I just had my car fixed at Hunter's Woods Auto Service Center and am happy to say I finally found a place I trust and am happy with. Every step of the way they were incredibly helpful. I had a check engine light on on my Honda Fit 2015. They found out a problem with the exhaust system and gave me an estimate. I did some research and found the amount fair, even on the lower side. Ended up paying even less because they didn't have to replace sensors and were able to use the original ones. I was able to get a loaner car from them too and not lose any work that day. Which was great! Now my car is driving great. They also suggested I change my tires which I did with them for a good price. I hadn't changed my tires in about 4 years... It was definitely time. And lastly - the following day the tire pressure light came on. I went to the gas station by the auto shop to get some air since I thought it was normal with new tires. One of the mechanics came out recognizing my car and said I just need to reset the sensor and he helped me with it. So happy with this place!!! Highly recommend! read more

*Massively overcharging* If you're considering going here, definitely get a second opinion before authorizing any work. Today I went to Chanel Automotive in Hunter's Woods Exxon and received a brake quote on my 2019 Volvo S60. I was given an estimate of over $1,900 for pads, rotors, and a brake flush. After comparing this to multiple trusted sources and independent shops, I realized this is $600-$1,000 more than what's reasonable -- even for a luxury European vehicle. Labor costs were massively inflated (over $1,000 total), and the parts were marked up to near-dealership pricing, without giving me any choice between OEM or aftermarket parts. A full brake job for this car with high-quality parts should cost $950-1,200 -- not $1,900. I felt like I was being taken advantage of, especially as a woman without mechanical experience. It's frustrating and disappointing to receive a quote that seems designed to exploit people who don't know better. read more

After Jiffy Lube recommended new front brake pads, brought my 2013 Corolla here to have it done. Chahel recommended $3,200 of repairs, including $1,900 work on all four brakes. Called two other places for second opinion and took it to another mechanic, noting all the problems flagged by Chahel's team. The other mechanic said all I needed was the front brake pads. Even though I have used this Chahel for inspections, oil changes, and repairs in the past, not sure I can trust them again. Don't know what changed, but on this and my previous visit they have been recommending substantially more "needed" repairs. Would strongly suggest others look elsewhere for service. read more

Noticed my van was leaking fuel and pulled in here on a whim to see if they would take a look at it. On this busy Saturday afternoon they got my car in a bay right away and found the problem with the fuel line. I could see it myself and was so glad I stopped. They were closing for the day but they stayed open after hours to fix this for me! That was such great customer service. Before I left they aired up all my tires just as a service. I can't attest to the quality of work yet, but just for the fact that they were so incredibly helpful and bailed me out of a potentially dangerous situation, they get 5 stars from me! Never ever go to this store again after the ownship change. The new owner only want to rob you. I got a battery change bill of $530+. A battery cost $200 and unknown store supply item and service fee. I Uber 30min to this store is only because the old owner I have worked with for over 3 years. Spoke to gentleman about patching my tire, oil change and emissions check. He told me it could take 2 hours because he was down a bay. Said I could get emissions and then I could leave it. Gave him a time , confirmed that he could do it. When I got there they said they couldn't do it. Actually acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. Towed my car there after coolant overflow tank cracked and started spraying everywhere. (Common and known problem with my car) They refused to give me a price on replacing it, saying that before they would even give me a quote, I had to pay the 150 (that they will not credit toward the work) to "diagnose" the problem, I told them I know exactly what was wrong, I pulled over the second I heard the tank crack and saw it spraying out when I lifted the hood. I told them I'm fully aware that something else could have gone wrong bc of it, but I wanted to fix the problem that I knew it had first. He said we specialize in Asian cars mostly anyway, if you like to take it somewhere else you can, and handed me the key. I like the last owner, he would at least have a conversation with you about any issues he saw in a quick visual inspection. I couldn't even get him to talk to me about what he saw on a brief visual inspection without agreeing to pay them 150 to "diagnose" the problem first. read more

Hunter's Woods Exxon is my neighborhood gas station; I've been buying gas there for 28+ years. It's always been good, but after changing owners in January 2022, it has become really great. Twice in 2022 I took cars in for service - they were quick, did a good job, and their prices were very reasonable. I'm a totally satisfied customer. read more

Terrible staff. Stay Away from this place. Facts: 1) They work on something for several hours then want to charge labor for diagnostics but say things like "they don't know what is wrong", 2) Lack of detail or quality in the final work. Personal experience with the staff: Before leaving the parking lot of their shop, I showed two staff members that the work they had just finished was causing malfunctions. The staff showed NO interest in a car that was malfunctioning immediately after they worked on it. Even after I specifically asked to take my car back into the shop & visually inspect for just a few minutes to double check if something had been missed they flat out refused to help. Then the manager preferred to waste 30 minutes trying to convince me to pay $150 extra just to diagnose what was wrong with the work they had just finished doing themselves. Instead, I drove my car straight to another shop for a 2nd opinion, and within 10 minutes, it was found that faulty & improper work had been done to my car. Still after, I contacted Hunter's Wood staff with detailed proof, but that was not something they were willing to learn from, and they offered no attempts to help, took no responsibility of anything. This place needs more reviews and boy have I got one. Every time that I've come here to get gas, this place, in the words of The Fresh Prince, has been nothing but trouble. More specifically, credit card trouble. The first time I went here, I had one of those Vanilla Visa gift cards. With those, if you pay for gas at the pump, they immediately hold $50 until the actual amount you paid for gas goes through. So, I went inside, asked for gas with credit and he said "Sorry, but we only accept debit inside." He then gave some really strange explanation that they don't get the money most of the time if they do credit or something (bear with me, it was over 6 months ago when this happened). Having experience with credit card machines, I then told him that he needs to change card companies. Fast forward a few months later, my husband is trying to get gas at the pump this time. Goes to one pump then realizes it's out of service. Go to the next and it won't take cards. Since we were in a hurry, we just drove to the next closest (and, thankfully, cheaper) gas station. Wrapping this up now, I promise. About a month ago, one of the card readers at the pump tore my card somehow. Thankfully, it was on the non-magnetic strip side because I would've made them pay to get me a replacement. And then today, went to the pump and it wasn't accepting debit transactions. If you want to just fill up the tank, do yourself a favor and go up the street to the Fox Mill Shopping Center Exxon or the one at South Lakes. Not only are those stations much better but they usually have cheaper gas. read more

I've had all my cars services there for years. Even when my sister had a flat tire, they took care of her like they do for me; like family. Friendly and knowledgable staff and management. I had my windshield replaced by them. They were cheaper than Safelite and the dealership and even more responsive. I called to get a quote and they were able to get it repaired the next day. Safelite didn't have any availabilities for over week. They are remodeling the lobby and that is a great idea. It will be nice to have more room. The new manager is doing great things. read more

I took my car in for an inspection after a different place quoted me over $1000 in order to pass. Turns out a minor repair costing only $130 was able to fix the problem and my car passed just fine at this Exxon. Saman and his tech were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain exactly what was going on, including pictures of the actual damage under the car so I could see for myself what he was talking about. He didn't talk down to me just because I'm female which a lot of other mechanics have done in the past. He even showed me how to check my brake pads so I can keep an eye on them in the future. So happy with these guys! They are my go to from now on!!! read more

In the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the event that you fail an emissions test, you are given 14 days for a retest. However, they give each garage the flexibility to determine what they charge for that retest (if anything, at all). I've been going to Hunters Woods Exxon monthly for a gasoline fill up and annually for my inspection because I live around the corner and I like working with local businesses. However, I made the mistake of showing up 3 days after the 14 day window. Instead of charging me $1, Hunters Woods Exxon wanted to charge me the full $28. Let me make clear that they are WELL WITHIN THEIR RIGHTS TO CHARGE THAT AMOUNT. That said and because they chose not to give their customer an advantage for the retest, I chose not to give them an advantage with the repeat business and I will take it to another garage. If you make it known to me that the only thing that matters is the dollars, I wil vote with my feet and channel those dollars differently. And you can be sure that even though margins are low on retail gas, I will not be giving them that business either. I'll never come here or to any franchises held by the same owner. read more

I took my car to this service shop to change the alternator where the owner quoted me about $650 and then he calls me the following day keeping my car there for a day saying that the car needs a lot of labor hours dedicated to it. He quoted me $1100. I will never go to this shop again. Definitely do not recommend it unless you want to get taken advantage of. read more

They spent all of 5 minutes on an emissions "inspection" which I do not believe was properly done and to add insult to injury, they did NOT do my safety inspection that is CLEARLY DUE so now i have to take MORE TIME OUT OF MY LIFE to deal with getting a safety inspection amidst a national quarantine with little time to get it done - exposing myself to this illness. i am BAFFLE as to why they would not have simply done the safety inspection WHEN I TOLD THEM TO TAKE CARE OF IT. To add to that, the cashier is RUDE...I won't be going back. Unbelievable. They spoke no English so it's no wonder my safety inspection wasn't done. The lead mechanic, Mark is very dishonest. Be careful!! They charged me $19.95 for fuel injection cleaner by BK, week of March 1, 2018. A week later when I took my father's car there and asked for the same cleaning additive, Mark charged me $34.95 for the same product claiming the prices climbed by $15 since last week on a $19.95 product. What part of this is honest? Is this the way you treat return business customers? Checked the prices on net and Walmart, and they hover up to $22. The owner should do something about this dishonest lead mechanic. Never will return there !!! read more

Do not take your car here for any service. A month and a half ago, the head mechanic, Dave Mason backed into another vehicle and crushed my bumper. He blamed the other car, but didn't get the woman's insurance information because she had a little kid in the back seat. After promising to fix my bumper for over a month now, they are avoiding my calls and won't even look at me when I show up in person. The manager is as slow to react or care about the situation as Dave is. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost. KEEP DRIVING, your life may depend on it. We had our car inspected here in July of 2014 and 2 months later learned the car was definitely NOT properly inspected. This resulted in thousands of dollars of repairs to our brake system. They were so worn out, there wasn't even a steel backing on the actual brake pad. Any inspection station would have caught this as a huge safety issue. They cost us thousands, literally, and it could have been prevented. Thank god my family wasn't injured (or worse) due to their incompetence. We will never go back, even for gasoline. If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. Unbelievable. read more

You, Angela M., were in your blue Mercedes (VA tag # WMP-8758) and very pissed off that you could not get the closest pump because Mechanic (Mark) was assisting another customer at the pump you wanted because your fuel intake was on that side of your car. Mark tried to help direct you to the next pump over but you got out of your Mercedes and started yelling at the other customer, Mark and another Exxon employee who asked you to take it easy as there were 4 other pumps available. You were upset because the other customer was an older white male being assisted. Everyone their heard you bring up the "foreigner" comment because you are from the Philippines. There were 6 people who saw and heard you, not Mark, make the discriminating comment about race. You are a negative person who tried to show your elitist behavior with your Mercedes C-280. Myself and a larger part of the community have been utilizing Mark's expertise and kindness to keep our family cars running safely. Only went here for VA Safety inspection for my 4Runner. Minimal wait since it was the middle of the month and not the busy time. Inspector was polite and efficient (10-15 mins to do the inspection). Answered a couple of general inspection questions I had and I was done. Brought in my kids Impreza for its inspection a couple of days later and had the same pleasant experience. Will come here again for the next car. Will even consider bring my car in next time it needs repair! read more

Takes about 20 minutes for an inspection, so if you come at the end or beginning of the month (when it's popular) adjust your wait expectations accordingly. Hunter's Wood Exxon is close to my home and is my regular inspection and gas purchase location. I've been getting major repairs elsewhere. But twice I've stopped in to Hunter's Wood Exxon with minor issues. Recently I had a break light out - had purchased the replacement light but didn't know how to install it. The mechanic changed it out on the spot and didn't even charge me. Today I thought I had a flat tire - the mechanic checked the tire for punctures and then replaced all the air in my tires. Again, no charge. Because of their neighborly assistance, next time I need service of any kind I will give Hunter's Wood my business. read more
