the concept and style. I have been here a few times already. I am familiar with the route from my house. It has easy access from Katy Freeway on Studemont Street and a big parking lot. The restaurant has many attractive banners "lunch $10" that makes me want to stop by during lunchtime one day. Service was pretty good during Sunday brunch. We usually have about 20 people. The waitstaff was able to accommodating us by linking the tables together. Oh, there is 20% tips added to the individual bills, which I don't mind. The prices are kind of high for my budget. But because we are a LGBT group, I find it comfortable to eat at Hungry Like the Wolf restaurant. And, I would come back to try lunchtime menu.

Hungry Like the Wolf is an 80s-themed bar and restaurant that will transport you back to one of the greatest decades in music history. From the decor to the food, this place is a nostalgic trip worth taking. We ordered the off-menu wagyu burger topped with bacon, cheese, and a fried egg--absolutely delicious. We also tried the in-house Sloppy Joe, which was flavorful and reminiscent of a homemade childhood favorite. Definitely worth it! Service was excellent--our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. A fun bonus is their themed days: Wednesdays and Thursdays feature 80s movies, while Saturdays and Sundays are all about classic 80s cartoons. If you love the 80s or just want a unique dining experience in Houston, Hungry Like the Wolf is a must-visit!

So ya wanna be hungry like the wolf .... Well ya may not want to Duran Duran your way over here . Look the 80s theming is more so leaning into the 90s they try there best with the 80s nostalgia but like the 80s ... maybe some things should be left in the past . Look, it's fine. The farmers market is... there. You can buy vegetables that look like they were grown by people who care slightly more than your local grocery store does, but let's not pretend this is some hidden gem of artisanal wonder. Half the stands sell the same overpriced honey, and everyone acts like paying $8 for a loaf of bread makes them a locavore saint. The produce is decent -- not mind-blowing, not tragic, just fine. The "freshly squeezed" juice tasted suspiciously like something that came from a bottle, and the live music? Imagine someone's uncle learning guitar mid-set. It's the kind of place you go once a month to feel wholesome and pretend you're better than the people at Costco, but deep down, you know you'll end up there later anyway.

Save your time and money. We waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged and we had to seat ourselves. We came here because the pictures they have online seemed appetizing. Once we were finally attended by the server they gave us a menu that was literally a print out. it took them 30 minutes to bring out their food while the restaurant was practically empty with 5 other people. We wanted to leave but then they finally came and boy were we astonished. The quality of the food was mediocre at best with the sauces coming out in plastic containers that looked like they were canned. Their " heart shaped waffles" were the palest I've ever seen and resembled a raw pizza dough.

Heaven. On. Earth. I love the 80s and it felt like going home. Met a friend on a Wednesday for an early dinner (5 pm) so it wasn't very busy. One table and a guy at the bar. By the time we left, business was picking up. The interior was perfect. Reminded me of the best time ever - the 80s but not overdone. The tables were sparkling. The restaurant was very clean. The guy working was awesome. Very helpful and friendly. Wednesdays are movie days so the tail end of Ferris Bueller was being projected on the wall. They have a diverse menu. Breakfast, sandwiches, salads, entrees. They also have a few specials $10. Ordered a cocktail called the purple rain and I loved it. I'm not a drinker but this was very delicious. Ordered the meatball on Madonna sandwich. It was half a meatball sandwich and fries for $10. The sandwich was pretty big so it didn't even seem like half of one and the fries were really good - crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. After the movie ended, 80s music came on and it was a sing a long the rest of the night. I also ordered a spaghetti to go for my dad. It was a lot of pasta but needed more sauce. Dad was happy. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The guy working deserves 5 stars because he was really great. He said Friday nights they do karaoke and Sunday afternoons they have a dj. There is also a patio area. Def plan on returning soon.

Came here for an 80's party and although the ambiance is pretty cool, the food could use some tweaks. It's not horrible but could use some seasoning. Prices are a bit high but for the area is not too bad. Service was good and speedy.

They are more like hush puppies or fritters... very cornmeal (or bread?) heavy and hardly any crab to be called a "crab cake." I think another review mentioned that, and even our server told us (after the fact) that patrons don't like their crab cakes. I've been gluten-free for six months and kinda bummed I broke my streak on this dish. Thankfully they took it off our bill (at $44 for four, and we couldn't even finish one.)

I also had the his biscus lemonade. Needless to say--well actually, quite needing to say since this is a review after all--the food was pretty good. Prices were a little crazy but it's become all to normal in this day and age. As for the food, I ordered a kids cheeseburger burger with fries , a kids meal chicken tender.. don't feel like saying all this again. As for the food, the service was pretty good I guess. The girl servers were pretty smart. The boy servers were a little less smart. Every time the guys brought food, they either stood there looking around, or attempted to place the food on top of other plates or napkins that were on the tiny table. I suggest maybe a boot/concentration program for the guys so they can concentrate a lil more. Ok, it's time for me to go. I'm gonna go to sleep after all the food. I forgot to mention what I ordered. kids cheeseburger burger with fries, a kids meal chicken tender with fries, a farmhouse burger, and the half chicken with biscuits. I also had the his biscus lemonade. The half chicken was obviously what they tried the hardest in. There were 4 types of sauce with it. They were all pretty good, but I didn't eat the chicken. The chicken tasted incredible-- so much so that I finished it completely. But I don't like eating around bones, I find it primitive. I'm more of a chicken tender kinda guy if you know what I mean. Oh yeah and for the food, I had a his biscus lemonade. It was SO good. Alright. And that is the end of my review. I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Had a 5:30pm resy, seated outside right away that Saturday evening--it was a full house 45 minutes later. You'd be a fool to skip the dilly bread--a complete fool! The rolls are pillowy and warm. I could eat the butter by the pint. The fingerlinging potato dish is also a must have...pretty small for $19 but tastes like heaven. Spicy! Zaddy was being a bit of a clutz that evening and knocked over my $20 mezcal cocktail, so what does he do? Orders me another one! (That's why he's "zaddy") ....kind of wish he hadn't...so wasn't worth the price tag. Skip it. The chicken dinner was definitely the winner--fresh, juicy breast, crispy skin...don't be cute, you won't finish it unless your party has at least 4 in it! The flies were ruthless! Very annoying! They were acting like the geekers that come bother you just outside your favorite fried chicken joint in south Dallas! Our waitress brought out a table fan so that made the experience a little more tolerable. The chocolate peanut butter pie tasted like a salt rock and the lemon chiffon pie had great flavor but not lemony enough for me. All in all this place is a bit pricey but truly a gem! The fried chicken was well balanced, good brine and a crispy delicate batter. The bread with butter and jam was also quite decent. And prices were not too jaw breaking for an upscale brunch experience. Would definitely come back again!

Seems to be a martini place but I had a Manhattan and really enjoyed it, it was a strong drink but very tasty. The kampachi crudo was very light but also flavorful with fun textures from the toppings. The mussels on bread were savory and buttery, really liked the addition of the large beans. The pappardelle with the wide noodles was so fun and there was lots of parm which I liked, and the lemon zest was a nice touch. The squash was soft and I loved the ricotta. The campanelle was really unique with the crawfish and the spicy sauce, the noodle shape was so fun. The cheeseburger is tiny but mighty, super juicy and cheesy. The fries were perfectly crispy. Mango sorbet was packed full of mango flavor! Really enjoyed this spot, can't believe it took me so long to get here. Probably best to get a reservation. Small parking lot available.

I bring family and friends here all the time along with business partners. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, Texas. You will experience the best food and the best service here every single time! Today was the first time I decided to get some food to go. Bradley was an absolute professional. While I was leaving, Johnny Carrabba came out and talked to me for a second. What a nice guy. Full of natural charisma. Reminds me of an old wise guy from casino or Goodfellas. We had a great conversation. I told him how my grandmother was born in Bryan Texas in 1927. He told me about his family that migrated there in 1905. He also mentioned his family had a store on Canal Street. I had no idea. An exceptional person, a legend in the restaurant industry here in Houston, Texas. It was great to meet you today Johnny. Thank you for your professionalism and hospitality and also thank you for serving some of the best food in Houston, Texas! Food: as you can see from all my pictures of the food is simply amazing. The best cornbread in the world. The best pot roast. The best sticky ribs. The best desserts. Everything here is phenomenal. Lunch dinner brunch you cannot go wrong. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Bradley and Johnny today I've been coming to this location for years and I will continue to come and support this restaurant.

The main highlight was the 5 star service by Eric! He's enough to make me want to go back! I'll definitely ask for him every time! 2nd highlight is that cornbread because whew...bussin. Pair it with the collard greens and that's a five-star combo all day. I was undecided on what to order, so I went with the cajun stuffed chicken exactly as it comes, along with mac & cheese and collard greens. The meal wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either. The chicken, I'd probably skip next time, I took most to go and it went bad cause I couldn't do it. Mac wasn't anything to write home about either but again, them greens and cornbread are absolutely getting reordered. My friend ordered the key lime pie and enjoyed it, so that seemed to be another solid choice. But back to the real MVP of the visit which was our server, Eric. He made menu suggestions without being pushy, kept my glass full the entire meal, was kind, patient, and anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. That level of service is becoming harder to find, and it definitely elevated the experience. Overall, the food landed somewhere in the middle for me, but Eric's service easily pushed this visit to four stars. I'll definitely be back...mainly for that cornbread lol.

Back to the steak. I am very particular about my filets I prefer it medium Pittsburgh style. The chef here got it perfectly! It was so tender on the inside and crispy one outside, I devoured it. For sides I ordered truffle mash potato and Mac & cheese. I couldn't find a truffle in my mash tasted very regular. Besides that I enjoyed my meal. My husband loved his Ruben as it's his favorite here too.

The real win here is social hour. $10 appetizers that are normally closer to $18? Say less. We ordered a few things to share: Cheeseburger egg rolls (slightly overcooked on the outside, but still good flavor) Cheeseburger sliders (simple, but my partner enjoyed them) Meatballs over mashed potatoes (THIS was a surprise--it's basically a full meal and very good) Bang bang shrimp (probably my favorite--great flavor and presentation) Drinks were also well done and consistent. The vibe is definitely more relaxed, social, and comfortable--not super fancy, but still nice enough for a casual night out. Overall: Good food, great service, and excellent value. I'd definitely come back.
